Iphone Verizon Overseas

Have Iphone with verizon, Im going to Vietnam, is my Iphone gonna work overseas?? Is the first time I bring a CDMA handset, all my previous phones I did unlock them and used them there with a local sim.

The Verizon phone is not and can not be unlocked. It is a CDMA phone and does NOT use a SIM (SIMs are used in GSM phones ONLY).
According to this page: http://b2b.vzw.com/international/technology/cdma.html
You will be able to use voice service, but not cellular data. You will ONLY be able to use it roaming internationally on your Verizon plan. You can NOT use a local carrier as the phone is locked to Verizon.  Make sure you contact Verizon before you go and get international roaming activated if it isn't already.  It will NOT be inexpensive!

I did buy it from someone in Jordan. So they might have got it from KSA, or UAE, or it even might be the same rules in Jordan. I don't think the imessage works even, every time someone sends me a message from their ipad it says "Not delivered". Maybe I am wrong?

  • How do i unlock iphone for overseas

How do I unlock my iphone for overseas or to change to tmobile carrier?
    It is a 3G or 3GS model I believe.
I don't want to void the warranty.
    Thanks!
    Jon

Depend on the country from which the iphone was purchased.
The ONLY place that can unlock the iphone legally/legitimately is the carrier to which it is locked and ONLY if they offer that service.
For example, ALL U.S. iphone are carrier locked and CANNOT be unlocked.

        Hello to you Thiminh!
Having the ability to make a phone call to the people you talk to the most at any time of the day is super important! It will be my absolute pleasure to double check into this for you.
Depending on the type of plan that you have Verizon to Verizon phone calls should not deduct from your minute allotment. Which plan do you have?
You can also double check the number right here:

Please advise so we can get you back to talking!

  • Iphone 5 overseas

I was told that the iphone 5 is considered unlocked as r all 4g phones from verizon. I plan on getting a sim card to use the phone overseas in March. Does anyone have any experience with this?

The only difference between the 3 iPhone 5 models is the LTE bands supported.
If your carrier has an LTE network and you want to use it, buy the appropriate model of iPhone that supports the bands used on their network.
As others have stated, regardless of model of iPhone5, it will work on any GSM network worldwide.

  • Iphone--verizon's lack of customer loyalty

Existing customers are not eligible to purchase the iphone at promotional price unless they are due for an upgrade.  We do have the option of paying full price for the iphone.  This is clearly a slap in the face to existing Verizon customers.

omg people shut up and stop bitching ive been eligible ever since 3/14/10 for an upgrade and ive waited to use it on the iPhone. Its not Verizons fault that you can't wait for the iPhone. Yes I do realize that 4 years one week and two days is a long time but if you had been patient then you wouldnt be complaining right now. I also think Verizon did some math, they probally saw how many people ARE ELIGIBLE NOW and made that many or less availible for pre order. If they allow the flood gates to open the people that didnt wait, people like ME THAT DESERVE ONE MORE THAN THE PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT ELIGIBLE AND DIDNT WAIT wont get one on the 3rd or the 10th. So stop complaining about how they aren't honnoring you.

  • Love the iPhone, Verizon is not the same.

My other half purchased an iPhone for me two weeks ago.  I have had zero problems with the iPhone itself and I am very pleased.  No freezing, crashing, dropped calls (unless there is little or no signal) it's really helpful to me and my busy life.
Up until this point I raved about Verizon and I was impressed with their customer service, pleased with employees knowledge of phones, plans, pricing and features.  Ever since this iPhone I have talked to 2 very confused agents over the phone, one aggitated tech and one very confused online chat agent.
I received a voice mail asking me to evaluate my recent experience and that line was unable to complete my call.
I was not made aware that all of my Verizon voicemails would disappear and I am in the middle of a case which requires those voicemails.  While they may be gone, I am not impressed that I was not advised of several details involving this iPhone.
I was very excited that Verizon now has the iPhone so I could stay with their service but now I am not very impressed.
If anyone can direct me to a feedback line, emai or something I would be grateful.
I tried calling customer service and the agent said they did not know of a customer service line and they could not assist me in that matter.  I am confused as to why customer service cannot provide the service they once had.

That's awesome!  I have not yet met one person who knew or was told prior to purchasing the phone.  So I see that you are fortunate.
Sorry to say, but the majority of posters on here will tell you that they were aware that voicemails would be lost. If you and your wife never actually researched the iPhone on VZ prior to purchasing (other than talking to a rep) then that may explain why you were not aware, although the VZ stores in my area did tell people when purchasing in store before activating that they would lose their vmails. Unfortunately, it does seem that a lot of VZ CS were not sufficiently trained (at least in the beginning) about the iPhone. At any rate, I would like to point out that even with AT&T if someone switches to the iPhone from another phone they lose their vmails (per info I read on their FAQs for the iPhone and from an AT&T iPhone owner that I know personally...who said she wasn't told by AT&T either that she would lose them). It's unfortunate that you needed those vmails but honestly, if the messages saved on anyone's vmail is extremely important they should investigate ways to save them externally from the network anyway. It's like backing up your data on a computer...at any time for any reason something could happen to that data and those important files could be lost if backups aren't done. Something could happen to the vmail system at any time causing people to lose saved vmails and they would still be in the same boat. True, the possibility seems slim on the surface but the risk is still there. Obviously, all of that is pure hindsight, but it is food for thought (for the future) when it comes to any important data anyone wants to keep.
As far as the CS issues...have you tried looking on the website for a corporate address to contact or doing a search to find this info? Usually, contacting Corporate will lead you in the right direction when call center employees seem unable or unwilling to help. A lot of CS for companies work for a contracted company rather than the old process of having an actual call center or CS center directly within the company. That might explain the decline in CS many feel like has occurred.

  • Using the iphone 5 overseas

I bought a GSM iPhone 5 from the Apple website in Canada (obviously unlocked).
I read somewhere that there are three models of iPhone 5 and that the GSM model sold in Canada may not work overseas, particularly in Asia.
    Is that true????
I travel a lot and spend a fair amount of time in China where I usually switch for my Chinese SIM. Is my yet-to-be-received iPhone just a paperweight when I travel?

Well, if you purchase an unlocked iPhone from the Apple website, then it means exactly what it says - unlocked is unlocked and this means that it will not come preloaded with anything.
What you need to do is approach the phone companies in the UK that support the iPhone, those being 02, Orange, Vodafone and 3 and get a SIM only deal with one of them so that you can use your phone.
In the UK, I feel it is always a mistake to order the iPhone direct from Apple.  If you want an iPhone initially or you want to upgrade, then go through the phone companies and take out a contract with them and you WILL NOT pay £600 for an iPhone.  Depending on the contract you take out, you will probably end up paying less than half price for the phone.
When you receive the phone on Friday, send if back to Apple for a refund and then go to the phone companies and purchase it there on a contract and then your phone will work, but anyway, you should still be able to get a SIM only contract, but if a phone is sold as unlocked, then that is exactly what it is, so no sim card included.
Also, this is not helpful to the OP and is not really answering his specific question.

  • Iphone verizon insurance vs warranty??whats the difference?

I have an iphone 4s and i want to know what the difference is between having verizon insurance or having a warranty on my phone...the warranty expired but i have insurance..do i need to renew my warranty?? Or is insurance enough?? HELP.

    Read for yourself:
    http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/features/calling_features/equipment_prote ction.html
If Apple's regular warranty has expired on your phone I believe it is too late to purchase AppleCare.
The Verizon policy includes being "lost, stolen, or damaged".  ApplecarePlus covers damage within limits but not being lost or stolen.  In that regard the Verizon plan is really insurance.
I don't have either so I am just providing an analysis of things you can also read on the web.

  • Iphone Verizon simlock unlocked exchange cause of warranty

I bought an Iphone 5 in the US last summer with a Verizon simlock. Because I am from Germany, I paid to have my phone unlocked permanently in the store so I could use a german simcard. Now because of warranty issues, I'm going to get a new Iphone from Apple. But this model has the Verizon simlock again. I already paid for unlocking, so my question is, where can I send my unlocked old phone IMEI and the simlocked new phone IMEI, to get my new exchanged Phone unlocked?
    Sincerely Arnold
PS: Please excuse my english, I'm not a native speaker.

Unless I am mistaken all Verizon iPhones come unlocked with the ability to use a foreign SIM card in it. You do not need to do anything special in order to use a SIM card from a local German provider.
