Iphone4 dropped in water 1611 error

Well, This is what ive done so far. This is my wifes phone and I was out of town so I coulndt get to it right away,so I had a poly..whatever screwdriver overnighted to her. She took the back cover off and let it sit in a closed bowl of rice for four days till i got home. Ive been told sometimes this is all that is needed,so i blew out the phone will high pressure air and put it back together and it worked. everthing seemed ok till I fent the phone getting warm. I shut it off to take it further apart and inspect for damage. cleaned the logic board with mythanol alcholol and let dry till a new battery arrived. Put it back together and worked, but still got warm. Thought battery was charging, but was not and I allowed the battery to die, When phone is plugged i to wall I get the Plug in to Itunes screen. Plugged it in and nothing. I forced it into recovery mode, and now itunes tries to restore but get the 1611 error, Now my wife fesses up and told me she plugged the phone into the wall charger the day after she dropped it in the water??Assuming there was more damage, I ordered a charge/dock connecter being I saw some rust on the pins. New connector in and still same problem, Now here is the question. Does anyone think I could have fried the new battery? Or am I looking at buying a new logic board?

This morning the phone was dead, with the recovery screen back. So now I have a phone that will not charge. The battery gauge was full when I unplugged it from the wall last night, with several minutes of use I saw the battery dropped to 96%, phone was slightly warm.  So anyone think there may be some additional corrosion somewhere and draining the battery so fast?

  • 1611 error message and Apple refusing to fix

    Hello all,
I started to have a few random problems with my iPod touch less than 3 weeks after getting it. I always took very good care it (I got the 16gb and it cost WAY to much NOT to take good care of it). Well, after trying to fix it, it completely crapped out on me. iTunes wanted to restore it, and none of my info was showing up anymore. So I tried to restore it, and I got a 1611 error message. I tried everything on Apple's website to try to fix it to no avail.
So, I called them up. They sent out a box for me to put it in, send it to them, and they would fix it. I got my box back a few days later absolutely thrilled. Unfortunately when I opened up the box, I found a piece of paper inside with this on it:
--A diagnostic evaluation has determined the iPod has internal damage related to a liquid spill or contamination.
Are you kidding me! My iPod has NEVER been exposed to water. I never exercised with it, because I hadn't bought a waterproof case yet. The only thing I did with it was play music and podcasts, play applications on it, and use it in my car on the drive to and from work, but it was NEVER EVER exposed to water. I paid almost $400 for this thing that didn't last 3 weeks. My husband and I are buying a desktop (my laptop is 4 years old and needs replacing) early next year and I was wanting the iMac. But my husband has never liked how expensive Apple products are, and this just pushes him over the edge. Thanks for the GREAT service Apple.

Most small bits of consumer electronics have a Liquid Damage Indicator. In the case of the Touch, I believe it's at the bottom of the headset jack and very hard to see. The LDI can be triggered not just by liquid but also by moisture (you'd be surprised how many people think it's okay to charge their cell phones in the bathroom.)High levels of moisture or humidity can also damage a Touch. Once there has been any exposure to liquid or moisture, it's difficult to proof what originally caused the problem.
The only suggestion I can offer is that you take the Touch to an Apple Store if there is one at all near you. You may have better luck pleading your case to an actual person.
    Best of luck.

  • Problems after phones dropped in water.

lately my phones dropped in water for 30 mins long, after i noticed i immediately bring that to service center for repair but after repair my phones not working properly like before.the problem is bluetooth an error comes "Unable to perform Bluetooth operation" then wifi error "System error" i also cant restore the back-up and application settings from my MMC.
what can i do now?is there any way that i can fix my phone specially my MMC for back-up?
    Nokia E52 here.
    NOKIA E52-1
    034.001

Then you will slowly encounter more and more problems with your phone as the electronics corrode. The issue with the memory card is probably due to card reader or mainboard. The service centre will have to check to see which it is and replace as necessary.
Another option would be to try to restore the backup using Ovi Suite. You will need to transfer the backup from the memory card to your pc first and try it from there. This way you bypass the card reader.

  • I receive calls but can't place a call. I send and receive messages and mails. I drop some water on top of the phone.

But when I want to place a call i automatically receive error message.
I change my chip to other phone and worked perfect.
I try using a different sim on iPhone and has the same problem, just can't make a call.

Apparently, your definition of "works perfect" is radically different from mine...

  • IPhone4s won't sync. Error message says I do not have privileges to make changes.

My iPhone4s won't sync. Error message says I do not have privileges to make changes.
Why not?! It synced fine yesterday and I have made no changes. How do I get it to stop giving me the error message and sync?
I have tried shutting everything down. I have tried everything I can think of short of wiping the phone by hitting "Restore" and I really do not want to do that.

    Thank you.
I actually figured it out a while ago.
Turns out it is not an issue with the iPhone or iTunes.
By process of elimination I deduced it could be a permissions issue with the hard drive and/or folder that holds the contents of my Music Library.
For example, if the "Sharing & Permissions" settings (found in the "Get Info" Window) are set to "Read Only" on the internal or external drive that contains your Music Library for iTunes then you can not write to the disk. Therefore, you do not have privelges to make changes to the internal or external drive and you get the error message when you try to sync with the information on that drive.
Here's the kicker and million dollar questions:
How did the "Sharing & Permissions" settings get changed on my Hard Drive without me doing it?
Why did my iPhone sync fine yesterday and suddenly today the Hard Drive is doing this?
I have to set all priveleges to all drives to "Read & Write" and that just doesn't seem very secure to me.

  • My PowerShot SX170 was dropped in water

I have a PowerShot SX170 IS. It was dropped in water for 4-5 seconds, but it didn't go all the way under and the lens was above water. It was off, and I immediatly took it out, took the battery and sd card out. I put it in a bowl or rice for 28-30 hours. I recently took it out and put the battery (fully charged) back in and turned it on, but it wouldn't work. Is there anything at all I can do to save it?

It really does depend what water he dropped it in!
Sea is salty, salt  conducts electricity, my thinking here if it got onto the circuit board or any electrical contact it could cause a leak, a resistive leak - not a water leak.  Maybe a few 100K ohms or less, this would be enough to upset the apple cart and cause digital circuits to 'latch up'.
Salty water can eat away the protective  lacquer on the circuit boards then eat away the fine copper tracks, it would cause severe contamination to them.
Also water can ingress by capillery action.
Apart from what has been suggested to letting it dry out the only option would be to send it in for repair, then there's the question is it worth it.

  • Download request is dropped due to internal error.

    Safari Version 6.0.5 (7536.30.1)
    iMac 27 Zoll, Mitte 2011
    Plug-In-Version 11.7.700.225 ist installiert.
Try for about 4 weeks to install the update to version 11.8.800.94. Always get the same message from Safari : 62.159.74.72:80->192.168.2.42:60501 Download request is dropped due to internal error.
I don´t know what else to do to make this work..??? Even tried to download the offline version which i found after a week of research- get the same message trying to download the file..

I don't know what is preventing you from downloading that installer.
Can you try to download the latest archive from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html, then extract the installer from there?

  • !!HELP!! Iphone4 battery problem, water damaged.

My phone is showing (for example) 27% battery, then turning off, then turning its self back on, then showing 2%,then turning off, then showing 56%,then staying on for a few hours and not going down at all no matter how much it is used.when charging the percent does not increase even after 6 hours on charge then will start going up and down when it turns itself off/on. The phone was dropped in water but was left to dry out and was fine initially. It also says "no sim" sometimes. Is this a battery problem or a problem with the actual phone? everything else on the phone works great, no lcd damage, no mic/speaker/camera problems. It is very strange. Any ideas? Also, the apple service charge of £126, does this cover more than one problem? As the glass on my screen is also smashed, would this be £252 to get both issues fixed?
Thank you for any info you may have,
    Alan.

The Out of Warranty fee is not to "fix" issues, it is for a replacement device.

    Hello Subin,
Have you tried a telnet to port 25 of the sending domain from the Hub transport/edge (if edge is presented)? This is required a success send. If this is not an issue, try Unchecking of "Enable Domain Security" at the properties
of the send connector and do a test

  • LG Ally and One Drop of Water

My wife was using her new LG Ally phone (4 days old). She apparently had a drop of water on her finger and when she switched open the keyboard the phone went dead. We tried charging it and it came on but only had 4% charge.
We took it to a store and they said it had water damage. We thought that was crazy but after looking at the phone we realized that when you open the keypad your fingers are right over the connection of the battery to the phone. So one drop of water is all it took (crazy but true).
We let the phone sit for a day and a half while we contacted support. They basically said we were screwed (in a polite way) and that we would have to buy a new phone at full price. They did, however, tell us a canned story about dropping it in the toilet and putting it in rice to dry it out. That made me think I should try charging it again. And this time (a day and a half later) it seems to be charging normally. We didn't put it in rice (but we are talking about a drop of water) but I'll probably do that as well just to be on the safe side. Support also asked if we had the phone in the bathroom while taking a shower which makes me think that this phone (all smart phones?) is very sensitive to moisture in the air.
When we got the phone I looked into getting a cover for it. I found some plastic back covers but I didn't understand why you would want that. But after this I'm thinking that it is needed to keep water away from the battery.
Just FYI. I'd never try to use this phone on a rainy day.

Is it working OK now? Did your indicators turn pink? By the battery, where it should be red X's, it turns pink when it gets wet. If that happens, Verizon will not replace it under the manufacturer's warranty, but I believe Assurion does if you have insurance (which you can still add if it's within 30 days).
Yes, smart phones are definitely more sensitive to moisture. I don't even take mine into the bathroom with me while showering. And ever since I got caught in a rainstorm at a concert, I put my phone in a Ziploc bag if I'm in an outdoor situation where that could happen.
If it ever gets wet, immediately shut it off and pull out the battery. Place the phone and battery separately in a bag of uncooked rice for 1-2 days before even attempting to turn it on. (That's for, say, dropping it in a glass of beer ... a drop is probably OK.) I know it's hard to wait that long, but turning it on and charging are the worst things you can do. The moisture can corrode the battery and insides of the phone when the battery is connected. (Some people suggest using a hair dryer to blow out the water, but I would not do that ... the heat can ruin it, and the air can blow the water farther into the phone.)
I hope it's working and all is well! Thanks for giving others the heads-up.

I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water for a moment. After drying it and everything, it still does everything but get service. Can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one... is this true? I would truly appreciate the help, please let me know, thanks!

Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode.  In this case, all data on it is gone.  There's nothing to back up.

does it bring any harm or damage to the iphone 4s if let say there is a drop of water drop onto the iphone 4s RECEIVER??

Water and electronics are a bad combination. I've seen phones get a few drops of water on them and never work right again. Mind you, I've also seen phones (old flip phones) go through both washer and dryer and continue to work for years.
Does your phone still work? Are you experiencing any problems? If the answer to both of those questions is no, you should be okay.
