IPhone4S Interlacing effect(dark horizontal scan lines)

I bought an IPhone4 last year and noticed that I have faint interlacing lines on my screen.I got 2 replaced iphone, both of them have this issues.
Actually, many people found this problem with their iphones.(https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3170657?start=0&tstart=0),it's a widespread issues.
There was no solution untill now.
No interlacing at all is one of the most important reason I look forward the release of iphone4s.Unfortunately,when I bought a new iphone4S last week ,the same boring sacn lines occurs,Although its Not easy to observe, and MUCH BETTER then my last iphone4,but its defintely there,I can also notice it!
If someone want to observed more clearly,Please try to load the image via link below
https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/showImage/2-15835585-24296/293 90947_7087297.jpg
and then save it into your camera roll. if you open it your iphone display will flash/flick very bad .(or when you push the "delete"button)you will notice it easier when you set that image as wallpaper and lock screen.

As the MBP is under warranty I would take it to the dealer/Apple service centre and have it checked.
I hope there is one nearby!

  • Horizontal scan lines on iMac with mirror monitor

Hi, I just bought a second monitor which I'm mirroring, using a DVI cable. Everything looks and works great, but when watching video or iTunes visualisation, I occasionally see scan lines on the iMac display, but not the secondary. Also, dragging stuff around is jumpy and funny.
Here's the info from System Profiler:

  • Horizontal Interlaced Scanning Lines in iDVD6

I can confirm some help I got on this forum for a problem I found between Final Cut and iDVD 6.
I imported my Sony Cam DV into Final Cut Express 2.0.3. I cut the video then exported the video as a self contained QuickTime movie. When I burned a DVD, with iDVD6, it looked like crap.
Every horizontal movement of the camera or subject gave me bad interlaced scan lines tearing the borders of all images. I tried exporting again using the QT settings compression h.264. Again I got the scan lines on all horizontal action. Another coaster!
The problem only went away when I set the video export setting to DVDPRO50-NTSC.
I didn't have this problem before on iDVD3. I guess 6 is new and improved. Ha Ha.

iDVD is always the happiest with DV video that's what it is designed for. A "self contained QuickTime movie" may - or may not - be that format.
    Another coaster!
'Burn' to a disk image first and check the image out with Apple's DVD Player application BEFORE burning the image to writable media with Apple's Disk Utility application. Save your self a disc or two.

  • Scan line write-on effect like this...

I am looking to create a scan-line "write on" effect like this.
Patrick Sheffield originally posted the thread [here|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=634451&#634451].
I downloaded the projects but they didn't do exactly what the movie did.
This is the effect I am after:
    [Scan line Movie|http://www.pistolerapost.com/viewing/analysis1.mov]
    Thanks,,

On the movie, the scanlines come down line by line, whereas in the project file, each line comes on randomly.
Also, on the movie there's a very nice brief glow going from side to side as each line is laid down.
When the scan lines go down they reveal an image. I guess you're using an image mask for that?
I looked for the project file that corresponds to the movie, but I couldn't find it.
There were two in the zip file: scanlinescreen , scanlinetext
^(ps: thanks for the "fun with" series - they've been helpful)^

  • Horizontal Gray Line appearing on my movie (Star Trek Into Darkness)

Hello, I have been looking for a solution to my issue but all I get is references to iMovie and movie impot/export via iMovie.`
    http://gyazo.com/b58cb0236664e7aef5f9561ad8761ec4
This is the issue - on Star Trek Into Darkness - a horizontal gray line appears at the bottom and doesn't go away at what ever resolution I put it at.
    http://gyazo.com/a27fb2cb9e40c9886b71677fd0443716
Alternatively, this is Star Trek and there is no gray line. I legitamtely purchased both of these movies, both Standard Definition (SD) but somehow, Into Darkness is giving me this gray line.
    Solutions?
I've tried updating, restarting, tweaking preferences and so on.
    Thanks,
    -Trace

Jon, I really don't. The only thoughts on audio desync I may have is VirtualDub
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tqDQNqDoGo
Or Adobe Premiere which is probably a more advanced video and audio editing software, but I've never used either one
Okay. Was concentrating more on finding a problem source that might be affecting both QT based apps (QT Player and iTunes) albeit with different problems. My basic assumption here is that the purchased file was correctly created and not corrupted during both download actions and doesn't really have either a video or audio problem. If true, then it is the players that are causing the playback problems and one point of commonality for both would be the QT structure routines shared by each. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain why each player manifests a different symptom for the same file. Was therefore asking if you were familiar with any known installation issues in this area. Also did not know if indiscriminant re-installation of the structure and/or affected apps would create a problem with the active media library under Windows if such action should become necessary. Did not find any reference to similar problems during a spot chack of movie file reviews and/or reported iTunes/QT problems under Windows OS but was hoping you might have come across something in your own experiences. Looks like this issue is a real mystery...

  • Dark "scan lines" across finished movie frame

I'm trying to put together a movie from still photos and recorded audio. It needs to be output in 1024x780 pixel format to match the projector used at a multimedia show. All the images were taken with a 8 megapixel digital camera, and I have used PhotoShop to format them as 1024x780 prior to dropping them into iMovie. Everything looks good in the iMovie timeline editor, however when I compress the finished movie using Expert Settings into the final format, I get thin horizontal black lines across the frame that breaks the image into many thin horizontal bands. I've tried switching to other codecs to see if I can make the problem go away, but anything that can produce the finished movie in something other than standard video format causes the same problem. The only thing that seems to work is letting the program make the movie in standard video format, such as making a .avi file instead of a .mov or a .mp4 out of it, but then I don't have a full-frame image for the projector at the show, which is necessary.
The show producer says this is a generic Mac iMovie issue and he wants me to switch to PhotoPro on an Windows XP machine. Surely this isn't true and there is a fix to this problem.
    Ideas anyone?

Eep, I'm so sorry, I just realised I posted this in the wrong forum.. I don't know how that happened o_o
I'm actually using Adobe Premiere Elements 9 - Is there any way to move this thread or should I just make a new one?  I suppose the questions are still relevant though?
I'm using Procaster from livestream.com to capture videos
    With G-Spot:
The source file doesn't have these lines though
I have no idea how to find the sequence settings but maybe that's because it's a Pro thing rather than an Elements thing?
As from what I can see, because it's sped up, it's actually merging 2 frames (so alternating the lines from each frame?) when I'd rather it just drop one frame

  • IPhone 4s scan lines and other issues?

So I recently bought an iphone off of craigslist in June  (Biggest mistake I've ever made). I met up with the person and the iphone looked pretty fine to me, who's never had an iphone btw, but as soon as I got home I noticed slight lines going across the screen. They were red and blue. They bothered me, but not too much. It effected the back camera more than the front but I said hey I can live with it considering I got the phone really cheap. Well now it's been 3 months since and it's gotten much worse. The scan lines are worse, the screen freezes, then fades to black. Also when I try to use the camera everything goes green and distorted then turna inverted. And when I try to look at pictures they have vertical lines thru them so I cant even make out what it is. If I really want to see a picture I have to screen shot it to get a quick glimpse. Also I noticed the screen freaks out more when there is color. So say I'm on my screen lock and my screen lock is just white, then the horizontal lines arent too bad. But if I go to my home page were all the apps have color, it freaks out. Or when I go on instagram, it completely wigs out and the screen freezes and fades out. I haven't dropped it accept once off the table and cracked the back, but I had this problem before so I know that's not why. I don't know if it has any water damage from the previous owner. The only thing she mentioned was that the screen was cracked. Please if you know what's wrong or have any advice please let me know. Thank you.

The screen needs to be replaced.
You can see if the phone have been in contact with water by looking at the indicators. You'll find dem here: http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/HT3302/HT3302-iphone _4-activated-001-mul.png
If they turn out to be read that indicates that the phone is water damaged.
You should talk to folks at apple to here what they can do to help you out.
    Good lock!

  • Scan lines through transitions

    Hi
I'm really pretty new to video editing, and I confess I have used a canon 5D mk2 to record my video (love it or hate it, it gives me better video than a cheap camcorder) However, I have successfully got a bunch of clips in HD 1080i but when I try and do transitions between the clips I get this odd scan line effect. Anyone seen this or know what I might be doing wrong?

Check your settings... as far as I know the Canon 5D MKII doesn't shoot 1080i, it shoots 1080p. Make sure your settings match the footage... interlaced video will show the scanlines on a computer unless you de-interlace it, but if you're working with the MKII you shouldn't have interlacing at all.

  • Green scan lines on some of my photos...

So i was out hiking and took some selfies.  And some of my photos from my front facing camera has green scan lines on it.  It looks like an effect almost.  But only on some of the photos does it have this on there.  I have no other camera or photo edit apps other than the apple camera.  It stinks too because the only ones with the lines on it were my favorite photos.  Right after taking  the photo nothing seemed out of the ordinary.  The little thumbnail was not green.  But later when i got home to upload them, my 3 best selfies are green.  Like a night vision camera green, with scan lines on it.    Oh I'm on a 4s, iOS 7

They are still there when i deleted the bg, the first appeared when I used free transform to scale an image on another document. I then went to start again on a new page and the blank document had these lines.
So i reset my photoshop settings and it stopped happening to new documents however some of my older documents still had them on.
Also I wasn't using any layer masks or feathers on the document when I first noticed the lines.
    I'm using Adobe cc 2014

  • Vsync Screen Tearing / Scan Line Issue?

This is something I noticed on my iMac after updating to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I noticed a horizontal break in the screen when I was doing any kind of graphic intensive operation. Anything from scrolling up and down on a web page in Safari, to switching screens in Spaces, to bring up my Dashboard or switching users with FUS. By opening a new movie recording in Quicktime X and simply moving the video around, you can clearly see this break is not a random screen tear, but actually some sort of scan line moving from top to bottom in my monitor. I've never seen this prior to Snow Leopard, but I suppose it is possible this is a hardware issue, rather than a software or driver issue. Can anyone else duplicate this on Snow Leopard? I am on a 2007 2.8 Core 2 Extreme iMac with RadeonHD2600 graphics.
I made a video of the issue and posted to youtube if you want to see what I am talking about.

I also get this issue in Snow Leopard when connecting my iMac up to a TV via the apply video adaptor. I didn't get this with Leopard and I don't get this on my iMac display.
I've been through all the video settings I can find (frame rates, display sizes, etc) and each one still has the issue. SL has changed the system preferences for external video so I guess something else may have also changed.

  • FCP 10.1.1, iDVD and hideous scan lines...

    Hey,
I have found that there's a huge difference between output quality between Share --> DVD in FCP X and iDVD.
I'm working with piles of legacy, interlaced, standard def footage from a mini-DV tape camera. (I just bought a shiny, new HD camcorder, but still have all this old, valuable footage to deal with.)
If I use the Share --> DVD module of FCP X, I get amazingly good looking results, especially considering the source material. FCP really seems to know how to massage the video to look its best on a DVD. But today I tried for the first time to burn a DVD in iDVD because I wanted the fancy-schmancy chapter menus that iDVD can produce. I produced a Master Video of my project (which looked great in an actual size window but showed obvious scan lines when played full screen) and then used iDVD to burn it to DVD. The results were hideous: ugly, obvious scan lines everwhere -- the FCP X titles looked especially broken up and horrendous.
Is there a way to get iDVD to output good looking DVD video under these conditions, or do I need to stick with FCP's internal functionality? Or, should I be looking at other DVD burning software? I stopped using Toast a bunch of versions ago because for some mysterious reason, it caused kernel panics on my MacBook Pro, but that was, like, 4 versions ago...
Eager for your expertise, and thank you.

Finally, here are 2 grabs from QuickTime player. First is a title image at rest. Second is part of the same title in motion.

  • SD to HD with pillarboxes--keep getting scan lines

    Hello,
I am attempting to upconvert SD footage to HD, keeping a 4:3 aspect ration to use in a 16:9 timeline. I am attempting to convert it with Compressor, and I successfully get pillarboxes, but I keep getting footage that looks like it has scan lines. I have tried both interlaced and de-interlaced conversions and both come out the same.
My question is, does anyone know the proper settings for converting SD footage to 1920x1080 HD with pillarboxes?
    OR
If I just drop the SD footage into the HD timeline and render it, will I have problems during my export?
What do you do in this scenario?

Thanks! That was my next step. This project is a mess. The editor was editing an HD film in a 4:3 sequence. After conforming things, some of the elements become pixelated, but I imagine that might have to do with the source footage, no?

  • Crashing with horizontal colored lines on screen?

I've been having a serious issue with my MacBook Pro 13" recently. It started as different occasions of randomly crashing, and then progressed into crashing while horizontal colored lines flicker on the screen. The only option to fix this is short term, I will restart my computer only to have the lines show up ten minutes later and then have to restart again. This has been a nightmare for getting any work done, saving files, etc. Sometimes it crashes three times in the span of thirty minutes, and at that point will not even turn on but will instead trigger three beeps to sound, which I know is a sign of bad RAM.
I actually invested in completely new RAM to see if I would fix the problem, upgrading from 8gb to 16gb. No luck, I still had crashing. I also completely erased my hard drive and performed a system restore. Also no luck. The lines and crashing are back.
Has this happened to anyone else before? I'm worried this is an issue that I won't be able to fix, and I'll have to buy a new computer entirely which is super upsetting considering I only bought this Mac last year.
Here's an image of the screen in all it's messed up glory (featuring adventures in online dating):

and I was to lazy to charge it, so i just left it
dead over night. When I woke this problem took
effect. Anyone know what the problem is???
    thnx in advance,
