IPhone4 - Exchange Mail works on WiFi but not Cellular Network

I am not getting much help from my network admin so I am asking you guys. My mail works beautifully while connected to my corporate network via wifi. When I try to connect via the cellular netweork I get the "connection to the server failed" message. I think we are running exchange server 2003 and a cisco router/firewall. Any ideas that I can pass on to our IT admin?
Thanks!

CJ,
I fixed my issue and it was my fault. My Exchange account on the iPhone 4 works just fine over the cellular network now. My company uses IMAP for email and I had set up the IMAP account first on the iPhone because of VPN protocols set up by IT so I thought I needed to. Remember no support from my IT department for non Microsoft products...
I then set up the Exchange account for company email using my co-workers settings. The Exchange account was confusing the outgoing server from the IMAP account and would give me the "connection to server failed" message whenever I tried to use the company email over the cellular network.
I deleted both the IMAP account and the Exchange account and then set up only the Exchange account and it works perfectly now. With the IMAP account gone, the Exchange doesn't have that server getting in the way and works as it should.
You probably didn't make the same mistake I did, but thought I'd share my experience, just in case.

  • New GE70, killer e2200 working with WIFI but not by cable

    Hi!
I bought a GE70 today and noticed that I can connect to the internet through WiFi but not with a network cable.
I've tried to upgrade drivers and such, but it still doesn't work. I've no router in this apartment so I'm using WiFi through my old laptop so I can figure this thing out.
    What I've done so far:
    1. Installed the drivers on the CD which I got with the computer. Although when on BigFoot LAN Driver, it says that I've already another version installed and need to uninstall it).
    2. Downloaded the drivers for the network card through MSI homepage and installed. Funny thing, after that not even the WiFi worked.
    3. Tried to unplug the power for the modem and wait a while and then plug it back in but that didn't work either.
    4. Figured it might've been something wrong with windows so I did a factory recovery but that didn't seem to help either.
All I get when I plug the cable in, I get the "Limited access" (yellow mark) on the LAN icon down in the right side corner.
Has anyone else gotten this problem?
    Kind regards,
    W

    Thank you for your reply.
I think I've got it sorted now. I tried another network cable and it works now.
It's weird however since the cable I've used for about a month now works with my old computer (Win7) but not with my new computer.
Gonna go to an electronic store later and see if it will make any difference if I buy a new cable.
Does the killer e2200 only accept certain sort of network cables?
    Thanks again.
    W
It really should work with any network cable to be honest, as long as it's not a PATCH cable. Patch cables are wired slightly differently, but they are rare anymore.

  • Exchange 2010 - iPhone will work in Wifi but not ATT 3g

    Hello Everyone,
This is my first time posting, but I'm desparate!
I have an Exchange 2010 environment at our CoLo (not on site). I can connect to it on my iPhone 4 on ANY wifi network (home, work, etc), but if I connect to it via ATT 3g - no dice. I'm pretty sure it's a DNS issue, but there's no way for me to see what ATT DNS servers are returning. Anyone else have this problem? Does anyone know how long ATT caches DNS queries? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: It's totally DNS. I cannot hit OWA in safari either while on ATT, but again it works on WIFI everywhere. I setup DNS a little less than 24 hours ago, so I'm surprised that ATT is still having issues with it... Now I wonder if I can call ATT and see if they can flush the cached queries >.<

EDIT 2: Of course ATT was useless. Tried to transfer me away from them (to Apple and even Microsoft lol). I guess it's just a waiting game to see if their DNS servers get with the program...

  • Mail works on WLAN but not on 3G or Edge

    Hello,
I am having a interesting problem with my iphone. My emails will not send i get a "failed to connect to SMTP" server or similiar error message, however, when i walk into my house, my emails are sent over my wlan. I can receive emails and i know my account settings are ok otherwise it wouldn't work over the Wlan, just not over my 3G connection which is what I really need to work, when I am at home I can use my macbook pro to send emails!
    Help....!!

Is this email account provided by your internet service provider at home?
Most internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of the ISP's network or not provided by the ISP unless the SMTP server is authenticated. When connected to the internet via the carrier's cell phone network is no different in this regard. These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
Most ISPs do not provide an authenticated SMTP server for the email account they include with monthly internet access.
If this email account is provided by your internet service provider, this is why you are able to send messages when connected to your wireless network at home since you are connected to your internet service provider's network when doing so.
If you are in the U.S., Apple includes AT&T's SMTP server on the iPhone for sending email with an account that does not have an authenticated SMTP server when connected to the internet via AT&T's cellular network.
Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    Select the account.
Under the Outgoing Mail Server section, select the SMTP server selected to be used with your account.
Below the Primary Server section, there is an Other SMTP Servers section. If you are in the U.S., AT&T's SMTP server is available and probably turned off. Select the server and turn it on.
Below the Other SMTP Servers section, the following is provided when an additional SMTP server available is turned on:
If mail is unsuccessful using the primary server, it will try the other SMTP servers in succession.
This will take longer than usual since the primary SMTP server won't work when connected to the internet via AT&T's network. After sending is unsuccessful using the primary SMTP server, the 2nd SMTP server turned on will be used.
If this works, you can try using AT&T's SMTP server to send messages when connected to the internet via your ISP at home, but the same will likely apply in reverse. AT&T's SMTP server is not authenticated so your ISP at home will likely prevent you from being able to use this SMTP server when connected to the internet via their network.
I access two email accounts with my iPhone, and both have an authenticated SMTP server. I never have problems sending with either account regardless the ISP being used for my internet connection - via my wireless network at home, various wi-fi networks I have access to and frequent on occasion with different internet service providers, or when connected via AT&T's cellular network.

  • Skype works with WiFi but not with 3G

I have a Sony Xperia M, Andriod 4.3 and the last version of Skype. Skype runs perfectly with WiFI but when I turn it off it gets offline with my 3G. While other apps like Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, etc work well, Skype is logged in but offline: I can't send or recieve messages or calls and I see all my contacts but I can't see who's online. A friend has Sony Xperia M2 with Android 4.4 and is having the same problem with his 4G connection.
    What can I do?
Note: Clearing data, as it has been suggested in other posts, doesn't work.

I have the same issue with a Samsung Galaxy S4.

  • Internet works on guest but not main network

We have an airport extreme connected to a Dsl modem. The internet works fine when connected to the guest network but when connected to the main network the browser just times out and says server is not responding (for any website we try). Same thing on several computers (iMac, 2 different MacBook Pros).
The internet settings look the same for both guest and main network so I don't understand why one would work and not the other.
I tried getting rid of the guest network but the main network still failed to load webpages (even though it appears to be connected to internet).

Are you connecting the AirPort Extreme to a simple modem (it will only have one ethernet port), or is the device a gateway (combination modem/router with 3-4 ethernet ports)?

  • Junk Mail working on Mac but not iPhone

    Hi,
Using Mail on Yosemite, I keep getting annoying spam which I add to my Junk mail rules. It automatically goes to junk on my Mac but always goes to my Inbox on Mail on my iPhone.
Any reason why? It's quite annoying!

OK. Since this started happening after installing the Mac OS X 10.4.7 Update, let's make sure that the update is installed properly before proceeding any further.
Verify/repair your disk first (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update using the Combo installer:
Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:

Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, and no applications should be running while installing it.

  • Dropbox attachment sync with yahoo mail works in Chrome but not firefox.

In the beginning on April 2013, Yahoo mail added the feature of attaching a files straight from dropbox. This feature works fine when I select it in Google Chrome. When I select the option in Firefox it opens up the little window and has the loading wheel. It just stays at that stage forever. Where as in Chrome the dropbox window opens in 2 seconds. Is there as setting I need to change or and add on that I need to get? What's the problem?

  • QuickTime RTSP works on AirPort but not Wired Networks

I have a 10.4 X-Serve in a remote data facility running the QuickTime Streaming Server.
I also have a C2D MacBook Pro 17" running Leopard with both QT Pro and the QT Broadcaster on it.
When using AirPort to connect to the internet, the Broadcaster does broadcast and QT will play the stream from the server...
However, when I try the same thing through a wired network, which is in parallel with the wireless access point, the broadcaster fails to broadcast and QT won't play either the live stream or the default stream from the server (the one that plays when there isn't a live feed)
It works on Windows, Wired or Wireless, and works on Wireless Macs, but will not work on Wired Macs running Leopard...
    Any ideas/fixes?

    Hi Mark.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations (Parallels in particular, if you have that installed) and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
You may set up different network “locations” to make it easier to switch between network settings if necessary:

  • Why do I sometimes get "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding" with WiFi but not cellular?

When my iPad is connected to the internet via WiFi I can pretty much browse without problems. However, there are certain instances where a web page is requested and I get, after a bit of time passes, “Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding”. Repeated attempts to access these web pages via WiFi connection always yield the same results. However, if I turn off WiFi I can access the same pages almost instatntly via cellular connection. Any suggestions?

What is the URL which won't open?

  • "Cannot Get Mail" using iPad WiFi but works with 3G

I have a iPad 3G. Today I started have a problem reading my mail from Exchange. I get "Cannot Get Mail" when I use WiFi, but when I use my 3G (with the WiFi off) it works fine. I can do everything else on WiFi, and this is a new problem. I have already tried resetting the iPad and that didn't help. What do I do?

This has worked for over a month and I just started having problems today. This afternoon, it was working every now and then over WiFi, but not consistently. Everything else works fine, so I don't think it is my ISP.

  • Exchange mail after iOS 8 upgrade not working

exchange mail after iOS 8 upgrade not working.
I can not get email from my exchange account.
    Any suggestion?

Just had this issue.  I turned WIFI off and it connected fine.  Then turned WIFI back on and working as always.
It had something to do with the WIFI conflicting with the exchange server.

  • Wifi works at home but not when away from home

My Wifi works at home but not when away from home, what is wrong?  I thought with a phone plan I didn't need to have a wifi connection.

You either need WiFi or Cellular (or both). If you have neither, you can't connect to the internet.
Most people use WiFi at home and Cellular while away from home, or connect to public WiFi networks where there are some.
