IPhone wifi setup question

I'm using an iPhone 5.  When I am at home and other wifi networks, the wifi always connects automatically.
When I am out, for one particular network (Virgin Media Wifi), I always have to do the following steps:
I goto Settings > Wifi > Under Choose a Network > the wifi network connects but then goes to a web page and then I have to click 'Done' at the top right corner.  Wifi icon at the top right then displays.
In the past I have only had to setup this once, then whenever I am in the zone, it connects automatically. I think this changed when I got a new phone, but I cannot remeber.
Do you recommend me "clearing" all the settings, then reconnecting?  If so please can you let me know the steps or an alternative fix.
Thank you.

I'll second this question. I, also, am an sbcglobal e-mail customer. I also can't get my e-mail to work. Apple points to AT&T; AT&T points to Apple, etc. If one sets up e-mail on a computer, there are places to enter port numbers. Not on iPhone. So far, the Apple folks suggest adding a colon and the Port number after the POP3 and SMTP strings. All very nice, but AT&T wants "SSL" turned on also, and I can't seem to burrow down any farther in setting up e-mail to enter those settings. So, I guess, no e-mail for me. Fooey! At the moment I can detour through the AT&T part of Yahoo's e-mail, so I can work with e-mail a bit. Any thoughts would be most welcome.

  • IPod/iPhone/Stereo Setup Question

I have an iPod Touch 3G, and an iPod Classic. Someday I might have an iPhone 4, someday, when I switch phones or Apple decides to make a 64GB model, whichever comes first I have three Universal Docks, connected to my computer, a pair of RCA in jacks on my main stereo system, and the same on a pair of amplified speakers. I also have a Creative Xmod system that allows for wireless broadcast of music from computer or iPod or whatever you can stick a mini RCA into, out to whatever you can connect the remote units to on the other ends (i.e. powered speakers). It's pretty cool. And, I have a wireless router. Right now, I stick the iPod in the Dock connected to my stereo, select a playlist, and walk away. But I'm looking to take that to the next level.
Here's what I'm looking to do...
Along the lines of the Remote application that's free in the App Store, I want to somehow control the music library on my iPod Touch (not the iTunes library on my computer), remotely, to change songs, playlists, etc. and the like. I have what appears to be many pieces of a pie that might help me get there, but I can't seem to put it altogether.
I can do all of this with the Remote application and the Creative Xmod, which allows me to control the iTunes library on my main computer, broadcast it wireless down to the stereo system, and control it via the iPod Touch. Problem is, it reeks havoc on my wireless network, and vice versa - the music gets choppy with normal internet traffic, I've tried any and all possible adjustments, it is what it is.
I seem to have enough potential pieces to make this work, so...how do I make this work? Is there an app like VNC that would allow me to connect an iPod Touch and an iPhone 4 (someday :)), or is there simply an app that would allow me to control the music library on an iPod or iPhone from another iPhone or iPod?
    Thanks in advance.

To activate your iPod so you can use it you need (per Apple's 4G spec page):
    System requirements
    USB 2.0
    iTunes 10 or later
Mac: Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
PC: Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP Home or Professional (SP3) or later
Broadband Internet access required; fees may apply.
It says you need an internet connection for activation.
You can't use the iPod before it is activated.
Can't you find a computer to use for activation? Just do not sync to that computer since that creates problems when you connect to another computer.

  • Epson to iPad wifi setup? Help.

I am having issues just connecting my xp-200 wifi printer to my iPad 2. I do not have a laptop or desktop computer...just my iPad.
For my router, it's a Comcast with wifi. All is working and connected but for my Epson printer.
When searching for the wifi printer with the Epson iPrint, I get error message of "Unable to find printer...ssid...Home D272...check network settings...".
I can access the router in my browser 10.0.x.x but don't know what to do from there. My router can see my devices but not my printer.
What can I do with my router so the printer will have access?
The Epson manual is short on info. Does not include any iPad wifi setup. Been everywhere looking for answers but going in circles. Yes, xp-200 is supported.
    Thanks a bunch!

Well hey, I figured this out.
Press the button wps on router. Turn on printer, press wifi, and whala, connected!
So while the question was asked, I answered it myself.
    Thanks anyway.

how many miters is the iphone wifi and why dosnt the wifi atchive long rang networks

I don't understand your question at all. I think you are asking what the range is for WiFi on an iPhone. It meets the WiFi standard, which is 40 meters if there are no obstructions, much less if there is anything at all between the phone and the router. My iPhone meets the standard.

  • IPhone WIFI iTunes & email

Whenever I try to "connect" to iTunes "wirelessly" from my iPhone using my 3G wireless I am told that I MUST join a WIFI network to do so.
I have successfully "joined" my home WIFI network with my iPhone 3G and then "wirelessly" connected my iPhone to iTunes, purchased a song & downloaded it.
HOWEVER whenever & wherever I join the ATT WIFI network I find that even though I can "surf" the web
    1. I am told by my iPhone that I STILL canNOT connect to iTunes (but it doesn't say I must join a WIFI, presumably because it know that I have done so)
    2. I am UNABLE to send or receive email using EITHER my "comcast.net" OR my "me.com" account.
Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

    Hey melringel,
The iPhone does need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network in order to access the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/wifistore.html
As for the email accounts, does this happen over 3G and Wi-Fi?
Try deleting the accounts and then adding them again. The iPhone Mail Setup Assistant will provide settings for most email accounts. http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/mailhelper/

  • Airport Time Capsule Caused iPhone Wifi Gray Out

My new Airport Time Capsule (2 TB) and my MacBook Pro connect via wifi, but my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.1.3 upgrade months ago - no problems) did not detect my TC.   The iPhone wifi icon disappeared while I was looking for my TC in the list of wifi signals and wifi is now grayed out in my iPhone Settings.  I tried the various remedies for wifi gray out many people apparently experienced upon iOS 6.1.3 upgrade, but none worked, not even delete/restore.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Has anyone heard of this happening during TC setup?  Thanks.

Apple claims the Airport Time Capsule had nothing to do with the iPhone gray out issue, which they say is an out of warranty iPhone hardware issue. The apparent solution is to purchase a new iPhone 4s for $199.
I had my iPhone a little over 500 days. Let's call it 500 even, which is 720,000 minutes or 43,200,00 seconds.
Qs: What is the probability that a wifi hardware flaw unrelated to my attempt to establish a wifi link to the TC would materialize in the very minute of a link attempt? What is the probability of witnessing the resulting the gray out the very second it occurred?
(I know some of you are thinking the probabilities are 100% for me. Very funny.)

how do i get my Ipad 1 to ask for a wep key insted of a password for wifi setup?

"WiFi setup"?  I'm not sure I understand.  Are you trying to set up your WiFi network from an iPad?
Anyway, the answer to your question is likely this:
Go to Settings > WiFi.  Find your network.  Click the small "i" in the circle on the right of that line.  That probably has the information you are looking for (or the place to set it).

  • IOS8 iPhone Personal Hotspot questions

I have some questions about the Personal Hotspot feature of my iPhone.  I have set it up and have it operational, but there are some quirks that I can find answers to.
    1.  How do I tell what device is using my personal hotspot when it is on WiFi?  All I can see is the banner that says there is a connection.
    2.  When I have the personal hotspot feature turned off in settings, and another device that has previously used the hotspot connects to it from their wifi settings, that turns on the hotspot on my iPhone.  How do I prevent that?  And How do I remove previously connected hotspots from the client iPhone wifi personal hotspot list?

  • Need advice on Wifi setup

I need some advice on the best wifi setup to use for my house's configuration.
Currently I have cable internet coming in at one end of the house downstairs.  I have an Airport Express (circa 2010) connected directly to the cable modem. On the second floor on the complete opposite side of the house is my bedroom/office.  I have an Airport Extreme (2011 5th generation) set up to extend the wireless network.
This has worked fine and we have not had any problems connecting any of our wireless devices to the network.
I also have the airport express set up to use dyndns with a domain name I own so that I can remotely access my network at work.
I have just added a new mac mini to the mix to replace an aging and antiquated Windows Home Server.  I want to administer all the user's (6 kids) in the house, manage photo and itunes libraries and eventually set up a webserver and allow remote access to our home computers.
So my question is this....is there a better way to configure the airport devices?  I would prefer to have the cable modem connected directly to the airport extreme, but then I would be wasting the USB and gigabit ethernet ports as the location of the cable modem is in our living room with no electronic devices in sight.  Since my primary connection for my main computer and the new mac mini is through the airport extreme connected wirelessly to the airport express, I am thinking the express could be the bottleneck.  Would spending the cash on a 2nd Airport Extreme to replace the Airport Express be beneficial or just a waste of money?
    Thanks.
    Brian

Yes, I had considered running an etherent cable to the bedroom, but my wife doesn't like the idea of seeing the cable snaking through hallways.
In the bedroom, I have connected the imac, mac mini and the AEBS with etherent cable.  It's just my connection to the internet that does not have the benefit of ethernet, although the speed I get from my cable internet is much slower than the wifi connection.
I would eventually like to move the cable modem upstairs and use the AEBS as the primary base station and the AX downstairs to extend my wireless network.  However, there is an issue in that the cable modem has to be the only device on the cable connection and I am currently using the cable connection to carry my DISH Network signal and basic cable signal to the bedroom.
I guess my question really boils down to this...Would an AE in place of the AX give a stronger signal to the 2nd AE in the bedroom.  I will turn off the AE tonight and see what kind of a signal I get from the AX downstairs.  I haven't tried it, but I suppose I could also move the Airport Extreme (5th Gen) downstairs and hook it directly to the cable modem and not even use the AX because the signal from the new AE should be as good or better than last year's AX - but then I would lose the gigabit ethernet between those devices - which is why I haven't done that yet.
I could also drop the $$$ on a Time Capsule for the bedroom and use it for all my backups (but that's kinda what I'm hoping to do with the mac mini) and move the AE downstairs to the cable modem.
    Decisions, decisions.

You probably can, but this type of configuration is not recommended or supported by Apple.
Two cautions if you want to try this:
    1)  The Time Capsule has to be configured to "Join" your existing wireless network in this type of setup...and to do that, you must know the exact type of wireless security that your network is using.
    2)  Backups are likely going to take twice as long. The wireless signal must travel from your computer to the wireless router and then from the wireless router back to the Time Capsule.  Two "hops"......even if the computer is located close to the Time Capsule.
If you want to try this, we can tell you how....but with no guarantees on your results....since this is not officially supported.

My iPhone Wifi is greyed out.
In Uruguay in Cellular Center (+598 2 903 3333) that is where I buyed it told me it has no solution, it´s a problem of hardware accepted by Apple, that Apple change the phone in this cases, but that they can´t change it by another new one because their warrantee is 3 months and I bought in december, 2012. It cost me US$ 1,250 and I want a solution because I saw in the Apple web that iPhone warrantee is 1 year and I am still covered by it.
I have the invoice dated December 24, 2012.
Do you have any solution to my problem?
It is hard to believe that a so expensive iPhone has a life of 6 months.
Do I need to take my iPhone to anywhere they can solve its problem?
    Thank you so much.
