Iphone video recording format

i have the new iphone 4 an ive been recording videos an what not, the videos look very good when i view them on my iphone but when i send the videos to other people including iphone users the videos look very blurry. I was wondering if theres a setting of some sort that you have to fix like with other phones where it lets u record for mms etc?

A video sent with any cell phone via MMS is significantly compressed by the carrier. SMS/MMS are exchanged over the same network as calls.
A video sent via email is also compressed, but not as much as when sending via MMS.
There is no video recording setting for MMS or for anything else. There is no option to change the quality of a video captured with the iPhone and there is no way to change the compression of a video sent via MMS.

From what I see, the video gets recorded in .mov format. Does Iphone 4 record video in any other format? I see it supports other formats for playback.

I'm sanity checking how I record video for 2013. I have no issues buying a new camera if recommended. In this case I'm referring to recording "home movies" - a kid's birthday party, spring break trip, band concert, etc. My intended target is to watch on a big screen TV via Blu-ray disc, streaming to a PS3, occassional playback on a computer. My current consumer camcorder records in 1080/60p, 1080/60i, and 1080/24p. I have seen other consumer camcorders offering 1080/30p.
I will also have some footage shot on a Droid phone in 1080/30p, although that amount of video will be minor in comparison; I just mention in case of minor influence on an opinion. And by "streaming" on my PS3 I mean playback of a compatible format file via a DLNA server without transcoding on the fly. Presently the PS3 can play all the formats as far as I know. I've been shooting in 1080/60i.
What recording format would you recommend?

Even though it's not a supported bluray format, I'd record at 60p. Converting from 60p to 60i is a really easy process, each field has more data than it needs as a full frame is recorded for each one, so there is no quality lost, and having that extra data gives you a lot more options if you want to do slow mo shots.
The reason some cameras are recording at 30p even though it's not part of the bluray spec is that a 60i signal made from a 30p source is effectively 30p. It just plays each frame twice as fields, rather than two different fields as would happen with an interlaced clip.

IPhone video recording with screen/phone locked?

Hi guys,
I cycle commute to/from the studio, and have had some close calls of late with idiot drivers.
Id like to use my iPhone to record my ride to/from work, just incase something happens.
Is there a way/app to allow me to turn the screen off, or lock the phone while recording video?

There are lots of dashcam apps available now. If you want to record the whole ride rather than the last few minutes, just set the record time to the max your phone memory can stand. I use ISMDVR in my car, it has a car mode screen which is mainly black but does give a speed reading and some other info. I tried one or two apps but settled on that one.

IPhone video recording capability

Has anyone heard if the Apple iPhone will have video recording capability in the near future like most cell phones have besides just taking photo's!

IPhone video recording is garbled!

I'm not sure how or why but my iPhone 5 can no longer record video properly!!
I just used it this week to capture some live performances and all the video is garbled and chunky and the audio was not working for most of it. The longest video was 7 minutes, but the rest were 20 - 30 seconds.
Everything was working fine until I plugged the iphone into the imac to download into iPhoto. There was some kind of error (unrecognizable file type or something) but when I clicked OK it downloaded a few of the videos and photos. I saw that they still appeared on the iphone so I clicked import again. I saw the same warning after a few more videos and photos downloaded. Once or twice more and everything was downloaded into iphoto.
The photos are fine but every one of the videos was scrambled.
What is going on here?!! I lost some great footage (of course).

It isn't inverted by the iPhone. The orientation of a photo or video captured with the iPhone is included with the EXIF data for the photo and video.
Whatever you are using on that swiss cheese for security operating system that is Windows to view the video is not recognizing or ignoring the orientation included with the video's EXIF data.

What accessories were used in the iphone video recorded in January 2014

I am trying to learn what "extras" were used in the making of the Apple video of 24 January 2014. Credits indicate extra accessories were used. I would like to learn what they were.

The Apple posted 30th Anniversary video is less than 30 days old! So, "in the past" leads me to believe you are out of touch with reality!
In the Apple posted video discussion of how the video was made, there are clips of the iphones used with their accessories. I was hoping others here would be able to recognize the accessories and share their wisdom.

I'm dl movies from limewire and i have tried avi, mp4, and mov but nothing will sync with my iPhone what does the iPhone mainly use?

I have no idea - you are downloading stuff from unknown and untrusted sources when using Limewire.
If you have QuickTime Pro, you can use that also for doing the same which might make a difference.
Or do a Google search for a conversion utility.

Iphone video camera file format

When I used my iphone video camara to record someting, the file used to be saved as mp4 format, but now the video file is saved as mov format. I don't know what happened, but can I go back to mp4?

had issues if I start recording in one mode and then changing it
but if I start in the orientation I want it's good

Pre Lion iPhone videos show Thumbnail but can't play - new video generates Unsupported Video Format popup, no thumb but will play via quicktime

This is really frustrating -
Over the last year I have been uploading all of my photos and occasional iPhone video to Aperture 3 (latest version all patches in place).    Aperture would recognize the video, create a thumbnale and otherwise treat it nicely.
Now, since upgrading to Lion I find that though I can "see" the old videos in their folders or projects and the associated Thunbnale, I can't play them - I either get the spinning color wheel and then nothing or Aperture will crash and report an error relating to Quicktime (sorry don't have an error code at the moment).
If I try and export a video I can - but what I get also can't be played by Quicktime - just a black screen. When I hit Play - the scroll bar moves, but there is no sound or video.
From Final Cut Pro X, I can imoprt this exported video file and see that it appears complete - but FCPX uses it's own playback elements.
If I shoot a new video on my iPhone, I find that I can see the thumbnale in the import option of Aperture when looking at the phone, but once imported I get a Popup telling me that it is an "Unsupported Video Format" - "Do you want to open this video clip with QuickTIme Player?"   If I hit Open then the clip does play, but the thumbnale remains a black square with the warning Exclamation Point.
I have also had some issues with Lion Mail crashing when trying to play a video made on an iPhone and sent to me via email.   Seems more likley to be a Lion / Quicktime issue then an Aperture and Mail issue - but who knows.
I spent 2.5 hours of quality time with the Genius bar this morning. We reinstalled Lion and after that the suggestion was to trash and re-install Aperture, but that would require my disc and of coruse a trip home.   Mail doesn't seem to still have the issues with iPhone movies that it had - but Aperture is still not happy.
Did as instructed and dragged Aperture 3 to the trash, did the empty trash option, restarted and reinstalled.   Then did a software update to catch the new update for Aperture and it found that.   Interestingly when I did start it up after that it DID NOT ask me for my key - so clearly some elements were left over.
Now upon retstarting Aperture 3 once again I find that I can still see my old movies (their thumbnails show up) but I still can't play them.   The new test movie is there but still generates the popup regarding it being an Unsupported Video Format.
And it's not just my iPhone.   Video sent via email from another iPhone can play as an attachment, or when dragged and dropped to the desktop, but once imported into Aperture is once again proclaimed to be an Unsupported Video Format.
Hoping someone out there knows how to resolve this....

Firstly, apologies if this has been asked on here before – if so, I couldn't find it, and might have been using the wrong search terms.
I'm getting married soon, and rather than hire a videographer to produce something we probably won't like anyway, we thought we'd go down the riskier route of asking friends and family to use their iPhones to record video on the day, and then editing all the results together ourselves.
The major stumbling block we're facing now is that most people's iPhones don't have enough free storage available to be used as video cameras for a day-long event. So I was wondering if there was any safe way to back up each iPhone (we're talking about half a dozen or so), temporarily reset it to clean out the storage, and then restore it later on after extracting the video. The questions I need answered are:
1) Can one Mac, running one instance of iTunes, be used to back up multiple iPhones, some of which are not even synced with that specific Mac?
2) Can I get large amounts of video off those iPhones without syncing and potentially over-writing previous back-ups? Is there a method of extracting video that doesn't involve iTunes (just as you can use Preview in OS X to get photos off the camera roll without opening iTunes, for example)?
3) Once the video has been taken off the phones, is it safe to assume that iTunes will happily restore each phone from its respective back-up?

Sorry, there is no easy/foolproof way to do what you want. The biggest hurdle is the simple fact that by design, an iPhone will sync or manually manage iTunes content with one computer at a time. So, even if you successfully backed up each iPhone's content on a single computer, & restored such to each phone when finished recording(all possible), the content would then be erased again when these phones were connected to the computers they normally sync with. Are you sure each of these individuals can deal with this? Getting the videos off each phone won't be a problem...the problem is dealing with the other data & the deletion/restore process.

You could have each of these individuals sync their phones on the computers they normally sync with...this will create a current iPhone backup. Then on each phone: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. Record the video, you import to your computer, when they get home they restore from the backups they made. That would work.

Here are the steps for AirPlay:
Before starting Azul from your (running iOS 5.x/6.x) home screen where have have all your apps we need to turn on mirroring
On your iPhone 4S/5 or iPad 2 or 3, double-click the Home Button to view your recently-used apps.
Swipe all the way to the right to until you see the icon.
Note: If the icon does not appear, go to the "If AirPlay Mirroring is not visible or available on your mobile iOS device" section.
Tap the icon to see the list of available AirPlay devices.
Enable AirPlay Mirroring in this menu by tapping on an available Apple TV, then sliding the Mirroring slider to ON.
Now you should be seeing your iPad/iPhone on your TV.
Start up Azul now and using the settings icon on the top right corner go to the option that say "TV out" ON.
When you do that you will see an Orange screen
Now click "Done" and play the video you want to watch and it will AirPlay
