IPhone won't turn on.  Can't reset because I can't turn off Find My iPhone.  Tia!

I've been having problems with my phone lately; zero storage, even after deleting tons of apps, and photos.  Tonight it just wouldn't turn on.  I do have audio saying, "Siri not available.  Passcode is required..." but the screen is black.   Tried connecting to my Mac, but I need to either enter my passcode to backup, or shut off Find My iPhone to reset, obviously neither of which I can do.   Does anyone have any ideas?  tia!

Hi there jolss,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
From what I gather, your iPhone 5 is disabled and it’s showing a blank black screen. Try plugging your device in and letting it charge for at least 10 minutes or resetting it as suggested in this article:

If the iphone is disabled, how can I turn off "find my iphone" in order to reset it?

Go to any other device with internet access and log on to icloud.com using the Apple ID that is active on your device. Select "Find My iPhone > Devices" and select the option to erase the device.

  • How can I turn off find my iPhone to restore when it won't let me into my phone settings.

I went to use my phone last night and suddenly it says activation is required (which I'm not sure I understand alone) but I began to go through the steps and it says it can not activate because the beta has expired and I need to do a system restore. So I proceeded to do the system restore by plugging into iTunes and it tells me it  cannot do a restore unless I turn off find my iPhone but my phone will not allow me to look at any settings other than my wifi settings in its current state. How can I turn this off to proceed and what is going on with my phone in general?

Force it into recovery mode to restore it as explained here: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.  Sometimes you have to do this more than once to be successful.  After restoring, you'll have to restore an existing backup, if you have one.

  • IPhone won't turn on, can't restore because can't switch off find my iPhone

My iPhone won't switch on, past the apple symbol when pressing sleep/on and home button together. It will connect to iTunes but iTunes says it cannot restore without switching off find my iPhone. I tried deleting the app from the phone via iTunes but no success. Any ideas appreciated.

    Google "iphone dfu mode".
Follow the instructions and restore it.

  • Upgraded to ios 7, now password not working. Can't restore my ipad because I must turn off Find My iPhone, but I can't because I'm locked out. HELP!!

I recently updated my iPad mini to ios 7, which made me put a password for my lock screen. Now, it won't accept my password, and I'm unable to restore using iTunes because it says I must turn off Find My iPhone feature. However, I can't turn off this feature if I can't unlock my iPad. Please, someone tell me how to reset this or bypass the lock screen on an iPad. Thanks!

  • Forgot to turn off find my iphone and reset phone

Didn't turn off find my iphone and sold my 5c. They reset the phone and now can't log out of my icloud on the phone. Tried resetting and now says verification failed an SSL error has occurred and a secure connection to the server cannot be made. That comes up everytime I try to delete the icloud or log out, and now I tried to reset the phone again and comes up that message. I logged into icloud online and removed the phone from my icloud. Still nothing!!!

Try removing it at http://icloud.com on the computer.

  • HT1212 My phone is disabled.  I tried to restore it, but it says to turn off "Find My iPhone".  I can't turn it off because I cant' access the phone?

I am unable to restore my iphone, because it has become disabled.  When I go to restore, it says to turn off "Find My iPhone" app.  I can't, because it is disabled.  I deleted the app and it still says the same thing.  Any ideas?

The Find My iPhone app has nothing to do with this. Deleting the Find My iPhone app which is used to find another iOS device or Mac computer you own or for someone else to find their iPhone or iOS device with your iPhone does not turn off Find My iPhone with your iCloud account settings on your iPhone.

If you have Find My iPhone enabled, you can use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.

  • HT201252 How do I restore my iPhone when I can't turn off find my iPhone

My phone 6+ has completely frozen out.  It will turn on but there is a flicker at the top of the screen and no screen touching works.  So I can't get past the security screen.  No water damage, no magnet, not even dropped.  It just stopped working one day.
I've tried to restore factory settings via iTunes, but it says that I have to turn off 'find my iPhone' first, which involves turning on the phone to do so, which the phone won't let me do!
How do I restore my factory settings?

If it is powering up, and assuming it then connects to your wireless or wifi network, you can log into your iCloud account in a computer browser and remove it from your listed devices there.

iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone - Support - Apple
Sign in to icloud.com/#find with your Apple ID (the one you use with iCloud). If you’re using another iCloud app, click the app’s name at the top of the iCloud.com window, then click Find My iPhone.
Click All Devices, then select the device.
Click Erase device, then enter your Apple ID password. Because the device isn’t lost, don’t enter a phone number or message. If the device is offline, the remote erase begins the next time it’s online. You’ll receive an email when the device is erased.
When the device is erased, click Remove from Account. All your content is erased and someone else can now activate the device.

  • HT201365 I've forgotten my passcode and can't get into the phone to turn off "find my iphone" in order to restore it... Help Please

I've forgotten my passcode and can't get into the phone to turn off "find my iphone" in order to restore it... Can anyone help?

If you know the password to your apple id login - you can then do a restoration once you have put your device into recovery mode using itunes.
read this article to give you direction how to put your device into recovery mode.
Once you have put in your apple id login and password this then will allow you to restore the device once the device is placed in recovery mode.
    good luck!
