Iphone will not accept new email password

I changed my google password in response to Heartbleed. I can log on from laptop BUT I cannot change password on I phone.
I have gone to settings and change
I keep getting message "Password Incorrect" from mailbox. When I type new password in I get the same message....

    I normally am able to access my workplace email (via Microsoft Outlook Exchange) on my iPad. I was required to change my Enterprise (and Outlook) password on my workplace computer. Now iPad will not accept the new Exchange account password which renders all other functions on the iPad inoperative. How do I bypass that Exchange password prompt?

    We have similar issue with our corporate ipads.
    Enter the new Exchange password then reboot the iPad. Exchange should accept the password after reboot, seems to be some peculiar quirk!

    I have setup Yahoo email account. I have several folders within my yahoo account (15+), now the new email notification ( sound and new email icon ) works only on Inbox, If I have new email in my other folder, iPhone will not notify unless I go inside that folder.
    Has anyone seen this problem and is there a workaround ?

    thankyou for your help, i managed to figure it out, heres what i did, it may help others !
    In my wifi settings on both phones had my internet provider name. ( this was the one it would not connect to)
    I went into OTHERS on the phone wifi menu and retyped the exact provider name and BINGOOOO it worked again..
    i have no idea why this worked or why the other one did`nt work but it fixed the problem...now accepts the password i was useing.
    i really hope others out there can read this and keep a few more hairs on there head !

    I had to delete the account and re-enter the correct email and password.  Hope this helps.

    If the old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID.  Then you can go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your ID back to the way it was.

    By 'not accept' you mean ... ? If you are getting an error message then if you post what the message says then somebody on here might be able to try and help.
    For a card to be accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and to have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are.     - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
    If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes

    Hi there.
    Since my situation is very similar, rather than start a new thread, I wonder if I could jump on this one for some clarification & to see if I'm okay to proceed with the Tiger instructions you posted.
    I'm running 10.4.11 on a 17" Titanium PowerBook G4. I have a .mac e-mail address & I'm using Apple Mail.
    I migrated to iCloud several weeks ago & everything's been fine but I haven't been able to get any e-mail through all weekend.
    I logged in to iCloud a short while ago & everything seems fine.
    So could I ask whether the procedure you linked to works for .mac addresses as well as .me addresses?
    Also, can I assume that the messages that are still sitting in my inbox will still be there after I remove the existing account & create the new one, (seeing as they're synchronised with the inbox online), whilst the complex hierarchy of folders I've created locally in the mail client will remain untouched?
