IPhone won't sync. Required field cannot be found.

Help! How on Earth do I identify what the "required field" is, and fix it?

Tried it, didn't help. Some more info that maybe will help spark an idea. It appears that after the restore, it successfully synced music, movies, video podcasts, and even the originals of my iPhoto files. The only thing it appears not to have synced were viewable photos from iPhoto along with the albums.
Any other ideas to try.

Hi, Itunes won't sync my photos to ipad from elements 11. itunes doesn't show drop down list of albums and says Ipad "......cannot be synced, required folder cannot be found" i have tried re installing both programs but no luck. pls help!!!

I managed to finally fix the problem in a relatively painless way. It turned out that the problem wasn't on my phone, the problem was with iTunes. I completely uninstalled iTunes from my PC and then reinstalled it and everything was fine.
In order to completely uninstall iTunes, I did two things:
Used RevoUninstaller to uninstall iTunes. This cleans out a bunch of extra things that the normal iTunes uninstaller misses.
Searched for any iTunes folders/files on my computer (using the freeware utility called Everything) and deleted them manually.
I hope that works for you.

  • All songs in library won't sync to ipod (cannot be found).

I have a 6th generation ipod nano. I recently switched from a different computer to my new laptop. I wiped my ipod of all it's old songs and tried to sync my collective purchases onto the nano. However, about 84 of 257 won't sync because they "cannot be found." I had these songs on my old ipod that's "corrupted" and put them on my new itunes using my itunes account. Is there something wrong with my ipod or is it my itunes (or operator error)?

I have noticed that it seems to be a bit rate size problem. My iPhone only adds songs or vids less than 127bps. Now, it's possible that it could be slightly higher, but that seems to be the limit of the stuff I have. Nothing 158bps or 160bps or 192bps or 256bps syncs over, though it did last week! Is it possible this limit was inadvertently imposed in the last update? Problem only appeared after last iTunes update. Could have been with 3.0 update but I don't think so. However I have noticed when they do sync, after I play them or partially play them they disappear from the playlist on the iPhone, should I go to another app and them come back to it.
I don't want to reduce the bit rate, I want iTunes to fix itself, gol-darnit!
Anyone know of a solution or heard of this?

  • Error message Ipod shuffle cannot be synced. required disk cannot be found.

I just bought the ipod shuffle. I loaded about 110 songs. Then the next day I wanted to load just 9 more and it wouldn't let me giving me the "cannot be synced. required disk cannot be found. Please answer. This is frustrating.

I remember getting that msg periodically when I got my shuffle, but now it's extremely rare [I've not seen one in more than two months].
I donno what causes it, but what always worked for me was to eject the shuttle, un-dock it, quit iTunes, launch it again, cycle iPod power (turn it off if it's on, and on if it's off) once or twice, put it back on the dock, and voila!

  • 2 error msgs while synching to I-pod touch.  "An error occurred while writing to the device.  Also, I-pod cann be synced, required disk cannot be found.

Two error messages appear while trying to synch to I-pod touch.  "I-pod cannot be synced.  An error occurred while writing to the device."  Second msg:  I-pod cannot be synced, required disk cannot be found."

The latter error can usually be resolved by deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder.  See the following for its location.
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
For the former error, I would try again.  Then I would reset the iPod and try again.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next I would restore the iPod.

  • TS1493 ipod nano displays cant sync. required disc cannot be found.  what do I do??

I have just bought a 6th gen nano.  when trying to sync it I keep getting the message Cant be synced. required disc cannot be found.  Any help on getting around this???

What have you tried in terms of troubleshooting so far?  Has the iPod ever been able to successfully sync with this PC and iTunes before or is this the first time you are connecting it?
I would first make sure you are plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port directly on your PC and NOT through a HUB.  If possible, use a different USB sync cable to rule out a damaged/faulty cable as well.
Is the Enable Disk Use option ticked from under the iPod's Summary tab in iTunes?

  • What should I do when I see this error message: iPhone cannot be synced required disk cannot be found?

What should I do when I try to sync my iPhone 4s with a MacBook and get the error message: "iPhone cannot be synced...required disk cannot be found?"

Close "iPhoto" if it is open. Open the "Pictures" folder and right-click on "iPhoto Library." Select "Show Package Contents." Right-click the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, select "Move to Trash" and sync your iPhone. The error message should no longer appear.
    if that doesn't work,
uninstall itunes and download the lastest version

  • "Cannot sync ; required disk cannot not found"

haha this is now the 2nd shuffle I have plugged into my computer and can no longer load any songs onto it and have deleted existing songs on 1. (1 being brand new and one being the shuffle I have always used with this computer). I go to transfer 1 song (I have even tried autofill) and it pauses for the longest time and then gives me the error "The Ipod "name" cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found". Anyone know what this "disk" happens to be?? I have yet to try with my Ipod mini in fear that I will erase all the songs off of there as well. Ive done the 5R's and all that mess...but Im hoping someone here has had a similar problem?
    thanks!!

  • My 3rd generation iPod nano won't sync because "It cannot be found" even though it will automatically sync when I plug it in.

    Hey,
My dad and I both own a third generation iPod nano. ever since I updated our iTunes software, neither his nor my iPod will sync because "the correct disk cannot be found" or "ipod cannot be found" even though it will sync automatically when I plug it in. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?
    Thanks

    Try these steps listed below.
    1. Run “c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc” (i.e. *Device Manager*), and leave it open for now for later use
    2. Start up iTunes
    3. Next, connect your iPod.
    4. Go to your iPod Settings and select the “Enable disk use” option from under theSummary tab.
    5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you’ll need to manually eject. Go ahead and hit OK
    6. Hit Apply to save changes to the iPod
    7. Quickly switch to the Device Manager window and right-click on any item within the window and select “Scan for hardware changes”
    8. Finally, switch back to iTunes, and try re-syncing your iPod to see if it helped.
It might not also hurt to trash your iPod's Photo cache if it has one (i.e. you sync photos to the iPod).  See this article for information on where to find this folder on your Windows XP machine.

  • I FOUND THE FIX: iPhone Photo Copying Error - Required file cannot be found

This was driving me crazy for weeks.
The solution is quite easy. I noticed that I could import new photos and they would copy. But when I tried to do folders that were there for a while, I would get the error. So I assumed some database had to be corrupt since the photos were viewable in iPhoto. I tried exporting a library and reimporting it and those copied. So I KNEW it was a database issue.
iPhoto creates "iPhone/iPod" versions of any photo you copy to a device. Even when you remove it from the device, it still saves "the iPod" version in case you re-add it. So the solution is to delete all of these versions. I have provided easy instructions.
*Before doing this...make sure to write down which events/albums you keep on your iPhone because doing this will remove all of those selections. You will have to redo them afterwords. But unlike your current situation...it will WORK and actually sync. These directions will require you to delete all of the photos on your device, too (not your camera roll).*
    1. In iTunes UNCHECK "Sync Photos from iPhoto". When it asks you about deleting all of the photos...do it. Let it remove all of your photos.
    2. Eject your iPhone and exit iTunes. Also make sure you have exited iPhoto.
    3. Find the iPhone Library you are using. Right Click and choose "SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS".
    4. Find the "iPod Photo Cache" folder and delete it.
    5. Go back into iTunes and Re-enable "Sync Photos from iPhoto". Choose what you want to copy...and click sync.
    Viola.

For some reason iPhoto uses *"iPod Photo Cache"* for both devices including your *iPod or iPhone*.
So even if you have an iPhone...follow my directions. The apply to any device. iPhone, iPad, iPod...and its the same for all versions of iPhone and iPod, too.
Right click on your iPhoto library. It still labels it as "iPod Photo Cache" even though you have an iPhone or iPad. I don't know why. Ask our uncle Steve.

  • Just updated itunes, now "cannot be synced, the required file cannot be found." Help?

Just as the question stated. I recently updated itunes to the newest update. My ipod and the PC no longer like each other, it seems. I get the "cannot be synced, required file cannot be found" error. Help?

Ok, this error cleared up after unchecking all my photos. However, I have a large number of videos I want to add...and it only adds like 6 of them. (1) This is not a size issues as they've added in the past (2) The purple bar for the video component at the bottom only seems to include those videos it deems good enough to add, I guess. So even when the videos I want are checked, it ignores this. (3) The videos are properly named, in the correct format, and in the right folders (ie. not moved.) I don't  know what to do here! I just want to watch my videos on my ipod =(

  • "The iPhone cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found."

I have been having this problems since I got my iphone last year. Early on the phone would sync after 2-3 tries but as of the last 2-3 months I have been only able to sync it 2-3 times even after trying all the solutions presented by the troubleshooting and reading forum posts that seem to have a similar or near similar problem.
The first message I get after having the phone sync is
"The iPhone cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found."
After itunes attempts to sync again I get a different message that says
"The iPhone cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device."

I had the same problem and fixed it.
"The iPhone cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device."
I think it is caused by downloading too many apps, or large apps, and then when syncing over USB it doesn't recognise the iPhone and you get "The iPhone cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device."
    To fix this:
    1. Ensure iTunes is closed & iPhone is disconnected but keep USB cable connected to iPhone
    2. hold down CTRL + SHIFT on your keyboard
    3. connect USB cable to PC and wait. If iTunes doesn't start for a minute then start it (keeping hold of CTRL + SHIFT)
    4. if it wont let you start iTunes or all your icons are selected then release CTRL + SHIFT
    5. when iTunes starts it may ask you about safe mode or something similar, say yes
    6. Your iPhone should list as a device as normal, click sync.
It will then start the sync as normal and you may find it will transfer only one or two apps and you may get the dreaded error message again as I did. However, persist with the above steps and eventually it sync'd all my apps with no error message. Because I have only just done this I haven't downloaded any more apps so it might be a frequent thing but better than the error message.
