was wondering why there are different modle numbers for the same modle phone my daughter has iphone 4and i have the same bith same color just different midle numbers and different writting on back these phones were new when we bought them they are not refurbished

Hi Missy,
Do you mean the A number, or the M number?
The GSM iPhone 4 is A1332,  the CDMA iPhone 4 is A1349, the global iPhone 4S is A1387, and the China-only iPhone 4S is A1431.
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/iphone/iphone-faq/differences-between-ipho ne-4s-iphone-4.html
Model A1332 - The Apple iPhone 4 (GSM/AT&T variation) features a flat glass body with stainless steel bordering along the edges.  This model of iPhone requires an AT&T MicroSIM card in order to place calls and access cellular data.  Check the right edge of the casing for the SIM card tray (Released in June, 2010).
Model A1349 - The Apple iPhone 4 (CDMA/Verizon variation) features the same glass construction of the GSM model.  However, Verizon uses SIM-less cellular technology.  As a result, the right edge of the casing lacks a SIM tray (Released in February, 2011).
Model A1387 - The Apple iPhone 4S (GSM/CDMA) features the same body and design as the iPhone 4 but with more powerful features. Apple has added Siri (voice controlled intelligent personal assistant), which can be accessed by holding down the home key. The 4S is a world phone, which supports both GSM and CDMA networks (Released in October, 2011).

Different M numbers could mean a lot of things, like how many GB of RAM, provider, etc...

  • I set up Icloud, now when I try to listen to a song on my ipone 5s it asks me if I want to "download over cellular"? and additional fees may apply.  I've already bought this music, why would there be any more fees?

I bought my first Iphone - the Iphone S about a month ago.  I was able to listen to music no problem.  I recently figured out how to get my photos off of my phone and on to my PC, but was prompted to sign up for ICloud to do it.  Now when I try to listen to music on my phone, it asks me to download it from Icloud and asks "download over cellular"?  "Additional fees may apply when downloading phones over cellular".  I've already bought all my music, why would there be more fees and shouldn't ICloud have mentioned this?  Seems I need to take a class just to figure all this out.

The clouds you see next to your music on the device and iCloud are two different things. When your music is not on your device it is in iTunes in the Cloud. Not the same thing as iCloud which is used to sync information between devices and house backups of your device contents. So that little cloud you see next to your songs is telling you that the music is not on your device. That's why it is giving you the message - because when you click on it, it is attempting to download it to your device.
What may have happened is when you imported your photos to the PC, you may have sync'd your device via iTunes, and you did not have the Sync Music option checked in your device Profile screen.
Hook up your device to your PC and open iTunes. Make sure the sidebar is showing (Control+S if you cannot see the sidebar with Devices listed), and click on your device to open the Device Profile screens to the right. Click on the Music tab, and make sure that the Sync All Music or Sync Selected Music box is checked. If you have Sync Selected Music checked, then below that, make sure you check all music that you want on your device. Then click on SYNC at the bottom (or APPLY).
Once you have successfully sync'd your music to your device, you will no longer see the cloud next to the songs, and you also will no longer get a message since you will have the songs physically on your device and not in iTunes in the Cloud.
    Cheers,

  • Why is there a differance in  to_char(systimestamp) and systimestamp???

    Hi All,
Its strange that I'm getting different outputs from the following. Can someone throw some light why it's happening?
    select to_CHAR(sysdate, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MM:SS') from dual;
    select to_CHAR(systimestamp, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MM:SS') from dual;
    select systimestamp from dual;output---

    SYSTIMESTAMP

    TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'DD-MON-YYYYHH24:MM:SS')
    22-jan-2008 02:01:06

    why is there difference?

    Hi,
SYSTIMESTAMP returns the system date, including fractional seconds and time zone,
of the system on which the database resides.
    SQL> select systimestamp, TO_CHAR(SYSTIMESTAMP,'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MM:SS') mod_systime, sysdate from dual;
    SYSTIMESTAMP                        MOD_SYSTIME          SYSDATE
22/01/08 10:48:59.138000 AM +03:00  22-JAN-2008 10:01:59 22-01-2008 10:48:59As you may see, when I simple select SYSTIMESTAMP, the output is date, time with fraction part, and time zone.
When I apply TO_CHAR to SYSTIMESTAMP and specify the requested format, the output is of the requested form.
SYSDATE is as usual date and time.

  • I replaced a 5C with another 5C, but the new says there isn't enough storage to download all my apps or update IOS.  Why would it be different if it's the same phone?  I deleted several apps to try to make more room but it still isn't working.

Downloading Apps to new iPhone 5C

    Hi CBarreca,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have a new iPhone that is giving you storage space warnings when trying to add all of your content back to it. In this situation I would recommend using the attached article to help figure out where the storage on your iPhone is being used.

  • Why are there 2 different customization directories seen in MDS repository

We are upgrading from 11.5.9 of the applications to 11.5.10. We have noticed that before we apply any personalizations to 11.5.10, there are personalizations already out in the MDS repository in a customizations directory. The customizations directory is in a different location, however, than the customizations directory that is created when we create 11.5.10 personalizations. The already existing personalizations in the MDS repository have a 'customizations' directory that is immediately after the <application name> directory (ie: /oracle/apps/icx/customizations/site/0/por/rcv/webui/IcxPorRcvHomePG). The new personalizations applied to 11.5.10 have a 'customizations' directory that is right after the whole document path (ie: right after webui directory), but before the document name (ie: /oracle/apps/icx/por/rcv/webui/customizations/site/0/IcxPorRcvHomePG).
My 2 guesses as to why these 2 differnt customization directories could exist are:
    1) the path to the customizations directory changed from 11.5.9 to 11.5.10 and the one with the customizations directory immediately after the <application name> directory is the path to old personalizations from 11.5.9
    OR
    2) Oracle puts their own customizations in and the Oracle customizations are found in the path where the customizations directory is immediately after the <application name> directory.
Can someone please enlighten me as to why there are 2 different paths to customization documents?
    Thank you,
    Paula Jernigan

    Paula,
I am assuming by directory you are talking about the path in MDS.
I am pretty sure I have read that the path for customizations did change. We are using 11.5.10 so I cant be sure.

  • Daughter had to get new iPhone why would we now not see each others text messages?

My daughters iPhone 4S was permantly damaged by update 2 weeks ago. Apple sent her a new phone. Now I can't see her texts and mine to her are shiwingbup in squares that look mor like code than words or she does not get them at all
He new phone was setup , according to her, using cloud by her husband.she says she has no problem with texting anybody but me
The exception is when she texted me 2 times while in the car, we had a whole conversation by text without a problem. But from home or work the problem described exists  I should say I have never had a problem texting anybody but her, and only since she got the new iPhone
Any ideas as to why  this would be, are appreciated  help?

Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure only the phone number is checked.
The best way to resolve this is to not share Apple IDs but the steps above will resolve the duplicate iMessage issues.

  • ICal for iPhone-Why is there no custom option for repeating events?

I really hate the application iCal on the iPhone, because it won't allow me to enter in an event that happens on the fourth thursday of the month.
Palm has allowed users to make monthly reapeats by day and by date for ten years now. Why can't iCal do the same? I shouldn't have to use my Desktop iCal to enter in repeating custom events!

You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Why are there two different powercords?

why does the macbook come with two different powercords and under what circumstances should i use them?

The cord with the figure-of-eight connector is basically an extention cord. It replaces the "duck head" connecter to give you a longer lead.
It also has an earth pin. This connects to the outer pair of contacts on the MagSafe adapter and is to dissipate static build up which can sometimes occur. So if you feel a light tingling when connected with the normal duck head, use the extension cable to dissipate the static.

  • Why would I get different sized exe's if I build the same source code and target the same RT target?

Hi Bob P (Dr. RT) et al,
This is driving me nuts! I have a VI that uses different amount of memory depending on which machine I use to do the build.
I use the same build file and the same source.
It is targeted at the same cFP2000.
    FP version is the same.
    LV version is the same.
If I build it from the one machine, there is enough memory available to target the RT platform, show the front panel and do a "show RT engine info".
If I try this from the other machine, the cFP crashes, starts flashing the "status light" and latter on the crash dump file indicate "insuffiecient memory to complete this operation".
The OS on the two machines are both XP. O
ne is a laptop (the one that works) the other is a tower.
Are there any LV ini file settings that could be hitting me?
My customer is seeing the same issue, so it not just me.
    Any clues?

    Hi Bob,
    Few questions:
1)Ftp to your target. Are the exes the same size on disk?
    No
2)Build the exes on the hosts. Are they the same size on disk?
I will have to look at this.
3)Can you determine whether the exes consume the same amount of memory when loaded on the hosts?
They will not run on the host because they use inport/output (to control serial port handshake lines).
4)Does your application call any dlls via an NI driver or custom-built?
THey use the "Settime.dll. At build time the builder says the target OS has its own version of this (and FP).
I'm doubtful that any LV ini settings are causing this behavior. If I had to take a guess, it could be related to dll versioning. Do the hosts have identical versions of *all*
    drivers/dlls called by your app?"
Can you give me a suggestion on how verify this.
I have double checked LV (6.1) and FP.

  • Why would there be an increase in size?

I have had a couple of ipods, all 8gb. Each time I got a new one I cleared my itunes library and started again, and all the music I put on my ipods were taken from my cds. I could always get around 2000 songs to add up to 8gb.
Before I cleared itunes a few days ago there was 1562 songs in my library and they added up to 6.39gb (which has always been about the same, as in that amount of songs for that amount of storage). I have now been reloading my music onto itunes, the same songs of the same cds and currently I have 679 songs in the library and it's telling me they add up to 6.30gb
    So before:
    1562 = 6.39gb
    And now:
    679 = 6.30gb
I don't understand. I'm taking the exact same songs off the exact same cds that I have always used

Previously on the devices summary tab in iTunes did you have 'Convert higher rate bit songs to 128 kbps AAC' ticked ? Though obviously that won't make difference if your songs are already below that.

  • Why would there be both cyrillic and asian writing in my selection for "artists" when scrolling through my "device" under artists, for my device "music" tab, but not listed anywhere that I can find in my Itunes library? Is there reason for concern?

I was perusing my music selections in my itunes account, clearing out useless stuff I don't listen to, and under "My device," under the "music" tab, in "Artists,"
i happened upon what is an artist's name (or a place holder for an artist's name written in cyrillics. Another artist's name two spaces down from that one is written in some form of japanese/chinese. Is this something I can ascertain what it is on my own, is this something that is common, or is this some sort of thing launched by the bad guys to hack my computer?
I cannot find any correlating artists when attempting to locate these "artists," in my Itunes library. This is some freaky stuff!
    HELP!

Possibilities include source files with multiple tags, tags in Reverse Unicode and/or ID3v2.4 format. Select one of the entries so that you can identify which track it belongs to and then investigate back in iTunes. You may want to try using the option Convert ID3 Tags... > None a few times followed by Convert ID3 Tags... > v2.3. This will lose any currently embedded artwork but should mean that the tag data is read consistently by iTunes and any devices.

  • Why would there be 172 gb of "other" used on my hardrive?

What is the "other" and how do i get rid of it?

Basically "other is everything other than user files" Applications, plug-ins,Apps, 3rd party stuff, etc...
Dump as much of the "junk" you have put on the machine.

  • Why would Safari 6 not cache certain cacheable resources?

In our web application, which uses GWT, we have many Javascript resources. In the case of the GWT module's Javascript, the resource is 790kB (226kB gzipped). All the other Javascript and stylesheet resources are cached, but Safari 6 doesn't cache this one for some reason. Some points that may be important:
    - Our server sends this javascript gzipped, and the response does include the header
    Cache-Control: public,max-age=31536000
and I can see this response header, along with a confirmation that this resource is not cached, using the Safari developer extensions.
    - The URL has a .html extension, as is the pattern with GWT applications (it has to do with bootstrapping the module). I don't know if this is relevant, but it is the only difference I could identify between this resource versus others that are cached.
    - This is happening with Safari 6 on Mac OS 10.8.*. Chrome and Firefox on Mac, as well as the IE versions on Windows that we've tested do cache this javascript resource.
    - In my particular Safari environment, there are no extensions installed or enabled, and caching is definitely not disabled (and as I mentioned, all the other static resources that have the same Cache-Control header are cached as expected).
Has anyone else experienced an issue like this with a GWT web application or otherwise? Is the .html extension the the cause of issue? If so, why would Safari care about the content type of the resource when it comes to whether or not to cache it, as long as the appropriate HTTP response headers are set? And why would it behave differently from other browsers?
I spent some time searching for a similar question or discussion but I could not find anything here or anywhere else.

Same problems here on that site with Safari 6.0.5

  • Why would a movie not be viewable on .Mac if I limit access to a user?

I'm trying to post a iMovie to my .Mac and make it viewable by a certain user and password as opposed to viewable by anyone.
The movie, per iMovie, indicates that it is published to .Mac yet when I try and view it my browser (Safari) just keeps saying "loading".
Yet when I post the movie and set it Viewable by everyone - it works no issues.
Why would there be an issue when I limit who it is viewable by?
Thanks for any insight and assistance.

SOLUTION: Added a partition on the harddisk via disc utility (leopard install dvd), and installed leopard on the new partition (use same user name as on old partition if your trying to obtain files on old partition in your user folder - it might make a difference I'm not sure just did it as a precaution) after booting go back and access the files from the old partition. The old partition will show up on desktop when you login to the new partition, copy those suckers(files) over to a external or media source.
Finally if you cant figure the next step out you could completely reformat your whole harddisk install leopard over, and copy the files back over from the external, if your copying library files (applications), i doubt they will work the same on the complete HD reformat.
    Happy Macing ppl =]
If this seems like all too much work for you, maybe someone else has a easier method, because the thought of installing leopard just to recover files is quite time consuming, but it worked in the end so it doesn't matter for me.

  • Why are there numbers not showing up on my verizon online call and texts log?

<< Discussion  moved from All Things Community to Apple for better exposure >>
Why are there numbers not showing up on my call and texts log when i look this up online at verizon? There is one number that my daughter texts and calls a lot i found from her phone log but not one time does it show when i look this up on the Verizon wireless call log???  We all have iphones is there an application or something that can block certain calls from showing up? It clearly has texts on her phone from this number why would it not be on the call log?

    Thank you for your reply.
However, wouldn't an iMessage show up different than a text? It looks just like every other text on her phone.  We all have iphones in this house and they always show up as texts on  the call log but this one number seems to be blocked somehow from showing up on the text log. And there are texts from weeks ago and it's from an actual number not computer or any weird/odd code and yet it never comes across on the text log when i look it up.
If you are correct and it's coming across as iMessage is there a way for me to block texts coming across this way so they all show up on the text log?
