Iphone won't show up in itunes, but it's connected to my computer.

When I plug my iphone into my computer, it recognizes the iphone and shows up as a device in my computer.  When I open itunes, it says that no device is connected.
How do I fix this problem?

  • IPhone won't show up in itunes but does show up in iphoto (?)

So my iphone won't show up in itunes, but is recognized by iphoto.
I did recently sync the music on the phone with another itunes on a windows pc because I was getting on a flight and wanted to hear the show that I had just seen and downloaded. Could that be the issue?
I figured when I got home I would just re-sync it to my own itunes and it would just delete what I had already listened to but no such luck. It is not even recognized: itunes could not open iphone due to unkown error.
I've already used the troubleshooter, and have restarted etc. Any ideas?
    Any help is much appreciated.

Try another usb port or this:

  • Updated to 3.1.3, now iPhone won't show up in iTunes

Updated to 3.1.1, now my iPhone won't show up in iTunes. iTunes starts up when I plug in my iPhone, but then SyncServer.exe just sits there running taking up 50% of the processor. Everything worked fine before the 3.1.3 upgrade, now it doesn't.

I have to uninstall it to get the update to work, then reinstall it.
Arrgh. Seen that before with CA too, Greg. (I've seen a couple of error 9s caused by CA just in recent days.)
There's some advice from CA on configuring it for iTunes in kalda01's post here:

(Fingers crossed, one of those documents will be applicable to your particular CA product.)

  • How do i sync an audio book that i purchased in Itunes to my Iphone? It shows up in Itunes but not on my Iphone podcasts., How do i sync an audio book that i purchased in Itunes to my Iphone? It shows up in Itunes but not on my Iphone podcasts.

If it's an Audiobook, then it's probably in the Audiobook section of your iPhone. Have you set your iTunes to Sync Audiobooks with your iPhone?
Alternatively, if the Audiobook was imported into your iTunes Library as as Music, then it's going to be in the Music section of your iPhone. If so, then it will be in the Music section of your iTunes Library. To move it to the Audiobooks section, select it in the Library and choose File/Get Info/Options>Media Kind where you can change it.
You can change it to a Podcast, but since something is only a Podcast if it is delivered to your iTunes as a Podcast download (which is a process for delivering files without you having to go and find them), then your audiobook is not a Podcast and you may forget (in the future) how you obtained the book in the first place

  • My iPod won't show up in iTunes but it does in my pc, isn't iTunes problem!

My iPod won't show up in iTunes, but it does in My Pc. And I want to say that is not an iTunes problen, cause I have an iPod nano, and it works perfect with iTunes and with windows. My iPod won't show up in any computer at all, so I have read all the articles here in Support, and none of them give me a solution. I need to restore my iPod but I can't cause doesn't appear in the source list in iTunes. Do I have to send it to Technical Support? Please Help Me someone, cause I've been posting messages for one week now, and I haven't got an answer!! Pleaseee!!

You can try putting it into disk mode to see if it makes it easier on iTunes to recognize it.
To put your iPod into disk mode:
    1) make sure your hold switch is OFF (NO ORANGE SHOWING)
    2) hold the menu button and the center button at the same time for about 6-10 seconds until you see an apple logo
    3) AS SOON AS you see the apple logo, release the two buttons and hold down center and play/pause
    4) If you've done this properly you should now see Disk Mode Ok To Disconnect with a checkmark (when connected to your computer you should see Do Not Disconnect with Disk Mode at the top)
After you have the iPod in disk mode...see if iTunes picks it up then.
    Keep me update.

ipad is disabled and i had connect to itunes. but when i connected to my computer, its not sinc automatically , still ask me to enter the pascode first. so how can i restore my ipad ? seems my laptop didnt know or never get sinc with my ipad.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • Iphone won't show up in itunes no matter what!

I'm having the same non-sync problem that others are having with itunes 10.1 on Windows XP Pro SP3 not ever acknowledging my iphone. Could my graphics card have any effect on this? I have an Invidia Quadro FX 3400.4400 currently in the slot.
If my iphone isn't plugged in my itunes comes up and runs just fine. If my iphone is plugged in, itunes comes up and it's all gray, album covers and everything. Pretty soon, several minutes, the colors suddenly appear in itunes but then it's "not responding" and never shows an iphone for a "device." I've rebooted both iphone and computer. Itunes dianostics reports there is no iphone connected and the USB green arrow in the status bar only shows my usb printer is connected. I think the iphone used to show up there. Another thing, during all these circumstances I've described, I can see the iphone in my explorer directory and can even browse the photos on it like it's a hard drive. That's with no device showing on itunes and no USB connection showing in the task bar on the lower right.
What could possibly be more confusing that that? If I reinstall itunes, do I lose all my music? How can I ensure that I won't? I've spend two days loading songs in and now itunes won't see my iphone (3GS running 4.1) and that's the only reason I did the music! Help.
From what it sounds like, if we have 1 million iphones out and only 50 people are complaining, then there really is no problem. Boy, you guys are sounding more like the government everyday!

  • My iPod touch won't show up in iTunes, but charges and shows up on different computers.

My iPod touch 5th gen last was synced with my iMac a couple weeks ago. Now when I plug it into iTunes, it won't show up. It's done this before and I've fixed it by updating iTunes, restarting the iPod/computer etc, but it seems I've tried everything. I've connected it to different USB ports, and it charges in all of them but doesn't show up. When I plug it in, Dropbox recognizes it and can get the pictures off, but iTunes won't work. I tried connecting the iPod to a different computer, and it showed up in iTunes just fine. I have the latest version of iTunes. I didn't restore my iPod from the other computer because if I can't get it to re-sync with this computer I'd rather not lose all my data. It seems I need to reinstall iTunes, but I don't know how- will it delete all my music that I already have on there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

I had this issue, I fixed it by going to:
Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers
Then find the iPod, and Right Click > Properties > Hardware > Properties > Driver > Update Driver > Update Automatically
The driver had not been automatically installed, and windows found and installed the driver files for me. Took ~90 seconds, and then the iPod began it's sync process almost immediately after. Hope this helps anyone with the same issue! I'd try this before re-installing iTunes.

  • My 2nd Gen iPod Touch won't show up in iTunes but does appear in My Computer

When I connect my 2nd Generation iPod touch to my laptop it will not appear in iTunes. It does, however, appear in my Computer.
I have worked through all of the troubleshooting guides on the Apple Support section, and have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice.
This message appears every time I plug my iPod in, and frequently whilst it is still plugged in charging:
'MobileMe Service has stopped working.' This is a pop-up window produced by Windows, I know this is the 'service' that picks up an iPod's prescence but stopping and restarting the service does nothing. My iPod still won't show up.
Please help, I am willing to faff around a bit. Might it be a problem with Windows itself? If so, how would I go about fixing it?
    Thanks in advance,
P.S I have the latest version of iTunes, and the operating system of my iPod is 4.2.1.
My version of Windows Vista is 32-bit.

I have the same problem with my 2nd gen itouch.
I've tried other computer and my childrens iPods work on my computer so not a windows problem.  I've tried reinstalling iTunes and resetting itouch as per apple support pages but nothing, it doesn't even show on my computer. Any help greatly appreciated :-)

  • ITunes bought on iPhone won't show up in iTunes Library on laptop

if I buy a song from iTunes while on my phone, shouldn't it be in my iTunes library after I sync?
I have a total of 53 songs on my phone, but only want 41 of them, but iTunes on my laptop is showing that I have only purchased 23 songs.
none of the music that I bought from my phone since the last sync is showing up on iTunes library on my laptop.
Essentially, there are songs on my phone that I don't want anymore, so I want to get everything off my phone and into iTunes, so I can manually drag the songs I still want back to my phone. I thought when I synced it, my entire iPhone/Ipod music library would go to iTunes on my laptop, and I could pick and choose what I wanted to drag back to my phone manually, but it's not working out that way. iTunes is almost empty, and only has the 23 songs I had when I first synced it forever ago, not the 53 songs I have currently. I have always only purchased songs while on my phone, so why are some of them on my iTunes Library, but not the most recent ones?

Don't know (though it would be 30 songs, not 20). A third-party utility, of which there are many, for transferring content from an iPhone back to iTunes might do the job. Check out this post from Zevoneer for some suggestions:

  • My iPhone won't show up in iTunes

I have deleted all Apple software and redownloaded it (everything is updated)
My iphone won't charge from my computer, but it makes the "noise" when I plug it in and take it out. (So i'm assuming my USB ports are okay) It does charge, however, when I leave my phone plugged in and restart it, when it goes to the Windows screen, but as soon as that goes away, it stops charging.
I tried to see if my USB ports were working but under device manager, it's blank. My plug and play is on automatic.
It has worked before, but I'm not sure what happned. This computer is almost a year old, nothing is wrong with it.
And the cord works because I can charge it through the box in the outlet.

Yes. I have updated iTunes, checked the cable, I have Apple Mobile Device Support installed, and I restarted my iPhone.
I can't verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB driver is installed because my device manager is blank. But I did delete everything and redownload it so it should be there.
