Iphone was in water, now in rice: what to do now?

Hi
My iphone was in water for about 10 minutes. It was on. Now it's in a bag of rice. My warranty is past. I belatedly took out the sim card it looks fine. Will Apple replace for $199? Still, I'd rather send it to repair. I see a few places: ifixyouri, ubreakifix. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

There is nothing for them to do.
The entire phone is one integrated circuit board with everything soldered to it.
If the water caused it to short out, which is very likely, they would have to replace the entire board.
Also, your screen is most likely toast.
Entire cost of fixing it will not be worthwhile.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

  • My iphone was in water and im trying to restore it, but get a error code on itunes

When its restoring, it looks like it is getting ready to finnish restoring until it gets to restoring firmware then it gives me a error code, which all it tells me to do is
uninstall and reinstall itunes and restart my devices, which i have done several times. i feel like if i can get past the firmware restoration thing, i can restore it and be able to use it again, but i dont know how to do that, is their a way i can bypass the firmware restore????

If you have powered up the iPhone after the water insertion ii is  likely to be  toast
If the rice trick makes no difference or time is key ,an Apple Store genius bar will exchange for an Out of Warranty unit for $269,  if in US ,similar in other currencies

  • Iphone was in water in the pool, how to start it again?

The iPhone was in the swimming pool - is it possible to start it again?

Almost certainly, no.  You can leave it off, put it in a plastic bag with uncooked rice, and leave it there for a week or two and see.  Maybe (unlikely, but maybe), once the rice has absorbed all the moisture, it might revive.
But, odds are it has shorted out and permanently damaged or destroyed components.
You can get an out of warranty replacement for a fee from Apple.  Or, if you have AppleCare+ for a much smaller fee you can use one of the two allowed accidental damage claims to get a replacement.
P.S. if it is still wet internally, and you try to power it up, you risk simply doing further damage.  Do NOT try to power it on until you have tried to thoroughly dry it out.

  • My Iphone was dropped and now the touchscreen is not working....reset it and recharged and still wont slide for me ??????? what to do

i dropped my iphone and n ow it wont work ...i restroe it and recharged itand it still wont slide for me ....touchscreen is messed up.....everything else ok though???????

Did the reset process work? Have you seen the Apple Logotype after pressing the Home/Sleep button?
If that does not work, I'd suggest to restore iPhone. If even it does not work, your iPhone may need service.

  • My old iPhone was stolen and now I'm wondering how to transfer songs I'd purchased on my old iPhone to my new one. My iTunes account recognizes the sons I've purchased and I can see them in my purchases history but I don't know how to access them. HELP!

So, when I plugged in my new iPhone to my computer, all my music, info, pictures, etc was uploaded from the last time I had synced my old iPhone that was stolen. I'm happy I didn't lose everything, but I also had purchased at least $30 in music on my old iPhone (NOT through the computer, just off my device) since that last sync. So my problem is, my iTunes account completely realizes I've purchased all that music but it is NO where in my purchased library on my computer or new iPhone (so the whole "just right-click and transfer you purchases" gimmick is a no-go). And when I go to the individual songs I'd bought to try and get them back, all it says is I've already bought the song but won't tell me the NO MAN'S LAND that these songs are hiding in!!
I've looked up a bunch of threads and am still unsuccessful. I know that I should be able to get these purchases back onto my new iPhone and my authorized computer but I just have no idea how. It is becoming increasingly frustrating and I realllly do not want to spend another $30 on stuff I've already bought so anything would be helpful at this point.
    Thanks,
    Olivia

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:
    http://tinypic.com/r/107quxu/7
As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • My iPhone was stolen and now I am being threatened to unlock it!

To make it more complicated, I am in England, I had my phone stolen in Amsterdam and now it's in Morroco. Where I'm being emailed by someone with my personal photos, saying if I don't unblock iCloud he will publish all my personal stuff over the web. He is also constantly trying to reset my Apple password.

Unless the photo's are something that would cause embarrassment, I'd tell them to go F&^K themselves.  They'll never be able to sell it or use it after you change your Apple ID password.  Plus your cell carrier should be able to remote disable the phone as well.
I had an iPhone stolen over a year ago.  My carrier is AT&T and they remote disabled the phone as I could not wipe it.  Yes, I had Find My iPhone enabled, and I always have a 4 digit pin code.  The phone never appeared as online for me to wipe it.  So, I just let AT&T remote disable it, and bought a new phone.

  • IMessage on iPad to iPhone was working but now not sending

Had successfully set up and sent iMessages from my iPad to an iPhone 4 but now without changing anything I get the red error message every time.
I have rebooted and that didn't work. I don't know how to select whether to send to mobile number or email but equally it had been working fine and I didn't change anything.
    Any help appreciated.

I have had the same problem. Worked on Saturday and now no longer !

  • My iPhone was unlocked. Now is stuck in recovery mode. How do i backup my files before I restore

my iphone 4 was unlocked (w/ no sim in it of course). i tried to update my iphone to 6.1.3 & in the midst of doing so, it brought itself to recovery mode. i'm ok w/ restoring it but how can i get all my pictures & videos off of  it (if that's even possible).
*might i add, i'm going to be a college student next year & i took pictures of all my documents i'll be needing so I REEAALLLLY need these pictures.

Once iPhone is in Recovery mode, data is invariably lost. Backup is required to be done before starting Restore. Sorry.

  • My iphone was stolen and now the find my iphone is disabled on it. i have personal infos on the apps and own music in the music app and i need to make sure they're secured or erased :((( carrier blocked the phone

Help me please I want to make sure the thief couldn't open the phone and the apps and the music since it all carries personal information and are very important to me. How do I make sure the phone can no longer be used for anything?

If the carrier blocked it, that just means the SIM card in it can't be used to make calls or access the data network.
A 4 digit passcode can obviously be broken. How easily depends on the code you used and whether the thief knows anything about you. In all likelihood, the thief couldn't care less about your data. They want the phone, which has real monetary value.
Next time, turn on Find my iPhone.

  • I water damaged my iPhone and want to get my photos back. My iPhone was ios7 but my icloud synced to my work ipad on ios8. Is it now impossible to view any data from ios7 on icloud drive? Any help to get my photos back please!

I damaged my iphone 5s and want to get my photos back. It was submerged in water for a good five minutes (and is now in rice) but I'm pretty sure it's dead.
I really would like to get my photos back. I wasn't plugging in my iphone and backing up, I just assumed it did it automatically because about a week ago I had a message saying automatic backups were stopping as my icloud was full.
My work ipad is running on ios8 (as of a few days ago!) but my iphone was on ios7 as I didnt have enough space to install the update. This means that my icloud is now icloud drive and I cannot view the stuff from my ios7 device without upgrading it to ios8. Trouble is, I cant upgrade it because it's in a rice bowl.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Any idea if I will be able to access my photos on icloud at all? I'm not very hopeful for my phone working again and downloading things that way!
    Thanks!

Photos that are in the cloud stay there until they are removed by a device that has the right privileges. If your iPad is logged in with the same AppleID, then doesn't it show the photos from iCloud?
You will only be on iCloud Drive if you expressly chose to upgrade.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:
