Iphone with new com, does it backup my contacts?
Nikki hi, i bought new imac and my iphone has never been plugged on this com, itunes wants to format my iphone but does it do backup for my contacts before it? So if i format my iphone and i want to get my phone numbers back.
You don't select Import for the Address Book app and for iCal on your Mac.
Manually enter one contact in the Address Book and one calendar event in iCal on your Mac. Make this up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. Syncing contacts with the Address Book and calendars/calendar events with iCal on your Mac is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.

It is my understanding that if you delete the account per the instructions below, you will be able recreate, but you will NOT have access to the prior BBM contacts.

You have to remember either the BlackBerryID password, or the secret question answer. Without either, you're stuck.
Your choices are:
--Use another email account to create an entirely new BlackBerryID (with which you will lose access to any purchased apps using the "forgotten" first BlackBerryID, or
--Find the initial email you were sent to confirm the initial BlackBerryID, and in it is a link to click to cancel and delete the account. Click on that, delete the account and then you can use that same email to create an entirely new account.

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your iphone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.

My iphone5 itunes playlist seems to have a mind of it's own, after selecting a song to play it will randomly flash through songs on my playlist without stopping. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you should definitely be seeing a plus sign after tapping Edit, so I would try a couple relatively easy things (closing the Music app, resetting the iPhone):

When updating my iphone with new software it came up on screen with the cable and itunes sign (which is what I should get when restoration has been completed) yet it is still saying restore. I have tried 3 times and the screen won't change. HELP!
If the sign does not go away it has not completed the restore. So you are incorrect when you say it "keeps completing the restore" if that message is still displayed.
Do you get an error message? If so, what is the error number? -

The same way you would sync with any other version of iTunes.
Connect the device.
Select the device.
Select Sync.
In the new version of iTunes, the sidebar is disabled by default. With a device connected, it will be listed in the upper right hand corner.
If you want the side bar back, type Cntrl + S. -

Yes if you backed up your iPhone with iTunes to your Mac. You can restore your phone to the last backup:
Or with a iPhone backup viewer/restorer application like iPhone Backup Viewer or Mac iPhone Data Recovery. But the phone has to have been backed up with iTunes to the Mac.
Other possible applications can be found at MacUpdate.com by searching for iPhone recovery or iPhone backup, etc.
Change your Apple ID password so you wife can't log into your iCloud again and do the same thing. -

although I have googeled and searched in this forum I couldn´t quite find the exact answer to my problem:
Unfortunately, a few weeks ago my Windows PC went kaput. Fortunately, I bought a new Macbook Pro which is awesome.
Buuut I cannot find a possibility to sync my iphone 3gs with my new mac without losing all the information on it. I do not have a backup for the iphone on an external hard disk.
What can I do??

MikeWithout a backup for your iTunes library that was on your PC and for any photos on your iPhone that were transferred from your PC, transferring any iTunes content and photos from your new Mac or from any new computer will erase all iTunes content and photos from your iPhone that were transferred from your old PC. Not all information on your iPhone will be erased when doing so, just iTunes content and photos that were transferred from your PC.
Just one reason why including your iTunes library with your computer's backup along with all other important data is a good idea.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize your Mac with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
