IPhone VAT REFUND

I'm an Asian student who studying in uk during 2014/2015
if i pre-order an iPhone 6 online or buy it at apple retail store , and I'm leaving uk at June or July 2015 how could I get the VAT REFUND ?

Usually those refunds are only made if you leave the country within 30 days of purchase, but you'll have to inquire there. We don't know the UK's policy on VAT refunds.

  • IPhone 4 VAT refund query

    Hi,
I'm from India, & will be buying iPhone (sim-free) in UK, during my visit to UK in August.
I had some query regarding VAT refund for my iPhone 4:
I called up 2 UK stores, regarding the same, but couldn't get them resolved !
    1. There's a 17.5% VAT on iphone purchase,
Bath, South gate store told me, they refund the VAT at store itself, Where else Regent street store told me, i have to get it at the Airport ?
    2. Do i get full 17.5% refund, or is there a Admin charge on this refund,
Bath, South gate store told, there's no Admin charge, where as Regent street store told me, that VAT refund gets reduced to 13%, due to some Admin charge !
    Kindly answer these queries.

Hey, I just checked the HMRC website and it does say
"First, you need to choose a shop that operates the VAT Retail Export Scheme. It's a voluntary scheme and not all shops operate it, so you need to check before you buy anything."
So you'll need to double check the Apple store you plan on visiting does operate the VAT scheme.
    It also says;
"You may not get all the VAT back. The retailer and/or the refund company may make a charge to cover the cost of handling your form. If they do, this will be deducted from your refund before you receive it."
So it does appear the reduction to 13% due to the handling charge may be legitimate.

  • VAT refund in shipping

Im going to visit London in two weeks from now and I want to buy an iPhone 6. I want to order the iPhone through shipping. Can I get the form of the VAT refund in my shipping?

No Apple don't ship internationally or subscribe to the tourist VAT refund docket system.
The later is because iPhones are priced and warranted ONLY within the Domain of sale (only within the EU are they obliged to provide limited cross border warrantees by EU law)
Other Apple gear can be bought at some airside stores for export outside the EU VAT free .

If the ipod is still under warranty and Apple determines it to be defective then they will replace.

When I go to europe and head back to the states I can go to customs at their airport i.e france, italy or germany and get VAT refund for all the purchases I made. It does not work the other way around. purchase in the US heading back to europe as far as I know but you can ask US customs at the airport if they do such thing, just make sure you have copies of your receipts.

  • VAT refund for buying ipad online in uk?

I want to buy a ipad online and my question is: can I get a vat refund form for this item? I will go back to asia in next month.

Goods you can claim refunds for
You can obtain VAT refunds for anything on which you pay VAT in the UK apart from the following:
    new or used cars
a boat you plan to sail outside the EU
goods worth more than £600 exported for business purposes
goods to be exported as freight
goods that need an export licence - except antiques
    unmounted gemstones
bullion over 125g, 2.75 troy ounces or ten Tolas
mail order goods, including Internet sales
goods used or partly used in the EU, such as perfume
service charges, such as hotel expenses
So, NO, you cannot get a VAT refund for an Internet purchase of your iDevice.

  • Do i get VAT refund if buy macbook here online and plan to go back to my country soon?

As VAT refund is the policy for tourists in thailand, so if i buy a macbook Pro here online (as i have to config). will i get VAT refund? And if yes, how would i get the form?

Go back and ask them to do it right ... re-installling ML, then copy ONLY DATA this time from Lion to ML.
If you prefer to have rights to an ML download to use on other Macs in the household, then you may ask for a free copy of ML instead and upgrade yourself.

  • How can I get a VAT refund for my iphone 6

I just bought an iphone 6 at the store. I got the tax refund form and I am pretty sure that I am eligible to get the tax refund at the airport. The only problem is that I am not sure whether I can activate now or I have to wait after getting the refund to activate my phone. Do I have to keep my phone in box to get the tax refund?

    Because I found this
You can claim for anything you buy
    from a participating retailers which
has VAT included in the price, except
    for the following:
    • Consumable goods you’ve already
    started using
And I'm not sure if the iphone is under the above category or not.

  • I am based in the Channel Islands and want VAT refunded

I'm based in Jersey, Channel Islands, which is 0 rated for VAT so would like the VAT on my monthly subscription refunded. How do I get that to happen as over the year it will total £60 of unnecessary expenditure.

Hi Thanks all and dear SK,
I sort of got an answer and no I havent got a refund yet.
Essentially, because we are not part of the EU in the Channel Islands, we're classed in a peculiar bracket of what I can only call "rogue" states and in theory, we shouldn't have the adobe suite as they wont sell it to us! in order to get a refund you'd have to buy the software from a licensed reseller in the UK and then get the refund of the VAT from them - BUT I havent worked out in practice how that would work and as I've already set up my account for the CC suite, I'm not entirely sure if that would mean I'd have to cancel it all and re-start.
Basically, I've been very busy with work recently and haven't pursued the matter any further - but do let me know you get any further.
    Kind regards,
    Matthew

  • Student from UK buying Apple Macbook can get VAT refund?

I'm deciding to purchase a MacBook Pro (either in-store or online). I will be using student discount also, so is there a way to claim back the VAT?
    Thanks very much
    Sash

No, only VAT registered businesses (or other organisations) can claim back VAT.  Individuals cannot, sadly!

  • Wanna know if it unlocked & VAT

    Hi every body ..
I do plan to buy a new ipone4 from UK, i wanna know if it unlocked or no because i am from Kuwait and what a bout the VAT refund ?
    Regards Hamad

I believe this to be correct, as many people have reported their apple store bought iPhones being locked. However to order online you will require a UK billed credit card and a UK delivery address.
With the VAT part I think you will be issued a form to submit to customs to claim it back as you exit the country, has been a while since I worked in retail though.

  • Iphone 4 network inconsistent help !!!

I bought an iphone 4 from Singapore a week back. I went to an apple studio and they informed me that i could only buy online since I was not a local resident so I was directed to a mobile phone shop at Simlim tower. I paid over USD 800. I had to pay 140 SIN dollar extra for sim registration as the shop informed me that the micro sim needs to be registered else I wouldnt be able to use else where and it was SIN dollar 140 per sim.I agreed to that too not wanting to get an illegally unlocked phone - I wanted to pay little extra but get a good product since our country dont have access at apple facilities.
I was informed that the phone was registered and can be upgraded on line and had apple warranty world wide for a year.I was asked to get a formal receipt from the shop and claim VAT refund at the airport and I was informed that would be my warranty receipt.I did that too to get the warranty.
The shop looked reputed on the first floor of simlim tower. The first phone I got from that shop had no sound so the shop replaced that and then I was told if i had any problem with that replaced phone to go to an apple shop for warranty services or replacement.
No my frustrations began.. after I got back to Bangkok I put the sim but the network was not consistent,it would come and go at frequent intervals, network would come and again after a while network dissapears and says no service, all my calls would go to voice mail and call back service.
I went to applie i studio at Bangkok since I was told It had world wide warranty. They refused and said I would have to go back to singapore to get a replacement,I tried all through help online, restored, set to automatic carrier setting, used a rubber bumper but still the same. Even if I just leave it on the table untouched the network signal would go.I have installed IOS 4.3.3
Please help, what should I do .. too expensive for to me go back to singapore again just to replace the and the shop clearly told me if I had any problem to go to the apple shop world wide for replacement.I have a receipt from that shop for any authentication.
    What should I do?
I have a valid receipt of that shop with registered VAT refund so I am sure the Singapore Government ( very reputed, disciplined and organized ) wouldnt allow that, so I feel they werent cheating.
    Apple please help clarify advise.

  • Frustration! Refund for apps that don't do what they are supposed to?

How quickly a $2 app turns into a $50 waste of time!
I purchased a $2 unit converter app to use at work and whenever else I needed it. After playing with it for about 20-30 minutes, I realized that there were several calculation errors. The unit converter simply didn't do correct conversions! (1 foot equals 11.986 inches!?) Now, If I'm noticing some simple conversion errors myself, how many conversion errors are happening that I don't realize? Needless to say, this app is useless to me because I can't trust its data.
So I contacted the dev, and even got a response within a day. I sent a second message where I had done a lot of troubleshooting for them, hoping they could correct the problems. Nothing. No update, no response, nothing.
So this brings me to my question... how can you get a refund for an app that doesn't do what it is supposed to do?
Yes, yes, I realize the "all sales are final" thing. But this is where Apple's usual high level of customer service fails. Am I supposed to buy apps on blind faith that they work, knowing there is no refund? If I was assured that someone was testing these apps and assuring me that they do what they are supposed to, then okay. But that's not happening.
Oh, wait... read reviews before buying? How is that possible for new(er) apps? If nobody buys it because they are waiting for reviews, then nobody can review it. I'd hate to be a dev and make a great app and have nobody buy it because they were afraid it wouldn't work.
Not all apps have free/lite/trial versions.
If this "no refund" policy is to be fair, then there needs to be demo or trial periods on all apps, to be certain that they actually do what they are supposed to! Until then, I want my $2 back so I can buy a unit converter that doesn't have calculation errors. I won't hold my breath for that... or for the ~$50 of my time wasted testing someone else’s app to no avail, and trying to find a contact source for Apple to request a refund.

I do see where you are coming from.
However I'm just personally against people buying something with the intent of taking it back and that's what would worry me here. I'm talking about girls I know who buy 4 dresses to take home and try out (and perhaps wear) and then take some or all of them back. Now that's one way to shop but I don't agree with it as I think it makes it more expensive for the rest of us as there is a cost involved in customer service and repackaging returned items. Note that is an example and I don't particularly care about buying dresses myself - except on Fridays when I log on as BettyDP
And you mention you only want this for broken apps (i.e. ones that fail to deliver what the are for), rather than apps you bought and decided you didn't like/need. But this is a fine line and some people would use such a system to try to claim money back on an app they bought and thought wasn't that good, even if it did what it said. So who's to judge where that line is? And to have Apple employing people to make that call would push up the cost to all the apps.
Now you genuinely have an issue with this particular app and, in my opinion, deserve your money back. However if you buy 100s of apps and end up wanting your money back on a large proportion of them then I do not agree with you, for the above reasons. When spending money, in my opinion, you should do your research and read reviews to make sure it suits. Sometimes, for a new app, you can't do as much in which case you either take a risk or hope you can get your money back if it doesn't suit. Yes, an item sold should do what it says to meet basic trading standards (and otherwise it's basically fraud), but, IMHO, there should also be a level of caveat emptor (buyer beware).
Ultimately, for $2, I personally would probably chalk it up to experience and not try to reclaim it - thinking that the time spent trying to claim it back would be more hassle than it's worth. But then maybe that's just me.
Now your demo point is a good one. Some app developers make a demo or lite version of their app to give you a free preview. That's their choice and not something Apple enforces and they think the extra coding to make this version is worth it in that it hopefully will drive up more sales. I agree it would be nice if Apple put some funky time limit on ALL apps so developers don't have to do this, and so you get it for free for 24hours to trial. It would certainly help in your situation and I myself would also find this useful.
Finally the time you spent debugging the app is your time. You didn't need to do that and I don't think that's really that relevant here (I presume you aren't expecting to get you $2 back AND some extra because you spent some time fiddling with it?)
Anyway, now I've made my opinion known (which you are perfectly entitled to disagree with), I'll get off my high horse and actually point you out to something helpful:
    http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2009/07/09/iphone-app-refund/
(note I did read your comment about this form not working but I'd say try it again later or on another browser).
Also note the interesting comments on this link which give more reasons (from a Developers point of view) why this is possibly a bad idea...

  • Online Store tax refund?

hi. i bought iphone5 on Online Store(germany). And German airport customs approved online bill. Customs said that I have to send it. and now what should i do? how do i get tax refund?

The German Apple Store does say that you can apply for a VAT refund but doesn't detail the process. Someone else here may have been through the process and be able to provide details, but if not, you'll have to call the Apple Store in Germany and ask them how to submit.

  • Newly opened Iphone 5 64G has dead pixels!!

    Hi,
I bought Iphone 5 64G in Singapore and when I opened the phone, I noticed that there are 4 vertical lines on the upper left portion of the screen. It becomes more visible if the background is white. I believe these are dead pixels. I am from Philippines and now I would like to send it to apple for warranty. Can I have it replaced/repaired here in the Philippines? Thanks!

If you bought your iPhone from Apple directly and are within Apple's return period - 30 days in most countries - then you should be able to return the iPhone for refund and then can buy the configuration you now want. If you're beyond the return period, then Apple will not take your iPhone as a trade-in to one with a higher capacity. They'll only replace it with the same model.
If you purchased from a dealer, then that dealer's return policies if any would apply.
    Regards.
