IPhone won't stay connected to Wifi....period

I have to start a new discussion because I cannot find the answer anywhere else. I wanted to give this a shot before I go to Apple/Verizon and/or go back to my Droid.
My iPhone 4S will not stay connected to wifi at all. I can connect no problem, and then once the screen shuts off or I move the phone the wrong way it disconnects itself.
I've done everything I could to try and remedy this, I reset the network settings twice, restored my phone three times, and reboot my wireless modem countless times. My wireless settings are fine, I can't figure out what else to do. This is getting rediculous.

If this is happening after you've restored your phone as new and with every wifi network you connect to, it's a hardware issue. The phone needs to be replaced

  • IPhone won't Stay connected to Wifi, please help

i will connect to wifi, and everything will be ok when im on the phone. but when i lock it and set it down for awhile then go to unlock it the 3G is there and not the wifi symbol. i am wanting to know why that is. it hasn't done it before until now. i recenlty restored my phone because of some other issues my phone was having. those issues are fixed as far as i can tell. but this issue has just appeared. i have also been away from home so i am not on my home wifi, i am on my friends wifi. i feel as if my phone doing this that it is killing my battery alot faster then it should. so my question is why is it doing this? thanks for the help.

It is doing this because this is the way iOS is designed to work.  Turning off Wi-Fi when the device is asleep and not actively using the Wi-Fi saves battery life.
Now, if the device were streaming audio or doing something that would use the Wi-Fi and stay active when the device is put to sleep, the Wi-Fi will stay active as long as that apps/feature is still using the Wi-Fi.

  • IPhone 4S won't stay connected to wifi

iPhone 4S won't stay connected to wifi? Fix?

i have a similar problem except i've a 3GS.  i took the phone to the "Genius Bar" and the "Geniuses" there did nothing more than clean out the lint that had accumulated over the past three years.
here's the link to my thread:  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3947285
I've done everything possible with the phone and my router at home (though, as you can tell from reading what i've done, anything related to my router at home is moot because th eissue persists anywhere i go...)  all i can think is that it's a OS issue some how.  I may try to wipe and install an older OS or jail break it to see what happens.
My bets are on what people have said to me though in passing:  this is Apple's way of making people want to move onto the iPhive (name trademarked by me!) due to frustrations with their iPhour or iPhthree (that doesn't work so well does it...).

    HI:
It does not sound like a battery problem.
    Try a couple of things:
    1.          Reset the SMC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    2.          Reset (if you can) the PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
If that does not help, delete the mouse in system preferences, turn it off, restart, and turn the mouse back on.
    Barry
P.S.  I only needed it once, but I have an old USB mouse in case my Bluetooth one decides to quit.

  • Apple tv won't stay connected to wifi

my apple tv won't stay connected to wifi.  what's the issue?

Answers can only be as helpful as the details provided.  And in this case none were give.  What is happening?  Error message?  Other WiFi devices have issues?  It is actually losing the connection or is your streaming content just freezing?
Trying to do streaming video over WiFi is not a great idea.  Even if you are using the really high end WiFi hardware it will never be completely solid.  You really want to use a wired connection for that.

  • My unlocked iPhone won't stay connected to my wifi

I've had my unlocked iPhone 4 for about 3 weeks and I had no problems connecting to any wifi, but a couple
of days ago it stopped staying connected. When I go in to settings and the to wifi it wont even pull up any wifi networks.
How can I fix this? If I reset network setting will it lock my phone back up?

Ok...if that doesn't fix my wifi problem do you have any other solutions?

  • IPhone 4S not staying connected to wifi?

I have both iPad and iPhone connected to same wifi, but my iPhone 4S does not stay connected.  I have tried to reset network, restart iPhone and they do connect but disconnects shortly afterwards.  Can anyone help me?

Did you solve this problem? My new MacBook Pro 15" running 10.8.2 has exactly the problem you describe with our new Netgear N600. The other devices in our house (iMac running 10.5, a PC and an iPhone 3Gs) have no connectivity probelms at all.
I have no problem connecting with my MBP at work or elsewhere. The problem is just at home with the N600.

  • Brand new iPod touch won't stay connected to Wifi

I got a brand new white iPod touch for Christmas, and I can get it to connect to the internet and I can use the internet, but then after a few minutes it drops off the connection and I have to go back in and reconnect it. I know there isn't anything wrong with the wifi connection at my house because I have an older iPod touch (3rd generation) and it has always connected and stayed connected without a problem. My mom and brother also got the same iPod touches for Christmas, and theirs do the same exact thing.

Change the router SSID (network name) and password to something shorter than the defaults.  If you dig into the router configuration web page you will find a short SSID.  My SSID is 5 characters long, and the password I use is 10 charcters long.

  • My iPad 3G 2nd edition, won't stay connected to Wifi

It will connect usually when I first wake it up from sleep, stay connected for a few min (2 min to 20 min) then suddenly stop, once I lose it I can't ever get it to reconnect for more than a minute, sometimes it loses the connection all together and can't find any networks!  This happens on my home network, at the coffee shop, everywhere I try it, even when the iPad next to me has no problems.  I have tried resetting the network settings, turning it off/on, downloading latest software, messed with all the Internet settings, turned off 3G, I can't seem to fix it.  Please help, I'm ready to chuck this thing out the window soon.  I'm not computer illiterate, it's an apple product, I shouldn't be having these kinds of problems!!! :(

  • FaceTime won't stay connected on WiFi on iPhone 4 after iOS6 update

My boyfriend and I both have the iPhone 4. We rely on FaceTime to video chat with each other as he lives in another city from myself and our daughter. We used FaceTime almost on a daily basis over WiFi prior to updating to iOS 6. Since updating to iOS6, neither of us can get FaceTime to maintain a connection to the other for more then a few seconds. FaceTime connects, then the screen goes black says reconnecting and it's a 50/50 guess as to whether it will reconnect and we can see each other for a split second before it goes black and reconnects again or just simply disconnects us. This has been happening for weeks now. I've been in touch with Rogers "technical" support and was told that since we only have iPhone 4 and are using FaceTime over WiFi that they can't do anything to help and I need to contact Apple as it's an Apple Server issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions other then telling me to upgrade to the iPhone 5 so we can use FaceTime over 3G?

So you're saying that it's only your phone that has the wifi problem? Like your friends are using the same wifi as you, but only you lose connection while they don't?
If that's the case, does the wifi have a passcode? And also some wifi networks have a verification before the wifi becomes accessible. For example, you may connect to a wifi network without having to put a password, but then you would need to open Safari and you would need to confirm some things before you're able to use it. Like in college, the wifi is free and open to everyone but only students who have a user and pass are able to access the wifi.
2nd possible solution is to reset your network settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if that works.
3rd, restart your phone by turning it on/off.
4th, restore your phone on iTunes.

  • TS1398 iPhone 5 won't stay connected to WiFi

My phone sees the networks and connects but then it drops.   This started happening after the new iOS 7.1 installation.  Here's what I've done so far to try to correct the problem:
    reset all the network settings
complete restore of the iPhone, twice. Once using iCloud once, not.
Nothing seems to work.   Could this be a hardware issue?

  • Airport Express model A1084 won't stay connected to wifi network more that 2 - 5 minutes

I have an old Airport Express (lets call it AE1), probably one of the originals, model no. A1084 that I have networked to an AT&T wifi network. I am running Airport Utility 5.6 for Lion to configure it to my 27" iMac running Lion. I reset the device and configured it and it connected to the network fine. It showed up with a green dot in the AU5.6 utility software, it even shows up on the new Airport Utility software on Lion, but for some reason the device will not continue to show up on the device list on the AU5.6 software. If I unplug the device and plug it back in, it shows up in the software for about 2 -5 minutes then disappears again. The light remains green on the device the whole time. AE1 is configured to "join the existing network" and to be used for a USB printer or for playing music. It is not configured to "extend the network" or to "create a new network". I have a second Airport Express (AE2) on the same network (configured the same way as AE1) that I use for attaching my Soundsticks to, to play music and that Airport Express works fine. Is there a problem with having two Airport Express units connected to the same network? The base station wireless modem from AT&T is in the same room as AE2, and AE1 is in a room two floors above. I have also tried to connect AE1 to a room below the AT&T modem and had the same problem in that location. I have run Software Update to see if AE1 needs to be updated but there is no indication from software update that one is required. I have reset and reconfigured AE1 many times and it doesn't help. Unplugging AE2 from the network and running AE1 by itself in the network does not solve the problem. Is there something wrong with AE1?

Have you tried temporarily replacing the audio cable with a pair of stereo headphones? If so, do you still get the audio drop-outs? How about with an optical digital connection?
