My iphone 4 has just started doing the same. On it's own. It wasn't being used when it started vibrating. It won't reset after 10 secs. I've read to hold for 2-3mins. DOne that. Still doesn't work. Apple, what is going on?

  • IPhone4 stuck in recovery mode. iTunes recognises it as an iPad. Help, please!

    My iPhone4 switched off yesterday morning (battery was nearly 90% at the time)  and it won't switch back on. It's stuck in recovery mode and every plausible solution (home/power button combinations, reinstalling iTunes etc.) has been exhausted. I've tried  charging it, resetting it etc. etc. and nothing has worked. The screen is just black. Nothing shows up no matter what I do. When I plug  it in to sync (Makes no difference if I'm holding down the home button  or not when I do so) with iTunes it says that it recognises an IPAD that  is in recovery mode and asks do I want to restore the IPAD. No other details show  up (serial shows as N/A) I've even uninstalled all Apple software on my  PC, restarted Apple Mobile Device Manager and all that... Nothing. This  is the first time I've ever had an issue with my phone. It seems my PC recognises my iPhone as an iPad. No amount of cable changing, USB port changing, reinstalling etc. helps.Can anybody offer me a solution? Please, I'm at my wits' end
    Thank you!

  • IPhone4 - Stuck in Headphone mode

    Ok, My iPhone4 is completely stuck in headphone mode.
    It was in my pocket today and it did get slightly damp (freaking rain).
    any-case, I really do not know what to do, I've tried using compressed air to blow into the jack etc, No luck.
    Restoring. No luck.
    Rebooting. No luck..
    What should I do?

    Randomphil,
    Same issue here.  It looked like most of the fixes for this problem you see out there were posted by owners of the iphone 3 & earlier, and none of them worked on my 4 -- not to mention, I hadn't put headphones in since the last time I used the onboard speaker.  I think the issue was actually fixed with the 4 as I never have had this problem until now, despite using various non-iPhone headphones for months now.
    My phone was in my glove box for a few hours during a foggy day, and when I got back to the car, a small amount of condensation appeared on it when I was handling it - probably due to the quick temperature increase from nearly freezing to being in my hands.  Now that I've had time to think clearly instead of rushing to my phone, I realize that, yes, this commonly happens with electronics, even if you're not getting them wet, the condensation in the air can quickly soak into your phone - especially during a rapid temperature change - and cause potential issues, although they are usually minor.  Need to allow time for the moisture to dry before using the phone.
    I saw your comment yesterday and decided to give it a try.  About 3 hours in a tightly sealed bag of rice seems to have wicked out all the moisture, and it works fine now.
    Thanks!

  • Iphone4s stuck on apple logo. NOT JAILBROKEN. Fix WITHOUT restoring?

    My Iphone4s is stuck on apple logo, won't go past it. My phone is NOT JAILBROKEN. How can I fix WITHOUT restoring? Is it possible? Even if just to get my stuff off there. I have important data that is not backed up/not synced. Phone was working fine, I have done nothing to alter phone at all. I turned it off because I couldn't get cell signal and then when I turned it back on: stuck on apple logo. I don't know what IOS version. I appreciate the help! Thank you!!

    As already provided:
    You can try resetting the phone: Press the Sleep/Wake button & Home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release.
    If that doesn't work, you'll have to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it.

  • IPhone4 stuck in Recovery Mode (iOS-5 update)

    Hi Everyone,
    I recently attempted to upgrade my new iPhone4 to IOS-5.However as usual, after the OS software download and subsequent installation / restorebegan, the iPhone jammed in recovery mode (the one with the iTunes logo andcable). Error-Code 1602.
    This is not the first time this has happened; my 3Gsuffered the same fate twice during this dreaded iPhone-OS upgrade, while I hadto seek an iPhone specialist for repair. This is not an option at present.
    The iPhone is recognised in Windows (Device Manager),just no longer in iTunes itself. ITunes does not recognise the iPhone in diagnosticseither.
    I have tried thefollowing:
    2x Uninstalled (in sequence):
    -       ITunes;
    -       Quick-time;
    -       Apple Software update;
    -       Apple Mobile Device support;
    -       Bonjour;
    -       Apple application support;
    -       Program files x86 (bonjour, Apple, iTunes, QuickTime);
    -       System 32 (Quick Time).
    Restart. Downloaded iTunes 10.5, installed, noresult for iPhone.
    I have attempted almost everything on the apple support pages without luck:
    Disabled Firewall and anti-virus Security
    Reinstalled device via Device Manager
    Tried different USB ports
    Changes USB cables
    Please help me?
    Operating System:
    Asus G73JW
    Windows-7 Ultimate (64bit)
    iTunes 10.5 (64bit)
    Trend Micro Internet Security
    iPhone4 previously: V4.3.3

  • IPhone4 stuck in recovery mode after iOS5 update

    Hi guys,
    hope someone will be able to help.
    I bought a second hand iPhone 4 from ebay and all was well when recieved.
    However I then tried to update to iOS 5 a few days ago and iTunes said "an unkown error occured (-1)" during the restore and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode.
    I took the phone to a local apple store where a genius told me that the phone had had a "dodgy" repair in the past and so they were unwilling to work on it.
    I have tried many methods to exit recovery mode but none have worked.
    I will be happy to even stay on iOS4 forever as long as I get my phone back and workable.
    FYI, before the update to iOS 5 all updates  were succesful and never encountered a problem, the phone has never been jailbroke or hacked in any manor.
    PLEASE HELP!

  • Iphone4 stuck in recovery mode after failed attempt to update OS. how to fix?

    Hi,
    I tried to update my iPhone software (after successfully backing up to iCloud, and then successfully updating iTunes software) but got a 1604 error message.  The phone is stuck in recovery mode, and all attempts to restore the phone have resulted in failure.  I keep getting the same error message.  Basically, the phone never gets past "preparing to restore."  Please help.
    I am linking my iPhone 4 to a PC Windows XP Professional, with up-to-date software.  This is the third time I've tried (and failed) to update the iPhone software, though the other two times I was able to restore.  This time nothing seems to be working.  Please help!  Thanks.

    No, I really do not know because the OP failed to provide clear details of the issue.
    In case you missed it, this is a user to user support forum.  None of us work for Apple.
    Get over yourself.  You bought a carrier locked phone, that's not Apple's problem, it is YOURS.  Contact the carrier the device is locked to and see if they offer unlocking.  If not, sell it and buy one intended for use in your country.  Life is too short to get so irritated and waste so much time on a fracking phone.

    For your prompt and easy answer.  I went ahead and did a reset .before seeing your reply.
    I am back to  same  problems I had 5 ,6 months ago.
    McAffee Antivirus again told me I was Protected  even   though McAFee's Certificate is EXPIRED,,also I was still covered when I went to uninstall it, but I went ahead anyway with the uninstall.  How can I trust a program,when their own certificate is expired? I sure do not want it running on my pc.  .The Windows Defender would not start!!.
    From everything I have seen  and experienced for the last 6  months.It is not HP. but Windows 8.1  or Microsoft.

    Nothing is easy with Windows 8  8.1      anyone getting ready to purchase a new PC,  I would tell them to avoid Windows 8, like the plague.  It is and has been nothing but a continous headache
    I have been through hell for 6 month with this  "thing" .Now after reset recover what ever I did.  No doubt I will spend  the rest of the life of this Pc  or ME, trying to get this thing to work right where I can actually enjoy it,
    Again thank you for your help,I made a note of it, ( SIGH)
    That seems to be how I spend 90'% of my time,searchng for answers  and making notes  in order to fix another after another  ongoing issue with this p.c.
    By the way ,I am not an authority by no means but have previously had computers,  H.P was my very first ,I do not remember the version but I knew nothing and rarely ever had any problems. I sure miss it,   This version is a Nightmare.!

  • IPhone4 stuck in USB 1.1

    Hello.
    It seems that my iPhone4 is not working in USB2.0 anymore.
    I have tried this phone in five different machines and all of the just show that picture.
    I have tried restoring the phone (which is painfully slow in this mode) and no go.
    What I noticed before was this: When plugged in to the PC with USB the iphone would randomly reconnect to computer even if I didn't touch to the phone or computer.
    It looks like I have to get replacement phone. And yes I have tried what http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286 that page is suggesting. No go.

    Well, that's at least partly good news. Glad you got it back to where you can at least answer the danged thing.
    I fear a bad connector may be gaining traction as a probable cause: 3 other computers, another cable, all the ports on your PC... It wouldn't hurt to try that download that was linked to. Don't know it will do anything, but if there's a special bit of code for your OS, it can't hurt.
    Fingers crossed that DFU and a firmware restore work to knock it loose. When you do it, try the phone as a "new" phone first before restoring a backup. It could be that there was some funkiness in the backup that caused this. Especially if you upgraded from an earlier model. Just swing through the 3Gs section and you will see tons of little things that are fixed by restoring as new.
    Good luck!

  • Iphone4 stuck in voice control

    my phone has a password, so I cant get into it via itunes. it went into 'voice control somehow, i am so stuck...i have tryed the home/off button to reset but it did not work. can anyone help me?

    This would generally only happen if you had set a passcode on your phone and never subsequently synced your phone after setting it.  Regardless, at this point you may have to enter the passcode on your phone with VoiceOver on.
    With VoiceOver on the gestures on the phone operate differently.  You first have to tap once to select an item you want to activate, then double-tap it to activate it.  To enter the number 1 for example, you would first tap 1 once, then double-tap the 1 to enter it.  Then continue with the other numbers in your passcode.  Also, to scroll the screen, you drag or swipe the screen with three fingers.
    Assuming you can enter your passcode by following this procedure, you turn off VoiceOver in settings by following these steps exactly as written:
    Press Home.
    Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.
    Tap General. Then double-tap General.
    Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.
    Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.
    Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.
    Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.
