Iphone VoIP application development on Mac Mini

Hello
I am beginner for Mac.
I plan to develop the voip application for iphone.
Is it possible to develop on Mac mini(2GHz D & 1G RAM & 120G HD)?
Thanks.

As long as your Mac Mini has an Intel processor and is running Leopard - 10.5.x, you can install and run the iPhone SDK.

No it does not. The 2 are separate.
To get Pages on your Mac mini purchase it from the Mac App Store. The icon is on your Dock.

    Hey iWeb plubishing problems,
I would first check to make sure that you meet the system requirements for OS X to support Documents in the Cloud. For that your Mac’s needs to be running at least OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later to make sure that everything syncs. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Ran disk utility repair permissions....now I can not open any applications on my Mac mini

my Mac mini (mid 2011. OS X 10.9.1). Was running very slow so I ran repair permissions...after re-booting my computer I can not open any apple applications.  I keep getting a pop up window that says " finder quit unexpectedly". When trying to open safari " safari quit unexpectedly".  I can open skype, google chrome.   The computer indicates that wifi is on and connected - however I can't seem to log into Skype or access any web pages.  What to do next?
One more thing, I keep getting pop up windows asking for passwords for different items if or keychain...I have tried to put in my password, but that doesn't work. Not sure what password it is looking for but the window won't go away even when I hit cancel

Boot into your recovery partition (restart, hold down ⌘R until you see the Apple logo), and use Disk Utility to repair your hard drive.  OS X: About OS X Recovery
Then see if you can restart normally.

  • Java application development on Mac OSX

Does anyone do Java application development on a Mac? I know that Mac has their own version of Java and I was wondering if there were any difficulties of Java development on a Mac. I'm considering a switch from Windows to Mac and want to evaluate how it will impact my Java development. I currently use Eclipse 3.2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of Java development on a Mac?
    Thanks

I'm no Java3d expert but i'm quite sure java is slow on macs, as the java for mac technology is quite bad. Even 2d games with few sprites go slowly on my mac, it's a shame. However this might change as Apple is working quite hard on getting java to work properly, ( mainly because if java becomes popular the macs will lose their incompatibility problem! )

  • Sync calendar between 2 iphones, 1 ipad and a mac mini

    We have 2 iphones (acount x and y) 1 ipad ( account x) and a mac mini (account x).
On all device i've succecfully installed our home e-mail (imap). So this works.
Now i want the possibility to sync our home calendar between all 4 devices.
Is this an option and if so how do i set this up?
    Thnks. Antoine

    Hello Paul.
Can she sync her iPhone calendar with .Mac over the air (if that makes sense)?
No this is not possible. Over the air syncing is not supported with the iPhone. All syncing is done via a USB connection with a computer through iTunes only.

  • Streaming Content to Mac mini Unibody Problem

    My setup:
AirPort Extreme (dual router) with a 5 GHz N and a 2.4 GHz G broadcast at the same time.
The N network connects to my Mac Pro and my Mac mini, the G connects to my iPhone. I need the G network to control my Mac mini via hipporemote.
I just setup streaming by turning on File sharing on my Mac Pro and connect as a user from my Mac mini so that I have access to all my Mac Pro.
In iTunes on my Mac mini I'll just "Add to Library" and point to the stuff on my Mac Pro (rather than sharing iTunes library), like this I can have cover flow and grid view, etc. (whereas iTunes Library sharing will only give you the boring list view).
As I said I am fairly new to this whole Networking between Macs, as the AppleTV did it seamlessly.
And the Mac mini connecting to my Mac Pro is as well seamless. I had no problems streaming wirelessly 1080p content as MKV files, which was brilliant.
But speaking of the evil eye, after I was so happy and posted that, everything started to be choppy, even my iPhone app mouse controlling the Mac mini.
It's weird because for a whole day of watching high-def videos without as much as a single glitch, now it's all choppy.
I think I missed something, and am trying to figure out what the settings should be to maximize the throughput through AirPort Settings or DNS, DHCP and all that crap which I'm forcing myself to learn now.
My internet is 50Mbps, which is quite fast here in Canada but I don't think that should affect the home network should it? In other words I could create an ad-hoc network without having an internet connection and just have my computers share files through the N network?
In any case I thought I might just ask for advice here and will also see if I find the problem and keep you posted. It worked very well for a whole day, so something must have happened.

    Hi,
Do you have another Mouse to test with?
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
    Any change on reboot?
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Mac Mini, Synology, Apple TV, iTunes - where to start

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to the apple forum. To be honest I am new to the whole Apple thing, being a Windows bod I managed to resist the Apple gravy train for several years before giving in and falling inline.
Now I find myself with an iphone, ipod touch, ipad 2, mac mini and apple TV 4 although not all in use yet... This brings me to my question.
What is the best home setup for sharing?
    let me set the scene.
3 years ago I modernised my house and put in cat5e structured cabling throughout, all back to a comm rack in the loft. at the time I set up a powerful quad core server. I used to run my own AD domain, Exchange server (don't ask). Now the server runs Windows 7 professional with 8 HDDs running raid 5 mainly running windows media centre and I was using my xbox 360s as extenders. The view was to use Xbox's around the house to access my media. Never quite got there and things have moved on again.
After running the big Windows beast 24x7 for about 18 months I wanted to scale down again, improve data resillience and provide a simple user interface for my other half.
So after doing some initial web trawling armed and dangerous with a very small amount of knowledge and realising that I already had an amount of Apple kit to contribute towards an iTunes based mulitroom solution. The red mist came down and with credit card in hand I did some retail therapy. Not the female handbag and shoes type but the proper male tech kind.
    I already had
    1 x ipod touch 64GB
    1 x iphone 4 32GB
    1 x ipad 2 64GB wifi
    And to complement the set I now have;
    1 x i5 2.7GHZ, 16GB RAM, 2TB HDD Mac mini (this is the latest version which I upgraded to 2 x 1TB internal drives)
    1 x 4th gen apple TV
    and non Apple kit
    1 x Synology DS212+  with 8TB storage raid 0
    1 x Onkyo TX-NR515 AV receiver
So now comes to the ask. How best to use all of this over my home wired network?
I'm thinking I will use iTunes, I want to have some form of data backup between the Synology and the Mac mini (I want to shut down my windows server)
I also want to be able to control it all from the ipad/ipod and push media (audio and video) around the house.
The mac mini is currently plugged into one of my TVs via the AV receiever and the thought was to use the apple TV in another room, and depending of how it goes buy another 1 or 2 for other rooms.
So I have all this kit and not sure where to start and I'm not a mac expert. I know I can't use the synology box on it's own as you need itunes for the apple TVs, I don't know whether to use the Synology or the local Mac storage for the primary itunes library and then to backup to the device is so how (time capsule thing).
I don't want itunes to organise my media as I don't like the way it shuffles files around, so thinking of keeping the media files in a folder structure I am familar with and pointing iTunes at that. I also have a large amount of video files that I will probably have to convert to be capatible with iTunes, but not sure of the best way to do this, if I need to at all.
Sorry for the long waffle. Would be interested in any views, suggestions, ideas or examples of your own set ups. In return, for what it is worth I will let you know how I get on.
    many thanks for your input

Great thread all!  I have been wrestling with this very topic for several months now.  I've read every thread I could find on the topic, asked questions etc but still have not come to a final decision.  But I am getting close ... I think.
First, a little background.  I am starting from primarily pc household and converting to an all Apple infrastructure.  From the Apple world, we already have 2 iPhones and 3 iPads.  New iPhone 5 on order and ... today at last Apple has announced the new iMacs.  Exactly what I have been waiting for and so my intent is to purchase one each of the smaller and larger as they come out next month and the month after.  My router is beginning to show signs of age and so I would also like to move to an Airport Extreme.  The PC hard drive housing my iTunes library is nearly full and so I need to move the library to a new location, preferable an external, networkable location and I've been looking at the Synology 1812 for this purpose.  So, in the end I have or would like to soon have:
    3 iPads
    3 iPhones
    2 iMacs
1 AppleTV 3 with a plan to one or two more.  If they would only add the Amazon Prime app and RF remote capabilities it would be nearly perfect.
2 PS3s and 1 XBox360 but I much prefer the ATV interface for media.  PS3 remains the place for the Amazon app because ATV doesn't provide.
    1 Airport Extreme
House is already wired and homerunned with Cat-6
Plan to add Synology 1812 with 3 or 4 3TB drives to start and use the Synology Hybrid Raid
Open items or questions for me:
    1.  Will I have any issues if I purchase the Synology, move the iTunes library from my current PC to it and then remove the PC from the picture once I have an iMac in place?  I understand that Apple does not utilize the same hard drive formatting structure as pc but I am not sure this would matter for an external device accessed over a network.
    2.  What am I going to serve with?  I like iTunes and I am used to it.  I would like something that works well with the ATV and it does that.  Plex seems to have potential but would then make ATV useless unless hckd.  All of my music is in iTunes now, including ripped, iTunes purchased and Amazon purchased.  I have put many tv shows and some films into it as well, utilizing Handbrake to do so when needed.
    3.  Synology for storage, backup, redundancy etc but from where do I want to manage media / serve from?  I realize I can do it from one or even both of the iMacs.  I had been thinking that I wanted a low power, always on solution that would negate the need to have an IMac always on, something similar to the HP MediaSmart Server I've been using at home for a number of years, albeit clunkily.  This is where I thought the Mac Mini might come in (once I learned that the Synology iTunes server was really not a true iTunes server).  Low power, always on, can be running iTunes on it etc.  But this thread and aschmid's comments have me rethinking this.  Maybe I won't be shutting down my iMac all that much and maybe it isn't difficult to wake it so that it can address serving duties.
    4.  How would I address the storage of home videos vs films and tv shows?  I don't want iTunes managing home videos ... do I?  Still want them sitting on the Synology - right?  Did you all create a separate folder on the Synology for home videos?  I know there is a default videos folder. there.  And are you serving via iPhoto, Aperture or something else?
    5.  How about photos?  I would like my photo library housed on the Synology as well.  Is that served via iPhoto or Aperture to the ATV?  How are the mutiple entry points addressed?  Everyone in the family is taking pictures, videos etc and all of iCloud turned on.  How do I insure that a clean copy of every picture and video taken with any iPhone, iPad, digital camera, digital camcorder etc all ends up centrally located and accessible on the Synology without it becoming too manual a process?
Sorry about the long windedness of this.  I got on a bit of a roll once I began typing.  This has been on my mind for some time and I am happy to have come across this thread.

  • Using a Mac mini as a target disk for a G4 Powerbook

    Hello,
I saw a post that dealt with the above issue but i would like to get a bit more specific. I bought my Powerbook in 2005 and by now it's a bit dated. I use it to run Logic Pro, but also love games... So would it be possible to get a Mac mini Intel Duo 2Ghz, connect it to my Powerbook G4 and run games or other applications on the Mac mini but using the display and controls of my Powerbook? So in a few words, play on the Powerbook but run the game from the Mac mini. It sounds possible, but i am no computer genie! What do you think?
Or should i just spend an extra £200 and a get a Macbook...?
    Thanks for your time,
    Dimitris

When you run a computer in Target Disk Mode, the primary unit is what utilizes the processor, and the secondary unit in Target Disk Mode is only serving as the boot volume.
    What does this mean?
Let's use two "equal" machines. At least, ones I've worked with. An iMac G3 400MHz and a 12-inch PowerBook G4 1.5GHz.
If you connect your PowerBook in Target Disk Mode to the iMac G3, your iMac will not run faster and things that work with your PowerBook, say, Pages or iWork '05, won't run on your iMac. The primary unit is the iMac and all it is doing is accessing the PowerBook for the startup volume and any files. But it still runs at G3 speed and won't take advantage of the G4 speed since it is not the machine being used. All the iMac is doing is accessing the PowerBook as if it were a bare external drive. (Well, not bare in that sense).
Vice versa, if you were to connect your iMac G3 in Target Disk Mode to your 12-inch PowerBook, things you saw that were slow at 400MHz, will fly at 1.5GHz and in G4 speeds, since the PowerBook is now your primary unit.
To put it in your terms, what you want to do is really use an Intel Mac mini as your primary unit and connect your PowerBook to it in Target Disk Mode so that you will see speed increases there. What you outlined in your post will not be possible.
If you connect an Intel Mac mini in Target Disk Mode to your PowerBook, the G4 processor will be the one being utilized, and in that case, you won't be able to run things like, say, Tiger Woods PGA Tour from EA (Electronic Arts) because while that runs and only runs on Intel-based Macs, with the Mac mini in Target Disk Mode, it will not use the Intel processor.
Vice versa, if you were to connect your PowerBook in Target Disk Mode to your Intel Mac mini, things like OS9 apps in Classic mode wouldn't run on the Mac mini since it's accessing the files on the PowerBook, but the processor being utilized is the Intel one, and Classic is not compatible with Intel-based Macs.
However, Logic Pro, as long as it was the Universal version, would fly on the Mac mini if using your PowerBook in Target Disk Mode.
So, after all that, the best thing to do would be to buy a MacBook, or in an "apples to apples" comparison, the professional equivalent in the MacBook Pro.

  • MAC Mini - Extend of usablity

I am looking forward to buy a MAC Mini (non server) model. I would want to use this to run Logic Pro 9, FCP, Da Vinci resolve or similar video grading apps and also for some advanced photo editing. Is the MAC Mini powerful enough to run all these seamlessly. If there is anyone who is using similar applications on the MAC mini, would love to hear from them. Looking forward to espert opinions :-)

I have Adobe CS6 Master Collection on my late 1022 Mini and I use Flash Professional, Photoshop, Audition and Premiere Pro with dual monitors.
I maxed the RAM out at 16Gb, and other than some temps up around 180°F when doing some intense Photoshop stuff, or rendering a video, I haven't seen anything I'd describe as poor performance or alarming with it. Things cool down pretty quickly once I finish the processor consumptive process too.

  • Sync exchange contact to my mac mini address book?

My iphone is currently connected to my exchange mail account, is there anyway that i can import or sync my iphone contacts to my new mac mini address book? I am new at this mac thing, very confusing....:)

Interesting name by the way. Anti-AT&T.
I'm new to the Mac as well but I know how.
Open "contacts" or "calendar" or "mail" then click on the title on the upper left corner, then preferences.
In one of the tab screens it has "sync with MobileMe" then "sync with Exchange".

  • Face time freezes Mac mini

During a face time chat between my iPhone 4 and my friends mac mini (using a logitech usb camera), I switched to the front facing camera and the video froze for both of us. We still had audio. The mini was frozen, couldn't quit or force quit and had to do a hard shutdown with power button. We called again and everything was fine until I tried to switch to the front facing camera. Instantly the same thing happened, requiring a hard shutdown on the mini. Is this a bug? Anyone else have this problem?
Is there a way to report this to Apple?
    Thanks, Tom
