IPhone5: Downgrade to iOS 7.0.0 from 7.0.2?

Ohhh, to add insult to injury (i.e., not lovin' iOS 7) today's iOS7.0.2 upgrade includes a change Apple considers unworthy of mentioning to the thousands who still prefer iTunes10: iOS 7 now requires iTunes 11.1 or later. However, for all those clamoring for the Greek keyboard option for passcode entry, they've kindly considered you!
I have a 10-day-old iPhone 5 (a replacement for a previous one with a display problem) that I just spent days restoring, updating, downloading, and slogging through the tortuous iCloud-iTunes-WiFi syncing quagmire in an effort to finally achieve successful syncing. And it was working!! (No small feat, as anyone who's suffered inexplicable syncing sinkholes knows.) Then today I get a notification to upgrade to 7.0.2, with the above explanation. Sure, I'd like that Lock screen bug fixed, and so I hit "install."
Install is successful. Phone restarts, seems fine, but surprisingly, Mail begins to download hundreds of previously read and/or deleted emails from the last several months, indicating that they're all unread. Oh joy! So annoying, and time-consuming (the "Mark All as Read" option doesn't actually mark all of them, nevermind even trying to re-delete the previously deleted) — but not dire. At least my calendars & contacts appear unharmed. Phew. (And thank God I only access one e-mail account via my phone.)
And then tonight I opened iTunes to manually sync my calendars, just like I did last night, but surprise! I can't. Why? Because iOS 7.0.2 doesn't work with iTunes10. Now they're telling me? OMG. Now I have a headache. Not only can I not sync, I can't even use/access the phone.
I know there will be comments about syncing through iCloud or just simply using iTunes11, but neither of those options are optimal for me. In short, iCloud is an unreliable fiasco (esp with calendars, contacts), and was the source of many problems and subsequent hours and parts of days lost trying to fix those problems. And re iTunes11, I tried it last year, hated it, and promptly reverted to 10. I know I'm not alone. In fact, I'm fairly certain there are far more iCloud-avoiding, manual-syncing iTunes10-using iPhoners out there than there are Greek-passcode-enterers. But, I digress....
So, here's the question: Does anybody know if it's possible to revert to iOS 7.0.0? Would restoring from last night's (pre 7.0.2) backup do it?
Thanks for any help!

Wow, Ssschmidt! Were you just eagerly awaiting a post to reply to? :-)  Well, lucky me — thank you so much for your speedy and helpful reply.
Re iTunes 11, because it was quite some time ago, I can't remember the exact deal-breaker for me, but I do know it was more than cosmetic. I think it was some fundamental function/s that I use that they dropped, maybe having to do with organizing, sorting, or display of info. I remember that it also really screwed up something outside of iTunes, but can't recall what that was. One thing I am certain of is that I reallllly didn't like it and have been a happy camper ever since ditching it. I am an "advanced" Mac user (since 1987) and I understand OS and application changes, and I don't think I've downgraded any other time. Anyway, that's where I'm coming from.
Thanks for the reminder to leave a comment for Apple. I'll take your word for it that they do read the suggestions. But do they care??? :-)
Thanks again, much appreciated!

There is no downgrade to a prior version of iOS by any Apple-sanctioned method.

can i downgrade to ios 7.1.2 from 8.1.1???

No, it's not illegal, but you won't be able to do it because Apple stop signing the old software about 2 to 3 days after a new version is released and if you try to do this, all you get is error messages, so it really is not possible to do it.
Although, not illegal, downgrading will void your warranty and it amounts to the same as jailbreaking, hacking.

  • DOWNGRADE TO IOS 6.1.3 FROM 7.0.2

I'm hearing for those that don't like/can't get on with iOS7 that Apple are ALLOWING you to roll back (aka 'Downgrade') the OS to iOS 6 for a short period.
I installed iOS 7, then the update iOS 7.0.2 but quite honestly HATE it, so would like to revert to iOS 6
How do I do this please?

    Sai,
Most of the problems that come up after upgrading to iOS 7 are incompatibility issues. That is not all settings from the iOS 6 are compatible w/ iOS 7 and the resolution is quite simple.
Settings > General > Reset All Settings
This will not erase any of you personal data. This step in my case and many other's seems to be the fix for many issues that appear after upgrading to iOS 7.
    Hopt this helps.

There is a new FB app update released today. That may contain the fix for the problem you're experiencing. If it the problem remains, wait 2 weeks to get another update. Facebook releases an app update every 2 weeks.

Check out the user manuals on Apple site - all OS08 available in multiple languages etc.   Looking at one of them - they don't say what is changed - so you would have to do that yourself -- also check your settings - on Mac upgrades or updates Apple sometimes resets some of the settings to default.

There has never been a legit way to downgrade.
It will always restore to the latest available software.

7.1.1 is certainly compatible with the iPhone 4. Just try a reset first.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • HT1414 Is there any way i could restore from the backup of a new IOS software? I had to manually restore my iphone 3 and had to downgrade the IOS Software.

I backuped my iphone 3 when it had a higher IOS software. After i restored my Iphone, i eneded up having to downgrade the IOS software in order for it to fully restore. Now when i try to back up my phone, it says that my iphone is too old for the backup. If i DO upgrade the IOS, i won't be able to use my phone because it becomes too slow and wont even fully restore.
    Thanks

If your phone is in recovery mode (You see the iTunes graphic on the phone), you MUST connect the device to a computer and restore the operating system.  There is no supported way to get around it.  The device had a problem installing the update and it crashed.  Sorry.
