  • "homemade" tones not liked by iTunes on new computer

I am not sure which forum this needs to go in, but since it is a question regarding ringtones downloaded to iTunes, I figured I would start here.
So anyway, here’s my situation (Hang with me here - I am big on details, especially when it comes to help forums; my problem isn’t exactly
stated until paragraphs 3-6): I downloaded 4 ringtones to my iTunes; One of them I purchased, and three others are sounds from DVDs that I used the QuickVoice2Text Pro app on my iPhone to record (I have an iPhone 5 version 6.1.3), upload to my computer using the QuickVoice PC software, and then did some tweaking through another software program in order to download them into iTunes and make them into ringtones. Since doing that, the Dell Inspiron with a Windows 7 OS that I had originally downloaded the 4 ringtones onto cracked its screen. Therefore, since I cannot live without my computer (even though the computer itself was not damaged, but it is 2 ½ years old and could crash at any moment), I went out and bought a new Lenovo with a Windows 8.1 OS.
After installing iTunes version 11.3.0.54 for Windows on my new computer, I was able to transfer all of my music over from my old computer to my new one using my iPod Touch (Plus some help from my dad). While I was syncing my music, I also ended up synced all of the apps from both my iPhone and iPod touch (because of the settings on theiTunes on my Dell, my iPod Touch automatically downloaded all of the apps that I had backed up from both devices), which meant that my new iTunes had record that I had purchased the QV2TP app, which In turn meant that I could download the QVPC software onto my new computer (The software is downloaded by emailing a certain address, they check to make sure that you have the app installed and if so, they give you a link to install QVPC on windows and another to install it on mac).
This is where my problem comes in: When I tried backing up my phone to my new computer, it transferred the ringtones over: The one that I purchased
is fine, but the three that I had made all have a circle located to the left of the “check” box with an exclamation point in the middle. When I try and play them,
I keep getting a pop-up that says “The Ringtone ‘……..’ could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?” The
first couple times, I clicked “yes,” and got nowhere. At first, I presumed that because I had initially uploaded the files to my Dell that they were on its hard
drive and somehow were not brought over to my new computer (likely due to some security reason or whatnot); however, when I tried rerecording and re-uploading the tones-to-be, the QVPC software rejected them all and deleted them from its “server.”
I have tried checking the box under “Tones” when my phone is connected and selected, but then it asks me if I want to delete all of my current tones off of my phone and sync over the ones that I have selected in my iTunes library under “Tones”, to which I have to say ‘No”. Yes, I do want to keep the one that I have selected; however, No, I do not want to delete the others that I already have on my phone that I created from my dell. I would like to create another ringtone from YouTube (which is not a problem); but am afraid that if I sync my tones to my phone that it will erase the other three that I made from DVD snippets that are NOT on YouTube.
Is there any way that I can play my video in iTunes, record the snippets that I want from there, and then mess around with them? If not, do you know of any other way that I can get these tones back working into my iTunes?
Again, sorry for all of the miscellaneous details at the beginning – just like to be thorough when explaining my situation to another.

Did you import the tracks into iTunes again or replace the entire iTunes folder?
Check out this Apple article -> iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
It provides the best way to move your music from one computer to another. It suggests consolidating the library, copying it to the thumb drive, moving the empty or smaller library to another folder, then copying the consolidated library from the thumb drive to the Music folder on the new computer.
If you have two librarys with music and stuff in them, you'll want to import the smaller library into the larger one by dragging and dropping stuff onto the iTunes icon or going to File > Import.

  • I have an Iphone 3G and have bought a new computer.

How do I port over my Iphone and its content to the new computer? For some reason it does not appear to be straight forward as I would think it would be

Using a windows PC you will need to Install iTunes on the new machine, Authorise the copy of iTunes on your new computer.
Then copy the information Music/Movies etc... from the old one onto the new one by CD/DVD/EX-HDD etc...
Make sure you have one contact in the Address book and Contact list on your new machine.
Then connect the iPhone, it will give you a warning about deleting all the information on the device this is fine assuming you have transferred all your music and everything across properly prior to this.
When it comes to syncing contacts/calendars make sure to choose the Merge option so it combines the contacts and calendars on the new computer with those on the iPhone meaning you don't lose any of this information 9which is whay it is important to have those bogus contacts which you can delete later)

    [General sync info|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386]

    P.S.
I think on that link to the thread supplied i was talking about transferring it over on Mac computers so the migration assistant and stuff doesn't apply here.
    Note:
As with anything on a computer i would recommend you also backup all your information before hand in case the you know what hits the fan, just so your covered.
Oh and if your not going to use your old computer and the iTunes copy on it remembering you can only sync the iPhone to one iTunes library at a time remember to de-authorise the old machine after everythings been synced up properly on your new machine

  • HT1414 iphone not recognized in windows or itunes

iphone not recognized in windows or itunes

My iPhone 5 was not being recognized by two different computers, windows 7 and windows 8.1.  My wife's iphone 5 had no issues.  I followed all the advice on-line from re-installing iTunes, resetting my phone ( as new and backed up from cloud), device manager troubleshooting, re-install drivers, different cables, different ports.  Oddly enough in the fianl analysis my iPhone only gets recognized when the cable is insert in one way into the phone.  Flip the cable and it goes straight to "unknown device".  Doesn't matter which cable I use, it only works on one side.  My wife's works both ways.  I can't explain it, but there it is.  I put a dot with a permanent marker on the cable to identify which side goes up.

Again my computer will not sync with the new phone, it doesnt see the phone within my libary, doesn't give an option to do any thing with phone
Can so one please let me know were Kim going wrong, I have authorized my computer to itunes I really don't know what to do now?

Need to Resume download to complete the ongoing Process.
Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
To save the photographs you may have to use third party software. Google is your friend.

    Hi Dalegu219,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iTunes library is on an external hard drive, but iTunes is not recognizing the library, first make sure the right library is selected.
You can use these steps to make sure iTunes is opening the library on your external drive:
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you're using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu, choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you're using a Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of these screens:
Pick Choose Library and locate the library on your external hard drive.
    From:
iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one - Apple Support
If the right library is selected, but you do not see your songs, try re-creating the library using the instructions found here:
iTunes: How to re-create your iTunes library and playlists - Apple Support
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy

  • Transferring iPhone 4 and to iTunes on new computer

I have new laptop. My iTunes was originally setup on my desktop where I connected my iPhone.
When I connect my iPhone4 to that new iTunes on my laptop will the data from that iPhone transfer to iTunes on my new computer?

Music purchased on the iPhone can be transferred to the computer, but ripped music that was copied to the phone cannot be. Also, playlists created on the computer will not be copied back.

  • Cant Synch CD songs onto new computer

Got a new computer, have music from CDs I put on my Ipod. Cant synch them onto my new computer's Itunes, only the ones I bought off there directly. How can I get my CD songs onto Itunes from my Ipod?

You copy them from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer.
The ipod is not a backup device.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.
