IPhone4 Proximity Sensor stopped working

This week my proximity sensor stopped working. I tried rebooting but it still will not work. I filmed the sensor during the call and there's a red light appearing but whatever I do, I cannot turn the screen off.
This is really annoying since my face is always selecting mute...
Is this a known issue? I tried searching but everyone keeps talking about cases and protective screens which I don't have.
Help?

+1, I'm facing this issue too. Have tried everything, like reinstalling firmware, removing screenguard etc. But no luck.

My iphone earpiece and proximity sensor stopped working suddenly

i have iphone4.
It was working fine. suddenly I dialled a call and noticed that the proximity sensor was not working. I could also not hear anything on my earpiece.
I tried various numbers but these 2 things are not working:-
1) proximity sensor
2) earpiece of the phone.
However I can use the headphones(earplugs) normally.
How do i get it to work. I have tried soft and hard restore already but no gain.

obviously its coverd by warranty unless you stole it.
so my advise is to call apple advisor
or altenatively you can try hard reset by pressing power and home button at the same time for 15 seconds

Proximity sensor stopped working after update

I updated to the new ios 7.1 and now my proximity sensor doesn't turn my screen off! So annoying while on the phone. Help!?

Remove any screen protectors or case on the device, does the problem continue?
If no screen protector/case or that does not resolve the issue, basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

I've now read quite a lot of the other discussions on this so I've literally tried everything. Mine stopped working about two days ago (It had been working fine the past 2 and a bit years) - it's just pretty annoying really (the face dialing etc).
What I've tried
Reset settings
Reset to factory settings
soft reboot
removed case
removed screen protector
Phone hasn't been dropped , immersed in water , lcd replaced etc etc
Anyone have any ideas?
P.S I can't take it in to an Apple retail store as at the moment I'm currently in New Zealand where they have no stores.

Also forgot to add that it also doesn't change brightness automatically anymore.

Proximity Sensor Not Working on Brand new Z2

Hi, The Proximity sensor is not working on my new Xperia Z2. I have ran all the tests on the phone and they have failed. When Put up to the ear during a call the screen does not switch off and all the icons get pressed etc. This is VERY annoying as i cant even speak to anyone for a minute before im dialing someone else by mistake. All Software is up to date. SONY, What the soslution here? I will be taking it into the Sony Center here tomorrow but I dont want to be without my only buisness phone for 3-4 days.

OK installed each update to the pre-installed apps one at a time and tested the proximity sensor after each. All fine till Sony TV Side view : quick remote. after instalation proximity sensor stopped working. after uninstall all working fine again.Seems this is the culprit but I will add my 3rd party apps one at a time just to make sure.

Lumia 920 proximity sensor not working

It's a 5 months old Lumia 920 and already the proximity sensor stopped working!!!
When i make a call or receive a call, when i place the phone beside my ear, or cover it with my hand just to check, nothing happens! The phone screen doesn't go black, it stays active for the entire time and the phone charge drains like crazy.
Guess it's a hardware failure. Still if anyone has any suggestions, i will appreciate much.

I've had the same problem. The screen won't blank during a call (like the proximity sensor isn't detecting my face/finger/hand). I keep hanging up on people with my ear. I've taken to locking my screen before putting it to my ear but anytime I get another call / text / voicemail / calendar notification / alarm while i'm on the phone (which happens a lot still) it lights the screen up again and makes it where i'm able to hang up with my ear.
I've factory reset, and had the phone replaced TWICE already. I'm on my 3rd Lumia 920 (and they all have the same issue!) This didn't happen until the most recent firmware update...so I think it was a problem created when they were trying to fix the other proximity sensor issue where the screen stayed on black all the time during a call.
Rebooting does fix the problem temporarily, but it always comes back. I'm tired of hanging up on people and hoping for a new model device from AT&T but they're giving me **bleep** at the moment.
TLDR: Factory reset, replacement devices don't fix the problem. It's a firmware bug. I'm on my 3rd 920 with the same issue. Extraordinarily frustrating.

Blackberry 9220 track sensor stop working

blackberry curve 9220 is a good set to use, but now i face some problem with track sensor.
once i installed the battery and boot the set, Track sensor works but after some time (approx 15 to 20 mints or some time after an hour) TRACK SENSOR stop moving only click button works.
This is know the routine process for me whenever sensor stop working i open the back cover and plug battery out.
and wait for 45 to 50 mints. After waiting whenever battery installed and set reboot sensor satrt working but only for some time sometime 15 to 20 mints or 40 to 45 mints but after that i have to face same problem of track sensor not moving and i' have to follow above said way

HDD 3D sensor stop working on Satellite P850

Hi Guy's..
I just bought a P850 laptop and after 2 days of use the HDD 3d sensor stopped working. Everything works fine in Toshiba PC Health Monitor, but Hard Disk Drive 3D sensor is just "gray" and i can not turn it on.
Do you have any suggestions for solutions?

Yes, I suggest you to uninstall the HDD Protection Utility and after new reboot download and install the HDD Protection Utility once again.
Additionally you can do the same with HDD/SSD Alert Utility

my wife had the same issue, even though it didn't look like it was covered, and the screen protector has a hole there, the cosmetics seem to create an invisible barrier, and once I cleaned it well, the sensor was working correctly.

Proximity sensor not working after IOS 6 upgrade

After upgrading to IOS 6 on a iphone 4 now the proximity sensor wont work just like before until they patched it.

I had the same problem.
It's unexplainable for me to tell you why, but I fixed it by switching the 'Airplane' mode on and off again.
I was testing all kinds of stuff, trying to get the sensor to work again.
In the settings I accidentally pressed the Airplane mode. And since I didn't wanted that on, I switched it off again.
A few seconds later I wanted to show a buddy of mine that my sensor didn't work anymore... and surprisingly it did work again.
Don't know what happened there, but it worked for me.
If you have the same problem, it's worth the try.
Drop a reply if it worked for you as well. Then we can confirm this mysterious fix

and allow me to tell you that I am just "normally" technical ...
-so please, please "speak" so I can understand.
My fingerprint sensor stopped working today, this has happen before,
restarting the computer has previously "fixed" the problem, but not today ... !
I have dowloaded and installed new drivers & software ( TrueSuite Access Manager ) ( from Toshiba support ) -- still not working ...
I have checked the Device manager ( Biometric Devices )
It says that the device is working properly. It says that the drivers are all up to date.
But it still does not work.
I've been on the phone with Toshiba support for a long time today, but not even support could help me ...
they had never heard of a similar problem on a Qosmio X300 before ( ? )
They suspcted that I had send it in for service ... and I would like to avvoid this, if I can ...
Cause that means that my computer will be gone for at least 14 days ...
I have also read all threads about fingerprint problems in this forum, and tried everything ... but nothing helps !
When I'm promted to scan my finger, the scanner seems to be "dead" ... ?
Can anyone please help me to solve this problem ?

Thanks so much for your answer. I did download the BIOS update, but got a message that I allready had the latest version,
so there would be no updates installed ... I guess that I ( without remembering ) dowloaded and updated this some time yesterday ( ! )
I guess that the next step will be to use the recovery disk ...
I would if possible, not do that, cause that means that I have to reinstall every program etc., right ?
Sorry ... this might sound like a stupid queston, but as I mentioned ... I'm just "normally" technical, so you have to excuse me on this :-)
Or I might just give up and send the computer in for service/repair ...
By doing this I might not have to reinstall everything , right ? ( hoping for a positive response on this )
I "suspect" that maybe the fingerprint sensor is broken, since I have tried all possible solutions ...
so this might be the best solution to my annoying problem ...

Hi im new on my iPhone 4 and my english is not so Good please understand me.
And last week i upgrated my Hardware form 4.1 to 5.1.1. Until this time everythings are ok. On my old firmware my proximity sensor working Good but in my new hardware not working. My iPhone is black and o tried all the things restarted, reset, restored, and turned my old firmware but nothing... Everythings goes the bad. Yesterday in my room and it was so dark i saw on dial screen top the loudspeaker a red light if i close dial red light is closing if dial a number red light is turning on i thing the proximity sensor is working as technique, but not working as software bug what can i do please help me????

Z10 - Light and proximity Sensor not working

Hi,
unfortunately neither the light Sensor nor the Proximity Sensor are working on my device (Z10). I did reset my device to factory settings yesterday but without success. BBVE tells all sensor services are available and running but the Proximity and Light Sensor tests fail. I tried to reboot the phone but afterwards BBVE claims the Sensor Services to be not even running anymore.
My Phone is currently running on Version 10.2.1.2977.
Is this a software or hardware releated problem? And does there exist any fix to it?

This problem occured suddenly, during normal operation. I don't have any Android apps installed. I even got the same issue right after I reloaded the OS and after the factory reset. Very strange.
