Iphone will not activate on my vista 32-bit

Okay, it looks like, after researching, I'm getting the same error message the 64-bit vista users are getting: "The software required for iPhone is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again." I talked to Apple for over 1 hr, they cannot help. Any clues???

My daughter has an iphone 3gs and it required an update. So i connected the iphone to itunes for the update and the iphone locked up . I had to reset the iphone back to factory settings and now the iphone will not activate , Please advise what i can do to get this working for her ?

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?
What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?

SIM card is inserted, connected to wifi, and connected to iTunes though it tells me it is "unable to continue at this time"
    Any other solutions?

    Hi JG14usa,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you attempted an update on your daughter’s iPhone but the update will not complete. For this type of situation, it may be necessary to place your iPhone into recovery mode and restore. Please use the instructions located in the attached article to complete this process.

  • IPhone will not sync when Windows Vista laptop is offline

Hi there. My iPhone 3GS syncs OK when my Laptop has a wireless connection to the internet but if it is offline, itunes will not recognise my iPhone. It shows up in 'My Computer' as a Mobile device. I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes and quickTime and I have all the latest software.
When I make sure the driver is correctly linked (by following the guidance and going to C:\program file\common files\apple\mobile device support\drivers it says that the driver software is up to date but says it is for a digital still camera. Please can you help me with this as I am unable to alter my iphone content when I am away (and out of a wireless network).
    Thanks, John

  • Iphone will not activate

i have has problems with mobile signal. it comes and goes. this all started to happen when i updated to ios 8. i have updated tot he new ios 8.1 but it still didn't help. apple have checked my device and said its a hardware fault. now my phone decides that it needs to activate all the time but now will not connect to the activation server. connect to itunes and have the same message. i am out of my year warrenty so apple will not repair or replace. neither will my service provider. it cannot be a coincidence that this happened at the same time as the update. it must  have been the update itself that caused it. i heard that the wifi problems with the update caused the wifi chip to be damaged.can anyone help me please.

per your original post :  apple have checked my device and said its a hardware fault
If it is a hardware fault there is no troubleshooting that's going to help you, especially if you took it to Apple and that's what they told you.
I'm sure they gave you some sort of solution to your problem - I'm assuming buy a new phone.

  • TS2846 iPhone will not activate

This morning, I plugged my iPhone 4S in to charge.  When I looked at it again, it had decided that I needed to activate it.  I pressed "next," but I got the message "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable.  Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes."
Alright, I have been trying again over WiFi for the past twelve hours now, so eventually I gave up.  I tried connecting it to iTunes, but I have never heard of an "activate" button, and there is no promt to do so.  Therefore, I decided to restore it.  However I get the message "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "Ioanna's iPhone".  The requested resource was not found."  (Now, maybe this is understandable, as a friend of mine who is an Apple Producer tested iOS 6 beta on my iPhone because his was broken at the time.)  I have the software to restore my iPhone from still saved on my Mac, but I do now know how to tell iTunes to restore from there!
Futhermore, once I eject my iPhone from iTunes, I get the message "The software on the iPhone "Ioanna's iPhone" has expired and must be updated to a newer version.  I try to click on "Check for Update," and I get the message "This version of the iPhone software (6.0) is the current version." What exactly is going on?

  • Wow...Iphone does not work with Windows Vista 64 bit

Preamble: Please spare me the bitchy comments about my being an idiot for using a PC. I give Steve plenty of money with 4 purchased Ipods, accesories, and a behemoth Itunes account. PC is fine for me and I like to spread the love.
    Sooo, here it is...
Incredible, and I can't believe the media has not caught onto this yet as this problem must be the biggest complaint to date. Apple support has confirmed that they are now (after getting thousands of calls this weekend) realizing that even they were caught off guard in the iphone not being compatible with Vista 64bit. As the majority (from what I have seen - with the exception of cheaper line Dells)of PC's shipping over the past few months have the 64 bit version installed this may be a huge blunder on Apple's part. I purchased two phones and spent the weekend uninstalling and reinstalling itunes (per the error message and the instructions of support) before it was realized by Sunday that it doesn't work. Updates? The one person at apple support told me it could be weeks. Back to the store for a return and an argument over the 10% restocking fee.

Actually OS X has a larger population of users (over
Vista but not WinXP) if you look at
    licensed/registered accounts. Various browser sites
that log OS type hits would also bare out this
information. Not many folks have adopted Vista over
WinXP, and even fewer have installed 64bit version of
Vista due to lack of driver support and compatibility
    with existing Windows based applications/games.
Having said that, get a Mac and install Boot Camp to
run WinXP or Vista and also get fully integrated
    iPhone support with your Mac.
Look up the actual sales numbers for Vista, think
you'll be surprised -- your actually the minority not
    the majority.
Vista sales are well below expectation -- Microsoft's
stock is taking a beating while Apple's stock is
taking off. But to solve your issues, I suggest you
run the Windows version of iPhone software in 32bit
compatibility mode -- this should solve it.
    Rob.
To say that there are more OS X users than Vista is false. That's what you believe and want everyone else to believe.
I agree it has problems but like the iPhone they will be addressed.

  • Itunes will not open in Windows Vista 32 Bit.

I am running Windows Vista 32 bit, I have just installed the latest version of Itunes, which installs, when I go to open Itunes, I get an error message, ' MSVCR80.dll was not found. Re-installing the app may fix the problem.' I have triedd re-installing Itunes, same error message, I have also tried deleteing Itunes and installing an older version, still I get the same error message !
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreicated, thks.
