If all those steps are tried, try another computer to rule out phone/cable issues

Do a registry cleanup. Use a program like Ccleaner.
Restart the computer
Reinstall iTunes from scratch.

    Hello there, TempestBelcher.
It seems you've covered all the bases, but feel free to review the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant for connectivity here:

If you've followed all the instructions then there are a few good recommendations for what to do next in the last step.

  • IPhone won't sync properly since upgrading to new iTunes and iOS5

    Hi,
I'm having great difficulty syncing my iPhone properly since upgrading to the newest software of both.
Ever since upgrading to iOS5 and the newer iTunes (10.5), my phone will start to sync but then get stuck on 'waiting for items to copy' and most of the time doesn't copy across (or back, depending on what it is). Sometimes if I sync a few times it eventually works, but other times, like at the moment, it won't do it properly. For instance, I've bought a song on my phone but now it won't copy across to the computer, and iTunes on the computer thinks I've already downloaded the song so I can't get it off there. It's incredibly frustrating but it used to work so well!
What can I do to make it sync properly? I was hoping a fix would be in iOS5.0.1 but I upgraded to that yesterday and it still does exactly the same things. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

  • Two iPhone 4's registered to same person under same iTunes account?

I just received an iPhone 4 as a work phone from the company I work for.  I was wondering if I can register this phone under the same iTunes account that my personal phone ( also an iPhone 4) is attached to without messing anything up on my personal phone?

The other poster has provided you with incorrect information. Fact is, you can sync as many devices(the iPhone is a device) as you want to the same iTunes account, there is no limit. You can have the same content on each device or different content, the choice is yours. iTunes will keep everything straight, by device, upon subsequent syncs, including separate backups. There is a 5 computer limit for authorized computers, but no limit to the number of devices that can be synced to the same iTunes account.

  • Iphone won't show as a device

I just upgraded from a MacBook to a Macbook Pro running MacOS Lion
I have registered / authorised my new itunes application with my apple ID.
I have just tried to connect my old Iphone 3GS - and it recognises it as a device, but won't let me manage it without wanting to sync back to the original settings. There's a whole bunch of stuff on there that I need, since I have just upgraded to the iPhone 4s.
The 3GS doesn't show up as a device under image capture, Picasa or Iphoto. there are photos on there that I need.
Also, there are apps on there which for some reason no longer exist on iTunes - and so weren't downloaded whn I restored my purchases from the App store to my new MacBook Pro.
Any ideas how I can get 1) the photos and 2) the apps off the old iPhone and onto the new - bearing in mind that if I sync it, it will restore to what I have in my itunes library i.e. it won't have the stuff I want?
    Is a registration issue?
    Thanks
    Makro

Folks have fixed this with a simple restart of the Phone and/or the Mac.
Some have needed to reset the Phone.

  • My iPhone won't charge on certain devices it seems to work on one on one day and not on the next day.  Weird,  and I got kleptogirl in and out all the time

It will work on one ; one day, and not the next day, but on third day it works again what is going on?

When I was searching for people that had the same problem as me, I found one that said to go on amazon and by a new charger flex. I got the new charger flex and my iPhone charges again. It is not that expensive and my iPhone charges now

  • My iPhone won't register on my laptop!!!

My iPhone charges fine from the adaptor but will not charge when plugged into laptop through USB and will not appear in My Computer or iTunes either. Does anyone know why this may be?

I've tried all USB ports on my laptop, it was working on my laptop about 2 weeks ago before the update of iTunes. It also charges when plugged into other laptops, just not mine.

  • My iPhone 3GS is not showing in "devices" on my iTunes. Tried everything that Apple advize but still not working. Any suggestions please? :)

Hello, hope someone can please help. I've had my iPhone 18 months, not had any problems with using it. Trying to update the software to 4.0 on iTunes but it's just not recognizing it at all. It's not there under devices (infact, even the heading "devices" isn't shown), Tried a different USB port but that didn't solve it.
Have changed my startup (using msconfig) as Apple suggested, but again still nothing. Have downloaded the latest iTunes and *again* not working!!!!
    Any suggestions please?

Perhaps you have already done this, but I'd be sure to verify that it's not your cable...try a different cable and that will eliminate that as a source of the error.

  • IPod Touch 2nd generation won't turn on and won't show up under Devices on my iTunes.

I was trying to restore my iPod touch because it was locking itself and flashing. When I tried to restore it, the iPod turned itself off completely and won't turn back on. I've tried pressing the lock button and the home button at the same time, and I can't do anything from my computer because my iPod isn't showing up under Devices or Computer. If I put it in the USB port it opens iTunes, but isn't showing that it's plugged in. I have used different USB cords, switched USB ports, and tried charging the iPod, but it still won't turn on. Please help!

You should get it serviced, see your service options here:
    6. My iPod is not eligible for warranty service. What are my service options?
Apple offers two options for iPods that are not eligible for warranty service (see below). You will need to provide credit card details for these services. If you do not have a credit card, please take your iPod to your local Apple Retail Store.
iPod Out-of-Warranty Battery Replacement Program: If your iPod requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, you can have the battery replaced for a service fee by using the Online Service Assistant or at your local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.
For more details, please refer to the iPod Out-of-Warranty Battery Replacement Program Frequently Asked Questions.
Out-of-Warranty Service: If your iPod requires service for any other hardware failure that is determined by Apple to be repairable, Apple will service your iPod for the Out-of-Warranty Repair Service fee.
If you want to set up your iPod for the Out-of-warranty service, we recommend that you take your iPod to a local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.
If Apple determines that an iPod is not repairable, for example, if it has failed due catastrophic damage or the iPod has been disassembled into multiple pieces, then Out-of-Warranty Service is not available and the iPod will be returned. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details.

  • My iPhone is not showing as a device  in the itunes window. I authorized the computer but still not showinh

I am unable to see my iPhone in the itunes window. I authorized the computer but it still will not show. Under devices it is not listed. Any suggestions?

You do see the devices heading on the left sidebar? If you don't see the sidebar, go to View>Show sidebar in the iTunes menu and then check to see if the device appears.
If that isn't the problem, go through the troubleshooting steps. It could be the Apple Mobile Device Service issue.

  • IPhone won't turn on but shows up in iTunes?

Hi everyone. My iPhone suddenly shut off after a phone call, and since then won't turn on. Unfortunately, I cannot restart it because a few weeks ago my lock button stopped working. When I plugged it into my computer, it is showing up on iTunes but is still not turning on. No idea what to do. Thanks for all your help!

Hopefully and most likely faulty battery. If you have Warranty or AppleCare, make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution.

  • My iphone won't turn on and wont connect to itunes

I just got an iphone 4s from a close friend who was going to throw it away because they gave up on this problem and i dont want to. The iphone has never been exposed to water and I'm sure it's fine. It looks brand new, no scratches or anything of the sort.
I have tried charging it. I have tried connecting it to itunes (itunes wont find it no matter what i do. I have even restarted my computer with the iphone hooked up to it and that did not work either.)
I have tried to enter DFU mode. Nothing comes up. I am presuming that it is dead but I'm not sure. As i said, I just got it and it was from a friend. I have held down the home and start buttons for numerous amounts of time and nothing seems to be working. Is it actually a piece of trash? What should i do? I really want to fix this, as this may be my only chance to actually own an iphone.
Apparently at one time it did work. I'm not sure when it was broken or how it was broken but I am unsure of what to do.

  • IPhone won't update recently playlists as listed on iTunes

So I have all the new updates for the 3GS and my iTunes. I noticed now after i download music and they show up in my recently added playlist, after syncing they don't show up how they use to. This is annoying since its a quick reference for me to play new songs i just downloaded. Anyone have any ideas? Is it the new update?

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try restarting your iPhone.
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments. Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

  • IPhone won't sync after upgrading to Leopard

My iPhone won't sync, or even show up in iTunes, after upgrading to Leopard. I've tried restarting my Macbook Pro, trying different USB slots, closing and reopening iTunes, everything. Has anyone else had this problem??
    I've tried everything apple suggests:
    1. The iPhone battery might need to be recharged. For information about charging iPhone, see "Charging the Battery" in the iPhone User's Guide.
    2. If that doesn't work, disconnect other USB devices from your computer and connect iPhone to a different USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard).
    3. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: If you enter the PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to contact your carrier for a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable your SIM card again.
    4. If that doesn't work, restart your computer and reconnect iPhone to your computer.
    5. If that doesn't work, download and install (or reinstall) the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.

You might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service. Follow the link below for info on how to do this.
