Iphone Ver 1.0 w/ new 2.0 firmware, anyone experience these issues?

I am hearing much about some of what I am getting ready to say, so here goes. Since the firmware update day debacle of July 11th and going forward i.e. it seems to be far from over,, the following seem to be the most consistent things happening on my Iphone, wether I reboot, shut off, restart, Sync w/ Macbook, re install, turn off all so called extras, uninstall a few of the 15 extra apps I have installed total from App store.
* Screen goes black during phone calls pretty consistent, cannot access keys, to
switch between calls when someone else calls in, or even hang up for that
matter.
* Very, painfully slow response to keys when touching now. Especially in Mail
and phone/addresses apps. Touch key,,, count to 15-20 and maybe the screen
reacts. Ridiculous!
* Constant App freezes, or kick outs back to OS when working with or playing
most any app that I have. Many I simply uninstalled for this reason. Too many
to list. DID THEY EVEN TEST THIS STUFF??
* In advertent reboots for no reason, when I slide the key to the on position to
get into the Iphone.
* Reboots/Resets, often take several minutes??
* When trying to install the few updates that are released to some of the apps, halfway to the umpteenth insertion of my password to install the same app, the updater crashes, thus I must start over??
* Battery life?? Whatever, twice a day recharges now, unless I turn **** near every working component off except the phone. WHATS THE POINT OF THE TERM UPGRADE??
* All of the above reminds me of one thing. The thing I'd thought I'd for the most part gotten away from in my life MS WINDOWS. This is a painful reminder of that. Anyone agree??
I'm sorry, I love Apple, and am likely a fanboy as much as anyone, but this has been ridiculous since July 10th. It's now the 25th. I know I am far from alone. This stuff is untested, unprepared, and APPLE is doing a poor job of acknowledging it. I have lost, important calls, data, and simply frustrated. Rather than brag to people about all the new cool stuff, I simply shut my mouth and keep it in my pocket, and hope it does not ring, so I do not have to bring it out, and possibly have another meltdown in front of someone.
Anyone here got better stories/points, in hopes that Apple even reads this stuff?

Yeah, sure would have been smarter of them to not do the 2.0 update and the 3G rollout simultaneously. I think many of the upgrade problems are server issues -- perhaps all, since many did succeed with no problems, suggesting that the OS is OK but the upgrade process failed for many.
Once such a process fails it's hard to recover. I once bricked a digital SLR by an abortive flash upgrade and had to take to the service center to get it fixed. I'd expect Apple to be able to undo iPhone problems, but maybe that's optimistic.

  • How can i sync my iphone with itnes on a new pc.  when i tried to sync it said it will erase the contents on my iphone to sync with the new pc which has no contents

my old pc was running low in memory and i don't have enough space to back up in order to instal iOS5.  so i got a new pc, installed itunes on it but when i tried to sync my iphone on the new pc, it said it'll erase all contents on my iphone and sync with the new pc which has no contents. it says iphone can only sync with one machine.
    can you pls help

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

There is no way around the activation lock. You apparently decided to use the phone with someone else's ID set up for an iCloud (and find my iPhone) account before updating. Since Find My iPhone was active, updating to iOS 7 has automatically turned on the activation lock. If you do not have the Apple ID and password that were previously used, then the phone is now useless. You can't activate it without that informaion.
Talk to whoever you bought the phone from if you can. If you can't, buy a new phone.

    Hello AlexCornejo,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The screen you're seeing on your iPhone indicates it is in recovery mode.  Now since the device is not appearing in iTunes on your PC, first follow the steps in this article:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
After following those steps, you should be able to restore your iPhone.
    Take care,

    Hi..
On your new iPhone tap Settings > Store.
Make sure Books is turned ON.
You shouldn't need to re purchase the book >  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How can I back up my iPhone and iPod to a new iCloud account without losing any data?

    Hello
Before Mountain Lion comes out I want to create a new iCloud account because I don't want to use the @me.com email that I created with my current iCloud account. I want to create an entirely new account with a new @me.com email address. I use iCloud to back up my iPhone, iPod and am signed into it on my mac. Basically I want to back up my iPhone and iPod to a new iCloud account and not lose any data. Is there any way to do this?
Thanks so much for any help.

Before you connect to a new PC, make sure that autosync is disabled in Edit/Preferences/Devices, otherwise your phone will be wiped during the following sync.
    Then back up manually:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to the new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your phone without syncing.
Transfer the purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.

I just purchased an iMac.  How can I use apps purchased on my iPhone and iPad on my new laptop?

    1) Congratulations on purchaing an iMac. But an iMac is not considered a laptop.
    2) Apps you bought for you iPhone and iPad can interchange with each other, but can NOT run on an Imac or a MacBook.
You will have to buy the same title again from the Mac App Store. When you do, you can run them on your iMac and your MacBook.

I am trying to sync my iphone with itunes on a new computer, but over 3 quarters of my music is missing. It seems that only the songs downloaded on itunes in the last 6 - 9 months have transferred. How can I get the rest of it to sync?

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question does not appear to be related to. You will probably get better help by posting in the Using iPhone forum.

I have just purchased a new macbook and need to sync my iphone with itunes, i understand that you can only sync your phone with one itunes account. I do not want to wipe my iphone when syncing with this new itunes account. Any advice welcome

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

  • My iphone storage is full due to my large photo library. As I want to go on taking more photos, if I back up my phone to icloud, can I then delete all my photos from my iphone to make room for new photos?

My iphone storage is full due to my large photo library. As I want to go on taking more photos, if I back up my phone to icloud, can I then delete all my photos from my iphone to make room for new photos? Or will the next time I back up lose all those previously backed up as it is a 'new' set of data?
I just want to find the easiest and safest way of not losing all my photos while being able to take more than my iPhones storage worth as it is already full - can someone help me please? I thought icloud was the solution to not uploading my photos to the mac but I'm not sure if the way it's going is working and don't want to delete photos or lose my phone and then find out what I'm doing isn't actually storing my photos permanently. Thanks

    Hey EmilyEliza,
As you are clearly aware, it is important for you to have backups of your important data, including all of these photos you are currently keeping on your iPhone. While it is possible to use iTunes or iCloud to do backups of your iPhone, the problem becomes how to access those backups if you have deleted the photos from your iPhone. Once you have done the backup and then removed the photos from the iPhone, the only way to access the photos is by restoring the backups to the phone. See this article for information about backups made from the iPhone -
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support
If you want to easily access the photos once they are off of the iPhone, another approach to this would be to import your photos from the iPhone into an application on your Mac, such as iPhoto. To learn how to do this, use the steps in this article -
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support
Once those photos are on your computer, it is still important to back up those photos to somewhere else, so you can be sure of their safety before removing them from the iPhone. Your Mac’s Time Machine application is one method of doing this -
Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • I had my iphone 4 stolen, replaced with new iphone 4 had all my info that was on cloud downloaded to new phone.  Next day all that info dissappeared from new phone. Is there a way to recover info??

I had my iphone 4 stolen, replaced with new one same day and downloaded info saved to the cloud.  The next day all that info disappeared and have not been able to get any of the old info back.  Is there a way to get this info.

I think you will have to do a complete restore--you will lose any info added since last backup.  Connect phone to computer, select it in souce list.  Next, click on Summary tab, click Restore.  In the next dialog box, click Restore--your phone will be erased and the latest software will be installed.  Click agree to terms and phone will restart.  Then you will see the phone setup screen--click on Restore from Backup and select the most recent backup.  Obviously, this will only work if you have a backup on the computer.  If not, check Set up as New Phone, click continue, then wait for the process to finish.
