IPhone4 to Apple TV movie streaming problem

Movies recorded using my iPhone stream no problem to Apple TV via Airplay but movies that have been downloaded seperately and loaded onto my iPhone and are stored in my iPod part of the iPhone do not have the Airplay icon to allow streaming. Any ideas anyone? If my computer is on the same movies stream ok from there to the Apple TV but doesn't seem happy doing it for the one's saved on my phone.
Many thanks

I am having the same problem, what are we doing wrong or is that yet another feature that is not supported by Apple

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.
You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Apple TV movie streaming from hard drive stops

I'm streaming movies from my Mac mini to Apple TV.  (Have done this with no problem for >1 year). For the last two days the movies will stop in mid play and not start again.  The only remedy is to quit iTunes on the Mac and restart. This will happen multiple times in a movies.  I have not been able to correlate the timing to anything.    Any ideas?

  • Apple TV Movie Streaming Errors

My 40 GB ATV has been very tempermental when I try to stream from my iMac. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it kinda works where my movies need to rebuffer frequently, and more often than not I get a "No content found error".
Oddly enough there have been instances where I get a "No content found error" when streaming, I try streaming another movie which will work and I got back to my original movie and it works.
There has also been another instance where a movie is streaming just fine, it rebuffers and gets stuck. I then go back to menu and reselect the movie and I get a "No content found error".
Here is some info on my set up environment. I have a iMac connected wirelessly with 802.11n enabled with full reception, ATV with full reception, and an Airport Extreme. My iMac is running iTunes 7.4.2 and my library is loaded on an external hard drive via Firewire. (Seagate Free Agent 750 GB) My full length movies (1-2 hours) are encoded either by Handbrake or iSquint and are between 500MB - 1.5 GB in size.
Here are some other quirky things I noticed on my ATV. When I play movies that are resident on ATV, they sometimes take about 15 - 30 seconds to load. When they do it goes through that rebuffer sequence as if it were streaming. Should it start playng instantly since it is on the local hard drive? I sometimes even get a "No content found error".
What's really odd, is that things seemed to go haywire when I moved the ATV from my theater room to my master bedroom. When I had it in my theater room, the thing hummed. Worked flawlessly most of the time.
But here are some things to note about the environment between the home theater scenario and master bedroom scenario:
    Master Bedroom Scenario: outlined above.
Home Theater Scenario: iMac had full reception, ATV had 3/4 reception. At that time I had a Western Digitial My Book 500 GB drive connected to my Airport Extreme via USB which hosted my iTunes Library. Oddly enough, at some point iTunes automatically changed my iTunes Library folder from the Western Digitial My Book 500 GB to my iMac internal hard drive.
Since things were a little quirky after I move the ATV to my master bedroom I did a Factory Restore hoping to wipe the slate clean. This helped a little, but the ATV is not running as smoothly as it did out of the box.
Could this be perhaps that I am running my iTunes library on an external Hard Drive? Please note, that my iMac and Hard Drive go into sleep mode when inactive after a certain amount of time.
Any thoughts anyone? Similar encounters? Thanks!

  • I have a movie streaming problem with my 2nd generation Airport Extreme

I am using a second generation airport extreme and I am having trouble streaming movies/tv.  I did not have a problem using a new airport extreme.
    Any ideas?

This was solved by buying an Apple Airport Base Station.

  • Weak bass with Apple TV movie streaming.

I recently hooked my apple tv (3) to my surround receiver via optical cable. The Dolby Digital sounds great overall, but my subwoofer is definetly not getting the same umph as, say, a blu ray or even DVD movie. Is there any way to fix this?

pretty sure the digital stream is passed through the appletv unaltered so the stream is 100% as it was added to the itunes store (which of cause could be weak compared to your wishes)
if it's media you made yourself then maybe some wrong settings was set for the encoding

  • ITunes Match on Apple TV 2 streaming problem?

With  iOS 6 music from iCloud is streaming perfectly via iPhone 4 and iPad 2 but on my Apple TV 2 it is still unreliable. Has anyone else found this?  I'm wondering if the ATV could be affected by proximity to amps etc, or whether I should assign static ip addresses to all my devices.  Any suggestions very welcome.  It seems mad that plugging my iPhone into the stereo works better than the ATV!

I recommend first you check software update on the Apple TV to be certain you are up to date.  If you are up to date, I recommend you unplug power to the Apple TV, leave it unplugged for a few minutes, then plug it back in.  If that does not help, re-set the Apple TV.  The instructions for doing that are at this link.  If the link does not load, just reload it and it should show up.

  • How I resolved my Apple TV download speed problems

I have been experiencing download speed problems with my Apple TV2 for a while. The performance was so bad that I couldn't buy or rent movies from Apple TV, because it would take hours to even start the download. I wasn't sure if the problem was with my ISP (Comcast), the modem, or the wireless router.
I just logged in to my wireless router (Cisco Linksys E300) and changed the following two settings:
    Network Mode = Wireless-N Only
Channel Width = 20 Mhz Only
After restarting my Apple TV2, movie streaming is now perfect. It took less than one minute to start the streaming of a recently purchased movie.
I recalled reading some time ago that a Network Mode which allows switching between B, G and N wireless modes can cause problems with streaming. Perhaps each time switching occurs, the Apple TV has to renegotiate with the iTunes Store. I'm not sure that the "Channel Width" setting is necessary or relevant, but since I'm happily streaming again, I don't really care.
I hope that this helps others resolve this problem.

If you have home sharing enabled on the Apple TV and an IOS running on the same network you can use the remote app. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a new remote.

  • Apple TV streaming problems with itunes

Apple TV streaming problems. Since recent last update to AppleTV when I try to streams movie or tv show from iTunes sometimes it is fine sometimes it takes hours (Hd or Sd). No problem with netflix. Wifi is not super strong in location but this was not a problem at all before update. Any suggestions?
    Paul

    ok.
this is not a solution to your problem, but you didn't need to do that just to remove it from appletv. you could have simply unticked the item in your library and that would have made it not available to appletv. you could also have amended your sync options. you don't need to delete something from your library just to remove it from appletv.
however back to your problem. it sounds like the appletv is not syncing the changes to your library. you should restart your appletv and see if that forces the change.

  • Streaming Apple TV movies from external Hard Drives

I have my entire movie collection converted to mp4's and on external hard drives plugged into an Airport Extreme. I use my Macbook Pro as my main computer for my itunes media.
I just got the new Apple TV2 and I am having issues with the movies streaming. Basically what is happening is when I play the movie it stops and spools for a minute or two, plays for a few more minutes and stops and spools again.
Both My Macbook Pro and Apple TV are using WiFi do you suppose if I hard wired my Apple TV into my Airport it would help matters?
I wish that the Apple TV would load the entire movie first then play it rather than stream!
If anyone can ease my pain I would be grateful!!!
    Thanks!

This problem is just one of many problem's that I have experienced and some of those seem to re-occur "especially" after updates from Apple. Can someone tell me why Apple would allow these issues to continually manifest. It makes me feel like im Beta testing "poorly written code" which is the reason I moved away from Microsoft Windows not to mention its taken the fun out of using my ATV2. I've been on the phone with TS and they have run me through the different options. The failing is the lack of control settings within the ATV and TS in the end just offered me "Polite Lip Service". Their is no "Automated" reconnection for movies on "drop out" and Screensaver is an issue, nor is there any "Buffer Setting" to control poor streaming issues. My solution after days of pulling my hair out was to load movies into TC, reference file on HD, Hd Wire "everything"  Tc to ATV2 (Must) and then connect that to the Modem Router. Turn off Screen Saver of course and any other programs that may interfere. Checking console MAY shed light on the problem. & Gd Luck with the next updates.....

  • My apple Tv has audio problems when streaming from my NAS server.

My Apple TV has audio problems when streaming from my NAS server or computer and even internet. I can hear the click sound it makes when you click on the icons, but when the movie starts there is no audio. This even happens when using XBMC. I have HMDI directly to my TV suing Apple TV 2. I have tried resetting, turning off both TV and Apple TV, and changing the HDMI cable. It is driving me nuts.

XMBC requires a hack, we cannot help with hacked devices.

    Hi folks,
i have an apple IPhone4. I am experiencing certain problem with my iphone4. The problems are as follows a. my ear piece and proximity sensor is not working while making a call. 2. It cannot reproduce sound without earphone but rings normally if gets any call.
Can any one help me in this regard??

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches after installing new software or apps.

  • MacBook-Apple TV Streaming Problems

    Hi All
I seem to have problems streaming from my MacBook Pro to Apple TV. When streaming Youtube videos from MacBook to Apple TV, the video and sound start breaking out (constant short half-second pauses).
However, I have no such problems with streaming videos to Apple TV from iPad or iPhone. When viewing Youtube videos from my MacBook (without streaming) or through Apple TV by directly accessing Youtube from Apple TV, there are no such problems either. Likewise, there are no problems streaming my iTunes videos from my MacBook to Apple TV.  The software on MacBook and Apple TV is up to date.
Would be very grateful for your advice on how to fix this problem.
