IPhone upgrade to 3.1.2. resets date time - no daylight saving
I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to the new OS: 3.1.2 recently. I noticed the date & time were reset to some time way in the past so I reset them to the current date & time. I notice now there's no way in the Settings | General |Date & Time to automatically have the date & time synced with your PC and the iPhone doesn't take allowance of daylight saving time - I added London as a city for keeping track of my time and the Clock shows it as 10 hours behind Sydney time rather than 11, which would be the case if Sydney was set at daylight saving time.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my iPhone to recognise daylight saving time again? I can't see anywhere on the iPhone or iTunes to do it, I've tried resetting my iPhone. Nothing is working.
I don't see a DST option either. I assume that Set Date & Time automatically did set from the phone network and that would include DST corrections. Mine is correct now and we are on DST here. Manual says:
"Set whether iPhone updates the date and time automatically: Choose General > Date & Time and turn Set Automatically on or off.
If iPhone is set to update the time automatically, it gets the correct time over the cellular network, and updates it for the time zone you’re in.
Some carriers don’t support network time in all locations. If you’re traveling, iPhone may not be able to automatically set the local time."

When wanting to find location information of photos on your iOS device in iOS 8, the online User Guide provides some great information for how to search:
View photos and videos - iPhone
View by location. While viewing by year or by collection, tap . Photos and videos that include location information appear on a map, showing where they were taken.
While viewing a photo or video, tap to show and hide the controls. Swipe left or right to go forward or backward.
Search photos. From Albums or Photos, tap to search by date (month and year), or place (city and state). Search also keeps your Recent Searches on hand and gives you a list of suggested searches.

The date and time have changed to March of 2001 and my iBook has all but quit working. At first it would only boot up to a black screen with a text error message "/system/library/startupitems/Cron-execution of startup script failed". It would not get to my desktop. I booted off of the install disc and used disk utilities to repair permission. Then I rebooted in SAFE MODE. It booted up to my regular desktop after an error message that the clock needs to be reset, but System Preferences comes up only momentarily and then quits before I can reset the clock. I tried to delete the plist but it will not delete no matter what method I use. Appleworks is the only program that will start. I also did the PMU reset procedure as described in the Apple web site. Suggestions?
In Panther (OS X 10.3), you need to choose Installer > Open Disk Utility in order to run Repair Disk. Select the hard drive in the left column. Choose the First Aid tab. Click Repair Disk to test and repair the hard drive.
Once you have repaired the hard drive with the Install disc's Disk Utility, then start up normally and repair permissions from Disk Utility in the Utilities folder on the hard drive again.
If problems persist with the clock, try resetting the PMU again with the reset button:
• If the computer is on, turn it off.
• Disconnect the AC power adapter.
• Remove the battery.
• Press and release the reset button located above the Audio/Video port on the left side of the iBook (Dual USB) computer by inserting the end of a paper clip into the small hole and gently pressing the switch once.
• Wait 5 seconds.
• Reconnect the AC power adapter.
• Put the battery back in the computer.
• Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
If you continue to have problems with the time, go to Finder > Your Short User Name > Library > Preferences and drag the com.apple.systempreferences.plist to the desktop.
Restart and see if you can now set the clock. You will have to reset your preferences. -

If I set my iPhone to Set Automatically (On) under the Date & Time Setting, should it not show the time zone city where I currently am located? My problem is that I am sitting in Phoenix, and the zone displayed is Denver. This will be a problem come daylight savings time, because Arizona does not change. I understand I need the On setting to correct my calendar times as I travel, and to update the time to my current location. How do I correct the automatic setting from Denver to Phoenix?

Looked at solutions and all point to a clock issue or a daylight saving and winter times. Outlook operating time is directly from the Windows clock that incudes the change of times for daylight saving etc. It is set for UTC Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisban, London with daylight saving included in the options. I can't see what I can do.

I recently upgraded from my iPhone 3 to iPhone 4s. My old iPhone had not completed a sync in some time because of a faulty cable. But the old phone still will not sync properly even with the new cable.
Now that I have my new iPhone, I would like to first sync the old phone so all the data will be available for the new phone. I would also like to have an extra copy of my audio ebooks on the old iPhone so my husband and I can both listen at the same time using earphones while driving long distances in the car and then discuss the book. We have been unable to do this with the old iPhone alone due to constant road noise.I'm not sure what made the difference, but I tried again and it worked this time. ???????????

i cant download apps throgh wifi on my iphone however when i connect to cellular data it starts downloading. then what is wrong over wifi , i tried reset network setting but i didnt help
Definitely sounds like an issue with your Wi-Fi network. Do any other devices on the network have similar issues? Is it an issue only with downloading apps? You can check by trying to load a website in Safari.
I would try turning your Wi-Fi router off for 1 minute, and back on again.
After doing that, disconnect and re-join the Wi-Fi network on your iPhone and try downloading an app again. -
Dear wise & wondeful people:
How can I get missing contacts, notes, calendar dates and reminders that are just on my old iphone onto the iCloud for transfer to my new iPhone upgrade? Half of my contacts, notes, ect. were on my iCloud so have happily moved to my new iPhone but the rest are completely resistant. For example, on my iCloud I have 14 missing contacts starting with the letter A alone, however they are happily viewable on my old iPhone 4S and won't budge over into the iCloud.
There are also 3 notes missing yet still acessible on my onld iPhone 4S, the list goes on.
Your help would be most appreciated. Thank you so much.

I made a new Apple ID and I want to delete my iCloud account on my iPhone, will it delete only documents or data or it will reset my whole iPhone, like deleting my apps, contacts. Please I need your help.
All you have to do is this: Sync your 3GS to create a current backup. Then either: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings or restore it as a "New" device in iTunes. Both accomplish the same thing, erasing all of your data & settings from the phone. You can now give it to your sister, she can plug it into her computer, name it what she wants & sync her content to it. You then restore your 4S from the backup of the 3GS you created when you started. Follow this by syncing your content to your new phone & your 4S will look just like your 3GS.

Since 8th May , after updating the iphone software to 5.1.1 I am not able to synchronize my iPhone with iTunes. I have tried both options .. back up on this computer and also back up on icloud.
The backingup is fine .. there is no problem .. even synchronizing songs , applications , calender , mail accounts is fine .. only the contacs are not synchronizing. The itune goes on and on .. showing synchronizing contacs .. but nothing happens. When i uncheck contacts synchronisation .. everything works fine . I have also reorganized my address book . but it does not help -
I bought an i phone 4S unlocked from apple store in new york in april 2012. i live in India an travel lot. I upgraded the operating system to I07 recently From then on my phone goes off, reboots, again goes off, reboots several times in a day. sometime, when it works, it works properly. but is not reliable. it is not under warranty. Reset both devices ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset. -
