Iphone will receive mail but not send outgoing messages?

Hey people,
So my iphone 3gs will recieve my incoming mail and my passwords are all entered in the system. However, when I try to send out and Outgoing message on my screen appears the message "Cannot Send Mail- No password provided for email, Please go to Mail Account settings and enter a password". In my settings it says that my passwords entered are correct and I can recieve my incoming mail but I cannot send my Outgoing mail. Help!

HI Friend,
I solved my problem filling the fields like SMTP, user name, and password on my outgoing mail server setting as well as your incoming mail server setting. (Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>your account>Outgoing Mail Server: SMTP>tap your Primary Server, check all your info for Outgoing Mail Server).
Hope it will be helpful,

Out of the blue today, my gmail will not send.  I recently upgraded to Mavericks. But I have not had problems until today.  I can receive mail but not send. Any easy suggestions of what to do?

I have been having the exact same problem for weeks now with gmail.  None of my computers will send Gmail (they will recieve) and my Maverick computers (10.9.1) show gmail smtp.gmail.com as "offline".  I had installed Post Box and apple support thought it was that i had too many accounts (I have 2 ipads, an iphone (latest iOs), a work and home iMac and a powerbook).  I disabled all my gmail accounts in Mail and still no go from PostBox either . I tried connection doctor and it just spins for outgoing and say I either haveve the wrong pw or login - I dont.  I terminaled and tested port 465 (according to gmail instructions) and it works (port 25 did not).  I can access gmail from the webmail and send/recieve mail from it and it shows up in my webmail outbox. It is configured for imap.I just cannot send mail at all from any gmail account from any apple device using Mail (or PostBox). I am at a loss as was the apple support person who wished me good luck very politely and sympathetically.

    Hi,
It may pay to send a Screen Shot of the Connection Doctor info.  (see the Window Menu)
It would seem the IMAP or POP side is logged in bit the out going STMP server is not.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if you can then send emails

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try the following:
*Restart the operating system in '''[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safe_mode safe mode with Networking]'''. This loads only the very basics needed to start your computer while enabling an Internet connection. Click on your operating system for instructions on how to start in safe mode: [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode Windows 8], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7 Windows 7], [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/start-computer-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-vista Windows Vista], [http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true" Windows XP], [http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564 OSX]
; If safe mode for the operating system fixes the issue, there's other software in your computer that's causing problems. Possibilities include but not limited to: AV scanning, virus/malware, background downloads such as program updates.

  • I changed my e-mail address a few months ago everything was ok. Starting monday my outgoing mail can not be sent, it says the server rejected my e-mail address. Why ? I can receive mail but not send it

My outgoing mail gets rejected. I can get mail but not send it.It was working for about 6 months.

If the smtp is rejecting your password you should go in.
    Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your Yahoo account in the sidebar on the left.
In account information tab you will see : " Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) "
Click on it and choose edit SMTP server list.
Select Yahoo and click on the advanced tab.
Now fill your new Yahoo password.
    Hope it's help.

  • Can receive mail but not send mail

Hey, I can receive mail but cannot send mail. I previously had bellsouth mail and it worked fine, now I have a Charter.net account and I get a pop up every time I try to send mail saying, Mail couldn't be sent using the POP account Charter.net. I would really appreciate any help that some of you Mac experts could give me. It'd be nice to be able to send e-mail without having to go to the Charter website!
Thanks in advance for your help!

    Ernie,
Is there any chance that this inability to SEND could be fixed by the removal of MessageRules.plist, MessageRules.plist.backup, MessageSorting.plist and MessageSorting.plist.backup that I have seen in other threads on Mail problems? I'm not having a complete failure of Mail, but I can't send mail (only receive).
I have contacted both my ISP (ATT) and my "second party" mail host (Godaddy.com) and all my settings are correct and things should, in theory, work fine -- but they don't!

  • TS2621 Why can I receive mail but not send it?

I've confirmed all the setting for my email account with my IS provider. I can receive email on my iPhone 3GS no problem, but it won't connect to the server to send anything...any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks - that was one of the problems...turns out the IS provider had given me the wrong outgoing server info initially as well...helps to get the right info!

  • I can receive mail but not send

I have changed NOTHING.   I did move, however.   But all providers are the same.   Im still using the same Mac, the same email, the same ISP.
I take my computer to McDonalds (& other public networks) and things are fine.   But not at my new home.
    This is a pain.   WHY???
Ive tried calling tech support for all 3.   All 3 point the finger at the others.   I can see this is a popular issue.
But I can not find a fix for me.

From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Click Check Again and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

  • Why is my mail app not sending outgoing messages?

When using mail application, my outgoing messages remain in my outbox.   If I log into my email through a browser, my outgoing messages will send.
I assumed my new MacBook was setup correctly from the Apple Store.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Check your outgoing (SMTP) mail in mail preferences, make sure that it is set to your mail server and not none or something else. After upgrades, these things can get messed up.
    Best

  • Please Help - Mail 4.3 will receive fine but not send

Everything is the same; my computer has been working totally fine for over a year. All the settings are just as they were...But for the last week it keeps coming up with this message: "Cannot send message using the smtp.live.com" Sometimes it would do this then work again straight away.
I'm in the process of updating to OS X10.6.6 to see if that helps, but don't have enough internet credit so have to use it at work at lunch times.
I can go thru the hotmail webpage and get my mail that way, also my iphone is sending and receiving fine too. But I prefer my Mac!! Any suggestions? Normally I can find answers to my problems straight away with just a quick search but I'm totally stuck on this one
I've tried - deleting all info & re entering it
-someone suggested an outgoing server of smtp.hotmail.com
-setting outgoing server to "none" which for some reason used to work
I'm wondering if hotmail is causing it to stuff up, so I have to go thru their site, thus see their advertising, they get money etc?
    thanks in advance!!

This message would indicate that you have this SMTP set up without Authentication, which if that is the case it is also likely getting presented on Port 25, which most connection providers block.
Change the SMTP to Password authentication, SSL, and change to Use Custom Port and enter 587 -- this prevents Mail for some temporary issue changing to use another of the default ports.
Let me know if this solves.
