IPhone to Aperture

I am sitting here with my iPhone 4s attached to my MacBook Pro, trying to import 8 selected pics from a recent trip into a selected project in Aperture 3.5.1. When I attached the phone it automatically uploaded 49 pics. But I cannot find the in any Aperture folder, project or album. How can I find these photos? How can I select specific photos to import from my iPhone? How can I tell Aperture where to put photos I want to import?

. When I attached the phone it automatically uploaded 49 pics.
If you never saw any pics, how do you know that it automatically uploaded 49 pics?
there must have been some indication that Aperture recognized the connected device.
Importing from the iPhone should work exactly as described here, after you connect the iPhone to USB:
See this manual page:   Importing from Your Digital Camera or Card Reader
Connect the phone to USB; launch Aperture, press the downarrow in the toolbar to open the "Import" panel.
Select your iPhone in the "Devices" section. You should see this:
Uncheck "Do not import duplicates" to be able to see all photos in the Camera Roll, even photos you already imported. You should disable it again, after you made sure, that you already the imported the photos to avoid duplicates.
Check all options in the "File Types" brick, if you excluded any files accidentally.

  • IPhone and Aperture 3

I've been trying to sincronize my iPhone with Aperture 3 via iTunes. When I try, a message appears saying:
"The Aperture Library has not been found. Open the Preferences window in Aperture and activate the option that allows to share previews with other applications"
I've tried to find the option, but haven't been able to find it.
    Can anybody help???

    Do your images have previews?
Select all the images you want to share in the browser and select "Photos > Update Previews" from the main menu bar.
You also may need to repair your Aperture library or fix a  corrupted Preference file, see the
    Aperture 3: Troubleshooting Basics: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805
on how to do this. Try first to repair the permissions, then to repair the library, then to remove the preferences.
Another possibility might be the iPod Photo Cache inside the library package.
    Quit Aperture.
Open the Aperture Library package by ctrl-clicking it, selecting "Show Package Contents", and then remove the folder "iPod Photo Cache".

  • I can't import from my iPhone into Aperture anymore

Since upgrading last night to 10.10.3 and running the new Photos app, I'm unable to import from my iPhone into Aperture. My iPhone does not show up in the Import pane. Anybody else seeing this? or am I missing something?

I agree that Apple screwed Aperture users. I don't understand why. Over the last few years, Apple has dumbed down some applications which makes those apps much less useful. Then they slowly start adding some functions back in for a couple of years then nothing. Look at Pages. It still is missing features that the old pages had.
Apple should have simply given Aperture to everybody and maybe implemented a Simple User function for those people that don't need professional features. Here was an app ready to go and what does Apple do? Get rid of Aperture to come up with a "toy" replacement, as somebody on these discussion boards mentioned. I'm very disappointed in Apple and the direction that some of these apps are taking. I used to enthusiastically push Apple products to everybody but now I mind my own business. It's a sad state of affairs. The whole quality has gone down. All this reminds me of Apple before Steve Jobs took over. Somebody needs to crack the whip over there and focus on quality and useful apps AND listen to the users.

  • How could I import the photos I took in iPhone into Aperture 3?  I see nothing when I connect my iPhone to my Mac..

How could I import the photos I took in iPhone into Aperture 3?  I see nothing when I connect my iPhone to my Mac..
    iPhoto isn't working neither..

I see nothing when I connect my iPhone to my Mac.
Does your Mac not recognize the device? Or is the iPhone recognized, but the import panel does not show any images to import? Is your Photo Stream turned on?
There is a known bug with PhotoStream and AP 3.2.1.
Do you have the current Aperture version 3.2.2? If not, upgrade to 3.2.2.

  • Can I be the first to ask Will the new iPhone run Aperture?

And will Aperture support RAW files from this new camera phone?
    C'mon!! WHY NOT!!!
    Sorry, could not resist

I came to the forum tonight, specifically looking for someone to ask this question; it was inevitable. LOL.
    For more realistic issues:
I hope the iPhone will sync with specified Aperture albums, not just iPhoto albums.
And I wonder if someone will make an iPod adaptor (which is what the iPhone seems to use) to display 1024x768 images so you can use iPhone's photo app to display slideshows on a video projector. Or maybe I should just continue using my MacBook Pro.

  • Aperture to iPhone to Aperture

I've recently been seduced by a number of filter apps on the iPhone and would like to integrate them into my photo workflow.
I manage photos in Aperture 3.
    My ideal workflow:
    1: Export/send/sync a version to the iPhone
2: Edit it in an app
3: Reimport it into Aperture such that it somehow relates to the original - by filename, date etc.
My best solution at the moment is prone to chaos:
1: Sync an Aperture album with iTunes
2: Edit photo in an app and save to Camera Roll
3: Reimport into Aperture with new, totally unrelated filename/date
4: Manually find original photo and add both to a stack
    Is there a better way?
    Ben

    This is my Workflow! :-)
PhotoSync on both iPhone and Desktop
    EXIF Renamer on Desktop
On the iPhone in Photos I create Albums that depict the progress of my Workflow
    1) Originals
    2) Picks
    3) Processed
    4) Final
Everything I shoot for Personal work gets put into 1) Origanal from the CameraRoll
I make my Picks and move them into the 2) Picks Album, deleting from the 1) Origanal Album
From 2) Picks we tweak them in FilterStorm where they are saved in the CameraRoll
From CameraRoll we move the Final image into the 4) Final Album
Then we move the image from 2) Picks to 3) Processed and delete it from the 2) Picks Album
From there we use PhotoSync to Export the compleate Album to the Desktop over WiFi
PhotoSync recognizes the Albums that you create in CameraRoll!
Once the images are on the Desktop we Label each folder an appropriate color
Move them all into one Folder
Than rename them to the EXIF date and time (using EXIF Renamer)
    Import into Apeture
select all the recently Imported images and use Auto Stack to group the Origanals with the Tweaked Final Images
    Done! :-)

  • Synching iPad/iPhone with Aperture missing pictures

Recently when I synch my iPad and iPhone with iTunes , the number of pictures I get on my iPad or iPhone is either less or equal to zero when compared to the folders and projects in my Aperture Library. For Example my entire Aperture library contains 15331 pictures if I synch it all I consistently get 5604 photos in my iPad or iPhone. I have the latest versions of OSX, Aperture and ITunes as well as iOS. I have repaired, rebuilt the Aperture Library and repaired permissions on my HD but the problem persists.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated.

There is no solution. USB 2.0 is required. If your notebook has a PCMCIA slot then you might look for a PCMCIA card that provides one or two USB 2.0 ports, but I don't know if such an animal exists.

  • IPhone and Aperture sync

    Ok,
My iPhone 3G photos are no longer available. I tried Ap3, Ap2, iPhoto, Image Capture.... Nothing. Everything works under iTunes (even Internet Thetering) except the images. The iPhone no longer appear under import at Aperture. I did a Restore and everything worked untill I used the last iPhone back up.
    Any suggestion ?

Same here. On the last Aperture sync, it suddenly popped up after a while. Thinking it might have had with space (I had 0k of space left, hence the need for a sync), I deleted all my music. Now the iPhone has 12Gb free, but still won't show up.

  • IPhone opens Aperture import screen

For some reason, when I plug my iPhone into my Mac and Aperture is running, it automatically goes to the import screen. I have application launching disabled in Image Capture, so this only happens when Aperture is already open, but I thought it was a strange behavior. When I connect my digital camera, Aperture doesn't react and I have to manually click import if I want to import something. I would like my iPhone to behave the same way with Aperture. When I plug in my iPhone to sync, 99% of the time, it doesn't meant I want to import photos and its annoying to return my phone to it's cradle and have my photo editing interrupted by an import screen.
Does anybody know if there is a way to disable this auto import feature in Aperture with the iPhone??

  • Cannot copy photos from iPhone to Aperture or iPhoto

I've had this problem before: when connecting the iphone to the mac, and opening either Aperture or iPhoto, the images on the iPhone don't show up. Just empty squares, and an incorrect number of them. I followed the advice to delete photos from the iPHone until I killed the one that is causing the problem. That has worked in the past. Today, I've deleted them all. The iPhone is empty, but still iPhoto and Aperture think there are 73 images and presents them as outlines.
How do I get this straightened out?

    RADumas,
It appears the photo files themselves became damaged at some point; restoring your iPhone wouldn't change this. This symptom usually doesn't indicate "phantom files"; they're the original files, but they're damaged to the point where they are unreadable.
Have you tried importing the photos using Image Capture? Also, if you try to import these images using a test user account, does the same issue occur?
Mac OS X 10.5 Help: Creating a new user account
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
If you restore your iPhone, setting it up as a new phone, this should erase the damaged photos from the iPhone (I assume you are viewing these files using the import options in iPhoto/ Aperture) and resolve any other software issues the iPhone may be experiencing.
If the test user or Image Capture does not allow you to import your photos, the only real solution to this would be if you had a known good backup of these photos someplace else (like an external hard disk drive, a CD/DVD, or another copy on your computer) that you could re-import into iPhoto or Aperture. This of course would mean at one point you were able to import these photos prior to this issue.

  • Photo count does not match between iPhone and Aperture Album

I have several Aperture albums synced with my iPhone. In one instance, I have an album that in Aperture has 272 images, and on the iPhone has only 62. The 62 on the iPhone are not the first or last 62, but an assortment over the span of the 272, with no apparent rhyme or reason. All the images in Aperture are in the library (none are missing), they are all the same size, format, etc.
For reference, my iPhone has a total of 680 photos in 13 albums, the largest album is 164 photos. There is almost a gig of space left on the 8GB iPhone, so it is not running out of room.
How can I resolve this, or is there a fix/trouble ticket on the map for this? Help!!

Hi. I had the same problem. It was resolved after I selected the all the photos in that album then go to Aperture Menu > Images > Update Preview.
The photo count shown in iTunes was correct after that. Hope this helps.

  • Photo Stream fails to load all photos from iPhone to Aperture (3.3.2)

using Aperture 3.3.2 on macbook pro with mountain lion - photos that do get imported are from other projects (aperture library on imac), and iphone photos don't get imported. Tried several things: turning off and turning on photo sharing from all devices, checking to make sure that no conflicts exist between iphoto, aperture, that shared Aperture libraries are sync'ed.
Also, tried to insert ONE photo from existing Aperture library into photostream. After 4 hours, no synchronization on any mobil device (iphone, ipads). Tried turning off photo stream in iphone and restarting it ..no problem recreating the stream...
Any ideas what to try? I'm stumped.
    Thanks in advance

Photostream only uploads the photos taken (or imported to the device) AFTER you enable Photostream.  Photos from prior to Photostream being turned on will not upload.  You could just take screenshots of the older photos to create 'new' images, or transfer your photos to your computer manually.

  • Selected videos won't sync from Aperture through iTunes to my iPhone 5s

I don't know if this is an iPhone issue, an Aperture issue, or an iTunes issue . . .
I'm using Aperture, on my iMac, and have created albums that contain videos (as well as photos). Some videos are iPhone-created that I imported from my iPhone into Aperture (since iCloud/Photostream does not automatically cloud videos); some videos were created by me in a separate program (iMovie or FCPX) and then down-mixed to put into my Aperture album. I'm trying to sync my Aperture album (not Event, but Album) to my iPhone 5s so that I have an album on my iPhone directly mimicking my Aperture album.
The pictures come over perfectly, sorted by date as they are in Aperture. However, the videos have issues. Most importantly, only the ones originally created by my iPhone come back across to my phone, and in the correct album. Anything that I've created (Final Cut Pro X or iMovie) are not coming through (down-mixed as .mov files).
I do have the "include videos" box checked in iTunes; that only serves to bring over the iPhone-created movies, some of which it dropped into the synced album, some of which it decided to put into my videos album.
Anyone out there have any ideas what I could be doing differently? I'd like all my videos in my Aperture album to come across to my iPhone in the same album.
Second smaller issue is that movies I made on my iPhone 5s in slo-mo, though they imported to Aperture in slo-mo, are syncing back to my iPhone 5s in real time, not slo-mo.
    Aperture: 3.5.1
    iPhone: 5s, 8.0.2
    iMac: 10.9.5
    iTunes:  11.4(18)

As a follow-up, I down mixed the video in FCPX using "Apple Devices" 720p. That did not help.

  • Help! I can no longer import photos from iPhoto to Aperture 3 or iPhone

Please help, I have a fully updated Aperture 3, iTunes 9 and iPhone 3G. I arrange my pic's in events in iPhoto and they are all accessible there, at my last iphone sync I noticed that my phone was deleting all my pictures of my iPhone, so I stopped the sync prematurely. Now when I try and import photo's, the event is listed but it states there are no pictures there.
The only thing I can think that I did is "consolidate masters for library" in aperture. I kept photo's "in there current location". Is there anyway to reverse this so I can put my photo's back on my phone??
    Thanks!!

I'm not sure about reversing the process you've described, but you can set up the equivalent structure (make albums in place of your iPhoto events) and use iTunes to synch your iPhone to Aperture instead of iPhoto. If you've decided to do your main work in Aperture this would perhaps be the best way forward.
