IPhone (verizon) loses signal sporadically

Hi,
My office mate has a new Verizon iPhone. He is experiencing a sudden loss of signal here, at home, everywhere. He has 4 bars then all of a sudden its in "search" mode. Then magically the 4 bars come back. There is no issue with other phones in the office on the Verizon network.
Im wondering if anyone else is / has experienced this and what you did to resolve.
chaz_

I actually have a similar issue. I can be sitting in my office at work and have 4 bars with the Verizon Logo at top with the 3G symbol by it. Then all of a sudden Verizon and 3G go away; I still have the four bars. It just annoying that everytime I open my message I get the Turn Roaming Data Notification. It happens in my office and at my friends house. And both my collegues and friend have Verizon service and they don't lose their 3G service. It's killing my battery and annoying. It just started happening the middle of last week.
I would like to be able to resolve this, I feel like the only thing that they are gonna have me do is restore my phone to a BLANK phone; which I hate doing especially if it doesn't fix the problem. And I don't want a new phone because it's probably going to be refurbished and I paid for a new phone not someone elses piece (or at least I know what Verizon will do).

Battery problem, anntena or motherboard? pleas help.

it could be a motherboard problem. Last month I spilled liquid on to my iphone and since I didn't have warranty for it I had to take it to a "phone doctor". He fixed it but mentioned that motherboard is working fine but he can not say for sure for how long it will last, and that I may experience some wierd problems. I'm having this exact problem the day I got my iphone back.
Well no longer but the solution still seems wierd. I turned on the "location services" because I saw in the "system services" screen that "cell network search" was turned on. I figured if I don't screw with location services, it would be okay. So, after three hours, I terminated the sleep in 10-20-30 minutes and 1 hour intervals, it seems I no longer have the problem but I'm going to sleep over it to be sure. Also make sure to turn on the "auto" option on the "carrier" menu.
I will post the outcome if I don't forget about this page.

Here are some observations and a suggestion.
    1)  I mentioned before, that the number of views of this discussion forum is fast approaching 100,000.  I suppose relative to all iPhones sold that is not a great percentage, but 100,000 still sounds pretty impressive to me.  Consider also that many people probably have this same Sim problem and are not viewing this discussion forum because thay do not know it exists.  How many people are REALLY experiencing this problem?  Who knows.  But I suspect it is more that 100,000.
    2)  To the best of my knowledge, Apple does not consult these forums as a guide to awareness of product performance.  It may be company policy, but most of the time when I speak to an Apple employee they seem remarkably unaware of the "Top Stories" in the Apple Discussion Forum.  This, despite the fact that my personal experience with customer service at Apple is excellent.  So, as much as we of this discussion forum are confident SOMEONE important at Apple is reading all our posts and taking them to heart...I am not so sure.
    3)  I have been told over and over that the best way to gain Apple's attention regarding a problem is to post a comment on their Feedback Site.  One comment about a problem is pretty worthless.  100,000 comments on the same issue, I'm guessing, will really get their attention.
    4)  Some folks have mentioned a recall to address this problem.  Although such a thing is always a possibility, I don't see it happening.  Why?  When the brakes on a Toyota don't work, or that Toyata starts to accelerate without driver intention...well, that involves human life and the stakes are quite high.  For many reasons you would see the automotive industry eventually be forced into a recall program under such a situation.  But, a phone APPEARS to not nearly be such a life and death device.  Or is it?  My daughter's iPhone 4S developed a "SIM FAILURE" on the same day her car broke down in the middle of the very rural area we live at around 10:00 pm.  She is 17 years old and was coming home from high school play practice.  You can imagine the anxiety I and her mother felt when she did not arrive home on time.  She eventually walked about a quarter mile to a house of a stranger and had to ask to use their phone to call us.  Now, I am not saying that strangers where I live are not to be trusted.  But, in addition to being worried out of my mind, I was not happy that an inoperative iPhone 4S caused my daughter to be put in this situation.  My biggest concern now is...when will my daughter's iPhone become inoperative again due to SIM FAILURE?
    5)  The more folks in this discussion forum who post a comment about this issue in Apple's feedback site the more pressing this issue is going to be perceived by Apple.  So, I like others, encourage all of you to do so.  If this seems like a lot of effort, I offer you these few sentences below that you could just copy and paste into the feedback site.
The link to feedback site is:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/
Feel free to use copy/amend/whatever the following as you wish:
    Dear Apple,
I wish to register a strong concern about my iPhone's unpredictable inoperability due to failures somehow associated with it's SIM technology.  For me, I do not consider this just a significant lack of convenience, but a significant safety issue.  Should I need my phone in an emergency situation where it is experiencing  a SIM FAILURE, I believe the iPhone will have put me at risk.  I would ask you to please give fixing this problem your greatest priority and effort.
    Sincerely, XXXX

  • My iphone 5s lose signal !!! after ios 8.0.2, comparing pictures with IPhone 4

Hi, is any one facing lose signal in iphone 5s after updating to 8.0.2?
i tried to compare my both iPhones 4 and 5s, separated by 0.2 inch, the iPhone 4 running the latest 7.1.2 and the 5s running 8.0.2.
the iphone 4 has full signal and the 5s loose connectivity always, both has a the same number "twin Number". totally  new SIM cards.
Any one can help me please how can i fix this?
    the iphone 5 S image:
    and the iPhone 4 image

Since my iPhone 5C is pretty much the same as the iPhone 5, I am also experiencing this signal? Would we be able to get the Apple Genius to take a look at it once out of Apple Care? This is totally the software side.
Reset Network Setting. Restoring the phone. Using a new sim card. NOTHING AT ALL. I only get signal now once I am outdoor. Very depressing.

  • Why does my iPhone 5 lose signal when trying to make a call or use cellular data?

    Hello,
I've had this problem for a few weeks now and it's becoming really annoying. Every time I try to make a call, or call voicemail, it takes me 10 or so attempts to connect. When it doesn't connect I get 'searching' in the top left hand corner whilst my phone try's to find signal again. I have the same problem when using 3G - it'll be fine for a while and then I lose my signal all together. This happens in places where I have enjoyed full signal strength in the past. I have dropped my phone or done anything to it to cause this. I've checked with my network provider, Giffgaff but it seems to be more of a phone problem rather than network.
Has anyone had anything similar? If so how did you fix it? I'm thinking I need to take it into my local store to get it looked it.

  • Iphone 4s Loses Signal when Connected to HDMI

    Hello,
I have an Iphone 4s with the most current software as of today.  When I plug the phone into the AV adapter and then to the HDMI to the TV, I lose cell service, it literally says NO SERVICE in the corner.
If I unplug the HDMI, it comes back almost instantly.  It is a genuine AV adapter from Apple, I have replaced it as deffective once, and tried it with two different phones.  I have tried the AV cable with and without the power adapter.  If I leave everything plugged in and only unplug the HDMI cord, the service comes back perfectly.
I have a Samsung HD Plasma TV, it has Anynet, but not sure if that matters at all?  Does anyone else have these problems or thoughts?
    Thank you for your help!
    Robert

Some more information.  Tried two phones, two AV cords, and two HDMI cables.  I called apple care and they can't figure out what the problem is either... Not sure what to do.  I think my Samsung plasma is sending some sort of signal to the phone which is causing problems.  When I switch to a different source (the blu ray player instaed of the Iphone with AV cord) the signal comes back instantly.  Think maybe I should try the component cable kit instead of the HDMI???
    Any thoughts?

  • Did anyone have their iPhone 4S lose signal yesterday?

Around 3pm, iPhone 4S suddenly started searching for signal. Tried all options but signal never returned. Took to AT&T who tried to see if SIM issue, it wasn't. Sent me to Apple, where they tried to restore but couldn't fix. Now phone is wiped and can't connect to anything. Went back to AT&T to replace phone when two guys that worked there said yesterday they had a flood of people with exact same issue. Anyone??  I don't want to be charged for something that isn't my issue.

I'm with AT&T but didn't notice the issue.
    Where are you located?

  • Iphone 5 loses signal when plugged in.

Also, if I'm in the middle of a call as soon as it is plugged in to the charger, the microphone and speaker stops working but when it's unplugged the call can continue as normal. Any ideas why?

The signal is really weak too. I have switched on field test mode and at home I get between -100 and -130  but even sat next to the mast I only get -91. I have checked the phone and everything is intact. It's very frustrating.

I tried this! Somebody suggested it in another thread. It did not work, sadly.

  • Why does my iphone lose signal since upgrading to ios7

Since I upgraded to ios7, my iphone 5 constantly loses signal.  It does so just about every 10-15 minutes.  I have tried reseting my network settings, I switch to airplane mode, I do a hard reset.  And nothing works.  Prior to upgrading I never had this problem, now its constant.  I am going to try to get a new sim card, but since this only started when I upgraded (almost the exact moment), I dont see that fixing it.  I have to try to resend almost every text message, and safari pages never load. I have even been trying for days to post this question, but finally gave up and used my computer.  I would really appreciate any help

    Perfect.
With a iPhone keyboard lag since installed iOS7,
thanks to pvonk who said :
    "Settings>General>Reset>all settings"
and it's go on very well....

  • IPhone loses signal for several minutes?

I had AT&T before I got my iPhone and I know of certain areas around my neighborhood where the signal is weak. My old phone would sometimes drop a call in those areas, but seconds later, the signal meter would start to refill as I drove into a stronger signal area. With my iPhone, it completely loses the signal and displays "No Service" in the upper left of the screen. However, even as I pass into an area that I know has a better signal, it will stay on "No Service" for about 2-4 minutes before it finally finds the signal again! Anyone else notice this?

More information on my reception problems. I am now absolutely convinced that it is a either a tower problem or a SIM problem - AT&T problem not strictly iPhone. I spent several hours today swapping SIM cards around between the iPhone, Nokia N95 and Nokia E61. In all cases I did the testing in exactly the same location within our house. Here are the results:
iPhone: Signal strength varies from No Service to full bars at this single location in a random, completely unpredictable way. While on a call signal strength was 4 bars and during the conversation dropped to No Service and call dropped. Later my wife called and was sent immediately to voice mail. She then called me on the landline and I checked the signal and it showed No Service. When it goes to No Service it sometimes takes a few minutes to re-acquire just like others have reported here.
N95 with iPhone SIM card: Signal strength varies from one bar to full bars in a random, completely unpredictable way. But never actually lost service. I tried several Edge data connections and while slow when signal was low none failed. I do not remember seeing this random fluctuation in signal on the N95 before with my old (pre iPhone) Cingular SIM card but perhaps it was there and since it was still usable I just didn't notice.
E61 with iPhone SIM card: Pretty much the same behavior as N95 except no full bar signal strength showed. Completely usable.
I realize that the iPhone will probably never get as good reception as the Nokias but I think if it would quit the signal strength variation or tower hopping or what ever it is doing it would be usable at even 1-3 bars if the signal remained steady.
As another point of information in case Cingular and T-Mobile are sharing towers at my location, I returned my T-Mobile SIM card to my N95 and tested it in the same location as before and it showed a consistent full bars with no variation and perfect operation.
Unless something good happens to solve this problem soon, I think that when I find a reliable method or service that will unlock the iPhone I am going to do it and go with T-Mobile. AT&T is not ready for dependable operation at my location with the iPhone.

  • My iPhone 4 still seems to lose signal even though its at the latest OS?

As you can see from the title the Iphone loses signal whenever the antenna is covered. This problem I thought was resolved with 4.0.1 update? I am now at 4.3.3 and having only gotten the iPhone a week ago it is a big problem. Any help?

No, the phone quite clearly doesnt work fine, if i am on the phone to somebody I lose connection. That doesnt sound fine to me. And theres only one option and that is to spend ANOTHER £30. Could it not be that the antenna isnt set properly? I know apple was giving away free bumpers for a while but thats over now. That suggests I dont need a bumper to fix the phone as it was meant to be a software problem. This hasnt been fixed so im wondering if it could have something to do with the manufacturing.
