Iphone Windows 7 Photos not recognised

I apologise as there are many questions reference the problems with iphones windows 7 & 64bit PC's but I cannot find a solution on here.
I have a new PC at work, 64bit & Windows 7. I do not have itunes on this PC, I just use it for charging & downloading photos.
On plugging the phone in, it see's it, but if I click on the import videos and pictures it says there is nothing on the phone... and there are. Honest!
I've also looked under explorer, which shows me the DCIM folder but that also say's there is nothing in it.
Any ideas? As it's confused the living biscuit out of me!
Thanks
Heidi

Actually, this just appeared in the window next to my last post - and although its ref an XP machine, seems its the 64bit is the problem, not the windows 7

As you probably know by now, iTunes and the iPhone are not supported on the 64-bit version of Windows XP. Though I can't say for sure, my guess is that they never will be since even Microsoft seems to be running away from the 64-bit XP as fast as they can in favor of Vista.
Well in that case - is there a way using itunes you can remove photos from your iphone? If there is, I might just have to 'annoyingly' beg work to allow me to install it. Meh.
Thats irritating. I hate begging.

  • Offline install of Windows 7 SP1 not recognised by Windows Update

    Hi
I have asked this question over at the Windows Community forum, and someone suggested that I ask here.
This question regards Windows 7 and Service pack 1
I bought a couple of new computers, and decided to use the offline SP1 installation on each to get the computers up to date when I first configured them.
So I downloaded the offline update iso from Microsoft, created a DVD and installed SP1.
After configuring my computer, I then connected windows update to get all fixes etc since SP1.
To my dismay windows update has presented me with a list of *all* updates, including SP1.
Is there any way of getting Windows update to recognise the fact that I already have SP1 installed?
    Further info:
This is the procedure I went through.
    1) Built the computers
    2) Installed Windows 7
    3) Installed hardware device drivers
    4) Installed SP1 from DVD
    5) Connected to the internet
    6) Activated Windows
    7) Used Windows Update
    8) Installed the fix/patch required for windows update to work
    9) re-connected to windows update
    10) Was dismayed at the list of fixes requiring download. (around 148)
After going through the process of downloading the updates, at around the time of the second re-boot, the list of updates included Service Pack 1.
AV Software was going to be the next thing to install, after the computer was *fully* patched
    Further Further informatio :)
I have since gone ahead and installed Windows on my second computer.
I'm still interested in finding a solution for future reference.
After installing Windows7 and applying the offline SP1 update, I checked to see what updates were installed before
activation and connecting to windows update.
    These are the updates listed.
    1) Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 (KB976902)
    2) Update for MS Windows (KB976902)
    3) User Mode Driver framework V1.11 (KB2685813)
    4) KB958488 (the list just haqd the kb number, no title)
    5) Hot Fix for Windows (KB2505454)
My original question, and the answers/feedback can be viewed at the following page:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_update/offline-install-of-windows-7-sp1-not-recognised-by/e8ab61d0-8669-4297-acfd-4acc0da8c1dc?rtAction=1427893878897
    Cheers...
    Daz

    Hi Daz,
You mentioned that the SP1 prompted again in the needed updates, I suspect that that is not the full service pack, it is only some changes to existing non-security content, appropriate 10 MB size. you can check the size of the update to confirm
    this.
See more information in this link
    http://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/894199
And after you have manually installed the updates offline, have you checked whether these updates are listed in the "installed updates", or in Update history? And you can check the new detected updates, whether they have been successfully installed
in your system. Meanwhile, when you check for updates online, please check your Windows Update settings, we recommend you to check for important updates, not optional updates or hotfix. You can install the optional update or hotfix when you need it in the
    future.

Install an hardware diagnostic tool like Everest home Edit or similar.
This tool would provide all hardware details about your notebook.
It would list all devices and chipset name too.
I think its Intel chipset so you could find the driver on the Intel page

  • Ipod not recognised by Windows, USB device not recognised

    Hi hope someone can help
I have recently received my ipod back from Applecare who have sent the ipod back in ' working order ' but it will no longer be recognised by my windows. It says USB device not recognised and i cant find, nor will it install drivers that i located on the ipod updater etc.
I have tried several methods on this forum but none seem to work.
The letter from mycare says the iPod is formatted for a computer operating Mac OS X. Although i stated wi use Windows. But the leter states this can be changed bu installing the updater, but this wont make a diff as comp still wont regonise the device after i have followed there instructions. Any advice?
    Thanks

I'm not really up on the complexities of the Windows OS but try this tip I picked up a while back, hopefully it might help.
"USB Device not Recognized in Windows".
    1. On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
    2. Double-click the System icon.
    3. Click the Hardware tab.
    4. Click Device Manager.
    5. Scroll down the list of devices to the Universal Serial Bus controllers
    6. Click the plus icon next to the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
    7. Double-click one of the indented USB Root Hub entries.
    8. Click the Power Management tab.
    9. Deselect the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option.
    10. Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.
    11. Restart the computer.

  • Satellite L300 & Windows Vista are not recognising Ipod

hi, i'm hoping you can help!!! I have been directed here by Microsoft & Apple - below is my issue and also Microsofts response:
i have an ipod nano 3rd gen, working off a near new laptop with windows vista. itunes is all set up, no issues with ipod at all but when i plug the ipod in, it only charges the ipod.
computer does not recognise the ipod at all, in windows or itunes. there is no portable device driver in the Device Manager or anywhere at all.
it is not the usb port as other usb's have been recognised. i've tried in all other usb ports as well. bottom line is that windows vista (and itunes) is not recognising the ipod at all.
i've been in touch with apple, with no avail. i've googled solutions only to find hundreds of other posts with exactly the same problem but no helpful solution. windows vista has no portable device port - how does one get this on their pc???
i've been at this for 4 days now and have uninstalled/reinstalled way too many times and i'm at wits end!! any advice (other than "have you tried another usb port" or "have you reset the ipod" or anything similar) would be much appreciated.
once again, there is no portable/ipod device drive located on this computer. please, i'm really hoping someone can help =)
    *Microsofts response:*
    Hi,
Step 1:Turn USB bus power back
If laptop is configured to conserve power by turning off power on the USB (Universal Serial Bus), it might not recognize a connected iPod.
To turn USB bus power back, you may follow the steps mentioned in the Apple link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1401
You stated Windows vista has no portable device port Normally, all portable devices are connected via a USB port and they appear under Universal Serial Bus controllers in the Device Manager.
    Step 2:Reinstall USB controllers.
First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:
    1. Click "Start", type in Device Manager the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary.
    2. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the "Host Controller", click "Uninstall" and click "OK".
    3. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
Then, restart your computer and windows will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.
    If the issue still persists,
*Step 3:Download and install the latest chipset drivers from the laptop manufacturers website.*
*So here I am with the issue still not resolved. *How do i Download and install the latest chipset drivers in order to have Toshiba Satellite L300 & Microsoft Vista recognise my ipod??*
    Many thanks in advance!

  • Boot Camp Windows 7 do not recognise wifi, ethernet, USB ports and has a scary red light in audio jack output!

    Hi!
I have just tried to install Windows 7 x86 version on my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion and a couple of strange things start appearing:
        1. On the Boot Camp Assistant first screen, I tried to download the drivers and after about 15min the system responding that the server did not responded.
        2. I went further and installed the Win7 without making the ISO as requested by the assistant and with no driver burned on a CD
        3. After installed the Win7 I noticed that it did not recognise the WIFI in my home nor any other in the area;
        4. There is a freaking RED LIGHT coming from my Audio jack output that I have never seen in my life... and that scares me!
        5. The USB ports does not works on Win7 side !
        6. The ethernet does not work, Win7 just don´t recognise it...
        7. There is no Boot Camp on Win7 side to be deployed...
Basically I will use Windows to run Quicken for Windows, but I can´t acces my backups on Dropbox because I do not have intercet access, and obviously I am not going to be able to back up new files.
Is there someone able to help me?
    I have:Boot Camp 5.0.0 / Win7 Ultimate x86 / MacBook 2,5Ghz Intel Core i5 MID-2012 / Memories 4GB amd 500GB/ OS X 10.8.1 / Boot Camp partition with 50Gb for Windows.
    I appreciate all help!

Did you make sure to install the Bootcamp utilities after installing Windows? They can be found in the boot disk/usb flash that Bootcamp creates (check for a folder called "Windows Support").These should enable sound/video/trackpad/etc.to work with full functionaliity under Windows (you may need to reboot after doing so). After installing them, you may also want to run Windows Update to make sure you get the latest drivers.
As far as the red light, many models of Macbook Pros are equipped with a digital Audio out. You can either use the standard analog 3.5mm Stereo jack (standard headphone connector), a 3.5mm miniSPDIF digital coax or miniTOSLINK digital optical cable (hence the red light). Windows may not know how to handle to audio out port until the proper drivers are installed and it may be enabling the digital signal by default. Installing the drivers mentioned above should set this back to normal operation.
    hope this helps.
    Toodles!

  • Non iPhone camera app photos not showing up in iPhoto

When I connect my iPhone 4 to my MacBook, iPhoto only shows thumbnails of photos taken with the camera app.
Thumbnails taken with a third party app show up as empty hash border boxes and I am not able to import them. Why is this? It's dam annoying. I should be able to get hold of any images on my iPhone regardless of what app I used.
(Note photos are always stored on the iPhone in the Photo Gallery)

It's a bug, I think. Many people have reported it on the iPhoto forum, so you might search for a solution there.
See if Image Capture in your Applications folder lets you download all the photos to your hard drive. Worst-case, copy and paste them into an email to send yourself.

  • IPhone Videos and Photos not available for download

I've been using FCP X for a good while now, Aperture, and my iPhone. We're a good team for a serious hobbiest (<--is that even a word?).
I did this morning what I normally do about once a month. Hook up my iPhone 5s to my MBP, fire up FCPX, click import and...
no videos to download? My phone is now full of pictures and videos.
I verified "All clips" are selected and that the "hide imported clips" is UNselected. Should show all my iPhone video and photo content. Always has in the past. Instead, today, I get a total of 27 photos/videos combined. Truthfully, my iPhone indicates 48 videos and over 2,000 pics.
So, knowing my mac a bit, I fire up Image Capture. I'll force this booger to do a manual download to my desktop, then I'll upload to FCPX. Same 27 photo/video combo shows on Image capture.
I restart my computer and my phone. No change.
How is it I have a full phone (only 3gb left of room), jam packed with photos and video, yet I can only "see" 27 of them on my computer but all of them on my iPhone.
Why can't I seem to "see" them and have them available for download? This coincides with the most recent update (since I've performed a download).
Any ideas on how to get my videos off my phone? Aperture is still doing the iCloud skim over fine, so I have all my photos now in Aperture Photostream files.
    Thanks

    As a continuation...
I've done a few pics today and a couple of videos on my iPhone. They are not showing up on image capture or FCPX now. Nothing is showing up, it is as if I have a blank iPhone.
Any ideas how to get my iPhone and mac to play nice?
Pics still skimming over iCloud to Aperture though, which is good.
