Iphone wont power on unless on charge and itunes cannot restore iphone,, what can i do?

I recently bought an iphone off Ebay, the seller said it was broken and described the problems too me, the phone in my view is fixable. The main problem i have is that the phone wont power on unless it is plugged in on charge. This is where it leads onto my next problem. there are a lot of ways people are describing to restore the phone if it doesnt work. (Hold down power and home, let go of power then it goes into a certain mode which it will let it restore then connect to itunes.) My problem is that to do this i have to be connected to itunes to get it to this stage.
the battery isnt the problem I have been told as the previous owner said they had replaced the battery already to see if that was the problem but it clealy wasnt.
If anyone can help me to restore this phone or tell me if I need to just take it to a repare shop. If there is a simple way of doing it myself and saving about £100 I would love to hear it!!!

I downloaded ios 6 on iphone 4s,
How exactly were you able to do that? Since the only signed software, for your phone, is iOS 7.0.3, that's the only version of iOS you could install on your phone.

  • IPad1 stuck in recovery mode with and ITunes cannot restore with an error code of 11?

I tried to update to IOS 4.3.4 today but now my iPad1 stuck in recovery mode with and ITunes cannot restore with an error code of 11?
(With the old discussion groups it was easy to see where other people had similar problems, these new groups seems clunky in comparison)

OK, fixed it by using SHIFT+RESTORE to load the iPad1,1_4.3.4_8K2_Restore.ipsw  file in directly from the
    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPad Software Updates
    folder.
No idea why the upgrade to 4.3.3 failed in the first place and no idea why iTunes was not clever enough to just do it by itself when it detected that there was a problem in the first place.

  • My ipod touch stuck in recovery mode and itunes doesnt reconize ipod what can i  do?

my ipod stuck in recovery mode itunes dont reconize or show device and i dont have access to orginal computer what can i do to solve this problem

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Itunes no longer shows stars (ratings) and these cannot be input, what can I do?

Hi. Suddenly, the rating star-system in my Mac is not working properly. Stars disappeared from the rating column and I cannot input a new rating in that column. The only way to input a new rating is by clicking with right button on mouse and going to ratings and choosing (say 4 stars) but, although it changes the rating, it will not show in the rating column. If right click (and then go to the rating option) a song that had been rated shows the  rating but, again, it will not show in the rating column.
The old ratings are, somehow, still working because the smartplaylists that depend on ratings have the songs. The ratings in these playlists, however, are not shown in the ratings column.
I will appreciate any ideas on how to fix this.

I hvae the same problem. I have posted about the problems, but I have not received any responses yet. So now I am posting in similar already started discussions. I updated from iTunes 10.2.1 to 10.7. After the update, and the restart of my MacBook Pro the stars dissapeared. The column is still there, but the entire starts in the rating is gone. The only way to rate is to right click and choose the rating and you can see the rating. I have a high contrast on my iTunes but I tried to turn it off, but the stars in the rating column is still not showing.

  • HT201210 my apple iphone wont get out of recuvery mode and when i restore it, it gives me an error message saying cant restore. i need help.

i cant restore my apple iphone and it is stuck in recuvery mode and i dont know what to do

If you can't restore it in recovery mode then you'll have to try DFU mode to restore it (see

With my  Iphone 4 and 4s it could support data transfer. All i needed wasto remove the bottom of the case a use a Iphone5 usb cable. Thank you for all the help.

  • Itunes cannot restore iphone

My iphone dropped out of my pocket onto a carpeted wood deck floor while sitting in a lawn chair (approximately 15-18 inches). When I went to use it next, it wouldn't turn on. I tried a reset (home button and power button) and got a message to plug it into itunes for a restore.
I've tried restoring it probably 25 times. I've made sure all software is up to date on my computer. I've restarted my computer about 10 times. When I try to restore, it goes through all the motions and looks like it's going to work, but ultimately I get an error message (I've had several different errors: 21, 2006, 2001) from itunes that says it could not restore it. The only thing that shows up on my iphone screen is a graphic of a USB cord connecting to itunes.
I've tried all the suggestions from the error message information pages. I feel like there is just something small that I'm missing that would make this iphone work again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ~Kelly

It's tough to determine exactly what the drop did to your device. Numerous restore errors combined with the fact that 25+ restore attempts have failed indicate that your device is not going to be easily saved. Duke of Tiers instructions are identical to what's in the article posted by roaminggonme - same goes for Yian Tyan's advice.
Could always try a different user on the computer or restoring on a different computer all together. But aside from different USB ports, disabling security software, and putting the device into recovery mode I really can't think of anything that can fix your device.

  • IPad and iTunes cannot check for iOS updates. And iTunes cannot restore the iPad to 6.1.2.

    Hi.
I have iPad 4G 32GB A1460. NO JAILBREAK EVER. Recently I installed iOS 7 Beta 3 on it. And now when I go to Settings -> General -> Software Update I get the error message "Unable to Check for Update. An error occurred while checking for a software update." And that's all. No useful information actually.
I have tried to reboot the device but no luck. I have also tried to connect it to a PC and check for updates from iTunes. iTunes shows me a little different error message: "iTunes could not check for an update to the carrier settings for your iPad. An unknown error occurred (1651). Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later." I checked the connection just in case and was convinced that the Internet connection is active. Does anyone know what's happening? I really don't like this.
OK, maybe the next iOS version isn't out yet. But what will happen if it is? Will I be forced to use 7.0 Beta 3 forever? I don't want to))
Another thing that I've tried to do is to restore my iPad to iOS 6.1.2. But the iTunes shows another error: "The iPad "<iPad name>" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3194)." I tried this on Windows and Mac. On Mac I have a different message: "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" which seems to be the same thing as 3194-error on Windows.
Can anyone help me? Is there a reasonable explanation of this? Is this related to Apple's developers web site unavailability (http://devimages.apple.com/maintenance/)?
    Thanks in advance!

  • HT4623 iphone wont power up 4gs

    iphone wont power up

I had a similar problem with my IPhone4. I plugged it in to charge and it turned itself off and would not restart.
I took it to a genius bar but they couldn't get it to restart and were going to charge me for an exchange as it was out of warranty.
I tried on and off, lots and lots of times to reset it and after 4 days it suddenly restarted but with a very low battery warning. I then charged it up and managed to get it working again, although it shut itself down a few more times over the next couple of days it and I had to reset it. The last time was very strange - I was listening to music when the phone suddenly started to vibrate for several seconds as if it was receiving an incoming call and locked up. I had to do another forced reset to get it to stop vibrating.
Since then the phone has been working completely normally.
This was over three weeks ago.
I think it was a software issue and something to do with ICloud.
    Hope this helps
