IPhone upgrade wiped out all purchased apps...help!!

hi, I just downloaded and installed the new IOS to my iPhone. The download has wiped all of my purchased apps. I've managed to get one or two of them back, but the most expensive one, which I purchased outside of the UK, is nowhere to be found. It's not on my purchased apps section in iTunes, and when I signed in it said something about the account only being valid for the UK. Doesn't that seem a little draconian to be an excuse to delete the apps I purchased in Australia?
Anyone got any advice on how to get it back?
Cheers

did you find a solution to this? same thing happened to me last night. a couple of apps are there. everything else is gone (free and paid)...sickening. I'm not a techie at all...when first plugged in my phone the screens showed all apps but only like a shadow... but only those two apps were "there"...so when it did the "backup" it just grabbed those two. now thats all I have. Does the app store have a history of purchases/downloads? Having trouble with all  apple "helps" ...I mistakenly always thought "sinc" meant that it was backing up my phone data to my computer. NOW I have ICloud , but NOW I have pretty much nothing left on the phone to be backed up. Oh yeah, it's still a phone.

If you update via iTunes and synced media like apps and music are not in your iTunes library they will be lost.
You can always redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I upgraded my ipad and it wiped out all my apps, music, photos, everything.  It won't sync with my computer either.  No content transfers. What to do?

After upgrading my iPad 1 to 5.0 OS it seemed to reboot and set my system back to the factory default.  I lost all my music, photos, and apps.  What the heck did I do wrong?  How do I get them back?  Nothing transfers when I sync.

Just experienced the same problem. If there was fine print saying "by the way we'll wipe out all our apps and content in your tools" I must have missed it.

  • 3.12 Upgrade Wiped Out All Media Content, Left Apps

After being denied too many apps in the App Store b/c they required the new OS, I finally upgraded to 3.12 late last night. It took a while but the upgrade went smoothly. Before disconnecting the Touch from iTunes I verified that all the content (music, videos, etc.) were still there and that the space available was around 1GB.
Turned on the Touch this morning and ALL my music and videos are gone. Apps all still work fine, as does WiFi. Checked in Settings on the Touch and it says I have only 1GB space remaining. So it's as if the music/videos are still there but they are nowhere to be found. I'm on a trip for the holiday and can't resync with my computer; tried hard restart and nada.

I upgraded over the weekend and had the exact same thing happen to me.  I lost months worth of data from my Goodnotes app.  Very upset and I can't believe that it isn't stored somewhere.  I followed all the prompts.  Yes I should have been backing up but I had a similar issue with my iphone where I tried to upgrade and lost all my data so I was hesitant upgrading my ipad.  I though no way it could happen twice. Boy was I wrong.  Please let me know if you find any help on this issue.

  • IOS 5 wiped out all my apps

I guess it might be an abnormalty but when upgrading to iOS 5 over iTunes connected to my PC today, the upgrade process went haywire.
When installing the update, it suddenly said restoring to factory settings, and then tried to restore from a previous backup.
When that was said and done, another progress bar popup came up saying restoring apps, but the iPhone was back up and ready to use, with the setup guide.
I went through the setup guide, but found that a majority of my apps were gone.
The restoring apps popup never got anywhere, and ultimately I had to kill it.
Now I have iOS 5, but many of my apps and all of my music, videos and photos are not there.
Could it be because of the extra space required by iOS 5 that pushed my device over the edge and the restore failed midway?

I had the same problem.  I have done other upgrades without problem and all the apps came back.  This time upgrading my 4GS phone with 5.0,  I did as before.  But instead of adding all my 130 so apps, only a few of the apps were included. That is the odd thing is that apps like Loopt or GTalk and other Google apps came but over but not other apps.
I can see the apps in iTunes and I know I can Synch - but none of the data I have in the apps will come over like user names, passwords, notes, dates, and so on.
Can anyone give me a trick or idea of how to get the apps back.
I have done 3 Restores (the 2nd Restore got my contacts back - they were gone). This is definitely by far my worst experience with an iPhone upgrage.  Right after Steve left us...

  • HT1222 i just did this update for my iPhone and it has wiped out all my apps, etc.  how do i access the backup for my phone so all is not lost?

I uploaded the 5.1.1 iphone update.  It seems to have wiped my phone clean of apps, contacts, notes, etc.  How do I get them back?

    Restore from a backup.
apps you can get it back by either syncing with itunes, or on your phone app store - update - purchased - all or not on this phone, select the app you want by clicking on the cloud next to it.

  • Why has my syc just wiped out all my apps?

I have just paid for a replacement 3G phone.  Backed it up from work computer and synced fine.  Took it home, synced again.  All apps apart from the once that come with the iphone wiped.  Why would the home computer backup of the old phone's apps not work as the work one did?

The apps themselves are not stored in the backup your phone makes to iTunes. Any time you sync your phone with a computer you get exactly what content (apps, music, etc.) that are in that itunes library. Chances are, your apps are just not on hyour home computer while they are in your work itunes library.
It's important to remember that you can only sync your phone with one computer at a time. If you want to use your home computer to sync you'll want to download your itunes purchases there before you do, that way they'll sync into the phone. Follow the steps in this article to download your purchases from iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • Deleting my iCloud account from my iPhone has wiped out all my contacts.

Is this supposed to happen? I was led to believe that the cloud was a separate place for storing duplicated info if your device ever got lost/damaged and not THE ONE AND ONLY place where stuff gets stored. I was getting fed up of deleting unwanted and duplicated contacts over and over again so I thought closing my iCloud account would stop unwanted contacts appearing again. Now Im too afraid of updating my iPad for fear of my contacts disappearing from there too.

iCloud contacts are stored in iCloud. If you sign out of iCloud (remove the account from your phone) you are asked if you want to keep or delete your contacts from your phone. Which option did you choose?
Deleting the iCloud account does not delete your contacts from iCloud. If you sign back into iCloud all contacts stored there will reappear on your phone.
iCloud is not a separate place for storing duplicated info. It is the master place your contacts and calendars etc are stored and each of your devices/computers uses that master data.

  • HT4528 i have a verizon iphone 3G; apple recently upgraded the operating system.  PROBLEM: calendar has wiped out all entries and i am unable to add new entries.  Help!

have verizon iphone 3g; recent upgrade of operating system.  suddenly calendar has wiped out all entries and am unable to add new ones.

Please define "tried to add the Image"?
OS Installer Packages do not point to "images". They point to the complete set of source files including the directory structure from the media.
Is there a specific reason you are using OS Installer packages though? In general, there is no reason to use them anymore (unless you are actually still deploying XP).

  • Is there a way to find out all the apps that I've deleted on my iPhone? If so how?

Is there a way to find out all the apps that I have deleted on my iPhone ? If so how?
And all so if I have cleared my history on safari but not in the settings is there a way to retrieve the last sites visited? If so how?
    Thanks.

    What is iOS 5 ?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1521
And does my iPhone 4 as that?
    Settings>>General>>About>>Version
    (Used my iTouch as example)
And if it deos how can I see the apps that I've deleted ?
    App Store>>Updates>>Purchased
Scroll through the list of apps that your purchased, and if you remember the apps that you delete, the search will be a lot easier.
If you don't have iOS 5, you can update your iPhone and since you have an iPhone 4, you can only go up to iOS 6.1.3

    Hope all this helps.

  • My very expensive 2010 MacBook Pro hard drive died over a year ago (never bothered to fix it as the dvd drive had also failed so not worth it).   Nevertheless, I finally decided to sync my iPhone to the replacement laptop pc and it wiped out all the music

My very expensive 2010 MacBook Pro hard drive died over a year ago. I finally synced my iPhone to the replacement laptop pc and it wiped out all the music on the phone including most of the purchases. Can I get the music back (restore didn't help)?

Okay, I finally got the couple of songs left on the phone to play by uninstalling and reinstalling itunes on the pc and re syncing. The last version I installed (just prior to my original post) failed to start due to some unspecified error?!?. Great!. But I still couldn't sync the itunes purchases from the PC to the iPhone. Then, after about an hour of googling and reading assorted posts mostly about using google to resolve the issue, I finally figured out that I have to actually download ALL the purchased albums from iCloud back onto the iPhone! There are hundreds of them, and some are not even available anymore.
Why do I have to do that when I originally purchased and downloaded all the music to the phone? Why are they all on the PC to begin with and why won't they go to the phone via the USB cable? Why didn't all the music get wiped out on the phone when I synced with the dodgy itunes I had to uninstall. never mind.
I accept that all my original music from cds and shared collections is gone on the failed mbp hard drive, but how come this once okay experience has become a trauma? Hundreds of songs to download all over again, sheesh, this has not exactlybeen a "That Was Easy" experience guys.

  • Hi, I have an iphone 3GS from HK. After upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 as prompted by itunes on May 10, 2011 my entire contact in my iphone was wiped out! When I checked my backup file in Outlook Express it was also wiped out!!! What can I do now?

Hi, I have an iphone 3GS purchased in HK. After upgrading to 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 as prompted by itunes on May 10, 2011 my entire contact in my iphone was wiped out. When I checked my backed up file in Outlook Express, it was also wiped out during the synchronization. I tried to restore from backup on iTunes but still, the contact was not there anymore. I have contacted your HK Apple Hotline and talked to a technical support called TIMMY LO, he said there is nothing to do with them and he refused to provide any support to recover my contact, he even said I should try to pay extra money to 3rd party supplier and see what they can do to my iphone, despite the fact that this could be caused by the pre-mature release of 4.3.3 when a bug still hasn't been fixed. I am very disappointed at Apple's service, especially considering that I have been a loyal customer of iphone / ipod touch in the past few years. I need an official reply from Apple on this! How can Apple be so irresponsible to their own firmware failure??

I tried to contact support but they do not recognise my Thai phone number.
the Thai support site is all in Thai (and I neither read or write it).
All I want is a single email address that works - it must be quite a simple process.
I don't want to create another account with another credit card - life will just get seriously complicated then.
BTW my apple I'd is accepted for downloading free apps!!!

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.
    What computer do you have?
