Iphone4 stopped making calls or text msgs

all of a sudden this morning my iphone4 stopped making or recieving calls or txt msgs even tho i have got signals and i got 3G and i can browse internet i have tried sim in different fone it works perfectly fine so something is wrong with my iphone anyhelp? thanks i got latest 4.3.5 software i restored it as well reset network settings, reset carrier everything nothing seems working dont knw what happened?

Have you contacted your carrier? If you can not send or receive text messages, there may be something wrong with the provisioning on your account. Of course, you dont' tell us exactly what is happening. Can you even open the text message app or does it crash when you try? If you can open it, what exactly happens when you try to send a text?
mamaia, maybe if you would provide even the slightest amount of real information regarding your problem, people would be more inclined to help you. In your thread, the ONLY information you would give was that text messaging didn't work. You see, we need to know WHAT doesn't work about it to even begin to suggest anything. You cop an attitude when people ask for information and call us rude? Good luck getting help that way.

IPhone 4 iOS 5.0.1 stops receiving calls and text messages

Hi all,
My iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) suddenly stopped receiving calls and text messages. However, I'm still able to send them.
The workaround for fixing this issue is to make an hard reset to the iPhone.
This only occured with 5.0.1 version. It's very annoying because I'm not able to know if it's working or not (I can only suppose that it's not working when I'm a long period without receiving calls/messages)
Do you know how to solve this ?

You can call you're carrier and have them unlock it.

I just got my new phone last night. I was able to use most features except making calls or texting. According to Verizon (online, etc), the phone is activated. What is happening?

Thanks for the information everyone. All your answers are correct. If your activating a new phone you will always want to start with both phone being completely turned off. Then you will want to turn the new phone on only. Once the new phone is on, you will dial *228, option #1 to program your phone. Once the programming is complete, your phone will usually power cycle itself to soft reset but if it does not, you will need to manually power cycle. This will complete the process and your phone should work.
If you continue to have issues with making and receiving calls and messaging, we will need to speak with you to on an alternate phone to manually program your device.

Okay, one day a little less than a MONTH ago, my iphone 4 just stopped receiving calls(90% of the time) and making calls(50% of the time.). I panicked because my job depends on my phone to work. So, i go to apple, ATT, back to apple, back to ATT, etc. There is no end to this. And, literally, the people at ATT and Apple, keep telling me that they are probably not going to figure out a solution, and that I should just cancel my account. Now, I really don't want to do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!New iphone from apple because they thought it was a ATT problem but gave me new iphone 4 anyway, new sim about 1 minute after the new phone, new phone number. The engineers at ATT said if i relocated and told them that i was moving, it would give me a new number and reset all the routing stuff. I didn't want to do this because of losing my number with business, but had to resort to it anyway. Now I have a number from a different state, and I still have the problem!!!!!!!!! I have exhausted all my options with apple and att, and both tell me the only thing i can do is buy a prepaid phone from a different service! I need my iphone for work, and this has been going on for over a month now. I was told there was a routing issue, but the engineers opened a ticket on it, and NO solution. Then they opened a second case ticket, and still no good. They are claiming I should cancel and buy a new phone. My phone just stopped recieving calls one day. No notification of missed calls, EVER since this started happening. Voicemails go thru( only some of them) about an hour or two later, and texts are taking a bit longer than usual. I have really tried everything the engineers can think of, even getting a brand new phone! Please someone help me!!!!!!!! I am desperate!!!!!!!!!!!! This happens anywhere i go, not just in my area.

I compose an iMessage with the destination as my email address and I attach 2 photos I want on my PC. I send them several times from my iPhone 5C but they never arrive. I look at my ipad later and realize that it's iMessage app is getting ( and swallowing) these emails. I then turn the ipad off. Still can't get the photos through because iphone is now getting them on it's iMessage. I turn off the iMessage feature and try to send photos from text msging. Phone tells me it can't send photos unless iMessage it turned on. What happened to regular MMS text messaging? I go and try to send photos as an email attachment and see that there is no option to attach from the stupid email program. I look up online to learn about the brave new world of apple attachments and send them.

Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.

Stopping Siri from making calls

Hi guys, is there anyway of stopping Siri from making calls? The problem I am having is that I use Siri on my motorcycle and at high speeds it gets the commands wrong. For example, I say 'play podcasts' and it calls one of my contacts.

I had Airplane mode on but WiFi was also still on when I tested it on my phone.
Scratch that idea...
Here's another one.
If you turn off Siri altogether, you'll revert to the older Voice Control which doesn't rely on a nertwork connection.
Perhaps, that mode will be less likely to misunderstand than Siri.

I started with my carrier, Verizon, and they referred me to Apple/Support. They are regular text messages and since I upgraded to the S4 the text messaging remains with the old iphone4, as odd as it sounds.
Verizon tech said that he had seen this before and Apple could disconnect the iphone completely which supposedly solves the problem. I've had no luck getting to anyone with Apple Support.

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

I am having problems making calls and sending text messages and now getting my iphone activated.

I have a iPhone 4 and I had problems sending texts and making calls so I got a new one. I then gave my boyfriend my old iphone snd told him if he could get it to work he could have it. For some reason we are having problems getting it to activate. it wont let us make calles to verizon or anything on it. I do still have a warranty on the phone so would I be able to send it in and get a new one? or how does that work?

Looks like apple is kiding with us. Ive had this problem since Ios 6.1 and now after 3 days I ulgraded to 6.1.2 this ****** issue has returned. Again the other part will listen me if I scream HELLOOo in the first second and then everything works fine or if I wait 1 minute but none can wait that.
