So this morning I leave the phone ontop of my car....I know stupid thing to do. As I get out on the the main road I hit the gas to get going and i hear it ontop of the car and see it in the rearview mirror. 3 cars behind me ran it over. As I'm standing on the side of the road looking at what just happened I'm thinking to myself....*** I don't have the money to buy another I'm lucky I got this one. As I grab the phone its ringing away. I have used every app, phone call, email and itunes. Everything works, the only thing is that the free cover I got is alittle beat up. I LOVE THIS PHONE AND WILL NEVER WORRY ABOUT IT AGAIN.

Iphone4 connection with car bluetooth!!!

I just got an iphone 4 and can't get connected to bluetooth in my car. It says it's not compatable. My last phone worked fine so I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Suggestion for accessory to use Iphone4 bluetooth in car.

I would like to know what to buy to be able to use my Iphone 4 handsfree in our vehicle via bluetooth. The device has to be powered via a 12V plug in the car.

I use a Motorola T305 hands free device that clips to the sunvisor. I've never had any problems with it. It uses a rechargable battery that comes with a 12v charger that fits in the cars auxillary (lighter) port. There are many more options out there, so I'm sure someone else will post their own suggestion.

Iphone contacts "not available" to car phonebook after messing around with Outlook.pst file names and backups. Iphone4 connects to car though and other phones connect properly.

I substituted a much smaller new Personal Folder -Contacts File, with a smaller list of phone numbers (4 only as a test) which successfully synced to the iPhone 4. The iPhone connects to the Skoda Octavia HandsFreeSystem OK (Bluetooth works fine), but now iPhone wont load the new Contacts as it did originally. However a family Nokia (never messed with) can connect properly. So must be the iPhone or more likely an Outlook.pst \ Contacts problem. Ideas?

After fiddling a little more, the following fixed my corrupted outlook.pst file:
1) I made a backup
2) In outlook under file, I exported the calendar to excel
3) In outlook under file, I imported the calendar back to outlook
And voila, it worked.

If you have an auxiliary jack on the car's stereo you can get a 1/8 to 1/8 ft. audio cable. Or an FM transmitter or a casette adapter if your car has a casette player.

I had purchased iPhone4s with Apple care+. Unfortunately the unit malfunctioned. I did contact the genius bar and they give me the new iPhone4s. The problem is that the Apple care+ attached to the old one does not pass to the new one. Any suggestion on how to do so?

I had contacted the Apple Store where I did the replacement. The answer I got from the genius bar staff overthere is that "I don't see any problem. All you have to do is wait. It should automatically change within a week or so". I just wonder if it has to take that long.

Static/Interference while using iphone4 in car

I get popcorn static and interference when using the iphone4 in my car. As soon as I turn the engine off it goes away and the phone is just fine. I have read that there are issues with JVC stereos and as it happens my car stereo is a JVC. Has anyone else had similar issues when using the phone while the engine is running?

Ok gang, me and a friend have done some testing. Speaking only for myself here, this is what we found. The rapid popping interference goes away when using the phone in speakerphone mode (try it! Does this work for you too?). Perhaps there is some kind of problem between the earpiece speaker and the microphone, versus the connection between the speakerphone speaker and microphone.
Also worth noting -- plugging the phone into a factory integrated style iPod cable or 12v outlet charger does not fix the problem. The static is still present.
The problem still exists while sitting in the car with the ignition switch on, but the engine NOT running.
Any thoughts? Could there be a poorly shielded ECU somewhere in car? Could the new, more powerful processor in the phone be more prone to picking up interference? /brainstorming

Another way to find your iPhone:
1) all phones include iPhone have ICID (or how it named)
2) all phones have IMEI
You can try to go to your Carrier and ask them to provide you with information of device which using this IMEI (you can find it in backups or on box of iPhone), they can say you where your phone last attempts to connect to their stations, and then you can try to find your iPhone in location that carrier can provide to you

Sync Ford to iphone4

I am able to connect my iphone4 to my car, but having trouble pairing. The only way I am able to place calls is manually. My car setup gives a 6 digit pairing #, but I am unable to find a place to enter this on the iphone. It then reads pairing failed.

Ok. I got it to work no problem. Here's what happened.
I had paired my phone without any trouble, but couldn't download the phonebook. After signing into the Syncmyride site I could see which sync software I was running. I needed to upgrade. For some reason I couldn't download the new software. It was crashing Safari. After clearing my cache in Safari I downloaded it no problem. plugged it into the car and uploaded it without problem.
then I did a master reset on my sync, clearing everything. I paired my iphone with sync again and it added the phonebook with no problem.

Ok, I have read discussions in the Support Communities, looked on iTunes Help and I think my brain is going to explode. I need a simple (for dummies) tutorial on how to create a smart playlist with 'conditions' and Live Updating. For example: instead of going through my Library music list and unchecking all my Christmas music and all my Comedy stuff so it won't play year round and at innapropriate times and having to skip them manually when playing on my ipod touch or my iphone4 in my car or through headphones or home sharing and using my AppleTV.
Also, if my comedy is individually all unchecked (in my iTunes Library), and I have a regular playlist in my ipod and one in my iphone (titled Comedy), when I go to the playlist list in my ipod or phone (when not connected to my Mac), and select shuffle: will that playlist play all the way through even though they are all unchecked?
AND, if I have 'sync only checked songs and video' box UNCHECKED in my summary page for a device what exactly does that do? Or more precisely, WHY would I want or not want that box to be checked?
I really hope someone can help me as I am a complete idiot when it comes to understanding long explanations.

If the box is unchecked, it won't do anything. It will sync everything.
If it is checked, songs that are unchecked will nto get sync'd to the iPod.

Select all the Christmas stuff, right click - get info.
Set the sure the Genre is Christmas.
Go to the Info tab and set Skip when Shuffling to Yes.
Do the same for Comedy.
Create a new smart playlist (named My Music or something similar).
Match all rules;
Genre is not Christmas.
Genre is not Comedy.
Play this playlist on the iPod/iTunes to listen to everything except Christmas & Comedy.
Or if you have Shuffle turned on, just listen to anything and Christmas & Comedy will get skipped.

It depends.
In iTunes, unchecked items will get skipped.
If unchecekd items get sync'd to the iPod (you do NOT have Sync only cheked items ticked), they will play unless you have them set to Skip when shuffling.

This means you chose to transfer the backup for the other iPhone to your second iPhone the first time you connected the second iPhone to iTunes on the computer being used to sync with the other iPhone.
This did exactly as you selected. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are not touched when syncing and are not touched the first time a new iPhone is connected to iTunes and choosing to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone. When choosing to transfer the backup for another iPhone to the new iPhone, the Camera Roll contents for the other iPhone replace the Camera Roll contents on the new iPhone.
Unless you imported the photos from the Camera Roll as designed and intended, the photos are gone.

When you buy an iPhone in the U.S. it's locked to that country with the carrier you bought it for.
If you bought the device unlocked in the U.S. it's unlocked, you can use it on any carrier. Even one's outside the country.
If you want to do a repair on a device you bought in the U.S. and your using it in another country, you must send it back to the U.S. Why? That's where you bought it from.
AppleCare Protection Plans and AppleCare Limited Warranties are registered to your hardware.
Your hardware is your iPhone.
Wherever hardware that was bought then that's the country it was designed to be used in and that's where it was manufactured.
Apple is very localized - if you call U.S. tech support, you'll speak to somone in your country.
So, what does all this mean?
In order to do a repair, you need to send it back to the country you got it from.
And we're all customers like you. We understand that you're upset, but Apple isn't gonna bend the rules to one individual.

It seems that if the bluetooth works well (pairs) with the car for the telephone, the music would also work. It did work well before the upgrade to 7.4. Perhaps I need to start over with setting up the bluetooth system in the car ?
