Iphone4 on iOS 5- email send delayed by several hours. Different ISPs have same issue. iPad is sending immediately with same settings.

My iPhone is taking hours to send an email be it from gmail or yahoo, wifi or 3G, manual "other" email set up, or using the yahoo! Or gmail set up.
The iPad sends instantly.
I've reset the phone, killed background app, changed push/fetch and nothing is working.
This wasn't always an issue but cropped up around oct/nov--didn't change those email account settings but I did begin using the cloud @me.
Anyone have this problem?

Here's how outgoing mail works. Understanding this you can probably narrow down the problem yourself. Go to Mail,Contacts,Calendar and tap any email account that is a POP or IMAP account (not Exchange). Scroll down and tap on the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) entry. What will appear is a list of all of the outgoing servers that are installed on the phone. When you send email the phone first tries to send using the Primary Server. If that fails it tries all of the Other SMTP Servers that are On until one of them works. But it waits a couple of minutes for a response from each one it tries. So if the Primary doesn't work it will try the first Other, then the 2nd, etc. If you have several the time can add up.
As you have just upgraded, the phone may have "forgotten" the user ID and password or one or more of the servers. So tap on each of them and re-enter your user ID and password for each server (except cwmx.com, if it is there; this is the "fallback server" operated by AT&T). BTW, if you are not on AT&T the last server will be different; you can usually identify it by its name.

    Hi!
    My internet operator here in Finland is called Welho and email addresses has the ending @welho.com. I can send email to these welho-addresses without any problems, but when I try to send email to other addresses I get an erros message saying that can not send the email. Phone just asks my user name and password dispate that the are already stored in the email settings in the phone and they are correct.
    So anyone else having same kind of problems? Solutions?

    Are you on a "data tariff" with your network provider?
    If you are NOT access to SMPT servers other than welho is probably blocked

  • IOS 6 Email Notification Delay

    I have been having a problem since I upgraded to ios 6.  My phone will beep and/or vibrate signifying that I have an email but then it will take a second or two for the screen to light up with the notification.  My co-worker is also have this problem with his 4s.  Any ideas?  Could this just be a bug that will be fixed in the next release?

    Ive just rebooted my iphone 5 and its fied it. Someone above suggests to make sure if you have multiple email accounts to be consistent with the notifications... i have badges and banners and now when i get an email there is no delay, email preview just pops up when my screen is locked.     I have many business email addresses set up on my Z10. One of my accounts will happily receive emails but when I try to send I get the message 'Message Status: Protocol layer was unable to send a message' 
    Can anyone tell me what this could be? I have checked my settings and I appear to be replicating the successful settings in Outlook and on my PlayBook.

  • Several hour delay in receiving emails sent from mail?

    for 3 years i've had a pop email account with yahoo and it has worked flawlessly with my apple mail program until a few days ago when people started telling me that the emails i sent took several hours to reach them. so, using mail, i sent myself a test and confirmed the delay. emails i send immediately appear in my "sent" folder yet they don't reach their intended recipients until hours later. this problem is intermittent. there was a brief window the other day when emails i was sending from mail were arriving quickly. but, the problem soon returned and persists now. the problem does not affect the receiving of emails with mail. in other words, i am receiving all emails with mail. the problem only affects emails i send using apple mail.
    when i access my email account directly through yahoo to send emails, those emails arrive immediately.
    i hope i have described the problem clearly enough and i thank the community in advance for any insight and/or suggestions.

    If you select a message in Mail's message viewer, then select the menu item View > Message > Long Headers, the message headers will be displayed. Depending on how the message was routed, there may be several "Received" fields - these get added at each mail server that handles the message. Each "Received" field contains information such as IP addresses, host names, dates, and times - these can be used to tell how the message was routed and how long it took. Note that a sender can fake, or "spoof", their information (usually these are spammers), but once the message reaches real-world servers the information will be correct.

    I too am having delays in emails coming in over the last week, seeming to get worse today. Verified by discussing with client that was sending to me. Also having delays on some emails going out. Testing with another Yahoo account as well as GMail and seems to be centered in the verizon yahoo end. Gmail is sending fine . . .Does anyone know the status of this? I am on hold with tech support as I type this.

    Check out the article below to troubleshoot issues with sending email from Mail for Mac. Check in Connection Doctor to see if there is anything that could be preventing from sending it out. Also look to see if how big the email is as that could be an issue with the message sending out.

  • Emailing multiple individual photos from iPhoto is causing the same image to be on different emails. Need help!

    I am using iPhoto to edit my pictures from my Canon 60d. As I edit the photos, I send them by email within iPhoto (using the Large setting) to several members of my family. Last night I sent about 20 different pictures with different descriptive titles in the email to multiple people. However, when they view them in their email on their iPhones, it is showing the first picture over and over again, no matter what the title of the email says the photo is. It is even stretching the picture to either landscape or portrait depending on the view of the different pics in each email themselves but is still showing the same pic no matter the orientation.
    I need to figure out if this is a bug with iPhoto and iPhone or if I need to do something different. You would think if you choose an image and email it, it would be THAT image. It only began within the last two weeks or so but it has been consistent when emailing multiple single photos. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

    I've seen this issue myself between iPhoto and an iOS device.  It appears to be an issue with the how the iOS device sees the email templates used by iPhoto '11's built in email feature.
    Suggestions:
    Let Apple know you have this issue: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
    Go to iPhoto > Preferences > General > Email photos using > MailThis will bypass the email templates and send your images directly from the Apple Mail program.  You won't have the pretty templates, but the images will come through (which is the important part in my opinion).
    Keep your software up to date on your computer and on your iOS devices. (If / when a fix comes, that's how you'll get it.)

    If you login to your account on http://www.icloud.com is the iPad listed in the Find My iPhone part of your account ? If not then try toggling it 'off' and back 'on' on your iPad

    Following the upgrade to iOS 7.0.3 on all our iPhone and iPad devices, it has been identified that when sending emails around 100KB in size and over an error message appears on the device stating “Cannot Send Mail  The message was rejected by the server because it is too large.” See error message below. The send/receive limit is over 10MB so this is not the issue.
    We are in an Exchange Environment using Microsoft Activesync. This issue is not evident in iOS 6. This has been tested on an iPhone 3GS running version iOS 6.1.3. We have been unable to repeat the issues seen on iOS 7 on the older OS. It is not possible to roll back to the older operating system as Apple are no longer signing the software.
    We use Microsoft Active Sync to connect to our Exchange servers through a TMG. The issue is very inconsistent, some identical emails go through, some fail. This is not an issue with the send/receive limit as this is over 10MB. The error message when it fails on the TMG is Status: 413 Request Entity Too Large, which we believe is from IIS on the CAS server.
    Does anyone have any suggest course of actions to take?

    This resolution have to attend at the server not with the ios device. My employer's mail administrator reject me to correct it from the server. As his concern is, if ither ios devices works why don't mine? So I am helpless than changing my iphone. It works fine for early versions of ios and with androids. And also one of my friends iphone4 with ios 7 (similar as mine) works too. So I guess it's something wrong with my iPhones settings. But basic question I cannot understand is it works in my phone before this ios7 upgrading. And currently working with my yahoo account too. Favourable reply expected.

  • IOS 7 smtp problem - delays sending mail

    Sending mail with IOS 7 seems to incur delays.
    With a gmail account it takes on average 2 minutes to send mail to another gmail account. The delay from other clients seems to be around 30 sec.
    With another mail account connecting to a private mail server (with SSL and port 587), the delay varies from 4 minutes to over 100 minutes, and the longer delays always occur when several test emails are sent in a short space of time.
    These delays occur regardless of whether there is a 3G or wifi connection.
    From what I read there is a lot of icloud stuff going on in IOS 7 and I suspect that this is the reason for the sending delays. I have an icloud account set up but the features are all disabled except for find my ipad.
    I have two ipads and they both behave the same.
    Grrrr. I have wasted so much time on this, including a very frustrating phone call to apple support who of course will not acknowledge there is an issue.

    Do you have more than one mailbox syncing? Are you sure your in the all mailboxes view?

    Try deleting the mail account and setting it back up again.
