IPhone won't launch my applications

My downloaded applications no longer launch. When I click on them they open up for 2 seconds but then fail and it quickly sends me back to desktop.
The basic apps work like calendar, weather etc. Just the ones downloaded.

i had same problem after routine syncing and inadvertently upgrading to OS4 in itunes.
all apps now working, all i did was restart phone as follows:
hold down both the home button and the on/off button top right of phone.
Ignore the closing down slider and continue to hold until the apple icon comes up
release buttons and allow phone to restart.
got this tip from a google search
Still stuck with OS4 which seems ok but is slow to start up.
Hope this works for you.

  • Finder won't launch and application icons just bounce

    I successfully logged in. But then it went to just a blue screen with the dock on it. No hard drive showed up in the corner. Applications just bounce, then get an unexpectedly quit message. Finder won't launch at all. Tried disk repair, permissions repair; these were all fine. Have no idea what to do next and could really use some help! Thanks.

    I would startup from your install disc. Enable root user which is found under utilities on the menubar, and restart the computer. Then see what happens when you login as root.

    I have Find My iPhone app on the iPhone and iPad and PC. It will launch from PC and "finds" both devices. Running on Mac OS 10.10.2
    16 GB memory
    After I try launching Dreamweaver, a warning about system application memory full forces me to quit Dreamweaver.
    I've tried uninstalling Dreamweaver from CC and reinstalling, deleting my Dreamweaver preferences, restarting computer - all to NO avail.

    Update: Appears to be working again - Updated Java to 8, uninstalled Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 (also deleted permissions), restarted computer, reinstalled Dreamweaver CC 2014.1, and now it finally works again.

  • Double clicking a file won't launch the application.

    I have a problem with Quark 4.11 and Acrobat 5.0.
    When I try to launch the apps by double clicking on my file icon, Acrobat tries to launch but does nothing and Quark gives me a -39 error.
    This happens on all files.
    File I create and files that I receive from customers, so I know that it is not a single damaged file.
    Acrobat has been doing this for several months but quark just started 2 weeks ago. Quark started doing it just after I rebuilt my desktop.
    I should mention that I can open files from within the application or if I drag the file icon on top of the application icon.
    Short of reinstalling the apps, whan can I do?
    Can I zap the pram?
    G4 AGP Mac OS 9.2.x

    Hello Jack,
    In addition to advice already offered I would try allocating more memory to the 2 applications in question. If unsure how to do this...post back.
    Secondly, do a sherlock for Quark.....see if you have several alias of the original app. I would try to only have 1 or 2 aliases.
    Try the memory thing first......Error -39 is a ROM related error. It pertains to "end of file error". I must admit I don't know what that is.
    Also you could try closing a few apps. Then see if the files open the job correctly. This is not a fix but would indicate a memory issue. Lastly be sure you have enough free space on the HD. It could be time to back up and remove some items on the HD in order to create room....HTH........Jim

  • Any idea why this desktop file won't launch the application?

    I have been trying to get this desktop file to work so I can launch epsxe faster. However, it does not do anything when I try to run it. Mind you I do have the permissions and group set correctly. Here it is:
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=ePSXe
    Comment=Enhanced PSX emulator
    Exec=/opt/epsxe/1.9.0/epsxe
    Icon=/opt/epsxe/logo.jpg
    Terminal=false
    Type=Application
    Categories=Game;

    You REALLY do have permissions set correctly? Mind posting a "ls -la /opt/exsxe/1.9.0/"? Have you tried setting Terminal to ture? You could run it in the background with &. Also, have you tried reading the manual pages for your PSX emulator?

  • Itunes 7.0.1 won't launch and freezes my pc

    Didn't want to hijack some other topic as I don't seem to have the exact same problems as people are describing.
    My symptoms
    - When launching Itunes.exe first time I get the license page, as soon as I click agree nothing happens, and my pc won't launch any applications. . The desktop is responding to every click though. It won't even restart/shutdown, only thing working is a hard restart on the pc case.
    The itunes.exe instance stays on the process list, and I'm unable to close it.
    - When launching after the first time I get the exact same, just without the license page (so I figure that info was saved).
    - Quicktime launches perfectly
    I'm running Avast antivir (haven't seen that mentioned anywhere, to be the cause of trouble)
    Not running any firewall app, apart from win xp (sp2) firewall.
    Now I've tried all the stuff I've seen suggested on these boards I believe, I'll just summarize what I've done so far:
    - Uninstalled/reinstalled (multiple times)
    - Cleaned as suggested
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
    and
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
    - Ran ccleaner to remove a blank entry in startup config
    and still no dice.

    just to add, Itunes is uninstalled atm, that's why it's not on the list.
    As you can see I've got a Nvidia gfx card, and I've updated the driver to 91.47 without any luck.
    I saw you asked in another thread about K-Lite codec pack and I've installed version 2.71 full.
    So, where do I go from here? everything worked perfectly with itunes 6 but since 7 came out I haven't been able to update my ipod :/

    Tried uninstalling K-lite codec pack, ran the ccleaner once again, installed itunes with avg disabled, all in vain.
    I would appreciate if anyone had any ideas as to what to do next.

  • Brand new iPhone- won't connect, won't launch iTunes, can't do anything (??

    Hi everyone. I hope someone can help. I just bought my iPhone today at Apple. I walked by AT&T and had an account set up. So, all was well, until I tried to plug it in. Two things have happened.
    First, I can't use the phone. When I plug it in, it does not launch iTunes. I've read in other posts to give it 2 minutes and see if it will. I've also read to launch iTunes myself. I've tried both, and nothing. When I launch iTunes it does not show. It doesn't show on my desktop either, but not sure if it should, since it's new to me.
    Specifically, the only thing that happens is, I hear a chirp or a tone and the screen lights up when I connect the USB cable. But all it reads is "Slide for emergency" which I did...I guess that's for an emergency call. An icon appears in the middle showing the usb cable and an arrow pointing to an iTunes icon. I've plugged it in, so not sure whey this is still showing. Also, at the very top it reads "no service" which I guess is due to it not being set up yet. And, there's a little "lock" symbol at the top. That's all I get. I've tried rebooting. Nothing. I've tried repairing permissions, then rebooting. Nothing. I cannot get this thing to connect.
    Second, and please hear me out on this one. I've used macs for a while and am generally knowledgeable about them. Also, i've been on this iMac for about 5 months, hooked to the same internet connection. However, for whatever reason, after trying to plug the iPhone in, my internet and web applications have gone to complete crap on me. The WILL NOT connect at high speed...it's unbelievably slow. Insufferable even. Now, i've used this every day and have a really good idea of how it reacts. This is 100% out of the ordinary. As I sit here typing this, this page is STILL trying to complete loading. Something is clearly wrong here. Some pages won't load altogether. I've tried resetting my modem (disconnecting, unplugging). Performance was exactly the same. And, as mentioned, i repaired permissions. So, it's a little more than coincidental to me this happened immediately after running into troubles with my iphone connection. It's like the iphone somehow messed my computer up.
    Sorry for the long post. I hope you can understand that I'm very frustrated. It appears that, not only can I not get my phone to work, but it seems i've messed my computer up in the process somehow. Any suggestions? Please. Thanks for your help.

    Hi all-
    For anyone reading this, I've solved both problems, and figured i'd post in case it could help anyone else.
    First, the iPhone issue. I figured it out by reading another post here. Basically, in the start up items of your "accounts" in system preferences, there's an item called iTunesHelper. I had that unchecked. I can't remember why...I guess b/c I believed I wasn't using it. Anyway, I had read that that could be a problem, so I checked it, rebooted, and low and behold....the iPhone connected and launched iTunes. I'm now up and running. Phew.
    As for the internet sluggishness, I don't know what was causing it. But, I just booted from the Leopard dvd, ran Disk Utility and repaired permissions as well as verify disk. Everything checked out. Rebooted on Macintosh HD, and everything was fine. It's as if it never happened. Very weird. But it's fixed.
    Hope that maybe helps someone in someway...if your iPhone's not launching iTunes, try checking the iTunesHelper app in your startup items. Worked for me.

  • IPhone won't auto launch iTunes anymore

    I just updated to Lion and the new version of iTunes. When I plug in my iPhone, however, iTunes won't launch and autosync anymore. I checked the settings and, based on my preference settings, it should autolaunch. I tried to click and unclick on the setting, restart the computer, etc., but nothing will get iTunes to launch when I plug in my phone. If I launch iTunes manually, it will immediately begin syncing however. Any thoughts how I can go back to the old way?

    Same issue here. iTunes 10.4 doesn't seem to automatically install the iTunes Helper in your user login items.
    Here's what I did:
    Navigate to the Applications folder
    Right Click on iTunes and select Show Package Contents
    Navigate to Contents/MacOS/
    Double-click on iTunes Helper to get it running. This will allow iTunes to start when you plug in your iPhone/iPod
    Open System Preferences and go to Users & Groups
    Select the Login Items tab to view the list
    Drag iTunes Helper from the Finder into the Login Items to get it to run at login
    Sim

  • IPhone 3rd party apps won't launch anymore!

    After updating the iPhone software to 3.1, a host of 3rd-party apps won't launch anymore (appear for 1 second, then revert back to the apps icons page).
    I've tried upgrading to iTunes 9, uninstalling then reinstalling ALL apps on the iPhone via iTunes, hard rebooting my iPhone, restarting my iMac, etc etc, but nothing works.
    On a iPhone 3Gs page on the Forums, I saw many others having similar difficulties and blaming it on the XX upgrade. One solution proposed there was to download a free app from the App Store and install it. Tried that, and it didn't work for me.
    I hope Apple will give this attention, because it's basically disabled my iPhone's business-sensitive functionalities (like 1Password) on the eve of a 2week business trip ... and on business trips, I don't have my iMac with me! >:-(
    In case it helps the OS is showing as 3.1 (7C144) on my device.

    Hi!
    I may have a solution to your problem. I updated to Firmware 3.1 today and couldn´t open any application i downloaded. I seems the updated version of iTunes handles apps a little different from before. When you connect your iPhone and it pops up in iTunes, right click on it to enter your configuration area (for the iPhone). At the top bar you have a row of options like music, pictures, podcast and somewhere in the middle you have the option "Programs". Click on that and you will see a list of all the programs you have downloaded in iTunes. Unfortunatly you have to recheck all the boxes at the left side of the program you want to be synched to your iPhone. Check these boxes and click "Apply" at the bottom right and iTunes will now transfer them to your iPhone. Easy breasy when you know how to do.
    Best of luck, Cheers!

  • Non-Apple applications won't launch

    On Intel iMac, recently many non-Apple applications won't launch, including Photoshop, Indesign, Quicken, Filemaker, Techtool Pro. On the other hand, Mail, Safari, iPhoto, iTunes, Pixadex, Ultralingua all launch just fine. The non-launchers quickly present the window with Ignore, Report..., Relaunch; and using Relaunch just brings the window up again.
    I've tried Disk Utility, both from the drive and from the OSX install disk; Time Machine back to just before the problem started; removed .plist file from Preferences: all to no avail.
    While this problem started one week ago, we have had a new iPhone 3G since July 12 (since I see a few discussions with the same error codes related to iPhone).
    Below are the error reports for Photoshop and Filemaker, and some system info.
    What can I do to fix this? Thanks!

    No idea what caused it, but your PPC emulator is definitely hosed and doing a clean installation would probably be less time consuming than figuring out what the problem is.
    This is also all very old software that was never meant to run in Leopard at all, so you should consider the possibility that some of it will simply never work.

  • Photoshop Touch for iPhone 5s won't launch

    Hi I Just bought photoshop touch for the iPhone 5s it won't launch. I tried clearing up space but that didn't work. I currently have 6gb available. PLEASE HELP! Thanks

    does it help after restarting the device or quitting all other running applications?
    If that doesn't help a re-install from iTunes might help.

  • Why have my notes and contacts been deleted and my applications won't launch

    I tried using my iPad mini today but both my notes and contacts have been deleted and my applications either won't launch at all or launch for a few minutes and then shutdown. I also tried to download another app which said had been downloaded but I couldn't find it anywhere, the same thing happened with another app I downloaded. It was working fine yesterday and I haven't updated it or done anything out of the ordinary since then. What's wrong?

    There are some simple troubleshooting steps you can take.
    Be sure you drive is not overly full. Rule of thumb would be over 85%.
    Create a new User go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" (make it an admin acct) and test the apps in this new account, if they work the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide.
    If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
    If your apps functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
    Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
    If the issue is systemwide then, you may be able to repair this with the The 10.6.2 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
    Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

    Hi Janice,
    What version of Mac OS are you using?
    Adobe does not recommend migrating the software from one disk to the other.
    Please run the setup file for Acrobat and reinstall the software. You might want to delete the existing version of Acrobat installed before reinstalling it.
