IPhone volume button

I have been experiencing a weird behaviour on my iPhone since yesterday. As every one aware the volume up/down button is sensitive , and the down button is too sensitive in my iPhone (Sometimes I won't even feel I am reducing the volume) . It's happening frequently from y'day that , my ringer volume is reduced to max low without even touching the volume button (When I am on the screen as well as off the screen). If it happens when I am on the screen , ringer icon stays on top for some time (app 1 min). When I tried to increase the volume , its not allowing me todo so. If I give about 5 mins ,every thing back to normal.
I am suspecting , the down volume button getting struck in some position and causing this behaviour or Is it do with the firmware upgrade(1.1.1), I did 2 days back. Could any please advice how to proceed on this??
Thanks

Everyone is aware it is sensitive...I don't think that is the case. I own two iPhones and both have volumn buttons that are not sensitive. I have never accidently changed the volumn and when I do try it takes a good amount of pressure for a click of the buttons (not saying I have to push hard, but it is by no means sensitive). It could just be you got a iPhone that just happened to be sensitive. If it a big concern to you, I would suggest an Apple Store where you can show them it is sensitive. They may swap phones for you or at least fix yours.

  • IPhone volume button doesn't work?

    The increase volume button on the side of my iPhone 4 doesn't work. Now my phone vibrates, but I never hear it ring. Any solutions?

    Yes, I have checked the mute button. I have toggled between the up and down buttons, to no avail. Looks like I need to go to the Apple store -ugh! Thanks

  • IPhone volume button won't go up

    I have an iPhone 3G 16GB and just today the volume controls on the side of the phone have been acting up. I have NOT dropped the phone or handled it roughly since I got it. The down volume button works sometimes, but the up volume button does not work. Sometimes the ringer volume icon stays on the home screen until I make the phone idle with the top button. The volume also will randomly go from the volume I set to maximum with no warning. When I try to turn the volume down within setting OR with the button the volume will not budge from the maximum. Sometimes the buttons do work fine and then all of a sudden my ears will be blown out with the headphones in or I am surprised by a ringtone going off at its loudest. I tried to restore the phone and that didn't help any. Leads me to believe that it's a hardware issue.
    Is anyone else having or had this issue?

    Had exactly the same problem with my 2G iPhone, turned out it was the rocker switch at fault, sadly, the module that the switch is on includes some other significant bits and in the UK cost me £100 to fix, but it was perfect thereafter.

  • My iphone volume button and ringer don´t work

    For some reason, suddenly, my ringer doesn´t work when I get incomng calls. Also, the volume buttons don´t work. For that matter, any button on the permiter of the phone works. All other functions of the phone work well. It seems to be a software problem, rather than a hardware one. Please help! Thanks, Jorge

    then i would restore the phone as new.

  • IPhone Volume Buttons:  Too Coarse

    I have "feedback"ed several times over the years that, under the Music app, the volume up/down buttons provide too coarse volume-control resolution.  You get a total of only 16 steps to choose from, and I find that way too few.
    Am I the only person who fells that way?  If not, I recommend you also feedback that to Apple.
    Presumably Apple's counterargument is that you can adjust with very high resolution using the slider control.  I would agree with that sentiment, if people were using the app in the same way that they develop it – on a simulator running on a Macintosh, manipulating the control with a mouse. However, that does not work with thumbs on the iPhone itself, for two related reasons:  First, the slider is tiny compared to the size of a thumb, so the precision is … muddled … by that.  Second, and more importantly, as I remove my thumb from the screen, the slider setting almost always "jumps."
    In short, the buttons are the only high-precision way to adjust the volume, and with only 16 steps total, they don't give us any precision to work with.
    Also, there's almost no downside to making he buttons more resolute, because hitting a button is trivially easy.  Finding the correct button?  Effort=2/10.  One click?  Effort=0.05/10.  Three clicks?  Effort=0.15/10.

    if (there exists a way to make the buttons change the volume more resolutely) {
       how?;
    } else if (my description of my concern suggests that I'm using the buttons or Music app in general unideally) {
       tell me more;
    // and either way...
    if (you agree with my concern) {
       Please also tell Apple (http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html);

  • My iPhone volume buttons won't work, but some volume, no music

    My iPhone will not play any sounds, except for phones calls and my ringer. The volume will not work; when I press them the volume icon pops up on the screen, the volume won't change and the volume bar doesn't move on the screen. Also the volume control slider has disappeared on the locked screen music controls. What should I do? I don't want trade in.

  • Volume button on iphone doesn't turn down

    my iphone volume button doesnt turn down, it just automatically raises the volume again ? help

    This is hardware problem, but to just make certain it is not software related, Restore iPhone with iTunes 10.7 on computer. See if fixed. If still problem and if there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

  • My sister's iphone volume will not go up or down and her ringtones do not ring when she gets a call what should she do?

    My sisters Iphone volume buttons do not work and the phone does not ring when she gets a call yet when she is in settings. What should she do?

    Hi,
    If it's Not the Silent Switch...  Try a Reset of the Phone...
    Turn the Phone Off...
    Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
    The Apple logo will Appear and then Disappear...
    Usually takes about 10 - 15 Seconds...
    Turn the Phone On...
    Cheers,

  • Iphone 4 volume buttons not working

    iphone 4 volume and mute buttons not working, checked all settings they are all fine and when headphones in it works??? When I take out headphones the volum buttons do not work, when phone rings or text receives only vibrates???? HELP!!!!

    This could be due to some debris or dirt inside the  headphones jack that makes the iPhone think that the headphones are connected even when they are not.
    Try to see if you can clean the jack being very careful, with canned air as sold in electronics store.  Some people have been successful by introducing and withdrawing the headphones jack several times in a row to displace whatever is in there if it is lodged in.
    Avoid introducing anything else like a pointed object.  You could damage the jack.
    If all of this does not work, I would try first resetting the phone by holding the home button and the power button together for about 15 seconds or until the whilte apple appears, then waiting until the phone resets.  If the problem continues after this, take it to an Apple Store to see what they believe should be done.

  • How do you increase the voicemail volume on an iPhone 4s ( Verizon ). The phone volume is fine. It is when I retrieve voicemails. Even the speakerphone is faint. I have adjusted the side volume buttons and the volume control in settings.What am I missing?

    How do I increase the voicemail volume on an iPhone 4s ( Verizon )? The phone volume is fine. I have adjusted both side volume buttons as well as the volume control in settings.

    Number one - that person has given you false information...the Apple store genius bar supports all Apple products whether in or out of warranty.  Checking is free, service on an out of warranty item is not free.
    Try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
    Since you show that you have iOS 7.0.3 you might want to update that iOS to 7.0.4...plug the iPhone in so you are on a solid power source, then while on a WiFi go to Settings > General > Software Update and update to 7.0.4.

  • My iPhone 4 is only 14 months old over dropped very well looke after, one day the lock button stops then the volume buttons, now the headphone port does not work and the battery lasts about 4 hours after full charge I still have a year left on my contract

    My phone is 2 months out of warranty, it's never been dropped or miss used yet the past week every day something has gone wrong with it. First the lock button stopped then the side volume buttons. Then the head phone port when I putt headphones in the phone turns the volume
    Down automatically and it won't turn up until I take my headphones back out. The battery lasts 4 hours max after a full charge and today I took my phone off the docking charger and all my music has gone! The phone is breaking down more and more everyday what is going on! I know people who have had there iPhones years an non of this happen! I still have a year left on my contract too!

    Who is your carrier and what is your coverage with them? If you are with say Verizon, and have Total Equipment Coverage or Extended Coverage, they will swap it out for you under Manufacturer Warrantee.

  • The upper volume button on my iPhone 4s is not working

    I had a case on it that pressed against my volume buttons. When I took the case off, the upper volume button stopped working. The lower volume works just fine. Whenever I push the upper volume, nothing happens. The volume works both ways if I touch the on screen volume on my music screen. My headphone volume works fine too. But when I have to talk on the phone without headphones, I can't turn the volume up and it's hard to hear my caller.

    If you decide to get your phone serviced, Apple will give you a refurbished phone, if your phone is eligible for Out-of-Warranty service.
    Out-of-Warranty Service
    If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.
    iPhone model
    Out-of-Warranty Service
    iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c,
    iPhone 5
    $269
    iPhone 4S
    $199
    iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
    iPhone 3G, Original iPhone
    $149
    However, there are 3rd party repair shops for iPhones as well, but once they opened the phone, Apple will not service your phone anymore, in case something goes wrong.

  • My low volume button doesn't work on my Iphone 4, how can I fix it?

    Okay so I dropped my iphone in the parking lot garages of my apartment complex and the ground was cement, when i picked it up the screen wasn't cracked or anything so i thought it was okay but once i started listening to music and I wanted to lower the volume and so I pushed the low volume button but nothing happen....The high volume button works fine but now the low volume button so if you want to lower the volume on my phone now you have to do it manually....Also after the drop i turned off silent mode on the side and the clicking sound wasn't there and I checked in the settings, it said it was on and the volume was on but I heard no clicking sound!!! How can I solve these two problems? Can I go to an Apple Store and let them fix my iphone if I don't have AppleCare?
