IPhone using Exchange slow to sync changes made in Apple Mail

I searched but didn't see anyone with this particular problem.
When I make a change on my Mac in Mail, say deleting a message from my inbox or moving to another folder, it usually takes hours before that change finally syncs and shows up in my iPhone.
However, there is no problem the other direction. If I move or delete a message on the phone, the change shows up on my phone within one minute.
Any idea why this would be? I hate having junk I've already deleted still on my phone for hours before it goes away! Anyone else seen this issue? Thanks!

Do you mean a change made on your iPhone is reflected with the Mail.app on your Mac within a minute?
I don't access an Exchange account. I have no problem with this in either direction with my MobileMe account.
Are you accessing your Exhange account as an IMAP account with the Mail.app on your Mac and are you are accessing your Exchange account via ActiveSync with the iPhone's mail client?
If so, not sure this would make any difference, but it might.

Sync local email folders, Apple Mail

Hi,
I'd like to synchronize local email folders between two Macs with Chronosync.
Both Macs running OS X Yosemite and Mail 8.2.
As far as I know until now, I have to sync the folder Home/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/"folder name".mbox
But there are a few other things that must be synced, but I am not sure which ones.
1. Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail-shared.plist
2. Home/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail.plist
3. Home/Library/Mail/V2/Maildata/Envelope Index
Which ones of these three, or something else or different?
Why has the name of the plist in the Preferences folder changed from "com.apple.mail" to "com.apple.mail-shared"?
I don't need any information about the benefits of IMAP, I only want to synchronize my local email folders.

Gmail on iPhone4 not syncing with Gmail on apple Mail

Hi. iPhone newb here.
I have a gmail account that I access through apple mail. I just got a new iPhone4 and set up my gmail account on it. My problem is that the two don't seem to sync up. When I read or delete an email on apple mail on my home computer, it doesn't get marked as read or deleted on my iPhone.
Is there a way to resolve this? It's annoying to have to manually keep them both consistent.

You need to change your Gmail settings from POP to IMAP (on the Gmail website). AFTER you have made this change, delete the Gmail account from your iPhone and then re-add it. You will need to do the same delete/re-add on your laptop.
After doing these steps, your iPhone, laptop, and webmail should all be in sync with each other.

Has mail changed so that Apple Mail is deciding to make all new email accounts IMAP?

I am unable to create a POP mail account on my computer or my iPhone today. I have 8 other email pop accounts with the same server. Trying today to replicate the same steps with a ninth email account, APPLE Mail is deciding that it is IMAP, and will NOT let me revise the "account type".
Does anyone know if this is a system-wide change effecting new email accounts within the past few days?

You should be adding the Mail accounts by using System Preferences', Internet Accounts.

How do I change name of Apple Mail

I was calibrating the battery of my MBP and let the battery drain. It went black and then the screen lit up again and then died. It didn't go to sleep. I was working in Mail. I had to restart my computer and my Mail was messed up. I called Apple support and the first technician I talked to told me to restore the application Mail from Time Machine. I did but fortunately kept my original Mail application which is now called Mail (original). The restored mail wasn't functional. The technician called a senior representative who helped me restore my mail.
Now I start Mail with the Mail Icon in my dock which says Mail (original) when I mouse over it.
I trashed the new Mail, which has a Unix file inside it but nothing to double-click and start Mail.
I tried selecting Mail (original) in my applications folder but it doesn't let me change it back to Mail.
How do I change it back to Mail? Does it matter? I don't want any problems the day there is an upgrade for Mail.

Reinstall applications from your Snow Leopard disc.
Insert the Snow Leopard install disk. Open the Optional Installs folder, then open Optional Installs.mpkg
An Installer will start... click Continue. When you get to the Installation Type in the window on the right you will see: Applications. Click the Disclosure triangle so it faces down. Select the Mail application then click Continue.
Before you do anything else, repair disk permissions.
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. *Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.*

HT204053 I want to change the apple ID for iCloud in my iPhone so that it's the same ID used with my iPad and Mac. When I go to settings and iCloud in the iPhone, it won't let me change the current apple ID - how can I do this?

I'm hoping to sync iCal via my four apple devices through the iCloud.
Unfortunately, I used two different Apple IDs when setting up the iCloud accounts on the devices.
How can I change the Aplle ID associated with my iPhone so that it's the same one used for my iPad and desktop?
When I go to settings and iCloud in the iPhone, the apple ID that appears is greyed-out and will not let me click on it to change it.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the other ID. When you delete the account it will prompt you about what to do with the iCloud data. If you need to migrate it and merge it with the data in the new account choose Keep on My iDevice; then choose Merge to upload the data and merge it with the new account. If your data is already in the other account and you don't need to migrate it to the other account, choose Delete from My iDevice.

I have successfully changed my apple account using my iphone. Can i now just plug my iphone into my pc using the itunes account in my husbands name (this used to be my apple id too) or do I need to set up a whole new itunes in my name and download all music etc to that from scratch...........i am not very technical so very basic answers would be appreciated!!

ICal on Mac will not sync changes made in Mobileme or my phone via Mobileme

I cannot get iCal to accept any calendar changes from Mobile to my laptop. Only events created, deleted or edited on my laptop with iCal are syncing correctly. I've tried creating/deleting from my iphone. The events show up on my mobileme calendar on the web. But when I sync my laptop, the changes do not show up. This renders my phone calendar useless for calendar management

Is it really possible for your company to wipe your iPhone using exchange?

I'm curious to know if it's actually possilble for a company to erase your iphone remotely via microsoft exchange. I have my devices backed up, so I'm not worried if they do, i'm just curious if it's possible.

Older songs cannot be accessed due to a previous Apple ID than that used now. Can I change my old Apple ID songs to my new Apple ID so they will be authorized to play?

My daughter started her itunes several years ago with a Apple ID(e-mail). Then she changed computers and started another Apple ID(e-mail). She has since aquired many more songs and videos. Her itunes shows old and new songs, but all the ones that were aquired with her original account cannot be accessed. The promt says they are not authorized. Can these old songs be authorized with her new Apple ID so they can be accessed and solve this problem forever?

If your iCloud account is the same Apple ID as the one you've changed then you will have to sign out completely (on an iPhone it's Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account' - silly labeling: it will not delete the account from the server, only from the phone). Then you can log in with the new ID.
If your iCloud account is using a different ID from the one you've changed you can't change it to use the same login. You can change the login, provided it isn't an @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com address, at http://appleid.apple.com

why are there no account options. Okay - I fixed it. Here's what I did.
- Deleted the entire mail folder inside my Preferences folder. ~/Library/<userfolder>
- Kept the files in the trash just in case, but didn't need them
- Rebooted
- Opened the System Preferences
- Selected "Mail, Contacts & Calendars"
- Verified the previous account was gone
- Clicked Create
- Created a new account and then opened Mail
- Voila! Email
Note - if you trash the mail folder inside Preferences, it will delete any local emails. All my email is IMAP and I never store anything locally, so everything syched right back when the account was recreated.

I cannot get either Aperture or iPhoto to email jpegs. I use gmail but there seems to be a problem with server selection or identification and passwords that I cannot figure out. Please note that I am not particularly competent technologically, so please use baby steps in your explanation.

Helps if you tell us the exact error message you get but you
1. Need to select your preferred method of emailing (Mail, iPhoto, Aperture, whatever) in the Preferenes
2. If you're getting password not recognised messages, then delete your account from whatever email method you are using and re enter it.
