IPhone unstable - is it possible to revert to an earlier version of an app?

I've been having issues with my iPhone recently. (original iPhone, os ver 3.1.3) Symptoms include screen freezing, all apps using the internet connection would start then close to the home screen (including Safari, iTunes Store, and App Store), the phone not waking after the top button is pressed, constantly restarting or freezing when trying to start up the phone, lost of contacts, and not able to rebuild the ipod library.
After about 3 hours of trouble shooting (and a few restores), I believe that the apps are the cause of my issue. After one restore, my phone became unstable after I add an app. restored again without apps and everything was ok.
So here's my problem: If it is the apps making my phone unstable, and this also seems to have happened after developers started to update their apps for iOS4 (may be a coincident), I may be able to correct this issue if I can identify which app(s) is affecting the OS (this is a pain since I need to restore my phone each time it becomes unstable) or not use the updated apps (since the phone was working well before.) So, following the second option and since I've already updated my apps, is there any way to revert to previous versions of an app?

Hi dv8kiwi,
Please note that once you have installed Acrobat DC on your machine, it will automatically uninstall any previous version of Acrobat installed on your computer.
You might refer this KB doc link mentioned below to know more details on the same:
Acrobat trial removed previous version
If you still want to downgrade to the previous version, then you will first need to uninstall Acrobat DC and then install Acrobat version you were using previously.
Also, please specify whether you wish to install your previous Acrobat version using Creative Cloud or something else.
Let me know.
Regards,
Anubha

• Problems with reverting to an earlier version

The update with Flash Player was causing problems, so I uninstalled Flash Player 11 and then installed Flash Player 10. But I now have Flash Player 10 Plugin and FlashPlayer 11 Active X on my computer. I am not sure how this happened, but is this OK or is this going to cause me more problems?
Have now just checked again in Control and it also says I now have Adobe 11 plug in. So I guess I am back to where I started.
I saw my original question but could not find out how to attach this question to it. Sorry.

Dear Pat,
Thank you. I have received the exact same reply from Amreso.
I thank you both for your replies. If the problem occurs again, I shall follow your advice.
I just need to pluck up the courage. I get so nervous with the computer when it plays up.
Regards

• Can I revert back to earlier version???

I did the January '08 update (1.1.3) and now I am having all sorts of problems. For starters, I have lost Wi-fi and Blue-tooth (greyed out and unaccessible) and I am sure I will find other things wrong after reading some of the forum posts in here. Rather than doing resets, etc. is there a way to revert back to the earlier version I had before the update?
Thanks,
JD

Hey All,
I did all as instructed in the articles each of you sent to me. I greatly appreciate your taking time to help out. While all other aspects of the phone continued working fine the bluetooth and Wi-fi were still greyed out and unavailable. After talking with Apple tech support (phone was less than 30 days old) they sent me to the nearest Apple store and the phone was replaced with a new (not refurbished) phone without any hassles or debates. I don't know if this is the common experience but I was quite happy with how they treated me. Despite the inconvenience of time lost due to this issue they did respond well and I am still happy with my iphone.
Thanks again for all your help, you're all great!

• At Mozilla's suggestion I reverted to an earlier version of Firefox but it still shows 3.6.12 how do I know which verison I have?

I have filled out crash reports, I have scanned all the questions, I have answered emails from Mozilla, I have deleted almost every Add On--many of which I liked...but only yesterday did I see a notice advising if I was still having problems to revert to an earlier verison of Firefox. The listing only gave me one option--compatible with Windows XP Service Pack II (I am running Windows 7, Home Premium 32 bit). I chose that option and other than having to "Allow Firefox to make changes to this computer" box appearing each time I launch, nothing seems different. I checked under Troubleshooting and the screen form reads I am running 3.6.12 !! (my nemesis).
So what version am I running? Is it still 3.6.12 but set for compatibility with Service Pack II for XP? That doesn't make sense. But Sync won't work still, the same sites show only text, et. etc.I dislike the the format of IE8, but it doesn't crash and it shows all my sites correctly. Is it better to just use that? I was about to download Firefox to my Android, but I think I'll stay with Google

To check your installed version, open FF, go to "Help" and click on "About Mozilla Firefox." The panel that is displayed will show your version.
If it shows 3.6.12, instructions for going back to an older version can be found at
[[kb.mozillazine.org/Go_back_to_an_old_version_of_Firefox#Older_version]]
It will also give you links to two ftp sites with many older versions listed.

• I really dislike iTunes 11. How do I revert to an earlier version?

I really dislike iTunes 11. How do I revert to the previous version (v10.6)?

So I was pi**ed that they removed the Album Art preview. I decided to downgrade. I renamed my iTunes folder within ~/Music. After deleting the 11 .app, I installed 10.7. I ran it and everything seemed fine. It was empty, of course. So I drag and drop all my files over from the old iTunes folder, except iTunes Library.itl. I copied the old one from the Previous folder, renamed it, and started iTunes. Everything looked as it was, even the window was resized like I had it -- but I had a popup window.
"An unknown error occured -42408"
I tried every single solution I could find on the internet and none of them helped it. I work in IT for a living so believe me when I say I tried everything. The only other solutions were upgrade iTunes (lol) or do a full Time Machine restore. I don't feel like restoring my entire computer tonight, so I decided to suck it up and reinstall iTunes 11.
What a ******* nightmare. I can't believe Apple would remove such useful features and not even give you the option to put them back. I guarantee you won't get them back, either. Apple doesn't have a great history of taking stuff away and giving it back. Really regretting my decision to try it out.
Oh yeah, and I had to fix my iPad with the fix provided above. Didn't help my error though. I couldn't authorize or deauthorize my computer. I want to see if I can deauthorize it with iTunes 11 and then try it with 10.7 but I've already messed around with it enough. I just want to have a good night. This pretty much wrecked it.

• How do I turn off automatic save? Or How do I revert to an earlier version of my file?

I just installed Lion. I use numbers, and I wish to revert to an earlier saved version of my numbers file, as I lost data (blank sheet this morning) last night. I did not close the file overnight, but did this morning in an effort to open an earlier version of the file. How do I open an earlier version of my numbers file? Can I do this only if I make continual "running" backups of the file, or is there a way that Lion saves an earlier version a la Time Machine. Thanks much. Vince

• My school's website is not recognizing my new verisign certificate with the latest version of Firefox. Tech supports suggest I revert to an older version of Firefox. How do I revert to an earlier version of 3.6.11?

The school's website recognizes the new certificate but does not accept it. School's tech support suggest to revert to an older version of Firefox. How do I do that?

Try to remove the old certificate. Also check if there are intermediate certificates used and stored.

• I upgraded to iTunes 10.5 and now want to revert to an earlier version.

No that I "upgraded" to iTunes 10.5 I can no longer import CDs. The OS (10.6.8) mounts the CDs as Audio CD, but iTunes will not show it as mounted or import the music. I tried importing on another computer, putting the music on an USB device, but can not import from that either.
I want to revert to an older version of iTunes that works. How can I do that?
Thanks in advance,
Nancy

Software Update is probably checking items in your receipts folder and finding 10.5 listed there.
Can you delete receipts in OSX Library? - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2753899
I don't think you will step up incrementally to where you want to be. Software update will also look at Apple's server and ask it what the latest version of iTunes is that will run on your computer and probably take you straight to 10.5. Unless somebody else knows where it might be hidden I don't think there is a version of 10.4 to be had unless somebody archived it the way I tend to (but I didn't bother since I haven't upgraded since 7.5).
I know this is more after the fact suggestion but I never update when something first comes out even though Software Update presses me to (well, it did until I disabled it after Apple stopped doing any kind of update for my OS). I let everybody else be my tester for a while, then decide. Then I back up my computer and install. And as I said before, I have all kinds of old versions archived on my drive just in case I need to back out (alas not iTunes 10 though).

• I want to revert to an earlier version (than 9) so my Kaspersky feaures run ok

My Kaspersky virtual keyboard and other features no longer work and I want to revert to a previous version of Firefox (Kaspersky has said they would be fixed with an update on 11th Jan, but this is not so).

• How can I revert to an earlier version of Thunderbird? 31.1.2 is giving me bugs.

Thunderbird has been working great for me for years. I'm on a Windows 7 desktop computer.
The new version 31.1.2 got auto-installed yesterday, and now I have the popup window to "Add Security Exception" happening all the time, even with different mail servers (Yahoo and Google). I can't believe that both Yahoo and Google simultaneously had their certificates go out of date. So I think the problem is in Thunderbird.
I've submitted a bug report on Bugzilla, but for now I'd just like to revert back to version 31.1.1 (or whatever preceded 31.1.2). How can I do this?

Well, reverting to 31.1.1 did not fix the problem.
''Did you bother to check why you'd get the exception prompt? There must a reason for it, and I don't think it's due to a bug.''
How would I check?
''So I think the problem is in Thunderbird.''
''What makes you believe that? This forum would be swamped with complaints if that was a general problem. The problem is much more likely on your end. ''
Since the update was very new - and I had done nothing to my knowledge that should have caused the problem, I thought that many people would be seeing the problem.
''I doubt this will fix your problem. Please state what error message you get for the Google and Yahoo certs.''
You were right. I have attached a screen shot of the error message. It's the same for both Yahoo and Google.
I don't get any other message, but Thunderbird has become EXTREMELY slow at downloading new messages.

• With the new version of Firefox I cannot use my Google Toolbar. Can I revert to the earlier version with which the Google Toolbar was compatiable? If so, how do I do it?

I love Firefox but found it more user-friendly when I had my Google Toolbar as well. I want it back and the new version of Firefox does not allow it. Can I revert to the most recent version of Firefox which did allow Google Toolbar and if so how do it do that?

The Google Toolbar "will not be supported on Firefox 5 and future versions."
The Google Toolbar '''7.1.20110512W''' version does work pretty good in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension. But not every feature works 100%.
HI,
Empty the Safari Cache from the Safari Menu Bar more often.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

• I downloaded Firefox 4 which my iBook G4 does not support. How can I revert to the earlier version of Firefox?

A box showed up that said "this architecture does not support Firefox 4." Firefox was no longer available on my laptop. Leopard is my OS. (Highest it will go)

Do you recall whether your iBook G4 could run Firefox 3.6? If so, you can download it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
If you were using 3.5 or earlier, finding it is a bit trickier.
You probably want to backup your profile folder before uninstalling Firefox 4. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20your%20information Backing up your information | How to | Firefox Help].

• My final cut project reverted to an earlier version

I made a lot of changes to my final cut project today and saved the changes frequently. I just came back to my computer, opened my project and it looked like I never sat down at my computer today! I am positive I saved my changes, but the project went back to the original project I had when I first opened it up today. Anyone have an idea what happened or what might have happened?
Thanks

Well.......I don't know if this is right or wrong?
I recently started being concerned about backing-up projects, so this is what I do: put all media and project files on one of my LaCie harddrives.
The new thing I have been doing is coping the project file (.fcp) at the end of the day on my desk top, as my back up. Did this cause the problem and why?
Thanks
