IPhone3GS wireless components or such doesn't work?

I recently got my iPhone3GS back after being in repair for severe water damage. Upon initial inspection all seemd to be fixed until i tried to connect to a wifi source. The screen which typiclly shows wifi options (turn on/off, different networks, etc) now shows the screen when wifi is off (one bar on the screen with the option to turn on wifi). The problem is that i cant click on the off/on slide. It seems to ne blocked, grayed out, like an option that can't be done. I tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings, restoring it, and booting from new phone. Nothing works. I'm guessing it has something to do with the wireless adaptor inside the phone or something of that nature. Anyone know what to do? what can i do to fix it? thanks.

Send it back to the repair shop you used.

  • Wireless keyboard with Marvicks doesn't work properly

It's not easy to post this article due it's Marvicks (?) / Apple wireless keyboard problem.
Once I'm at home, I use my MBP like a desktop by connecting with Apple wireless keyboard/mouse. Works Great!
Since a while, I updated to Marvicks with great experience, but my wireless keyboard doesn't react on some uppercase keys. So, what I can do is: switch to caps-lock then type the missing key or type on MBP keyboard to get "T".
Look to here and you will find which uppercase letter doesn't work:
(use only with right-shift combination) aAbcCdDeEfFghHiIjJkKlLmMnNoOpPqQrRsStuUvVwWxXyYzZ.
(use only with left-shift combination) aAbBcCdDeEfFgGhHiIjJkKlLmMnNoOpPqQrRsStuUvVwWxXyYzZ.
    Don't work letters/function:
    (right-shift combination) B, G, T
    (left-shift combination)   T
    "fn+delete"
Further, I have "Pinyin - Simplified" language installed. During Chinese input, I need switch to normal alphabet by activate "caps lock". This is an Easy and fast way to toggle between Chinese - English input. (much convinient than Language switch via mouse clicks).
My older OS (Leopard, S.L, Lion) works well, but Marvicks interpret differently. Once "caps lock" and I navigate with cursor keys, sometime it convert my typing into e.g.: "\[34334" (this is not the exactly right sample, due I can't simulate this at this moment), something like that. It looks like the "Escape sequences"
This is frustrating when I write my document without looking to the display regularly.
    Please help with thanks!

Why don't you use the MBP's internal keyboard?  Does it also not work right?
Have you tried another external keyboard?  If not, you should do that.  If it works OK,  then you need to replace the one causing all this trouble.

  • Wireless problem - WEP password doesn't work - connection timed out

The problems with leopard connecting to wireless networks is documented all over the forums
But anyway, below is a solution from fred (Genius!!) it comes from
    http://forums.macrumors.com/archive/index.php/t-375266.html
You have to do this through SAFARI (then for me camino worked perfectly as well)
    1. When you awaken Leopard you get the "None of your preferred networks are available" message.
    Cancel it.
    2. Ask Safari to open any page. It will, of course, hang with the message "You are not connected to the Internet."
Click on the "Network Diagnostics..." button in the message box.
    3. You should get a dialog box titled "Network Diagnostics". The list of "locations" should have the name of your usual network setup highlighted in gray. All the network status signals down the left side will be red.
Click on the "Continue" button in the dialog box.
    4. You should see a fresh Network Diagnostics box subtitled "Choose network port configuration"
Click on the AirPort radio button.
    Then click on continue.
    5. The Network Diagnostics box should be refreshed. You should now see "Select AirPort network" as a subtitle, and one or more wireless network names listed.
Click on your wireless network name (the one your AirPort knows).
    Click the Continue button.
    6. Type your password in the Password box in the next refresh. (No need for a $. Just your password.) (Don't bother checking the Remember password... box. It seems non-functional.)
    7. Click the Continue button.
    8. The Network Fairy awakens, makes all the status signals on the left green, turns on your wireless signal strength icon in the top bar, loads your Safari page, and leaves you with the message: "Your Internet connection appears to be working correctly."
    9. Beats me why the "other" WEP password entry process consistently fails.

I must have missed something the first time around with the G3....
I changed the encryption to WPA/WPA2 Personal and all my Expresses AND my G3 iBooks all connect just fine. I still can't get my iPaq 2495b to connect however... It "sees" the router, but just wont connect. As I mentioned before, it does connect if unencrypted with no password, so the problem obviously lies with the password.
The iPaq Authentication choices are: Open,Shared, WPA, and WPA-PSK. There is a second box for Data Encryption with choices of: WEP or TKIP.
I have tried every combination, all to no avail. I have NOT tried stuff like inserting "$" signs, etc.
    Any ideas?

  • 2 wireless networks, suddenly one doesn't work!

I have an odd problem that cropped up yesterday (Tues).
I have a wireless network at home using a D-Link 624, an iMac G5, and a Powerbook G4 (aluminum). Works great!!!!
At school/work (I'm a teacher), we have a wireless network in my classroom, where I can just change my "location" on the Powerbook and it automatically connects to the school network. I've been doing this since August 2005. I use DHCP at both locations to assign an IP address.
Here's the problem: Monday at school, no problem with network. Monday night, I switched locations to "HOME". No problem. TUES morning at school, I switched back to "SCHOOL" location, and got "not connected" messages. When I looked at the TCP/IP settings, it showed me an IP address of 169.254.205.150, INSTEAD OF the 10.159.177.xx I should have had. The subnet was also wrong, and the router didn't show up at all.
I pulled out one of the laptops assigned to my classroom and checked/compared the setup, and saw where mine was coming up wrong (see above), but even choosing DHCP MANUAL and inputting proper settings didn't help.
I had the school technician examine my laptop configuration, and he couldn't figure it out. It's obviously NOT the router at school because the other laptops are connecting just fine, only MY personal laptop suddenly won't. The tech suggested maybe there's a problem with the built-in Airport card, but when I went home and changed the setting to "HOME" it worked perfectly.
Today (Weds) back at school, same problem... I've had to resort to using an Ethernet setting and cable (so much for roaming with my PB!)
What else can I possibly check that will solve this problem??? The only thing I can think of, I MAY have had a software update (regarding Java?) Monday evening at home.... other than that, I'm STUMPED!!!!!
Please HELP!! There's a reason I need WIRELESS, I don't have enough ports at my desk to support my use of Ethernet on the laptop.

  • IPad will not send mail, but iPhone works. Outgoing servers are set up the same. I tried shutting off iPhone to not confuse the wireless network. Still doesn't work.

Can't send mail from iPad but IPhone is sending. Outgoing servers are set up exactly the same. I closed both safari and mail on the iPhone to try and avoid conflicts with iPad. I also shut down and restarted iPad. Still won't send.

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

  • My Canon MX 922 does not scan. My printer is connected via cable. Wireless doesn't work either.

My Canon MX 922 does not scan. My printer is connected via cable. Wireless doesn't work either.  I get an error message with multiple suggestions but none of them apply to my situation.
I am so dissatisfied with this printer.  I'm sorry I got it from Amazon because now it is a hassle to return it.  I will never buy another Canon.
The printer menus are confusing.  I hate using it.  I loved my previous Canon which finally stopped working after many years, that's why I purchased a newer Canon model.  Never again.  Stick with cameras.
    Marcy Hotz

This note won't be as angry and frustrated as the last one...
Because I still had my old printer drivers and other applications on my hard drive, I think the application was trying to connect with the old printer.  I deleted all the old stuff.
I also had several scanning applications on my drive which just confused me.
When I used the actual Canon MX922 application, I was able to scan but could only save as JPG, TIF or BMP (and one more, I forget which).  So I did some research on the Canon site and found out how to save documents as PDF files using the Canon IJ Scan Utility.
It works now.  So I'm satisfied, will keep this maching.  I just had to take some time, sit down and focus on the problem.

  • My new iMac has recently had OSX Lion installed on it and now when I start the machine it looks like its updating something every time, and the wireless doesn't work. So I restart and everything is OK - until I have to start up again the next time?

My new iMac has recently had OSX Lion installed on it and now when I start the machine it looks like its updating something every time, and the wireless doesn't work. So I restart and everything is OK - until I have to start up again the next time - then I have to repeat this again! Any help appreciated.

I've been having the same issue, but have just discovered something on my own that hasn't been pointed out in any of the forums I've visited.  In what I thought would be a vain attempt to help myself, I went to System Preferences, Users & Groups, and then clicked on Login Items.  I discovered that one of the Items that was listed to open automatically upon login was iTunes Helper and that there was an exclamation point beside it indicating that it was incompatible.  I simply deleted that item and now I don't have the situation you described and my wireless is connected.  Hope this helps!

  • My mac has10.5.8 and should be compatible with new HP officejet pro 8600.  I can't get it to install for wireless, nor to work with USB cable.  Have tried downloading HP install directly from HP and it still doesn't work.

I just bought a new HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 printer.  I have been unable to download the installation for wireless connection even though have had the assistance of Costco tech, HP tech and some advice from Apple.  Because the system is MacOs 10.5.8 the error says it is incompatible, even though the product lists compatiblilty with 10.5, 10.6.   I was advised 1 option might be to obtain Snow Leopard for installation, however am somewhat reluctant as the bo states 10.5 should work and Snow Leopard is 10.6, which is also listed as compatible.  I am unable to get the printer to work even with USB cable.  Too much time spent on this and I hate to start over with another printer because I'm afraid I might have the same trouble.  Is Snow Leopard something I should get anyway?  Help!

Snow Leopard has more compatible Java.

  • HP P1102w Wireless Function Doesn't Work!

    - I am tech savvy
    - used search, google, etc.
    - Mac OS X 10.8.3
    - HP P1102w, driver 5.0
    1. installed "HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver"
    2. watched http://youtu.be/c972ybZvZzo
    3. after inputting my wireless information (SSID, password), I am redirected to a blank page with this url: http://localhost:5050/cgi-bin/ip_wireless_result.htm
The USB works, but the wireless feature doesn't work at all. Why does life have to be so hard? This is extremely frustrating.

I know that sometimes just pressing the wireless button one time can disable the wireless feature unless you are certain your wireless feature is completely broken.  I suggest holding down the cancel button for five to ten seconds until the configuration page prints out and it will provide you with some information in the network section (for example: Wireless DISABLED) if it is not working.
Also, here is a link to the firmware update for this printer designed for your Mac -  Version: 20130213.  I know this printer can be confusing so here is a link with the User Guide for this model.
I would print that configuration page and try to update the firmware and see if that fixes this for you. Let me know if it works.  If not, do you see anything in the network section of that page that prints out that says it has been disabled?
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • Wireless scanning of Canon Pixma MX 725 doesn't work in 10.9.1

    Hello,
the built-in wireless scanning feature of Canon Pixma MX 725 doesn't work in 10.9.1.
    With USB-Connection everything is fine.
Latest Apple Drivers are installed (Canon IJScanner5 version 2.3.1). I've also tried the new verison IJScanner5 3.1.
With the Canon Software "Canon IJ Scan Utility" wireless scanning is possible.
In OS X 10.7 the built-in wireless scanning is possible.
    Any Ideas?

I haven't been able to re-create your fault on my test Mac's, but then both are clean installs of 10.9.1.
Do you get this communication error as soon as you select the MX in the Shared section of Image Capture? Or do you get the Image Capture pane appearing and an overview of the document will start, but then during the scan you get a communication error?
One thing I have noticed in testing this symptom is that neither of my 10.9.1 Mac's have the CIJ Scanner Register process running. I know this process was present at some point after Mavericks was released because I can remember users complaining about it, especially when they did not have a Canon All-In-On. When you mentioned about trashing the process I checked my Mac's and could not find the process. So on the clean install in Parallels, can you check if this process is running.

  • Wireless Music doesn't work with new software

    Hello-
I can't get my wireless music to work after I update the software to the latest version. The only one that will work is when I install it from the CD. But, I would like to use the most recent version of the software. As soon as I update, the Media Server won't launch on my computer. I am using a linksys WRT54G wireless router. If I check DHCP clients, the wireless music receiver is successfully getting an IP address. I have tried all of the things that linksys suggested (disable WEP, firewall, broadcast SSID, etc...) to no avail. Has anyone gotten the latest media server software to work with WRT54G? I have tried it on both my XP and W2K machine, with the same results (doesn't work).
    Thanks,
    Rich

    <SPAN>Hi Jeremy
<SPAN>I have the similar problem, I've installed the software on my desktop, no error messages (apart from the certificate) and everything seems to be fine. After about 2 minutes the message appears that the network is not ready and consequently the media server is not running.
<SPAN>Without the server running I can't setup the Network and the entire system is not working. I could ping it but that was about it.
<SPAN>I've reset my router, renamed the SSID, tried with and without WEP, MAC, without firewall, opened a new account on my desktop with admin rights installed the software again into a new folder - result still not working, same error message.
<SPAN>To make really bad, I installed it on my laptop, same procedure and it works fine! So it seem that it has nothing to do with my wireless devices or configurations, there must be a problem while setting up the software on my desktop.
<SPAN>I really would appreciate your help a lot!

  • Wireless adapter Z-Com XG-703A doesn't work with WPA after reboot

    Hello everybody,
Arch doesn't load kernel module arc4 during boot with usb wireless adapter Z-Com XG-703A. So WPA doesn't work and It can connect to only opened access points.
I found two work arounds but I don't know how to fix the issue completely.
    1. Remove usb adapter and plug it in again (it causes arc4 module to load), then restart networking.
    2. rmmod p54usb, rmmod p54common, modprobe arc4, modprobe p54usb and after that restart networking.
Could anybody help to fix the problem generally?

Does the p54common get loaded again as well when you do modprobep54usb?
If not, you might just put that into modprobe.conf blacklist.
If it does get loaded as well, there might be another wireless module getting loaded that perhaps does cause problems. You can check that with
    mkinitcpio -v
now, or with lsmod after a reboot before your workaround.
