IPhone5 can access guest network without password

I have just finished setting up the Cisco Valet M20 and tried to access the "guest network" using password. All devices connected to "guest network" were taken to a login screen for a password. All except the iPhone5. The phone was able to have connect wirelessly without having to go to the login screen and enter the guest password. I have tried changing "guest network's" password and resetting the network configuration of my iPhone5, still the same result.  My laptop, iPad and andriod phone did go  through the login screen for password. Is there a fix to this problem?

Since other wireless devices were working thru the guest network as they should, I believe it has something to do with the IPhone5. How about you try this workaround: disable the guest network, turn the M20 off for 10-15 seconds, once you power it back on, access the cisco connect software again and enable the guest network. On your iphone, try to reset the network settings again then try to connect to the guest network.

Was able to create guest network but when I try to access guest network to test it, I cannot connect.  I tried iPad and iPhone.

The Guest Network feature will not function correctly if the AirPort Exteme is configured in Bridge Mode.
But unfortunately, Bridge Mode is the correct setting if you have the AirPort Extreme connected to a modem/router or gateway type of device.
So, is the AirPort Extreme configured in Bridge Mode as illustrated above?
Can you provide the make and model number of the device that you might call your "modem"?

    Hi wonderingtoday,
Yes, you can! If you have Acrobat, you can assign an "Open Password" to the PDF, so that only people who have that password can open the PDF. If you don't have Acrobat, you can try it for free for 30 days. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

You don't have iCloud set up?   There would be a backup there if you enabled it.

My wife passed away last year. I have her Iphone5 but don't have password for her appleid which no longer exists with apple but is on phone and can't reset phone without it. Is there any way to reset phone?

If you have the original purchase receipt, and can provide the death certificate, call AppleCare and discuss the situation with them.  They will likely have you scan and email the receipt and certificate to them, and they may be able to remove the activation lock so you can restore the phone.

  • Access to User without Password

A temporary employee (now gone forever) set up some workfiles on a non networked Mac in their own User - as the administrator can we access the User without the password (which we have buckley's of getting).

Use the "Accounts" System Preference" from the administrator account. Click the lock at the lower-left to unlock it, select the user's account, and change the password. You can also use Get-Info to change ownership or permissions on the user's files and folders if you click the lock icon in the Get-Info window (click the "Details" triangle at the bottom of the window).

  • The user which does not exist can login BI Answers without password

Hi I got an Issue in the BI Answers login.
Any non-exist username can login to the BI answers without password.
And the exist-user need the correct password.
Does anybody have the same issue before?
And also, any non-exist username can login to BI Answers if the password is provided as the same as username, even the user account doesn't exist.
After the non-exist user login, the system would automatilly create this user account.

  • With Timed Access List on, Guest users cannot access Guest network.

I have a ABS with 7.5 version. In the Timed Access window i have default set to "no access". Then, all the computers that are allowed access to the main network are on the list. Then i have the main network hidden. My guest network is broadcasting but when a user tries to connect to it, they get a "Unable to connect". If I change the default access in Timed Access to "Everyday", users are then able to connect to the Guest network again.
Obviously, this is a bug. I don't want people accessing the main network that aren't on the timed access list. However, I still want guest users to access the Guest Network.
It looks to me that the Timed Access window is controlling the restriction of the Guest and Main network, when it should only be controlling the Main only.
Hopefully, apple has noted this issue and will be fixed on the new update. If other people are experiencing this problem, Please let me know.
    -Ghost

Apple just updated the airport to 7.5.1. But there is still a problem with the the guest network not allowing access. If the "Unlimited" is set to "No Access" in the access list it prevents anybody from accessing the guest network. It should only deny your Main wireless Network.
In other words, the Access List is controlling the access for both wireless networks(Guest and Main network)
Either apple needs to create two Access Lists, One for Main network, and One for guest network. Or just have to option to choose which Network you want to restrict leaving the second one open for all.

  • I have 1800 songs on my Itunes library that were purchased by me but under my ex-girlfriends Email address, so I can't sync them to my Ipod.  Is there any way I can access those songs without her password?

    Can anyone offer any advice?

The songs belong to the owner of the itunes account from which they were purchased.
Your computer would have to be authorized to her account.

  • Can access domain network resources while logged on as a local administrator on a workstation.

Please help me in figuring this one out.
I have a Server 2003 R2 domain with a bunch of workstations and some servers having the same local admin password.
I know it is not good practice, but that's an issue of it's own.
The issue is that when I log on as that local admin (WORKSTATION\Administrator) I can suddenly browse to ALL the hidden shares(c$, d$) of ALL the servers and workstations that have the same local admin password. If I change password or disable that account
the symptom goes away.  I though if I do try accessing hidden shares it should still ask me for credentials, after all these are local credentials on DIFFERENT machines. I checked to make sure that the credentials are not cached and as far as I can tell
they are not. This really freaks me out.
This is kind of a big deal because even if I change local passwords on servers, I'm not sure we will be setting up different local Administrator password for each workstation.
My question is: Is this the a normal/documented Windows behavior? If not why is this happening? Can someone please explain how is this possible?

Yes, this is the default behavior for workgroup machines - this is so-called pass-through authentication of the NTLM protocol. You can lock down the usage of NTLM with policies.
I have accidentally just tested pass-through authentication as I am working on a solution that involves a bunch of servers that are not in a domain. Without this sort of authentication you could not do authentication easily against another machine in such
    an environment.
Admin power is limited though: Even if the user in question is admin on both machines and you try to remotely reset a password in an admin cmd session (e.g. using pspasswd) it will fail because of UAC per default - unless you tweaked UAC or related registry
    keys.
I tried to find some official documentation: In
this book (hope it works - link to page via Google books) on Windows security pass-through is explicitly mentioned as the method used in a workgroup environment, this
MS support article explains NTLM passthrough authn in a domain environment.
I have seen some articles that say that NTLM is locked down per default on newer OS - but I can confirm if works if e.g. connecting from a W2K8 R2 server to a Windows 7 machine (both workgroup machines, no domain policies applied).

  • IPTV 3.4 Allow access to content without password

Well 3.4 has made up the problems with lack of security in 3.2 only to make it essentially that now enter a password while accessing the server.
My problem is I want web pages using the plugin to access the sdp files from the download directory without requiring a password as in 3.2 while still maintaning security on the content server configuration. HELP ! What have other done ?
There is nothing written about configuring apache on CCO
Desperate for Help and Advice !
    Simon

Duane - Did you ever get this resolved? If not the fix is to modify the cgi block in the httpd.conf file on the Apache server. This will allow you to restrict access to the server config files on the Content Manager but not require the users to know the admin username/password. Let me know if you need more assistance.
    Thank you,

  • Is a guest network with password the best choice for tenants?

My mom bought a new Airport Extreme 802.11n to use when she switches from AT&T to Time Warner. Everyone uses PCs. I'm assuming that allowing my mom's tenants access as guests will keep them out of my mom's network.
However, are there security problems associated with the tenants using the network to gain access to one another's computers?
Also, my mom paid her computer guy to set up her AT&T router. Is this necessary for setting up the Airport Extreme with reasonable security?

  • Grey startup screen on my profile, but I can access guest profile and my hardrive partition to windows?!?! I had a kernal panic after it was knocked off coffee table in my user account, now I cannot access it from safe mode or anything... :(

My laptop fell off the coffee table, and slammed shut. It then produced a kernal Panic to restart, which I did. It the brings up the user icons, mine and guest, but will not go past the grey screen with spinner on mine. It does let me into the basic safari setting I had on the guest user, AND when i press option on start up, will let me access the windows partition I have set up and all works fine.
I have tried safe mode, safe mode with display screen and the NVRAM/PRAM restarts, and nothing!
I have let the battery run completely, restarted, filled up the battery before starting.... everything.... anybody have any ideas? else I am going to have to visit a genius! grrrrrrr....
    Thanks in advance!

Looks like that is what you are going to end up doing.  No telling what was damaged internally.

  • PC Still Can Access Network without Joining AD in ISE Environment

    Hi Folks,
I'm new to ISE and I have a problem about access control with ISE and here's my situation:
The wired 802.1X is deployed with windows AD using ISE. For now, Clients joined the domain can access the network well, however, for computers which havn't joined the domain can also access the network if the users know their account of the domain. They can start the 802.1X service by themselves and configure the network card properly, connect the network cable, when the windows dialog pops up, the user can enter the username starts with the domain like "mydomain\username"(mydomain is the domain name) and the passowrd, then the computer can gain the access just like it had joined the domain. So I think there may be some mistakes with my Authentication and Authorization Policy.
My authentication policy is configured like this:
the ChinaPnR-ISE is the AD name
My authorization policy is configured like this:
I'm wondering if I can add one condition to math the hostnames of the windows as computers which had joined have the unified format?
    Thanks!

It didn't really work for me.
I managed to set up the AEBS better now, but still no true networking.
I can access the USB HDD from the iMac that is connected via the WAN port on the AEBS. But it's not mounted.
I started up my old iMac, and connected to my network. Interestingly, if I search through the folders in the network link of my old iMac, I find the USB HDD and can actually access it!
The old iMac also sees my netbook (identified by brand and MAC address, which I recognise and is correct for the netbook).
When trying to access that netbook, it asks for a workgroup, a user name and a password. No idea why and what those may be. I assume I have to set those up on my netbook?
Then when trying to do software updates on the old iMac, it does not seem to be able to connect, whilst I have safari open and running fine on the same machine at the same time, what's up with that???
In the mean time my new iMac does NOT see the netbook or the old iMac. I wonder why that is?

  • How can I have different access control for the guest network (different than the main network)?

I am trying to control my main wireless network with access control via mac id with no password. I wanted a separate guest network with password access and no access control. However, the only way that the guest network works is if I specify unlimited access as the default. Is what I am trying to do possible.

I am trying to control my main wireless network with access control via mac id with no password.
Definitely not a recommended method for security. MAC addresses are easily cloned by anyone who wants to do so with free tools available on the Internet. An unwanted guest will be on your network in less than a minute if they want to be.
Strongly recommend that you use WPA2 Personal security with a non-dictionary password to protect your network.
I wanted a separate guest network with password access and no access control. However, the only way that the guest network works is if I specify unlimited access as the default. Is what I am trying to do possible.
Unfortunately, Apple does not allow separate Access Control for the "main" and "guest" networks. It's all or nothing, I am afraid.
Likely, the  "best" way to set up Access Control is change the default rule to No Access, Then you will need to enter in the details for every device that you want to allow to connect for both the "main" and "guest" networks with the time limits for each device.
