Iphone4 with IOS6 uses lots of internet data

Hi everybody,
my iPhone4 after IOS6 installation, waste a lot of internet data, even if i close all the applications.
In the last 2 months i went over my internet data limit, and i had to pay for the extra data.
Obviously, also battery life has dramatically changed...
I read that is ad issue related to a bug in iCloud.
Did anybody experience the same problem ?

Vegas,
Push notifications aren't active, they listen on an open connection, they don't poll/ping the server like you're saying...
Here's what goes on behind the scenes:
The server will initiates a connection to the phone through the registration system by Apple or a Certified Push Hub.
Hey iPhone, I have a notification and iMessage for you.
iPhone says, cool! Send it!
*recieved* Yay! thanks!

I guess I will wrap this up. I have abandoned iPhoto and viewing my Photo Streams using it and moved to Adobe products (Bridge + PS). So that's that.

  • HT201617 does downloading from itunes use my home internet data??

does downloading from itunes use my home internet data??
in other words, does it contribute to my download limit?

All transactions through the home internet (be it your wi-fi base, or wired Ethernet) would be
the same total on the monthly limits for that service. However the costs for downloads via
your home network and ISP, may be less than using a cellular network and data rate/limits.
Depending on what the product is, in use for these iTunes downloads. An iPad, iPod, or
iPhone that can be set to use wi-fi from non-cellular sources, gives you an option, so it
could be used to go online with those, anywhere; including free sources instead of one
    of the cellular plan giants.
So I am not sure what other parameters your question is meant to address.
Could you clarify the situation a little better, to specify if only an ISP is the
main or only source of internet, or if there's some other device involved..?
I know that if I stream or run a live music feed from the iTunes player and just listen to any
free channels for hours on end, it would certainly run my internet into overage - and it may
prompt the service provider to limit my bandwidth as part of a penalty in addition to adding
extra charges per GB over a set limit, that I'm over. There is that ceiling...
However, if you have a supposedly "unlimited" account, there may also be ways a provider
could go further to make it harder for you to keep using it as 'unlimited' since their side may
see those as potential money-losers. To have streaming video over internet would really be
a quick way to use any limits and likely garner significant penalties.
The wording in your home or cellular services is probably subject to change so be sure
to read your agreements and see how anything new may affect you or what you pay...
    Good luck & happy computing!

I would like to know how i can create a bell graph with out using sub VIs, the data that i created consists in 500 readings with values of 0 to 100, i calculated the mean value and standard diviation. I hope some one can help me

Here's a quick example I threw together that generates a sort-of-bell-curve shaped data distribution, then performs the binning and plotting.

  • Weather Channel App. Uses lots of background data

The Weather Channel app uses alot of background data, if I restrict background data, it says it may cause an app to stop working when only mobile available.  Does anyone know of another weather app that would not use up so much data? Or is there a setting on the weather app itself that would help use less data?

I had the same problem. I switched to the "Go weather" app. it takes up less ram while running in the backround and it gives you the option to choose how often it will update the weather. Most weather apps will update every 10-15 minutes and so that will eat your data. this allows you to update manually whenever you check the weather so it doesn't use your data much, if at all. Hope that helps

  • HT4413 Does Migration Assistant use a lot of internet data?

We're on a set limit and don't want to exceed it..
Anyone with prior experience would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Migration Assistant doesn't use Internet. If you want to use Migration Assistant via Wi-Fi or Ethernet, Migration Assistant uses the router to migrate data to the other Mac that has to be connected to the same router

  • Can you sync/ restore an iPhone 5 with ios6 using backup data from an iPod touch 4g running ios5?

Ok! So I've preordered my first iPhone ever, the iPhone 5. I will finally be letting my iPod touch go!
I've synced my iPod touch 4g to iTunes so that once I receive the iPhone, I can plug it in and restore and sync all my purchased apps, etc. However, the iPod touch is on ios 5. I do not plan to update and back it up on ios6. Will there be any issues. When I try to restore my iPhone 5 on iOS 6 using data from a iPod touch 4g that ran ios5?

It should be fine.  I restored my new iPod Touch from the backup of my iPad.  You will have to reenter keychain items like passowords since keychain items only restore back to the same device unless you use an encrypted backup.  The iOS of the target device (phone for you) has to be at lest as great as that of the source device.

  • Volume limit on iphone4 with IOS6

I followed the steps to set up volume limit, but it still doesn't work. Am i missing something
    1. Music > Volume Limit > Adjust volume and set on
    2. Restrictions > Set Code> Volume limit > Don't Allow Changes
So far this hasn't worked for any of my iOS 6 devices.

Turns out volume limit only works for headphones. I wanted to restrict the volume on the speaker.

  • Does Time Machine Backup Use Internet Data?

Quite simply, If I have a external hard drive plugged into an airport extreme and am connecting to it wirelessley, do back ups use up my internet data?

No.  It is a local subnet connection between your Mac and the Airport Extreme.  You Mac finds the Airport Extreme using the Bonjour protocol that will not cross a subnet boundary, so the only way your Mac can find the Airport Extreme attached storage is if it is in the same subnet as your Mac.
The exception is if you are using Back-to-My-Mac to tunnel Bonjour across the internet to a remote Airport Extreme/TimeCapsule.  But you would know if you were doing that.
Or if you were using a VPN package to make 2 subnets separated by the internet look like the same subnet.  Again you would know if you had setup a VPN between subnets across the internet.

  • Can you make the download of 50mb to unlimited when I bought a sim that has unlimited internet data?

Can you please do it when it's so frustrating when I don't have wifi to download it and my friends doesn't let me use it because they don't have a lot have a lot of Internet data in his data modern. Some people don't have wifi to download a high graphic game and bought a iTunes card to buy it but they deny it because it says
Unable to download because it exceed the download limited 50MB

This doesn't matter. The app store will not let you download apps that are larger than a certain size over cellular. You have to use wifi.

  • Ejecting internet data card

I am using now an internet data card which I have to plug into one of the USB ports. An icon on the desktop appears after I plug it in, but it disappears as soon as the app is launched. After the net session is over I quit the app. No icon is there on the desktop for me to eject. so I just have to unplug the data card. No error message or warning appears when I unplug.
Earlier I had another data card and its icon used stay on the desktop all through the net session. After quitting I used to eject the device by right-clicking on the icon before unpluging it from the port.
With the new data card now, is there any possibility of damage either to the data card or the Mac if I continue to unplug without ejecting? Or, is there some way to eject the device?

I assume you are using wireless modems that you plug into the USB port for Internet acess
I do not think you have a problem.  I have two with different service providers.  One requires installation of operating software and if I take it out I get the Apple error message.  The other one does not have any software an I can put it in or take out of the USP port with no protests from the MBP.
You are not going to damage the MBP or the device.
    Ciao.

  • Selecting records from DB table with out using internal tables

    hi,
i need to retrieve values from a database table based on few fields and date as well. however, i need to check whether the date is less or equal to the current date and along with that i should get the appropriate record. how can i do that with out using internal table.
    field1-----date---
    11111----
    20070219
    11111--20070214 <---
    11111----
    20070205
in the above scenario i should get the second record
    Regards,
    Kranthi.

    Try:
    REPORT ztest MESSAGE-ID 00.
    TABLES bkpf.
    SELECT * FROM bkpf
      UP TO 1 ROWS
      WHERE budat <= sy-datum
      ORDER BY budat DESCENDING.
    ENDSELECT.

  • Can't stand it anymore, app transferring so internet data consuming!?

I just wanna say WHAT THE F when I saw I've used 4 Gigabytes internet data after doing these:
    1. RESTORING MY F-ING IPOD
    2. INSTALLING INFINITY BLADE II AND SOME OTHER APPS
    3. SYNCED 2Gs OF SONGS
I've only got 60Gs of data a month, and apple just took like 4Gs, that's a lotttt!!!
I've already disabled iCloud and the other stuff that requires internet access.
But I dunno how to disable this sucky thing, can anyone tell me how? :S
    Thankssss!!

    - Restoring requires that the computer have the latest update file.  That is about 700 MB.  If you restore again before the next update you will not have to redownload the update again.
    - Infinity Blade II is 940 MB
    - Other apps will also use data for download. I do not know if the apps also use data for playing them.
The usage sounds normal.  Just do not purchase that many apps and othr things.
