IPhone won't detect 09 VW Passat handsfree device in order to pair

I just bought an 09 VW Passat and had the dealer install Bluetooth hands free, but my iPhone will not even locate the hands free device in order to pair with it. I was able to pair my husbands blackberry with it, so I know it isn't the car. Is there something I am missing? The dealer said it should work with my iPhone.

Just got a 09 VW Golf with the same Bluetooth install. It requires Direct Sim Access, something that the iPhone does not have or has disabled.
Apple could probably enable this in software ...

  • IPhone won't detect in whole computer

My iPhone 3G can't be detected in my computer on iTunes or even windows explorer for that matter. Also when I plug it in, all my computer's usb ports seem to not want to detect anything either so that leaves me with a usb key and usb wireless mouse that can't be detected either.

First try restarting the computer see if that helps. If not try updating the drivers for the USB ports or uninstall the drivers for them and reinstalling them. Since you are using a windows machine and what is described has nothing to do with the phone further support is best with Microsoft or your computer manufacturer.

  • Ever since I downloaded the new version of iTunes, my iPhone won't sync with the computer. It doesn't even show up.

I downloaded the updated version of iTunes. Ever since then, my iphone won't even come up as a device. Everytime I plug it in, something comes up asking me do I want to trust this computer on my phone.. I've been using this computer for my iphone downloads and stuff for about 6 months now. I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else since the update and is there any solutions?

So, in iTunes, when you look at the shuffle's content (in the sidebar) and click on the playlist under the shuffle, over to the right, the songs are in your desired order, correct?  Where do you look, or what do you do, that indicates the playlists are in alphabetical order?  Are you saying that when you play the songs while using the shuffle, they play in alphabetical order?
If so, when you listen to the songs on the shuffle, are you using the playlist, or are you using the All Songs list? If you are in the default All Songs list, with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order (the middle position), the songs play alphabetically, I believe.
The 3rd gen shuffle uses VoiceOver.  If you are in the All Songs list, you need to use VoiceOver to switch to the playlist (see manual linked below for details).  When you are in the playlist (with the shuffle's power switch set to play-in-order), then the songs should play in playlist order.
There are more details in the manual for the 3rd gen shuffle, which is online here
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_3rdGen_UG.pdf
See page 22 for the section about setting up and using VoiceOver.  The part about switching playlists starts on page 23 (Using the Playlist Menu).

  • FMLE won't detect audio devices

FMLE won't detect any of my audio devices even when I set them to default device. It only detects my microphone, and I've searched online for many fixes and to no avail.

Pretty much same issue. I usually have my audio device set to "what u hear" for streaming (on creative soundcard), so I can pick up both my mic and ingame audio. However a couple weeks back it just stopped registering "what u hear" and won't pick it up at all (even though ive tested in the creative console and it's definitely working), will only let me set to just my microphone. Have found no fixes anywhere =/

  • ITunes won't detect my iPhone 4

I currently use a MacBook Pro with the 12.0.1 version of iTunes, however I also have an iPhone 4 and recently got an iPhone 5. In order to backup my iPhone 4 and put it onto the 5 i need to be able to sync, but iTunes won't detect my device (iPhone 4). I have completely uninstall iTunes so that I can install an older version that is compatible with my iPhone 4.
So my question is, what is the latest version of iTunes available that is compatible with the iPhone 4 software of 7.1?
    All help is appreciated, thanks.

For anyone else having this issue on OS X this post will fix it.
Steps 7, 8 and 9 may not be required in Snow Leopard.

Reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service:
    1. Disconnect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod from the Mac.
    2. In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash.
    3. Move the iTunes icon to the Trash.
    4. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
    5. Enter /System/Library/Extensions and click Go.
    6. Locate the file AppleMobileDevice.kext and drag it to the Trash.
    7. Choose Go > Go to Folder.
    8. Enter /Library/Receipts/ and click Go.
    9. Locate the file AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg and drag it to the Trash. If prompted, authenticate with the administrator password.
    10. Restart the computer.
    11. Choose Finder > Empty Trash and restart the computer.
    12. Download and install the current version of iTunes.
    13. Connect your device to the Mac again and open iTunes & see if you can sync now.

  • ITunes won't detect firmware 4.3.3 for iPhone 3GS

I've read about the problem where it doesn't download it and you have to turn off the firewall etc.  However my problem is that it just won't detect it at all.  I check for updates and it says that my iphone is update to date which is running on a 4.2.1.  I even tried to manualy do by downloading the firmware and going into recovery mode on the phone and shift clicking restore but then it says that the firmware is not compatible with my phone.
The phone is an iPhone 3GS not jailbroken running on 4.2.1.
    Running Windows 7 64bit.
I have the most recent version of iTunes.
I did the whole virus protection being off, firewall off and changing the host file thing.
Nothing seems to work and I'm not sure what else to do here.  I thought perhaps the 4.3.3 firmware wasn't for the 3GS but reading about it seems it is so I'm not sure why iTunes won't detect it.

    Try getting it from here
    http://osxdaily.com/2011/05/04/ios-4-3-3-download/
Download the version for your phone, then connect the phone to iTunes and hold SHIFT while clicking Check for Updates. You can then install the file you downloaded above.

  • My iphone 4s won't detect any wifi networks.

    Hi
My iPhone 4s won't detect any wireless networks.  It was working fine until last night when the connection dropped int he middle of me watching a programme.  At first I thought it was our router, but I reset that about 5 times, and all other devices are working fine on it.  The phone won't detect any other networks either - if I ask to join a network it comes up with the message "could not scan for wireless networks".  I have tried resetting the network settings as suggested on the support page, but it hasn't worked.  Can anybody help?  Thank you.

If no change after resetting network settings on the iPhone, try restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
If no change after that, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

  • My iTunes won't detect my iPhone that has to be restored via iTunes *because if pass code problems* and its running iOS 7.2

my iTunes won't detect my iPhone that has to be restored via iTunes *because if pass code problems* and its running iOS 7.0.4

If itunes is comming up and saying it can't read the device because it's locked with a passcode, you may have to put your device into recovery mode first.
To put your device in recovery mode: (Following these steps will erase your device and reset everything to factory defaults)
    1) press and hold the power button until you see the slide to power off option
    2) swipe to power off
    3) Press and hold the home button while the device is off and connect it to your computer. Continue holding the home button until you see a graphic with the iTunes logo with a picture of a USB cable below it.
    4) iTunes should give you a message that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click ok and then select Restore iPhone. iTunes will download a fresh copy of iOS and then wipe the device and restore it. Depending on the speed of your computer's internet connection this may take a while. Just leave the iphone connected to your computer until it's finished.
If itunes is not detecting it at all or is Not giving you the message that the phone is locked with a passcode, you may end up having to reinstall itunes. This seems to be a fairly common problem after the most recent itunes update (11.1.5)
If this is the case and you happen to be running a windows based computer you will have to uninstall itunes in this order from your programs and features option in control panel:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then download and reinstall itunes from itunes.com try putting your device into recovery mode again and restore.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  • Need Urgent Help! iPhone 3Gs won't detect SIM after update to ios 6.1.3

So yesterday me and my sister's phone was working fine. I decided to update both of them, and when I updated, everything was reset to factory settings. Everything is running smoothly, but our phones won't detect the SIM. Either it says "No Service" or "Invalid SIM" when I turn on Airplane Mode. Urgent, please help!

I performed a backup / full reset / erase all / restore. When the phone rebooted, it appeared to be a clean, new iPhone (unnamed, no apps, no wallpaper, etc). I restored my backup and the notification is still there. I tried doing a hard reboot (home+off buttons), still there.  I will attempt one more reset / erase / restore.

  • ITunes won't detect iPhone after upgrade

I recently upgraded my iTunes (7.3.1) and now it won't sync w/ my iPhone or even detect it. Any suggestions on what I ca do? I removed itunes software, restarted computer and downloaded again- still nothing. in fact now it won't even charge through the USB port!
    Thanks

I believe that the newest iTunes is 7.3.2.
I would try to download again.

Also, make sure that you uninstall all Apple software, ie. Quick Time, etc...

  • ITunes 10.3.1 won't detect iPhone. What can I do?

I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall iTunes 10.3.1 several times since the program does not recognize any idevice I've plugged into my computer. I'm on Windows 7 SP1. Despite my best efforts, I cannot get iTunes to recognize the device.
    Fixes I've attempted:
    - Uninstall/reinstall iTunes
    - Unplugged all other USB devices
    - Checked to make sure all USB cords are working and secure.
    - Unintall iTunes, delete app data in user/AppData/Local/Apple
    - Check to make sure USB driver is updated.
    - Went into Windows services to make sure Ipod Service, Bonjour Service, and Apple Mobile Device services are all on automatic start-up.
    - Turned off Anti-Virus & Firewall to test if those were the issues.
My iPhone 4 shows up within Windows explorer as an unspecified device. I've going through explorer to check the driver it's using to recognize it, and it does use the Apple Mobile Device USB driver.
I'm kind of at my wit's end here. One thing I've notice is that even after unintalling and removing any remains in the program files folder, when I re-install, iTunes remembers the location of my music (which is on an external drive). I have no deleted my library file, as I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this issue. Any advice would be apperciated.

After several uninstalls/reinstalls, I consistently get this message:
    iTunes Setup Assistant
    Warning!
The Bonjour service has been disabled. Bonjour is required for sharing music with others, playing music through AirPlay speakers, connecting to Apple TV, and using the iPhone and iPod touch Remote. Re-enable the service in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
Unfortunately, I've gone into Services already only to discover that Bonjour is already running (and starting automatically. I have a hunch that because Bonjour is not working it is the reason behind my iPhone not being detected. I've downloaded the separate download of Bonjour (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999) but it had no effect. Likewise Renvo Uninstalled did not work (I have a hunch you're trying to promote a product here anyway whiskycollector).
Let's keep looking for an answer!
