IPhone4 won't update to 5.1... help.

I have a iphone 4 and I am trying to update to the new 5.1 software. I plug it into itunes and let it sync. then i click on update and then a little box pops up and says "Contacting the iPhone Software Update Server..." and has a little bar below it. nothing happens after that. It's stays in the "thinking" mode for hours if i leave it. This is happening on my iPad 2 and my iPhone.
I'm attempting this on a mac with all the latest software.

I am sure I have seen the solution for this a few time on this forum...

My iphone4 won't update to 4.3

My iPhone4 is Verizon, website says most recent software should be 4.3 Even for Verizon phones) my current version is 4.2.1. When I connect to itunes and click on check for update it says "This version of iPhone software (4.2.10)is the current version. I started looking for update when I couldn't turn on automatic downloads in my settings.
Please help, any advice is appreciated.

4.2.6 is the lateset for Verizon I believe. There is no 4.3 for Verizon.

Lion Mail will not open, and won't update the database. Help??

When I try to open mail, for the first time says it needs to update my database, It seems to start then crashes. Is there a fix?

I got my iPhone 4S at the end of July so it is fairly new. I have updated a couple of apps before and it was fine, but within the past couple of weeks my apps are having trouble updating, whenever I click 'Update All' it asks me to enter my Apple ID then the bar shows up on the app for a couple of seconds then disappears then it just starts all over again.
I would like to avoid doing a factory reset.
I've searched all over the internet to try and sort this, and I don't know what else I can try.
I have tried:
Turning my phone off/on several times
Signing out of the App Store then back in again several times
Syncing my phone to my laptop and updating them through iTunes (on iTunes it just says that there are no apps that need to be updated)
Done a reset
Turned the date forward then back again
Would be so grateful if someone had some answers and could help me out- this is so annoying, it's taking over my life!:(

same problem with Lumia 620. Issue started right after an automatic SW upgrade. Problem happens both in celular and WiFi connections. Soft reset / hard reset didn't solve the issue either.
Current OS version (after reset) is 8.0.10517.150
progress in the phone when trying to download and install and app looks like the download ends ok but the installation can't be completed. Problem happens with ANY app from the store, not only Nokia ones.
message: "We're having trouble installing this app. Tap and hold the item, then tap Retry..." No error code presented.
please let me know any suggestion. I'm running out of ideas down here...

Weird Album Art Cover Bahavior - won't update a few albums - HELP.

I have a weird issue that keeps coming up. I have 7.3 loaded - same thing used to happen on all other versions and it's really bugging me.
I have album art for all of my albums now except 2. One is Boards of Canada and another is Paul McCartney. When I tell iTunes to look for album art - it says it's not available. Fine - so I go to "get info" for a track, go to the art tab, hit add and add in the album art I've downloaded - it will then show in the lower left pane for "now playing" - but it won't show as the main album cover in cover flow.
I've tried deleting the entire album, adding it back in - updating album art for the whole album or track at a time, no go - no matter what I do I can't get it to show.
Sometimes during this process - it will also lock up my pc and I'll have to re-boot too.
Any ideas?

Select all tracks in the album. Drag and drop the desired image file directly on the "Drag Album Art Here" box in the lower left corner of the main iTunes window.
Note: To avoid a clutter problem, you first should select all tracks on the album, right-click, select Get Info, and check the box next to the (hopefully empty) Artwork box and then click OK. As long as the Artwork box is/was empty, this will clear out all the old artwork before you add the art following the simple instructions in the first paragraph above.

Does the application appear in the Purchases pages? Are you logged into the store with the Apple ID that was used to purchase it?

This is driving me nuts! I have my phone plugged into my MacBook, and iTunes is open. It just synced my phone, and I am on the iPhone iTunes screen, in the area where it gives you the option to check for updates to update your iOS software, and the button below to restore for issues. Everytime I push the update button, it says contacting iphone update services, then it says "your itunes software is up to date" when I am not even trying to update my itunes, I am trying to update my phone-and right there next to the button it says your phone is not up to date, push update to update your phone to iOS 6. This problem makes no sense to me, I already restarted my computer-and it still is giving me the same issue. What kind of glitch is this and how on earth do I get around it? Not only is it frustrating enough that my hotspot only allows OTHERS to have WiFi and my phone won't download over the wifi because I am only a provider of WiFi and it won't consider my phone on WiFi. My boyfriend updated his phone through my hotspot, and my only option is to connect to my computer. My iPhone is driving me nuts!!!

I have the latest version of itunes(at least it says its up to date with 10.6.1(7) when I check), and my itunes keeps telling me that everytime I try to update my iphone. For some reason everytime I try to update to ios 6, it thinks im updating my itunes. When I am clearly in the iphone section of itunes and my phone is plugged in. This is how I updated my iphone last time with ios 5, since having a hotspot does not mean you have wifi(which is another major pet peeve I have with iphone)... It is just a weird glitch and I am so annoyed w it. There seems to be no fix. I wish I had freakin' wifi, oh wait I do, I wish iphones didn't suck so much with there stupid hotspots. grrr...

IPod recognized on Mac computer but won't update!!! HELP!

I recently changed my computer from a Windows to a Macbook, and when I plug in my ipod it recognizes it on ITunes, and it comes up and everything, but then when I click "Update songs on Sarah's ipod" it doesn't do anything! What do I do??

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check the others out and choose whichever you are happy with. Once you have the missing files in iTunes you could restore your iPod on the Mac which will reformat it with the Mac file system and update from your reloaded library.

IPhone4 won't update from 4.1 to 4.3.3.

I have tried and tried and TRIED to update my iPhone but EVERY time, it says the interet connection has timed out. It absolutely will not update. Any suggestions? And I just checked, my iTunes is up-to-date and I use a fairly new MacBook Pro (got in September 2010) and is also up-to-date.

Songs won't update...Please Help!

I have had my WINDOWS XP Home Edition for about 2 years now and I have never had any problem with iTunes before.
But I recently got a Windows XP Professional Edition Laptop (Dell Inspiron E1705) and I hooked my iPod Mini up to it, put all the songs on there and I realized I had to authorize it to that computer which i havent done yet seeing as how it can't hook up to the internet yet. The only way the songs that I have taken form Cd's onto my iPod mini can play is if the iPod is connected. I couldnt play my purchased songs at all until i authorize it.
So I took it off of that computer, and I then downloaded a song off of the Music Store.
I then tried to update my songs from my desktop to the iPod and a message popped up saying "The iPod "Sarina's iPod" cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
Now I then took my ipod, scrolled through my playlists....they are all still there. They do exist. I then looked at my Playlist on the desktop,and they are all there. the same except for the 2 songs i downloaded that couldnt go onto the iPod mini.
I tried restarting my iPod and it still pops up with the same message.
If anyone has any ideas, it would be so appreciated!

while the ipod is connected and showing up in the source list, go "edit > preferences" and click the "ipod" tab.
you will currently have "automatically update selected playlists only" selected. scroll through the list of playlists beneath that, and compare them with the playlists that you have showing up in in your itunes sourcelist.
if you find any that do not appear in your itunes sourcelist, uncheck them.

My iphone4 won't update Contacts when I sync with my Mac

I recently bought an new iphone 4 with a 2 year contract from Verizon. I was told to download the VZ contact transfer app in order to transfer the contacts from my old phone. When I used it, I was surprised that my whole address book downloaded, even though I wasn't connected to my MacBook. Now I've noticed that new contacts and revised Groups are not sync-ing. Does anyone know what might be happening, and how to correct it?

Firefox won't update

Firefox seems to be stuck and won't update. Under the Help menu, it lists "resume downloading Firefox 3.6.3" but when I click on that option, it never resumes the download. (I don't recall pausing downloading in the first place?) Firefox never connects with the update server. As a result of not updating, Firefox is crashing and won't work properly. I restarted and had to force Firefox closed at least 4 times today.

Java Console and Microsoft.net Framework Assistant add-ons are not much needed.

My iphone 4s won't update to ios 6! I tried by my iphone it takes so long updating then it ends saying error!! I tried by using iTunes too, when it's done and installing it says error too!! this got me crazy!! any solution ? please help!

I got instructions to connect my iPhone4 to iTunes. Each time I was prompted to restore the phone, I ended up getting an error message that the iPhone could not be restored. I checked that I had the latest version of iTunes-I did. I tried two more times and got the same error message. I disconnected the usb/phone, closed iTunes, and restarted the computer. This time the restore worked and iOS6 loaded. Unfortunately, the last backup to iCloud that I was told I had was in June. Don't know why this happened as it should have backed up every day. Now I am working through restoring my settings and apps from the last three months. Thankfully, I didn't 'upgrade' my iPad, so I have a template off of which to work. I hope this helps.

Music will not play after ios5 update, it still appears there but will not play...if I select a song, it jumps to another song but will not play anything. Also, if I try to play any of the files on the phone from iTunes they won't play either...help!!
