Iphone won't turn on (White apple logo)

Hey Everyone,
Recently my iPhone was being funny and Instagram was crashing whenever I tried to upload a picture so I decided to power it off with a assistive touch and turn it back on by plugging it in, which usually worked for me.
This time when I plug it in, it just stays on the apple logo and it has been doing that for the past 5 hours.
My power button is broken so my options are really limited. I do however have access to the inside of the phone because the back is removable.
Thanks for your help.

  • Iphone won't turn on past apple logo, can't restore. HELP

All of a sudden tonight, my iphone 4s restarted, but it only got to the apple logo screen, then restarted again.  It was doing that repeatedly every 10 seconds or so for the last few hours.  The only thing I could do was turn it off completely but only if it wasn't plugged in.  If I plugged it into a power source it kept restarting and I couldn't even turn it off.  But turning it off didn't do anything anyway because when I turned it on again it just continued doing the same restart cycle.  I tried a reset, which had no effect at all.  I tried to do a complete restore using itunes, several times.  It starts to restore but then I get a message "The iphone (iphone) could not be restored.  An unknown error occurred (9)."  I made sure itunes and OS X were up to date, restarted my computer, and tried again a few times with the same failed result.  And now the phone doesn't continually loop through the apple logo.  Instead, after the apple logo, it shows the connect-to-itunes screen (in order to do a restore, but like I said, that doesn't work) and stays on that screen for a minute until it turns off.  (But again, if I leave it plugged in, it doesn't stay off.  It keeps turning back on and it stays at the connect-to-itunes screen until I turn it off.)
So I don't know what options I have left.  As far as I can tell, I have a brick that lights up with an apple logo or itunes logo.
One thing that did happen earlier today that could be related: I tried to update my iphone (I believe I have 7.0.4 and it was updating to 7.0.6?) but something weird happened during the update (can't remember exactly) and I ended up having to restart my phone without it finishing the update.  It wouldn't let me update after that, which I didn't really care about, so I just left it with the ios version I had.  Then later in the evening this happened.
One other small thing to note (probably insignificant)-- When the phone kept going through the apple logo loop, right before the screen went black and it restarted, the apple logo would grow dim and there was sometimes a horizontal line across the screen, then it went to black.
If anybody has any ideas, please help!  It would be much appreciated.  I don't want to have to buy a new phone so soon.  Apple products are supposed to have a long life span!  And I've never jailbroken it or done anything out of the ordinary.

  • IPhone won't boot past white apple

I have quite a few (over 30) applications installed on my iphone. I deleted a bunch of useless ones on the phone yesterday, and then went into settings and noticed the phone seemed to be stalled (settings screen was blank for a long time). After awhile, I reset the phone by holding down the home button and the standby until the white apple appeared.
The problem is that the phone never got past the white apple. Even after waiting an extremely long time. And even after trying numerous hard resets. Furthermore, the phone does not show up in iTunes when connected to my mac, but iPhoto does launch automatically to pull in photos. But since I can't get the phone to show up in itunes, I can not even restore it.
I am running an original iPhone, with firmware 2.0 (havent upgraded to 2.0.1 yet).
does anyone know of a way to snap my phone out of this? Some special key combination that goes beyond the standard hard reset i have been trying? Is there some way to force it into a "recovery mode" or something like that?

I have a first-gen iPhone that worked near flawlessly for a year, until I upgraded the iPhone to 2.0. Ever since, I have been dismayed with Apple's lack of progress fixing my issue. My phone has quite a few apps as well. I also fear using them, because occasionally (about twice per week for way too many weeks) it will break down and not get past the white Apple logo. It always requires a restore in DFU mode to get it working again. All of my apps work until the kill switch is turned. It happens at random intervals and with no particular app. It is not a hardware problem. I have met the same results with another guaranteed-working iPhone. I have restored w/ and w/o backups- no luck.
Can anyone recommend a way to work around this problem? This is my phone and I can't have to do this so often.
    Thanks.
P.S. It's worth noting that I get about 400 errors on every sync. The 3 that are repeated every few seconds are the following (copied from the console):
8/16/08 6:55:18 PM [0x0-0x1e61e6].com.apple.iTunes[3712] MobileDevice: AMDeviceStopSession: Could not stop session with device: kAMDSuccess

  • IPod won't get past white Apple logo

I have a 4th gen. 8GB iPod Nano. For the life of me I can't coax it past the white Apple startup logo.
Done the hold switch and reset. Back to white Apple logo.
Reset and then enabled Disk Mode. Good sign. Connected to iTunes. RECOGNIZED! Added songs to it. Ejected it (still in Disk Mode). Did a restart with the same Apple logo.
Did the above but restored it after being recognized by iTunes and before adding songs. Still can't get past the white Apple logo.
Even used Disk Utility and reformatted it and then booted to disk mode and connected to iTunes. Same white Apple logo. It's pretty and all, but I want the darn thing to boot!
Any (and I mean any!) ideas would be appreciated.

ok. there is some progress. it is the most given advice when you search the internet for this issue. i was so frustrated and left the nano in my drawer for a whole week. then i wanted to give it a last try so i connected the nano to the pc and it booted to the menu where you can choose the language. the nano was also recognized by my mac and i thought it would work again. so i let it charge a bit an than my nano crashed again to the same problem. now it won't boot again. so my guess would be there's a probelm with the battery or something?

  • My iPhone won't come off the Apple logo when turning on.

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this post.
I accidentally left my iPhone 4 outside on the table for a week or so and upon charging the iPhone came on as usual and worked as usual, apart from I had to hold the off button and the home button at the same time for it to turn on but this worked first time however. When the iPhone then died and I charged it again the apple logo appears for a while, then disappears and then re-appears. I've tried holding the home button and the off button at the same time but that doesn't seem to do anything but make the iPhone show the Apple logo again.
I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to fix this iPhone as I need it dearly or would I need to get a new one completely.
    Thank you.

    Did it get liquid damaged?
Look inside the headphone port, you will either be able to see a red or a white dot at the end of it.
If it is white, then you should be ok from liquid damage.
Next thing to do is to plug phone into iTunes, then to hold home and power button for 10 seconds, then let go of power but keep hold of home. iTunes should say it has discovered an iPhone in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Restore it and see if that does it. If it doesn't, then yeh, its dead

  • Iphone won't turn on past apple sign...

I turned my iphone 3g off about 3 hours ago as during a phone call I got cut off and it said 'no service'
When I tried to turn it on again, the apple sign would just appear but just stay like that, it won't turn on!!
From time to time it will flash a white screen but then go back to the apple sign.
I can't sync it to itunes either to do a restore as it won't recognise it when I plug it into the usb.
Any ideas on what I can do, or do I just have to get a replacement?
    Thanks in advance!!

Try to reset the phone first.
Hold the home button and the sleep/wake button down until the phone powers off.
If this doesn't work, follow this KB to force restore.

  • IPod won't turn on. Apple logo flashes, charged for 6+ hours

My iPod touch won't turn on at all. When I plug the charger into a wall, the apple logo just flashes on and off. When I hold the home and power button for a reset, a picture with the itunes symbol and charger comes up and thats it, it doesn't go past that and if I release the two buttons, it just goes back to flashing the logo. When I connect to the computer, it won't even charge and my computer won't detect the iPod. It's def not a dead battery considering so many people are having this issue. How do I fix it?

See what you missed here. It is not looking promising.

  • IPhone will not turn on past Apple logo...help

I recently restored my iPhone 3G and it died during the restore to factory settings. I let it charge overnight and then tried to power it on and it comes to the Apple logo on the screen for 10 seconds and then just shuts off again. I tried to connected to computer and still the same outcome. The computer does not even know its there. iTunes and everything else works fine because i hooked my 3GS up and it knows its there. What do i do next, take it to apple? Please help

Try to force it into recovery mode. Disconnect it from the USB cord. Press and hold the home button while plugging in the computer's USB cord. Continue holding the Home button while iPhone starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo. When you see "Connect to iTunes" on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Then you can restore your phone: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

  • IPhone stuck - won't move beyond the Apple logo

I just downloaded the latest iPhone update and while it was syncing with my phone, it froze, then I got a message from iTunes saying it couldn't connect to my iPhone. I disconnected and reconnected, and it has said it's synced, but my iPhone won't start now. It turns on, but never moves beyond the Apple logo. Underneath the apple, there's a white bar, as if something is trying to update or download, but nothing ever happens. It just stays stuck there. To restart it, I have to press both the power and home button. I've tried restarting about 5 times, and it does the same each time. I've tried syncing with iTunes again, and still nothing happens.
Has this happened to anybody else before? If so, how did you resolve it?

FIXED! OK guys, this is what I did.
I just took it to the Apple store and they fixed it for me.
I know you were all waiting for a solution that you could do yourself but there wasn't one that I could figure out.
    My problem once again:
iTouch 1st Gen with first OS.
    Upgraded OS to 3.1.2
Then got hung up on white apple logo with white bar beneath it.
When I took it to the Apple store, they said that the downloaded OS might have been corrupt or not downloaded properly/completely.
So they re-installed the OS for me. Then I was able to go home and sync it with my iTunes without losing anything!
They got some computers and software at the Apple store that I don't think you can get anywhere. Diagnostics stuff. That's why it's better to just let them fix it. They didn't charge me anything for it either.
    Hope this helps!

  • I have an iphone 4 . A new screen has been fitted front and back. It suffered a bit of a bang. Now when the phone is turned on the apple logo appears but nothing more  . Could there be a problem elsewhere ? Other than smashed screen? Any ideas welcome

I have an iphone 4 . It's had a new front and back screen fitted after a bit of a bang . Now when turned on the apple logo appears on the screen and then goes off. Then appears again etc etc etc .
It won't go any further . Any ideas as to what else may be an issue or has anyone else had the same problem and what was the outcome . If I back up to iTunes will I be able to back up my information without any activity showing on the screen !! I'm lost without all my information . I haven't backed up to iCloud for at least 5 months. Can anyone help me PLEASE?????

Sorry. We can't help you. It's no longer an iPhone. Apple won't touch it.
Take it to whoever replaced the screen and see if they can help you.
iPhones are not user servicable and Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all. I'd be surprised if you were actually able to back it up at this point. It sounds like it's completely borked.

  • Black screen with white apple logo won't go away! Help please.

Last night I turned theipod completeley off and restarted it. The black screen with the white apple logo came on and hasn't went of since.
I've tried everything I could find in the forums and on the support page.

I don't know what more to do, ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
