IPhone won't except a charge

My iPhone suddenly won't charge, worked fine all day then I went to charge it, it wasn't  charging.
I got home and tried more USBs and other places to charge it. My iPhone 4 won't recognize a charger.
HELP!

Hey Jschieffer60,
These are the recommended troubleshooting steps to take when your batter won't charge:
Battery does not charge
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.
iPhone or iPod touch displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive
If you see the image below, charge the iPhone or iPod touch with USB power adapter for at least 15 minutes:
You should see this image when iPhone or iPod touch begins to charge:
If the screen still displays the low-battery icon, try turning the iPhone or iPod touch off and then on again.
If the issue persists, follow these troubleshooting steps.

  • Iphone won't keep battery charge - this is my third iphone!

After a year of no iphone problems, using wifi all the time (no bluetooth) suddenly my phone wouldn't keep its charge. Apple happily replaced it. The replacement phone had even worse problems within a few days, and they replaced that one too. Now my third iphone won't keep a charge. I have bluetooth and wifi turned off, and I don't autocheck my email messages. With no usage, the battery is down 25% 12 hours after a full charge. I feel like the problem must be on my end, but what could it be? This phone has only been synced with my computer once or twice. I have made NO modifications of any kind to the phone or itunes. Please help! Should I try to exchange this one too?!!

Hey you are not alone Nathan I am on my 4th IPhone and the last one they gave me, The apple store never did a Full Restore I found under settings Calltime of 4 days 21 hours and I had just got the phone the day before I called Apple they told ME to do a Full Restore. lol, there has to be a problem with these Phones Batteries are they not suppose to last more than 5 hours before going RED!!! That is the reason for the new 3g IPhone. But we paid $400.00 plus the new ones pay $199.00. omg Now I know for a fact were all of our monies are going.

  • Iphone won't sync or charge

    hello
my iphone won't sync. my iphone won't charge.
this is probably my 5th iphone, so i'm pretty sure it isn't the phone as this one is new as of 2 days ago. and that one was new as of 2 weeks ago. this last time i even carted my imac in to see what the heck the problem was. before i took it in, however, i tossed all of my music (after i backed it up on my ipod) and tossed itunes since my brother gave me a disc of songs and i don't know if that was infected with anything.
i've tried it in the cradle, i've tried it with the cable, i've tried it on my imac, i've tried it on my hubby's macbook pro with both charge/sync options, i've tried it in my car. nothing.
clearly this is something with my computer as my iphones have been replaced. can someone please help me?
    thanks
    suzanne

I am having exactly the same problem...Just got the iphone on 12/23/07...works great/no problems...2 nights ago, i'm in the car and it starts to make this high pitched electronic screeching sound....next morning, I open the phone and it's dead...no charge at all, which was odd because when I went to bed, it had 1/2 a battery left. So, I tried to charge it and NOTHING...it's like it's not recognizing that I'm trying to charge it. I tried to charge it every which way...on the computer, in the car, in the outlet and in the sync dock. Maybe it's charging but it's just not showing that it is...I don't know but I'm very upset.
Please let me know if you find a remedy to this problem...I understand that if it goes back to Apple to be fixed (or AT&T) it takes several days and then you're left without a phone...I rely on this phone for sheduling for work... hope there's a solution! Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you find the cure!
    Thanx...

  • My iPhone won't hold a charge

My iPhone wont hold a charge. I've turned off most notifications, location services.

I had exact same symptoms on an iphone 4. Try this:
double-press home button to bring up multitasking bar
Kill all running apps (tap and hold till you get the red minus)
    Reboot phone
Worked for me. Probably I had a runaway app chewing up CPU constantly.

  • IPhone won't sync or charge.... Help!

I take the USB cord, connect it to my MacBook, and nothing happens- iTunes doesn't open and my battery doesn't charge. I use the USB cord with an outlet- still no battery charge. By the way, this is with two cords. Then I used my sister's iPhone charger- still nothing. I don't know what to do.
    Please Help!

    You could try recovery mode:

    To enter recover mode:
    1. Turn your phone OFF. If you can't turn it off, FORCE a turn off by holding down the Power and the Home buttons together for 5 seconds.
    2. While your phone is turned OFF, HOLD DOWN the Home button. Keep it held down.
    3. Connect your phone to the USB cable on your computer. KEEP the Home button held down during all this time.
    4. Keep holding the Home button down until you see the iTunes/restore screens appear on your computer and your iPhone.

  • Update software iOS6 and iphone won't open

i just updated software to iOS6 and now my iphone won't open. tried charging but still no luck, what to do?!

    thank you! it worked!

  • HT201210 iphone won't charge or restore, keep getting error message

Last night I plugged my iPhone 4 into the APPLE wall charger and it would not recognize it to charge it, I unplugged it and plugged my iPad into the same charger and it worked so it was clearly my phone.  I called my service provider because I was going out of town today and it was already late at night. I was going to re-activate my old iPhone 3 until I could take it in and get it looked at....that was a nightmare....it's always a sad day when a consumer knows more about a product then the person selling them......she told me to take my sim card out of my iPhone 4 and just put it into my iPhone 3 and it would work, there was no need to call in....seriously??? They are TWO DIFFERENT cards that don't work in one another....if it was that simple would I have really called in the first place.....UGH! ANYWAYS..................so after she hooked up my old iPhone 3 to my husbands account and disconnected his iPhone 4S.....she is real swift.....I put my sim card in my husband's phone to get through the day! WIth my iPhone 4 only have 9% battery left I turned it off and left it over night.  Then this morning while it was turned off I plugged it back into the same charger and the apple sign appeared.....so that would tell me that it's not the charging port that is the problem....except it still won't recognize the charger? I have done a reset...hold the home and power button at the same time with no luck, called apple and followed their instructions of holding the home button and plugging it into the USB port that is hooked to the computer to do a restore, it makes it through like it's going to restore and then I get the following message: The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1604)
If anyone has any ideas please let me know.
    Thanks!

    Hello tsugi1002,
It sounds like your iPhone 4S is not charging when plugged into your computer.  I found an article with some steps that might help with this.  I recommend reviewing the steps in the sections titled "Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter" and "Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off" in the following article:

  • IPhone 5 won't take a charge & won't restore from backup

My iPhone 5 stopped taking a charge. So I updated to 7.whatever & backed it up. It still would take a charge so I went through recovery mode. That seemed to complete (I've done it twice now) However, the phone still won't take a charge and it won't restore from my backup. (Since the initial run through recovery mode it has never accepted the backup. It alway errors out saying the iPhone disconnected. It never disconnected physically and I've tried mutiple cables so which worn on my other iPhone so they are not the problem. If I plug the iPhone in it will cycle between on and off and never accept a charge or allow me to get through the backup process without "disconnecting" Any suggestions?

    Hello GreenLantern17,
It sounds like you are unable to charge your phone and it keeps disconnecting when you have it plugged into your computer, even though you have tried mulitple cables. If you have not already, try charging the phone with the wall adapter that came with it. If it works there,  into I recommend starting with the following USB port troubleshooting for your computer:
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead.
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
    Restart your computer.
Restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you have not already.
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.

  • My iphone won't switch on. I've tried holding the power and home button more than 30 seconds up to a few minutes but it didn't switch on and went straight to recovery mode. It died of a low battery and i already fully charged it i checked with my itunes.

i really need help here. I have only used my iphone for a month. my iphone won't switch on. it died of a low battery and i've already fully charged it and usually before it even fully charged, it will turn back on right but in my case nothing happened. i've tried holding the power and home button for 30 seconds and up to 2-3 minutes but no logo appear. it went straight to recovery mode. there's nothing wrong with my cable, i checked with itunes and  this happened once a week ago but it did switch back on after i tried a few times but now it just won't switch on. i also have problems with my screen as there's some noises to the screen (i hope you get me) and when i turned the camera on, it was as if the whole screen is shaking. i'm currently studying in the middle east and there's no apple store here so i cannot use my warranty. i will only be back home in summer. please help me what should i do to at least switch my iphone on first.

I did a little bit of experimenting. I have an iPad original versions myself. I took it out of the box knowing that I haven used it in months and I expected the battery to be dead and sure enough the battery was as dead as I imagined it would be. For the first 30 minutes I experienced exactly what you are experiencing, but then the iPad suddenly powered up on its own (like it does when plugged into the charger) and I am using it now to type this response to you.
My point is that I am starting tothink that your battery has suddenly died on you for some reason or you have a hardware problem now. I would still try leaving the iPad charge for a while longer - maybe even overnight - and then try again in the morning. Unplug the iPad and try resetting with the home and sleep buttons. Try plugging the iPad in again. Unplug it, try restarting again. Let it charge for a while again.
After trying something like that, if it still will not start up, then I think it's time for a trip to an Apple Store and see what the Apple Techs think.

  • HT1386 why won't my ipad charge from my computer - my iphone does! and where has my facetime and contacts icons gone?

Why won't my ipad charge from my computer when my iphone does? also where have my facetime and contacts icons gone?

A computer USB port does not provide enough power to charge and run the iPad at the same time but it will charge it if the iPad is turned off.  It will take about four times as long to charge than with the iPad charger.
The Contacts icon may be inside a folder, such as Utilities.
There is no Facetime icon.  Start a Facetime link from a contact.

My iPhone 4 shut down in the middle of a conversation and won't restart or charge now. Any suggestions? The nearest Apple store is hours away and I depend on my phone to stay in constant touch with my child's specialist.

I've tried that several times. It will not reset. The screen just stays black. I've never had this problem before. It usually resets the first time.

  • My iPhone won't connect with my computer or charge. How can I fix this?

My iPhone won't connect with my computer. It also will not charge. I changed the white charging cord, but I have the same problem. I connected other devices to the USB and they work. It's strictly the iPhone.
    How can I correct this?

I forgot to mention, the iPhone does charge via wall plug.
