IPhone won't send email

My iPhone 4S won't send emails. I can receive emails just fine but I can't seem to send any. Each time I try to send an email it says my password is incorrect (which is isn't). I've checked my STMP server to make sure the information on it was correct but when I typed in my password it wasn't responding. Any other suggestions or solutions I could try to fix this problem?

Hello Chantelle103
If everything checks out, then the only other option is to remove the email account and then add it back. Then test with sending out the email again.

  • After installing ios 7 my iphone won't send emails, any fixes?

I have followed the suggestions and deleted the email account and then set it back up using the same settings.  I have also tried rebooting my iphone 4s and that didn't make any change.
It was always really slow sending emails (2-3 minutes or more), but now it won't send them at all.  I know my email works as I also use it on my laptop and I am receiving and can send emails from the same account.

The error that comes up says "Cannot Send Email - the onnection to the outgoing server "mail.persona.ca" failed.  Additoinal Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars"

  • IPhone Won't Send Emails

Situation: iPhone will receive but not send emails via the email app.
My experience: I was getting SMTP error messages for about a year. I tried the workaround whereby you edit the smtp.example.com but that did not work. The following worked.
    1.          Go to Settings.
    2.          Scroll to Mail, Contacts, Calendars then tap to open.
    3.          Under Accounts, tap the email account.
    4.          Scroll till you see the red button named 'Delete account'.
    5.          Push the red button named 'Delete Account'.
    6.          You will be returned to Accounts.
    7.          Tap 'Add Account...'.
    8.          There will be email account options (with icons). Tap your email provider.
    9.          Type in your email account after 'Email'.
    10.        Type in your password (required).
    11.        Click 'Next' (button, top right of screen).
    12.        Your iPhone will then be 'Verifying'. Wait.
    13.        If it works, you will be taken to Hotmail options.
    14.        Click 'Save' (button, top right of screen).
    15.        Your iPhone will show you 'Adding' then 'Added', then take you back to Accounts.
    16.        Send a TEST email to another account.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • My 5s iPhone won't send email

Starting just after the new year I can no longer send email from my Gmail account using my iPhone 5s.  I have the newest iOS, and have already tried deleting and re-adding the gmail account.  I'd really like to be able to send email from my phone...

When this error pops up, are you on cellular or wifi, and if wifi, home or work?
Some corporate wifi's block access to personal email sites.   That error is exactly what I get while in the office, but if I step outside and go on cellular, it works fine.

  • Yahoo calendar in iPhone won't send email reminders

When I add a calendar event from my iPhone 4s and set reminders for it, I do not get email reminders for the events. I used to reminders emailed to me even on my iPod. This started in the past week. If I add events to my Yahoo calendar from my PC, I still get the email reminders. I would really like to get the email reminders from events added to the calendar from my iPhone. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I am haivng the same issue too.
According to some other posts, I deleted and readded the "Me" record in the address book. When creating a new calender entry I set it to send email. When the notification pops up it's just a normal alert and no email.
    Any ideas?

  • My iPhone won't send email messages - but it can receive them!

If, following a password change on you AOL account, you find your iPhone will no longer transmit/send out email messages, but can still receive them, it's a quirk of the system . . . but you can fix it easily.  Here's the why and how:
Transmit problems after you change password for AOL.  This would be no problem except that the iPad and iPhone allow you to alter only the incoming email password 'manually' (to match up with AOL), but won't allow you to change the password for "SMTP" sending of email, i.e., outgoing messages.  Of course, if you can't update BOTH to your new AOL password, it means you can only receive emails; not send.  Thus, to update both receiving and sending, you have to REINSTALL AOL:   Here's how:
    (a) in Settings, select Mail, Contacts & Calendars,
    (b) under Accounts, select AOL (if you only have AOL on that device, it will automatically be pre-selected)
    (c) With you AOL email address in the "Account" line, select "Delete Account" and confirm,
    (d) once deleted, go ahead and perform a "soft shutdown" of the iPhone:  hold down the "off" button of the iPad/iPhone to shut down the whole system, then turn it back on a minute or so later by holding down the "on/off" button for a couple of seconds until you see the white Apple, giving the system time to restore to a normal desktop, then . . .
    (e) go back to Utilities :: Mail, Contacts, Calendars :: under Accounts select "Add Account" and follow instructions (not hard),
    (f) once that's all done, go back and look at your AOL account and be sure the "SMTP" part is turned "ON" with the green toggle switch.    The new account will be ready to use immediately, with the new password working for sending and receiving emails.
    (g) send yourself a "test message" to confirm that it transmits and is also received with no error messages.

TThe issue is with your email account charter, especially if the error message states the your outgoing mail server is wrong.  not an issue with your phone, software or Apple.

  • Iphone won't send mail - does receive

This seems to have been discussed ad nauseum, but I can't figure out the solution for me.  I get the following message when trying to send or reply to emails "iphone won't send email  a copy has been placed in your outbox.  the sender address ______was rejected by the server".  On wifi everything works, not when I am off though.  My email provider is Roadrunner  (.twcny.rr.com)
Everything was fine up until yesterday.  I don't know what could have changed.....
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having same difficulty.   Was on tech support this AM and they couldn't figure it out either.   I'm setting up a home wifi in next few days, will be interested to see if situation changes.   My iPhone seems convinced that I'm [email protected] and tries to originate email from that address, only to be rejected by server as you describe.  I can receive email that is addressed to [email protected], but even replying to such mail gets the same error.  I'm beginning to suspect an ios5 bug, or there's something else about authorizing email addresses than is covered in documentation.

  • IPad won't send emails but iPhone does. iPad message says server does not recognise email address resetting account makes no difference what else can I try?,

My iPad won't send emails despite identical settings with iPhone which does work. " server does not recognise email address" resetting account fails to solve issue. What else can I try?

Have you checked ALL the settings including the port assignments? Easiest way to get those back to is to delete the email account from the iPad then redo the email account. Usually the ISP providing the email account will have instructions on their web site.

  • HT201320 my iphone 4 wont send emails

I'm having two major issues. First, my iphone 4 wont send emails. Second, my deleted emails keep coming back. Help!

If your phone won't send emails most likely you did not enter your username and passcode for your mail account a second time, for the outgoing mail server.
Deleted emails coming back is a more complex problem. This will occur if a mail fetch on a POP3 account is not closed properly. This can happen if you attempt to read email before it finishes coming in. When you open the email app wait until all email arrives before reading and deleting it. The phone will beep when the retrieval is finished.

Hi, I am wondering why my iphone won't send pictures through messages, I have MMS on and I have tried sending it with 3G on aswell and still doesn't work. Someone please help me :)

    Hey lozza567,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending MMS messages. The following resource may provide a solution:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
Issues with sending and receiving MMS
You will need these to send and receive MMS:
    - An iPhone 3G or later.
    - iOS 3.1 or later.
    - A cellular data connection. MMS isn't available if you are using only Wi-Fi.
    - A domestic MMS plan from your cellular provider. You may need an international messaging plan to send MMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information.
    - A roaming MMS when using a cellular provider's network different from your billing cellular provider's network. Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps first
    1. Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
    3. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
    4. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you are roaming on a cellular provider network different from your billing provider's network.
    5. Verify that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar at the top left of your iPhone.
    6. Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
    7. Verify that you can send and receive SMS. If you are unable to send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above.
    8. MMS may not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
    9. Restart your iPhone.
    10. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
    11. Reseat your SIM card.
If you are still unable to send or receive MMS, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you are sending a group message.
    3. Make sure that you are using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
    4. Verify a "Pay as you go" MMS plan has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if unsure of your MMS plan or available balance.
    5. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    6. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact from the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    7. Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
    8. If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process may not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
    9. Contact your carrier to verify that you are provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
    10. Contact your carrier to verify that there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
    11. Your carrier may require APN settings to be modified to use MMS. Learn more about when you should adjust APN settings.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

Why does my iPhone 4 keep sending emails instead of texts via iMessage?

This was driving me crazy but I've cracked it!!
Go to: Settings, Messages, Send & Receive.  My mobile number was greyed out and wouldn't allow me to select it.  My email address was highlighted but it also allowed me to "Add An Email".  I selected my current email address and it gave me the option to delete it.  Once I deleted my email address, it automatically reverted to my mobile number!!
Hip hip hooray.  I can relax at last.

iPhone won't send outgoing mail since upgrade to 5.0

I would manually go over each smtp setting and compare it with the mail providers guide
and if they were 100% the same then I would
get in touch with the phone company to verify if they were blocking the ports being
    used by the mail service
there is no general issue with ios5 removing out going mail services or blocking ports
