IPhone Unlocking ( No Service )

Hello,
I Bought an Iphone from about one year .. and it was factory unlocked i kuwait
after upgrading to 5.1.1 and baseband upgaraded to 4.12.01
now it's locked and giving me an error message ( No Service )
please help i can't use my phone anymore

You purchased a carrier locked iPhone that was hacked to be unlocked. When installing a firmware update on a hacked iPhone or when restoring a hacked iPhone with iTunes, the iPhone is re-locked to the carrier the iPhone was designated for when new.
Only the carrier the iPhone was designated for when new can officially unlock the iPhone. Other than that, call the unofficial retailer you purchased this hacked iPhone from for help with this.

• Iphone 4s "No Service" following recent unlock

Hi there,
I have just obatined a second hand Iphone 4s and wish to use it with my Vodafone SIM. The Iphone was with O2 but I have had this unlocked by the network and completed the correct procedure (connecting to Itunes, restoring Iphone etc) but I'm still having issues with a constant "No Service" restricting my ability to make/receive anything whatsoever. Does anyone have any recomendations to resolve such error (further setting changes etc) or does this sound like a SIM error?
Many Thanks!

• If I have no service is my iPhone unlocked?

So I have an old iPhone 4 that was with AT&T but I changed to T tomblie && got a new phone
But I don't like it so I was wondering since my iPhone has no service is it unlocked? && can I use it for t mobile?

It is not automatically unlocked just because your AT&T contract is over.
AT&T does offer unlocking now. You must be a current or former customer in good standing who was either completed your contract or paid the early termination fee. Or you must provide proof of purchase for a no-commitment iPhone from Apple or AT&T.
Call AT&T and see if it qualifies to be unlocked.

• Where can I buy a NEW iPhone WITHOUT a service plan?

I have an iTouch now, I'm sell it.
I want to have external speakers for apps and alarms.
I do not want iTouch 2nd generation.
I do not currently need it as a phone, but would like to have it for when I am ready.
Is it possible to purchase the latest iPhone without any phone plan? When I go through the steps to purchase an iPhone from apple.com it doesn't have a "no plan" option.
Do other places online / B&M sell iPhones or only apple.com and apple stores? (I do not want a used or refurbished)
Surely I can still get a hold of an NEW iPhone without a service plan... but where and for how much?

You can't buy a new iPhone in the US without a plan. Even if you could buy one, it would not work (even as an iPod) until activated with a cell phone provider. You would have to buy a used iPhone that had been activated. Be sure to get a US model (or one for your country if you aren't in the US). Check the part numbers in the right column of
<http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937>
to make sure it is the correct version for your country.
An officially unlocked one from one of the countries that sell them would also be OK, but any repair would have to be done in its original country. It would have to have been activated in some country, also.

How do i restore my iphone from "no Service". I tried to update my iphone 3G TO iOS 6.0. But it got stuck and now my itunes is displaying Error message: "there is no sim card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate" and my iphone is without service. While i am trying to activate my ihone on wifi also it doesnt saying servers are temporary unavailable try after sometime. Kindly suggest

It sounds a lot like your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it prior to your trying to update it.
If that is the case, it is nowpermanently bricked.

• Got my Iphone unlocked recently and now when inserted new sim, all the apps got wiped out, tried syncing it again from itunes but still it isnt getting installed. Can someone help?

Hi,
Recently I got my Iphone unlocked. Earlier I was using it on ATT n/w. After unlock i am using it in India with a service provider here.
The problem that I am getting is, the phone was able to pick up the network and am able to make calls and messages. Data plan is still to be activated so cant confirm on that, but all the apps that were there on my phone got wiped out on its own. Since I wasnt sure as to what happend, so I reinstalled the apps today morning. I saw the apps getting installed and then left to get ready for my office. after nearly 30 mins I saw nothing was getting syncronized so disconnected the phone and left for Office. On reaching office when I checked for my usual Apps, I could see only the apple apps and none other available there. Need to know whats the issue and how to resolve it. Please can someone help me on this?

I can not get to iPhone screen, so no way to get to Settings. That is the problem. When I connect phone to iTunes I get screen asking to insert SIN card. On the phone I'm getting Cinfigure screen asking Launguage , Country or Region, Wi-Fi, ( I can connect to my home wi-fi), and last screen "Activating your iPhone". After two minutes of waiting IM getting message: Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server in temporary unavailable. try connecting to iTunes or try later or contat apple.com/support.
Like I mention, I went to Bell as well Rogers store and tried to insert active SIM card with no results.

• HT201407 Per the "Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock" instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate.

Received an authorized unlock code from apple/AT&T for my off-contract 3GS (8GB). Per the “Completing Authorized iPhone Unlock” instructions, I connected to iTunes to back up and restore so my iPhone can be unlocked! But after the restore my iPhone is stuck at the activation screen, it will not activate saying “Your iPhone cannot be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable”. I tried this again and again for countless times, no way! I have my old AT&T simcard and other carrier’s simcard. Both will not help. Please help me to activate and start using my phone.

Hello,

• IPhone has no service but signal is strong and wifi available

I am traveling abroad and called my carrier from home to be sure I could get and send texts. My phone says no service but I have wifi in this hotel and my iPad works. iPad is AT&T but iPhone is Verizon.

This isnt really a troubleshooting step for you phone, but an option that may be available to you depending on where your travels have taken you is that you can actually purchase sim cards for a reasonable price that will allow your phone to work using the towers available, just something to think about
-----Also make sure that in your settings that you have the roaming settings set to Voice & Data as well as your international roaming setting turned on, purchasing a local sim card should resolve this issue if verizon has unlocked that service, which from what you have said it sounds like they did, so next i would just go purchase a sim card, see if that works, if/when it does contact verizon to straighten things out

• How do I get my contract free iPhone unlocked from the first network it was connected to?

My husband bought me an iPhone 5 from Carphonewarehouse Wharehouse which was contract free. I then signed up for a sim only contract from EE but was miss sold a service which they do not provide so I have now cancelled that contract. When trying to buy another sim from another provider, the phone is locked to the EE network for which they say I have to contact Apple directly to have the phone unlocked? I have been back and forth on this one and it seems now that my wonderful Xmas present is rendered useless....because it seems that it cannot be unlocked! Does anyone have any ideas how I can solve this?
Apple can you help because I have no idea where to turn to now?

Apple has a extensive list of every iPhone that was made and each phone has its own number. On each number is a code that locks the phone to the service provider. The only way that Apple can change the code to your phone is if it is authorized by the service provider. So you will have to go back to EE and ask them to unlock your phone, and this will probably have an accompanying fee for unlocking as most providers do.
The strange thing is that you bought your iPhone unlocked and it managed to become locked during this process. You should have just been able to put a sim card in from one company and then just put another in from a different without any issues.
When dealing with EE make sure to raise that point if they try to charge you with an unlocking fee.
Unfortunately Apple is not in a position that can help you, they will probably tell you to call your service provider.

• IPhone unlocked by carrier, will Apple replace with an unlocked phone in the event of a warranty replacement?

Hi there.
I use an iPhone with the Canadian provider, Fido. I purchased the phone from Fido and signed up for a 3 year contract in order to recieve the phone at the reduced price. I understand that Fido performs a carrier lock on the phone when you sign up in this way so that the phone can only be used on the Fido network.
At the moment I am in the process of cancelling my contract with Fido and switching over to another provider in Canada. After doing some research, I found out that Fido offers a service where they will unlock your phone from their network when you finish your contract, for a fee. Since I am cancelling my contract and paying the early cancellation penalty, my contract will be satisfied and I will be eligible for the unlock service. My plan is to have my iPhone unlocked by Fido so that I can use the phone with my new provider.
My question is this: If I have my phone legitimately unlocked by my provider, will Apple send me an unlocked phone in the event that their is a hardware failure covered under warranty, and I need a replacement iPhone? All my previous replacement iPhones have been, to my knowledge, locked by Apple back onto my provider before they are sent to me. But, it would be awfully annoying if a replacement phone came to me locked onto an old network that I no longer use.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Are you sure about this? I thought so too, but when I received my replacement iPhone 6, it was locked again.
I bought a carrier locked iPhone. Then it was replaced with another carrier iPhone. This second phone (first replacement) was then unlocked. Later the unlocked iPhone was replaced with a third phone (second replacement). To my disappointment the second iPhone replacement is locked.
The Authorized Service center said that Apple made a mistake and should unlock it remotely ASAP. Apple Support however, says that iPhones are replaced with specifications of the originally initially purchased iPhone. If the original was unlocked, they would replace it with unlocked, but if it was locked then replaced with a locked and then unlocked by carrier. The carrier should be contacted again to unlock future replacements. I know it sounds ridiculous and illogical.
If an iPhone has been unlocked (obviously by a carrier), why would you replace it with a locked iPhone and ask the customer to contact his carrier and request another unlock for the replacement iPhone? So inefficient and could be a problem if the carrier allows only one unlock per year per line like most do, or if you are no longer a customer of that carrier.
Interestingly I found the following on Apple's "Hardware Warranty". Retrieved from: https://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ios-warranty-document-us.html):
"Following warranty service your Apple Product or a replacement device will be returned to you as your Apple Product was configured when originally purchased, subject to applicable updates.”
What I understand from this is that replacements will be configured exactly as the originally purchased including any updates made to it. I believe unlock is considered an update.
Apple Support argues that the second device was unlocked (updated), but the original (initial / first) device was not unlocked. Therefore, I should deal with my old carrier to unlock this one.
How insanely ridiculous is that???

• HK iphone 4, No service in Africa

HK IPHONE 4, NO service in zimbabwe when i put the local sim card

That will be because the iPhone is carrier locked to a HK carrier and will only work on that carrier's network
You could request the HK Carrier to unlock it but it seems none of the HK carriers offer an unlocking service

• My iPhone 5s won't let me set up my fingerprint for touch id as it is not enabling the iphone unlock / itunes

plz help me

Hello umair221,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you have a fingerprint setup with Touch ID but it is not unlocking the iPhone or is able to be used for iTunes purchases.
Those are settings that can individually be enabled or disabled.
(Note you won't have Apple Pay on an iPhone 5s.)
For further troubleshooting, please see the article that came from:
Use Touch ID on iPhone and iPad - Apple Support
Get help with Touch ID
Make sure that you're using the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning. Make sure that your finger touches the metal ring around the Home button.
If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Home button or the surrounding ring. If it does, remove the case or screen protector and try again.
Tap Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on. Also make sure that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
Try enrolling a different finger.
If you can't enroll any of your fingers, take your device to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for help.
* Moisture, lotions, sweat, oils, cuts, or dry skin might affect fingerprint recognition. Certain activities can also temporarily affect fingerprint recognition, including exercising, showering, swimming, cooking, or other conditions or changes that affect your fingerprint.
Take care,

• The Difference between iphone Unlock T-Mobile and iphone Unlock Free-Sim

As mentiond in the title my questions are:-
- What is the Difference between iphone Unlock T-Mobile and iphone Unlock Free-Sim?!
- Did they both work Internationally?!
- For the Unlock T-Mobile should i use their sim or i can use any sim directly?!
Thanks

Unlocked means unlocked and you can use any sim card and keep changing them and the phone will never lock if it is unlocked.
Sim free, means that the phone is sold at full price without a sim card, but the phone will lock to the first sim card that you put in it. A sim free phone will work internationally, but you will have to use a roaming plan with your phone company because the phone will be locked, so you CANNOT change it to a local sim card.
If you have an unlocked phone, you can use it internationally by inserting a local sim card and the phone should then work and you won't have to pay increased roaming charges as you would with a locked phone.
If you buy a T-Mobile phone that is unlocked, DO NOT activate it with their sim card or the phone will lock to T-Mobile and you will have to approach them to get it unlocked. Use it with another sim card straight away and it will remain unlocked.
