  • IPhone stuck in phone mode.

    I need some insight! My iPhone will get stuck in phone mode, and i can't get out of it. This happened to my old iphone as well - but I just brought that one to the store and exchanged for this new one because the old one had water damage. This one - I got it yesterday. I will hit the home button from texting, and it will go straight to phone mode, and will not return to the home screen when I hit the home button. Anyone else have this problem? I need some help!
    Thank you

    Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • IPhone4 stuck in recovery mode. iTunes recognises it as an iPad. Help, please!

    My iPhone4 switched off yesterday morning (battery was nearly 90% at the time)  and it won't switch back on. It's stuck in recovery mode and every plausible solution (home/power button combinations, reinstalling iTunes etc.) has been exhausted. I've tried  charging it, resetting it etc. etc. and nothing has worked. The screen is just black. Nothing shows up no matter what I do. When I plug  it in to sync (Makes no difference if I'm holding down the home button  or not when I do so) with iTunes it says that it recognises an IPAD that  is in recovery mode and asks do I want to restore the IPAD. No other details show  up (serial shows as N/A) I've even uninstalled all Apple software on my  PC, restarted Apple Mobile Device Manager and all that... Nothing. This  is the first time I've ever had an issue with my phone. It seems my PC recognises my iPhone as an iPad. No amount of cable changing, USB port changing, reinstalling etc. helps.Can anybody offer me a solution? Please, I'm at my wits' end
    Thank you!

  • IPhone4 - Stuck in Headphone mode

    Ok, My iPhone4 is completely stuck in headphone mode.
    It was in my pocket today and it did get slightly damp (freaking rain).
    any-case, I really do not know what to do, I've tried using compressed air to blow into the jack etc, No luck.
    Restoring. No luck.
    Rebooting. No luck..
    What should I do?

    Randomphil,
    Same issue here.  It looked like most of the fixes for this problem you see out there were posted by owners of the iphone 3 & earlier, and none of them worked on my 4 -- not to mention, I hadn't put headphones in since the last time I used the onboard speaker.  I think the issue was actually fixed with the 4 as I never have had this problem until now, despite using various non-iPhone headphones for months now.
    My phone was in my glove box for a few hours during a foggy day, and when I got back to the car, a small amount of condensation appeared on it when I was handling it - probably due to the quick temperature increase from nearly freezing to being in my hands.  Now that I've had time to think clearly instead of rushing to my phone, I realize that, yes, this commonly happens with electronics, even if you're not getting them wet, the condensation in the air can quickly soak into your phone - especially during a rapid temperature change - and cause potential issues, although they are usually minor.  Need to allow time for the moisture to dry before using the phone.
    I saw your comment yesterday and decided to give it a try.  About 3 hours in a tightly sealed bag of rice seems to have wicked out all the moisture, and it works fine now.
    Thanks!

  • IPhone4 stuck in recovery mode after iOS5 update

    Hi guys,
    hope someone will be able to help.
    I bought a second hand iPhone 4 from ebay and all was well when recieved.
    However I then tried to update to iOS 5 a few days ago and iTunes said "an unkown error occured (-1)" during the restore and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode.
    I took the phone to a local apple store where a genius told me that the phone had had a "dodgy" repair in the past and so they were unwilling to work on it.
    I have tried many methods to exit recovery mode but none have worked.
    I will be happy to even stay on iOS4 forever as long as I get my phone back and workable.
    FYI, before the update to iOS 5 all updates  were succesful and never encountered a problem, the phone has never been jailbroke or hacked in any manor.
    PLEASE HELP!

    Look what google found! Amazing how that works eh?

  • Iphone4 stuck in recovery mode after failed attempt to update OS. how to fix?

    Hi,
    I tried to update my iPhone software (after successfully backing up to iCloud, and then successfully updating iTunes software) but got a 1604 error message.  The phone is stuck in recovery mode, and all attempts to restore the phone have resulted in failure.  I keep getting the same error message.  Basically, the phone never gets past "preparing to restore."  Please help.
    I am linking my iPhone 4 to a PC Windows XP Professional, with up-to-date software.  This is the third time I've tried (and failed) to update the iPhone software, though the other two times I was able to restore.  This time nothing seems to be working.  Please help!  Thanks.

  • IPhone - original model - stuck in phone mode

    My iPhone is stuck in the phone mode. I can switch from favorites, to recent, contacts, keypad and voicemail. But I cannot go to the Home page, nor can I turn the phone off. I've tried syncing it, by attaching to my laptop and that seemed to work, as some new photos went from the phone to iPhoto.
    Any advice, please?
    Geraldine

    Hard boot worked for me. I was having the same problem. I did not know of the hard boot feature though until now. Thanks. Apple better get that bug fixed and fast.

  • IPhone4 slow in phone mode

    My iPhone4 has today become very slow whilst using the phone - each key press takes up to 15 seconds to register making using the phone almost impossible - all other apps work fine and when in plane mode I can browse around the phone mode easily and quickly - when back in normal phone mode is slows down again.
    I have doen the usual resets, closing of all applications, restoring etc and it still seems to be an issue - any help greatfully received,
    Matt

    Fancy seeing you here! Was researching your issue, but you're already on it.........have you done a full restore in iTunes?

  • Original iPhone Stuck in Phone Mode and Won't turn off

    I can only navigate in the phone mode - dialing out, messages, keypad, favorites, etc. and can't get back to the Home Screen when I push the button. Also, the phone will not turn off - only go into sleep mode when I press that button. When it comes back on, it goes back into Phone mode. Help

    Ugh dont even remind me about this issue...I bought my iPhone on a Thursday and by Saturday my iPhone started doing this. I could do nothing but stay in the phone mode, could not back out to home screen and all kinds of drama--eventually to where the phone wouold not even turn on. I took it back to the AT&T store and advised them the iPhone I had purchased 3 days prior and handed it to the sales person and he promptly advised me my iPhone was not turning on. I requested a replacement, as I had only owned the iPhone for less then 3 days. I was informed they would be happy to replace, but I would have to pay a re-stocking fee (40.00, after paying 500.00 for original- less then 3 days prior). I was dangerously close to a heart attack-lol. After several hours in store demanding a new phone, they made a call to the GM of the AT&T store, who happened to be on vacation. GM referred rep to Asst manager of the store; who it turns out was an old high school friend of mine. He exchanged the phone at no cost, which made me happy, but left a horrible taste in my mouth for AT&T. I guarantee if there was another provider, I would have (and maybe still) take my iPhone services somewhere else- as well as my second line of cell phone service for a family member. That was the worse case of cust service ball dropping I think I have even endured. It ranks up there close to my mobile me escapade, which finally was resolved.

  • 1 week old iPhone4 stuck in Recovery mode loop

    Hi there
    today when I connected my ip4, iTunes asked me to download and install the latest iOS 4.0.2, after that it went into a recovery mode loop and I cant do muh more. I have so far tried to restore using 3 other pc´s, xp and Win7. Tried different USB cable, disable firewall/antivirus, but nothing helps. I am constantly getting an error 9, but I have seen error 2009 and 3194 as well (tried about 10 times so far).
    Dont know what else to try
    Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    I had same problem. When upgraded to 4.0.1 I had to take it to apple store to be reset. Tried everything. When it happened with 4.0.2 they gave me a new phone. Sadly I had to reload 30g of music/movie/app twice. Glad I have a better option if it happens next time.

  • IPhone4 stuck in Recovery Mode (iOS-5 update)

    Hi Everyone,
    I recently attempted to upgrade my new iPhone4 to IOS-5.However as usual, after the OS software download and subsequent installation / restorebegan, the iPhone jammed in recovery mode (the one with the iTunes logo andcable). Error-Code 1602.
    This is not the first time this has happened; my 3Gsuffered the same fate twice during this dreaded iPhone-OS upgrade, while I hadto seek an iPhone specialist for repair. This is not an option at present.
    The iPhone is recognised in Windows (Device Manager),just no longer in iTunes itself. ITunes does not recognise the iPhone in diagnosticseither.
    I have tried thefollowing:
    2x Uninstalled (in sequence):
    -       ITunes;
    -       Quick-time;
    -       Apple Software update;
    -       Apple Mobile Device support;
    -       Bonjour;
    -       Apple application support;
    -       Program files x86 (bonjour, Apple, iTunes, QuickTime);
    -       System 32 (Quick Time).
    Restart. Downloaded iTunes 10.5, installed, noresult for iPhone.
    I have attempted almost everything on the apple support pages without luck:
    Disabled Firewall and anti-virus Security
    Reinstalled device via Device Manager
    Tried different USB ports
    Changes USB cables
    Please help me?
    Operating System:
    Asus G73JW
    Windows-7 Ultimate (64bit)
    iTunes 10.5 (64bit)
    Trend Micro Internet Security
    iPhone4 previously: V4.3.3

  • Iphone4 stuck in recovery mode

    Toshiba Satellite C55A laptop, with genuine Windows 8.1 , fully updated.
    With  the latest version of Itunes installed, my  Iphone 4 is not recognised using USB cable.
    At the device manager:
    The Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode) is present, but with a yellow marking suggesting a problem
    Worse, there are two Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode) entries in the device manager !
    Trying to update drivers,  failed.
    At SERVICES (local)   the  Apple Mobile Device is not present.
    Installing and reinstalling Itunes 11.3.0.54 many times, perhaps 20 times never showed up the Apple Mobile Device on local services in windows 8.1
    Found
    usbaapl64.sys  usbaapl64.inf  are missing.
    Downloaded these files; tried to update again, problem persists saying The drivers for this device are not installed ( code 28 )
    Connecting the iphone to usb port, there is always two entries of  Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode), I uninstall one of them, but after restart, it will show up again !
    I have installed and reinstalled Itunes several times to no vail.
    I have folowed and checked all the tricks available on both Microsoft and Apple support, to no vail.
    My iphone 4 is useless now ! Whose to blame Microsoft or Apple ?

  • IPHONE4 STUCK IN RESTORE MODE

    My iphone was working fine and out of the blue it shut off competely and would not turn on. I tried to restore it and it said i had an unknown error 21. If someone could help me fix this issue i would greatly appreciate it.

    This is an Error that I have rarely seen discussed.
    Here is Apple Explanation: Error 20, 21, 34, 37: These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. If you are using a PC, follow this article to resolve this issue.
    I have heard of a person replacing battery of iPhone 4 resolving this error, but also several other users have done the same without resolution by battery replacement.
    Turn OFF your Antivirus and FireWall and follow Apple advice.

  • Help! Can't Exit Phone Mode????

    Hey all,
    I got 2 3G's (my wife and me) this morning mine got stuck in phone mode. It defaults to my favorites, and i can only select dialpad, contacts, favorites, and voicemail from the bottom.
    I can't exit out to get to my apps, settings, anything? I've tried turning the phone off and on, and popping the sim card, it always takes me back to my favorites in the phone mode, and that's it??
    any ideas?

    I had to exchange my phone today due to a faulty home button. Had a lot of problems exiting anything. The button on the new phone feels a lot different. If you continue to have problems, go to the apple store and have them check the home button.
