IPhone to FCE to video file

I'm having a problem getting an output that is as clear and non-pixellated as the source video file.
I've imported an iPhone 4S video into FCE using the HD AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60 codec. When I get Item Properties in the Browser window I see that the source clip has a Vid Rate of 24 fps, Frame Size of 1920x1080, Compressor H.264, and Pixel Aspect Square. The clip in the timeline (V1) has the same exact properties. I've also tried other import codecs with the same result.
I modify the timeline clip and then do an export. Here's where the problem comes in. I can't seem to get the same quality export as the source directly from the iPhone. I've tried exporting using Quick Time Movie which always results in a frame size of 720x480. I want it to export at 1920 by 1080.
When I try to export Using Quick Time Conversion I can get the 1920x1080 size but the video is pixelated and blurry, no matter what settings I use.
Is there anything I can do to get the same quality output at 1920x1080 as what came off of the iPhone?
Thanks

Not entirely sure what you mean by modify the timelime.
It's a little hard for me to test, but I believe that FCE would be able to handle the 24P clips in a i60 timeline (even if it doesn't support the format).
But do your adjustments (codec only – not frame size) in Compressor ($49) or MPEG Streamclip (free). Convert to AIC and bring transcoded clips into your project. Drop one of the clips into your sequence and you should be good to go. (Double check anyway to confirm that your sequence frame size is 1080).  After editing, export QT movie current settings.
Good luck.

  • IPhone 5s photo and video file size

Does anybody know what the filesize of photos and videos on the iPhone 5s will be?

So that's it then. I ran out to an AT&T store, dropped $550 to do an early upgrade to the 3Gs and re-up my contract for another two years just so I could get the option to send photos via text message/mms and I can't do it because AT&T has a size restriction of 300kb? I spent two days trying to figure out why my text messages wouldn't complete sending. Hardly any of the photos in my photo album are that small. What a total frigging waste of my time and money, yet again.
This whole MMS "improvement" was not thought through thoroughly by Apple and AT&T at all.

  • Unable to Sync Video files after Itunes 9.0.3 and iPhone software update

This is my problem with Itunes- After I the Software Update program installed iTunes 9.0.3 yesterday, and I upgraded the iPhone software (to 3.1.3.) shortly thereafter. The iPhone upgrade failed (it froze). When I restarted the computer, I had to restore the iPhone and then I synced. I could not sync my video files.
The apps, music and "push" items sync perfectly. However, it ignores the Movies, Podcasts and iTunes U files.
In terms of the location for these files, all of my Library and Media files are contained in a firewire external drive. They have been there since I started up with iTunes many years ago. All worked well before the Install/Upgrade.
Problem is- iTunes ignores the pointer in Preferences/Advanced/Location and creates an empty folder, named iTunes in the Music library (in my Home directory) at every sync (even if I delete it, it recreates it on the new sync).
Question-Why does iTunes ignore the pointer, and create a new empty folder in Home?
    Thanks for your help.

Apparently Apple doesn't bother to test their software updates. This problem was introduced last September and has persisted through a number of updates that were supposed to address the bug. Very discouraging. I keeping holding out hope that an iTunes update will eventually fix this feature that worked fine for years before iTunes 9 was introduced.
Unfortunately, it is impractical to go back to an earlier version of iTunes.
I have reported this bugs several times (via iTunes feedback). If Apple actually reads the feedback, they never respond.
It's not like there are other vendors or unknowns involved: current iMac 24, new iPod Touch, the latest version of iTunes and iPod OS.
So what do we have to do to get Apple's attention? Stop buying music? Stop buying Apple devices? I'd love to buy the new iPad, but I'm darned if I will if they are unable or unwilling to fix this bug...

  • Copy video file from iPhone 3GS to windows XP

I have a video on my iPhone which is about 18 mins long and 482MB in size. When I try to copy (from Windows explorer) and paste the file to my Windows XP system, it shows it is trying to copy the file but then nothing happens. It creates a zero byte file on my Windows system.
I even tried the 'scanner and camera wizard'. This program shows the progress bar but when it reaches 100% it gives me the message that 'The current picture cannot be copied. To copy this picture, click "Try Again". To stop copying, click "Cancel".'
I had other video files which copied successfully but were probably half the size of this file.
Could the reason be the file size? If the file size is the restriction, then there is no point in using the video feature to shoot continuous video.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

The size of the file shouldn't make any difference as long as there is room on your PC for it. What I do is use the Camera Wizard and select the open to view files option. From there I just click on the files to locate the video I want to copy and either drag it to where I want it on the PC or copy and paste it there. If it's a larage file it may take a few seconds to copy over.

  • I need to get some video files onto my iphone from a computer that does not have my itunes library on it

Currently I am away from home, and using a computer that does not have my main itunes library on it. I do, however, have some video files on this computer that I would like to place onto my phone for the drive home tomorrow. Unfortunately,  It seems there is no way to do this without completely wiping my iPhone and replacing it with this computers empty library, as the "manage content manually" feature apparently requires me to do this. Is there any way to just add some mp4s to my iphone without erasing all of its data?.

On a Windows PC plugging in your phone will invoke the Autoplay dialog which also gives some options
But only if iTunes is installed on the computer and is paired as a trusted device. Which the OP does not want to do.

Turns out the answer to that question changes if you ask it more than 4 times, so ask it again....
The answer depends on the type of video files you want to convert.  If they are DRM protected commercial videos, no help can be given here.  Google.

  • How can I move a large video file from my iphone ... iMac / PC

I have a large iPhone Video File that I cannot transfer from my iphone to my flashdrive as it is too big.
I realize that I can reformat an empty flash drive using Disk Utilities and I should then be able to transfer the file.
My question:  What do I select when reformating the flash drive so that it will be accepted by both a PC and an iMac?

ExFAT would be the best file system format, as it will handle files greater than 4GB.
If exFAT is not available, go for FAT32.
Just FAT is too limiting, so avoid that

How can I send (by text) a (fairly) large video file from my iPhone 4 without it getting compressed first?
If that's not possible is there a way to uncompress the video file one it is received onto the receiving iPhone?
Or is there a way to sync or transfer a video file from iPhone to iPhone?

  • Import movie from iPhone gives "An unknown error has occurred while reading the video file. Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed. (1)

Tried previous suggestions about purging the Camera Raw Cache and I raised it to 20.0 GB.
Still lightroom fails to read most of the videos that I create on my iPhone 6 plus.
Aperture, iMovie, and Image Capture have no problem with these files.

This is an iPhoto problem. It is, IMHO, one of the worst photo/video programs ever thought up by any company.
I suggest you find your original video files, which won't contain any edits and or adjustment you have made in iPhoto, and copy them to some other folder on your drive that you create and then import them to LR.
Usually iPhoto stores all original image and video files in a folder called Masters buried deep inside the iPhoto Photolibrary package folder. Which makes almost impossible for any normal computer user to get to.
Next time you are in the market for a new computer think long and hard before you drink the Apple Mac Cool-aid.

  • Unable to transfer Video files from iPhone to iPhoto

My daughter's iPhone 5S was stolen and she transferred her 2500+ picture camera roll to her brother's iPhone 4.  Then her laptop died and was transferred to a brand new MAC.  Upon syncing, backing up and restoring her iphone 4 I am finding that I repeatedly get the message.  I have erased and restored her iPhone 3X.
"Error downloading image. iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image"
Now I was thinking the library was damaged, but have rebuilt it 2X.  I then imported individual pictures and they went in fine.
Now what I did notice is that there are 7 small video clips each about 4-10 seconds long that are NOT importing.  In fact, in iPhoto they show up as MOV and do not even show a preview video so I can't tell which videos they are other than by the length of the video.  Sadly with over 2500 files there are many short video clips so I don't know which one's for sure she is unable to get without searching the #@)*^&%)!&^!!!!  iPhoto library and comparing them one by one to see which ones are there.
I also tried importing the video files to a brand new library on the same computer and got the same error.
The same appears to happen going to a brand new library on a DIFFERENT computer.  So I'm pretty sure the problem is with those 7 video files.
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to find and remove this 7 short clips and salvage them for her?  I suppose she could email them to herself.
    Thanks

Sorry, I can see I wasn't clear.  The video files are on the iPhone and I'm guessing they are corrupt.  I've read a number of your forums on checking to see if the problem is with the iPhoto library, but in this case I don't believe that to be true because:
    1. It fails when I create a new library on the same computer.
    2. It fails when I create and attempt to sync on a DIFFERENT computer with which I created a brand new iPhoto library.
    3. These files  (7 of them) actually look different on iPhoto and DO NOT have the preview icon that shows you what it is.  They simply say .mov or something like that.

  • Video Files as email attachments - what formats on iPhone 3Gs ?

    Hi
This may turn out to be a dumb newbie quesiton but what format video files can I play when sent as email attachments?
WMV shows as an attachment with the Qucktime icon but can't download/play
MPG allows you to launch but then says "Movie format is not supported"
Do I need to install a specific player app or is there a setting somewhere that I need to make?... or is this not possible (seems unlikely)
Plays vids on YouTube etc no problem.
    Thanks!
    Iain

  • Can't import big video file from iPhone to Macbook.

I have a big video file I took on my iPhone – 4.9gb – which both iPhoto and image capture wont let me import. Any suggestions how I can import this onto my Macbook?

Perhaps try one of the apps that transfers photos and videos via WiFi between phone and computer. There are several in the App Store.

  • Greyed out video file under TV shows for my iPhone 4S

I have this weird issue on my iPhone 4S when I paused a TV show download then started it again at another time. It made me restart the entire file download. After I removed the episode, I have no video files left on my phone. But in iTunes, I see this in TV shows on my iPhone.
    http://i50.tinypic.com/2qdpgn6.png
I was wondering if there is any way to get rid of this? I can't do much with it other than highlight, rate, get info, see description. Not really a problem. Just bothers me.

I have almost the same problem - except not only do TV Shows appear as greyed out on my iPhone page in iTunes, but on the phone itself only shows I've downloaded through iTunes appear in my Videos app. Every other home video I add is not displayed and can only be found when I search for it.
