I have a 4 year-old 2GB Power Mac G4 that works great running 10.4.10. I complete dumbfounded and irritated that a brand that prides itself on seamless digital experiences, who is willing to sell me better and better operating systems for my G4, has basically just sold me a $600 paper weight. With USB 1.1 - my computer won't recognize my Iphone - I guess (stupid me) I must realize that I am working with the equivalent of a dinosaur. I really feel let down by Apple. Do they expect me to purchase a new computer? Incredible.

While charging my IPHONE 4S with the USB adapter supplied along with iphone the power line gets blown up every time and I am left only with the option to recharge through the USB port of my laptom.Any remedy?
Have you tried other outlets? That may be an electrical problem in your house, worse case scenario. Try other USB wall adapters.

When i connect my iphone to any PC it gives me a error message that says:
" A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port"
Please help me. Is first time that this happens to me...when connected to a mac it doesn't say anything or show in my itunes.
Please HELP!!!!The iPhone does not always like using a hub, a powered hub you will have a better chance but if too many devices are connected to the hub it wont work... Plug the iPhone directly into your computer to yield perfect results

I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 with iTunes installed. Now my iPhone 4S is no longer recognized in iTunes. Connecting the iPhone with USB sends me directly to the MS app that downloads pictures from the iPhone. Suggest this is a question of missing Apple driver for Windows 8, iTunes and iPhone. MS does not care! This seems to be a general problem with Windows 8 that a number of drivers that used to work with Windows 7 now do not work, ie. iPhone to iTunes, HTC to HTCSync, Samsung to Kies etc. I need this connection to work in order to syncronize with Outlook and my iTunes library.

Iphoto starts when iphone connected with usb to Macbook
After I upgraded to Yoesmite, I have a problem with Iphoto and Iphone. Iphoto starts whenever my Iphone is connected with USB to my MacbookPro.
I often use USB connection so that my Iphone is charged while working outside my home. So it is quite annoying that Iphoto starts up everey time I connect mye Iphone with USB. I want to work and is not interested in Iphoto to clutter up my work and memory usage.
What can I do to prevent Iphoto from loading.Yes all you have to do is open iPhoto on Macbook & select iPhoto Menu Preferences>Connecting Camera opens: "select" NO Application.
Now if you want to send photos from your iPhone & you have iCloud-photos sync turned off, you'll have to open iPhotos & re-select iPhotos
in Preferences again. -

The reason is because my iPhone 3Gs wifi having some problem. So i have to use a USB cable to connect to my computer and let my iphone to connect to the internet .
If i don't do this i would have to keep on running out & in to my room & my living room.
My iPhone 3Gs allows to connect to the wifi when i am in my living room, but once i enter my room the wifi won't be able any more. So please help me out please people
I'm not sure about why i can't connect to my Ad hoc even it's so near, but i can connect to my router if i am in living rooms.
Regards,I believe the next time you sync your phone to itune via the cord, you will have to check the box that says sync via wifi and also enable that setting on your iphone.

My HP notebook 64 bit Windows 8 after the last iTunes update will detect my iPhone 5, sync and when finished with thy sync I start a backup to my computer. It runs fine for a bit and then gives me message I have changed settings on my iPhone 5 and asked me if I want to update. I OK the question and runs a bit more and then drops the connection telling me cant find my iPhone 5. I can restart iTunes and start over and does the same thing.
ITunes update 11.1.1.62 had difficulties with the updates on 64 bit Windows 7 and 8.1 causing an error on boot other trouble. I found solution on research that insturcted to Remove iTunes, Bonjour, Apple Support and Apple Update and reload iTunes old version. I simply reloaded the new version becasue did not have the old version of iTunes. I have been working fine with the old version. I know problem is a simple setting somewhere but it is NOT SIMPLE to me since I dont know where the find the simple setting.

I'm trying again and it just finished syncing fine and my iPhone 5 is still connected to iTuns physcially with USB lightening cable and is displaying the iPhone icon top right. I clicked on it and iTunes is now "hung' or locked up. Shows to be an active running application but can't get back to it so willl have to kill with task manager. There is some kind of problem going on with the latest version of iTunes and Wndows 7 and 8.1 or something. My iPhone 5 now has a new feature that it is now asking me if I "Trust" this computer. iTunes just came "unhung" after several minutes while I was typing this. Now I am going to start the backup to this computer HP Winsows 8.1 and iTune 11.1.4.62 and see what happens. Says it is Backing up Jerrys iPhone but the Barber Pole progress bar is not turning an iTunes is hung again and I cant get back to it from this page I am typing on. Maybe it will eventually release as it did a moment ago.

I have a honda civic with USB port which allows play back of my old iPhone 4 and 4s. With the new iPhone 5 the radio shows the phone is conected but does not show any music content. Any Suggestions?
You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

Battery not charging with usb port but works fine with wall plug.. So the prob is computer is not detecting the iphone5 . This problem started after upgrading to 6.1.3 version
Try to see what happens on another computer. If it works on another computer, the issue is not at the iPhone.

My MacBook Pro does not recognize my iPhone 4 when I connect with USB
As the subject line says, when I connect my iPhone 4 to my MacBook Pro via the USB cable, it normaaaally opens iTunes and iPhoto automatically and syncs and imports photos from the phone. But, for some reason, that doesn't happen anymore... Now when I plug in my iPhone with the USB...nothing happens.
The USB still works as a power charger. I even tried a different newer iPhone USB cable from my friend's phone...same problem. I tried both USB ports.
I update my iPhone, my Mac, my itunes, my iphoto...everything. I reset everything at least a couple times. Still no luck!
I did a Disk Utility verify check...it found no problems, the volume 'appears to be ok.'
The iPhone still syncs with iTunes over WiFi, but unfortunately I can't back up my photos from my iPhone wirelessly (I don't have iCloud set up). I want to do it via USB.
Anyone out there with any advice on how to get my computer to recognize my iPhone?
THANK YOU!!!Ive been struggling with this problem all day, I was trying to upload my pics and videos from my iPhone 4s (version IOS-7) and my computer didn't seem to recognize my phone. Well I finally gave up. My iphone was plugged into my computer via USB, and my iPhoto would not open up automatically like it always had before I updated to IOS-7.
As a last ditch effort I happened to open up my software updates in the apple icon. Lo and behold, once I agreed to update my iTunes app on my mac OSX 10.6.8, it opened my iTunes and a window popped open asking me to click on 'trust this computer'. I did that, and suddenly my iPhoto opened up and filled up with all of my iphone 4s (version IOS 7.1.1) pictures and videos! I could not find an answer anywhere online. I guess the trick is to manually open up iTunes before you attempt to upload pictures/videos from your iPhone into iPhoto. -
I turned my iphone off when visiting the doctor's surgery and now it won't turn back on. It had 73% battery left and I have tried connecting it to my computer with USB but nothing happens. I have taken out and replaced the sim card too. Any suggestions
If wjosten's tip doesn't work try plugging it into a USB charger (not through your computer), wait about 30 seconds and it should come on. If it doesn't remove the cord from the phone and keep trying this. I've had this same issue and found a combination of the reset & charging cable tends to work. Sometimes it takes about 5 minutes for the phone to respond.

My brother has an iMac 700Mhz G4 flat panel.
OS is up to date as is iTunes etc. Other than slower data transfer, will the iPhone function with iTunes?D you have the Aluminum PB? that has USB 2 but I think you need to make sure the OS is 10.4.10 and latest version of iTunes.
However if your PB is an early one with USB 1 then I think (from what I've researched) that it's a slim chance it will work. -
